    WOOOHOOO!!! Just a quick update...

    Day 2 of weighing in at 219. :) It's not a hallucination!

Got approved to go back to lifting today :) Apparently over the head type of presses are no bueno.

Next week I'm getting an exercise routine from one of the PT :) I love my therapists. We only went over proper lifting techniques today. No planks. Super happy about that.

Long day of work ahead, but hopefully headed to the gym afterwards. :) So psyched!

The weather is just crazy! It was 85 and sunny here on Saturday, then Sunday we woke up to temps in the 20s followed by “thunder-sleet” storms in the afternoon, roads were all iced over this morning and most area schools were closed – my commute to work was over an hour. :explode:

@Laurie~Yes, low sodium is a possibility – my doc is running blood tests. Also, it may be attributed to a medication I was taking that prescribed to me by another doctor – I’ve quit taking it so we’ll see if other symptoms subside.

@Alupinsk~Woo Hoo! Terrific job with the run and being officially in the teens! :flowerforyou:

@rainandwood~I know its disappointing but in the grand scheme of things one pound isn’t much, its probably just water weight. I hope its gone by the next time you officially weigh with your dietician. Remember its about spending time with your friend that important, so don't stress over food too much.

@Kaye~What a sweet little thing, great dedication from your son as well.

@hansea~Albeit a little on the tired side, sounds like you had a great adventure on Saturday. Woo hoo for the loss on the scale!

@Holly~Sounds like you needed the weekend getaway, even if you stayed in town. Glad you are getting back into a routine with your classes.

@Nettie~I have a Lifeproof cover on my iPhone so can’t use armbands, but prior to using that cover I had a band by New Balance that I found at Target and it worked pretty well. Are you using a C25K app on your phone? If so, they recommend running 2-3 days a week. The programs start out slow and builds – so at first an entire C25K session might be 20 minutes. No, I don’t carry water when I run outside – it’s just cumbersome to carry, so I drink 2-3 glasses of water before leaving and then drink another 2-3 when I get home.

@Tracey~I wondered where you had disappeared to, I forgot you were going to Disney and taking a cruise. Sounds like you had a fab time, and only a .2 gain? Stupendous!!! I’m sorry you’re sick again. :frown: Welcome back! My cruise is in 12-days, not that I’m counting.

Welcome to the newlings that stopped by over the weekend, check back often.

March Challenge~I’ll be participating in this just until I for vacation, I’ll pick back up when I return (total days of participation is 18). My goals:
    1. 2/18 16 glasses of water/day
    2. 0/4 Share one recipe/week
    3. 2/18 Eat at least 5 veggies/2 fruit a day

    Exercise goals this week:

    Sunday~Session with Trainer DONE!
    Monday~Racquetball with Trainer
    Tuesday~Cardio
    Wednesday~Cardio
    Thursday~Session with Trainer
    Friday~Rest Day
    Saturday~Cardio

Thanks y'all. It's a tough row for sure!

Skinny, do you feel like smoking impacts muscle soreness? I seem to feel better physically (aside from not hacking up a lung) when I don't smoke.

Robin! I hope you feel better very soon. :flowerforyou:

In about 20 more posts we will be rolling this thread over so please don't get lost. Just follow the link at the bottom of the last post where it says in blue type "continue at this link".

    *************************

Today was a snow day and most likely I will have another one tomorrow. We had about 5 inches of snow today so that was my main form of exercise today plus I did add some core work as well. I spent about 90 minutes shoveling sidewalks and digging out the cars today. At least we did not end up with the 14 inches that were originally predicted.

Today, was a good day but no gym workout tonight but I will do another set of core exercises tonight.

Well, it was a good run. For the past 2 weeks my weight has only gone down, (I weigh daily). This morning I stepped on the scale and was up 1.6 lbs!!! I know it's nothing to fret about and not a true gain, but it was a lot more than I expected. It kind of had me in the dumps today as a result, and some cravings came back that I had to deal with. That being said, my only real slip today was buying a steak and cheese sub after work instead of coming home and having dinner. I'm still under the daily goal I set for myself, barely, and am going to drink a few extra glasses of water the next few days to flush out all the extra sodium. On a good note, I exceeded my daily protein goal by 30g!

I feel bad not doing personals all the time but I find it hard to keep up, so usually only manage to comment on a few at a time. Tonight, however, I won't be able to do any... I'm exhausted. Work was really busy, and we had no heat in the building. That kind of adds to the chill of working outside for 5 hours LOL. I never really got warm. So I'm going to have a nice hot shower before preparing my lunch and workout gear for tomorrow, and then head to bed.

Feel better RobiN!! We miss you!!

I've got a big fat 'ol case of the Mondays today. Tired, irritable, and annoyed with the world. Of course, TOM might have some input on my overall outlook since he hit me with a crowbar yesterday. I can barely keep my eyes open this afternoon.

I'm also all kinds of stressed about going to see Dr. McHotty Pants tomorrow. The look on his face when he sees I've GAINED 35lbs in the last 6 months is not going to be pretty and he's going to want to discuss it , "Why do you think you're struggling so much?" "Is something going on that it would help to talk about".. The stress will also make it worse because it'll drive my BP up and he'll have LOTS to say about that.

Anyhoo, sorry for the witch session - I haven't been under my macros for my sodium... but I HAVE been under his recommended numbers so I guess it's not all bad. I'm definitely shedding some of that sodium water though. I meant to weigh myself this morning to update my ticker (and spreadsheet) but I was late for work and forgot.

It helps to come on here and read up on how all my superheros are doing. I get so much inspiration from the people on this thread and so much support from the people on it. It really does make all the difference!

    Hello everyone!

Super super busy so this will be brief.

Got in a GREAT run yesterday, and did 5.91k, so I think I'll try that 5k without stopping before the end of the week.

Schoolwork plus having my friend here is taking a toll already, and it's reviving my sugar cravings, which is a huge pain when I have to walk by an unlimited desserts bar every meal. Given that I've decided not to fight it and worked in some room for a fresh baked cookie at dinner tonight.

Hope everyone is well. See you soon!

Welcome to all of the newlings!!! :flowerforyou:

@tanya--don't ever feel bad about not doing personals. We are just happy to have you here. Sorry the "gain" put you in a mood--but sounds like you kept it in check.

@laurie--I can't believe you had another snow day! Do you know your projected last day of school assuming tomorrow is the last one? Right now we are expected to end on June 12 due to making up our 4 "cold" day--we actually haven't even used any emergency days due to snow. Amazing considering we've had about 70 inches this winter! :noway:

@nicole--I never noticed any difference in muscle soreness. However, when I quit smoking last March, I was already pretty established in my exercise and running routines, so rarely would get sore anyways. Now that I'm "semi" smoking, I only notice a difference in my breathing--though not an extreme difference.

@kelley--I heard about your ice-storms while driving to work today. They interviewed a woman in Houston who had been stuck in her car overnight! I thought of you and am glad you made to work okay even if it did take forever. Only 12 days until your cruise?!?! Yikes! :noway:

@alupinsk--awesome that you are now in the teens!!! :drinker:

@karenleona--Ugh. That's all I have to say about the weather report.

@robin--thanks so much to your sister for updating us! Sending you warm thoughts and hugs!

    @garetie--thanks! :flowerforyou:

@tracy--Welcome back!! Glad to hear your trip was so great, and a .2 lb gain isn't even a gain in my book--way to go! :drinker:

@nettie--I agree with kelley that 3 days/week is ideal. It gives you at least 1 day off between runs and then at least one 2-day break each week to rest your running muscles as they are developing. My c25k schedule gave the option of running for minutes or distance--so for example, it would say "run 3 minutes or a quarter mile." I always did the minutes b/c it was easier to track when I was running/walking outside. I've never used an armband or foam rollers, so I'm no help there. I don't bring a water bottle when I run outside. Like kelley, I drink a couple of glasses before I head out. I run a mile and a half route that circles back home to drop off gunner. Then I drink more water and head back out to do the second mile and half without the dog.

@holly--sounds like a fun weekend. My friends and I sometimes do the same thing in downtown Chicago.

@camille--be careful traveling in that ice--hope the "lamb" comes back soon!

@amanda--those ice caves sound amazing and the profile picture is incredible!

    Monday Check-in:
Today was a long day! I went in early to get some grading done, but still have about 10 journals left. I also had to reprimand my senior AP students for being lazy and copying from the internet instead of practicing their own analysis for the journal entries. My colleague who also teaches the course had the same exact issue, so we decided to make the next journal optional. If they really feel it's that useless to do the work, then they don't need to do it. The down side if they go that route is they won't have those homework points to boost their grades--they will rely solely on their test and in-class essay grades to complete this quarter. Not a smart option, but it's their choice to make--I'm done wasting my time grading internet crap. :explode:

I had originally planned to go the gym today, but I was wiped out by the time I got home from work. DH had bought taco bell. At least he knows to just get the crunchy beef tacos--170 calories each so not a deal breaker. I had 2 and still have plenty of calories for a salad and healthy evening snack. I did get in a decent walk with gunner--25 minutes which is longer than we've been out in quite awhile thanks to this retched winter. Tonight I will also do some core work after I finish my grading. I haven't worked out at home in quite some time--not sure how my planks or push ups will go, so wish me luck.

    March Challenge:
    1. x/4 weeks--Share a new recipe
    2. 1/31--Eat a veggie/ salad every day.
    3. 1/31--Water goal 12 cups/day

    Grading goals:
    1. 60/71 AP journals
    2. x/18 AP presentations

    Exercise goals:
Mon--walk gunner DONE + core work
Tues--walk gunner + gym (circuit training + HIIT)
    Wed--walk gunner + core work
    Thurs--rest day
    Fri--walk gunner
    Sat--walk gunner + gym (cardio)
    Sun--walk gunner

Hi. Newbie here. I have lost a lot but have really fallen off the wagon so to speak. I don't go to the gym as much as I should and are having a hard time keeping my food under control. I went from a job to where I was on my feet and walking all the time to where I set behind a desk for 12 a shift on an overnight position. I have the bike that I fit under my desk and try and use that as much as I can. I am finding myself grazing a lot and even though I pack "good" snacks, I don't need to eat. Of course this weather is not helping. I can't get outside because it is freezing and the sleet and snow does not help. Since going overnight 6 months ago, I have gained 20lbs. I don't eat sugar. haven't touched a soda in 1.5 years. I drink water and tea. I have contacted a nut but still have hit a brick wall. Was supposed to meet up with a personal trainer but the weather prevented that.(I switched gyms for classes I could attend). I am shy working out and pretty shy in general with people in person.:blushing: Does anyone else have that issue. I choose to workout by myself because of my shyness. Does anyone else have issues like this?

Hey guys. I had a pretty good monday. Got the kids off to school and then a little housework done this morning. Hubby and I went and played some cards with my folks and then when the rain cleared out we went to the beach with the dogs, kids and my neice and nephew. Lots of walking playing and fun:happy: I had a nice 2 pound loss today which brought me a total of 3 pounds for last week:bigsmile: All in all a very successful day.

Welcome to all the new names I saw when I was reading through the posts. You have found a great spot for hnest and positive motivation. Everyone here is really nice and willing to listen and help.

I feel so bad for you all who are dealing with snow again. I swear the east coast and midwest cant seem to catch a break this year:ohwell:

Kah I am happy you made it to the dr. Low blood pressure can be scary to experience. Mine used to drop when I was pregnant.

Alupinsk congrats on the teens. I cant wait to be there some day.

Kaye your grandbaby is so beautiful. It sounds like it was a wonderful ceremony.

Well got to go finish up dinner. Have a great night everyone.:drinker: :flowerforyou:

Kelley-Thunder sleet- Wow, we had that in our area about a week or so ago along with thunder snow. It is amazing how quickly the frozen stuff comes down during one of those events.

Alupinsk- Congrats on the weight loss and reaching the teens.

KarenL- I hope the snow ends for you soon and you can get back to your regular walks.

Tanya- A 1.6 lb gain overnight happens due to water retention mostly unless you agte a huge amount calories yesterday. Don’t let it get you down, I am sure the scale will go back down tomorrow.

MyMowmow-I hope you get some sleep tonight. You have dealt with many things the past few months, so yes, you can let him know about the stressful events that you are handling. Try not to stress to much so you can lower the BP before you go. TOM also impacts my mood and weight so don’t fret to much right now. Good luck tomorrow.

Karen-We have gone through 8 snow days this year, yes another one tomorrow. We had 4 emergency days so we are 4 over at this point. At this point our last day is June 19 but that is subject to change. We are waiting to hear if the state department of education will waive the extra days. We have a chance since we were under a state of emergency for some of those days. If not we will be going until the end of June at this point. This storm has messed up our testing schedule as we well, the kids will now test on Thursday and Friday instead of Tuesday and Wednesday.
The cutting and pasting sound so familiar with the kids. The last project they did for me was mostly cutting and pasting when they should have put things into their own words. That is one of the reasons I stopped giving regular homework.

Nettie- Taking a day off in between runs is a good thing like Kelley and Karen have said. I usually run in doors so I take a water bottle with me but I will drink before and then I try to wait until after before I take another drink.

Pwinche1-Welcome. I am also shy around people instead I enjoy people watching. One of the goes I have is to participate in events that force me to social. I usualI work with a personal trainer and it really does help. Does your office have stairs or room to walk around? If yes, then you can use your breaks to get up and take a walk around the office or walk the stairs a couple of times. Do something that can get you up and moving throughout the day.

JT- Congrats on the loss and hitting 3 pounds this week, you are doing great.

Well, as I told Karen, I have another snow day tomorrow. After today’s shoveling, I will be able to get out tomorrow and get some errands done provided it is not freezing. Yes, we are expecting another Polar Vortex with a low temp of 5 degrees not including the wind chill. Hope everyone has a great day tomorrow.

The rollover will be happening after a few more posts. So don't get lost come and join us.

Hahaha!!! All day I've been trying to figure out why my MFP is SO screwy. My meals show I'll be 2400lbs in 5 weeks and my 25 minute walk burned over 2400 calories.

It's because I had my current weight set at 2559 :noway:
  • Hey I'm new in this ! I would like to have some friends in my app so I can have some motivation ! Feel free to add me !

Going to keep this brief since I have dishes to wash and lunches to pack before I head to bed, and I'm trying to reach my sleep goal of 8 hours per night!

I'm going to have a bedtime snack....a carrot! I'm trying to hit at least 3 servings of vegetables per day. I thought I ate a lot of veggies, but this March challenge might be eye-opening.

@Nettie- Our two turtles came into our marriage from my husband. I consider them my step-turtles. I try to love them as much as my own pets (the cats). I don't know what kind of turtle breed they are (maybe Cooter? if that's a thing), but they're aquatic. My husband had them for a year and never even named them, so they're lucky to have me in their lives. At least I care enough to call them something, even if I'm not the one who cleans their tank and feeds them, etc. I named them Scooter and Chomper.

Thanks for all the congratulatory words regarding my loss everyone! I love the big losses, but fear the week after. Sometimes when you have a bigger loss, the next week is pretty disappointing. Hopefully not this time!

Thanks to Robin's sister for the update! I hope Robin is better soon! It was good to see her smiling profile pic on the thread.

@mowmow- That's too funny about your ticker and your calorie burns! A decimal point makes quite a difference! So, when you edit that, I wonder what will happen. Will MFP freak out and because you lost almost 2000 lbs? Ha!

0/4 weeks: Try a new veggie or do something new with an old veggie and share the recipe.

2/31 days: Eat 3-5 servings of veggies.

0/31 nights: Get 8 hours of sleep.

@laurie--thanks for handling the roll over! :flowerforyou: Sorry you are going so late into the school year. We put all 5 of our emergency days on the end of our calendar year, so if we don't use any we can end earlier. This year we would have been done June 6th if not for the 4 days off. My understanding is that if we go beyond those 5, we can then request the state waive any additional. I hope your DOE allows you to end earlier as well.

@kris--I noticed that on your ticker earlier as well!

    @tammy--congrats on the loss! :drinker:

AFM--I ate my yummy salad, so met that part of the goal. I also got a few more journals done and made some fish for lunch the next few days. Now I'm too tired to do any core work. I think it is bedtime for me.

    March Challenge:
    1. x/4 weeks--Share a new recipe
    2. 2/31--Eat a veggie/ salad every day.
    3. 2/31--Water goal 12 cups/day

    Grading goals:
    1. 66/71 AP journals
    2. x/18 AP presentations

    Exercise goals:
Mon--walk gunner DONE + core work NOT DONE
Tues--walk gunner + gym (circuit training + HIIT)
    Wed--walk gunner + core work
    Thurs--rest day
    Fri--walk gunner
    Sat--walk gunner + gym (cardio)
    Sun--walk gunner

Thanks, Laurie, for taking care of the roll over.
The last couple of days have been okay foodwise, but skimpy on exercise. It was raining yesterday and I hadn't taken a rest day for a month, so I didn't do anything last night. I got a short walk this morning when taking g's to school, but it was raining and I had to drive to pick him up. If its raining tomorrow, I'll have to pull out YouTube or my DVD.
So glad to know that Robin is okay.

I'm still hoping to complete my 5k in under 45 minutes.

I am also sticking with that I want to hit 100 pounds lost by 9 months. As of today I'm 13 pounds away from that. WOO!

I also have been in a size 16 since about 230, so I'm wondering when I'll finally drop into the size 14. My stomach still has quite a pouch on it because of where I carried most of my weight, so I'm a bit worried I won't drop much size wise because of that. :/
