The week always starts out good and falls apart on the weekend. I am working on that and planning is the key. Finding stuff to eat and remembering to drink is really important to me, if I want to keep on track.

As usual there are many great post and I try to keep up, thanks.
My vegetables are about 3 inches, pepper just coming out, the Snap Peas are 6-8 inches tall. I got a tiller from the guy I have barrowed it from for the last couple years. I am going to build a rectangle trellis for the snap peas to grow up and hope they do that well. I am going to use 2x2 and just rotor out slots like a log cabin for the intersection. I will just tie them together and it will come apart to store for next year.

    Goals:
    A - Under Cal. 4/7 days
    B - Walk 3/7 days
    C - Drink 4/7

Well, I haven't been on this thread for over a week, and it shows! I'm about 4-5 pages behind, so I did a quick skim, but everyone just know that I'm a little behind. Sorry. I feel like an old stretched out bra...not very supportive. :blushing:

I just want to thank everyone who extended prayers and well wishes for my sister. Her surgery was so successful! She denied any pain afterwards, and refused any pain killers after, even Tylenol! I guess having your pelvis rebuilt and going through the incredible pain of rehab and learning to walk again two years ago has kind of expanded her tolerance for pain. The surgeon was very excited about how easily everything went from his end of things, as well. They're confident that they froze the whole tumor and that it should be dead now. I got to stay at her apartment and take care of her kiddos all day, and my kids had a great time with their cousins, so it was a good trip for us, too.

Also, I ended up under 260 at the end of last week!! Woo hoo! I am off of work this week and am home for spring break with the kids...and snacking a lot.....hoping I can maintain that under 260 at the end of this week, especially since it will be the final weigh in at the shoe store, as well.

My husband and I got fitted for new shoes last weekend. Ohhhh....they are so wonderful. They are the best shoes I think I've ever worn. I was always too shy and cheap to go in to a running store and get fitted before...so glad we did it!

    March Challenge:
3/4 weeks: Try a new veggie or do something new with an old veggie and share the recipe.

20/31 days: Eat 3-5 servings of veggies.

5/31 nights: Get 8 hours of sleep.

Here's a recipe that I got a while ago from Weight Watchers:

    Potato Chowder

    8 c. Potatoes (peeled/diced)
    1/2 c. Onion (chopped)
    3 (14 1/2 oz) cans Chicken Broth
1 (10 3/4 oz) can Cream of Chicken Soup
    pepper (to taste)
    salt (to taste)
    8 oz Cream Cheese (cubed)

Boil potatoes and onion in chicken broth until tender.
    Add soup and seasonings.
Add cream cheese and stir until creamy.

Optional...garnish with chives and bacon bits or add 1 can of corn

    Serves 12

Oh today is not a good day. I am feeling just cranky and pissy and cant seem to shake it. I am pretty sure TOM is knocking on my door based on the cramps in my lower back. Thank goodness for Jeff he has escaped to work. Now just pray for my two kids and animals that they make it through the day:grumble: I tried taking the dogs for a walk but they were driving me nuts wanting to get into and or chase everything and then it started to rain on the second lap and that was the end of that. I am pretty sure my age is starting to effect all this since in the last six months the cramps have gotten a lot worse and my moods have become very volatile. Oh well mother nature is and ever has been a b@#$ch.
To those who commented on the mudslide it is very tragic. Mudslides in western Washington are a fact of life when we have a particulary wet spring or fall but this is by far the most devistating one there has been in the 20 yrs I have lived here. While there were others in that area none of the experts thought that particular stretch was in any real danger. It caught everyone by surprise. I just pray that it doesnt rain to heavy this week and compound all the problems with flooding which is what they are worried about now. That will be my Wednesday wish I think. Just that the rain goes around that area and doesnt keep impeding the rescue/clearing efforts and cause more problems.
I hope you are all having a great day and making the most of everyhting.:flowerforyou: :drinker:

Greetings. I joined about one month ago. My goal is to lose 85 lbs. and to go from 265 lbs. to 180 lbs. I don't care how long it takes, but I did set a goal of losing 85 lbs. in 12 months.
I'm getting lots of good aerobic and strength exercise every day, and I'm eating healthy at meals, but having trouble with late-night snacks.
    Thanks for this forum.

Hi, I haven't been on for a couple of days because I had to put my oldest dog to sleep. It has been a very hard past few days. I will try to be online soon and motivating. Thank you for understanding.

@pashun--I'm so sorry about your pup. Hugs to you as you mourn the loss of your pet. :flowerforyou:

@glen--welcome! :flowerforyou: I am also a night time snacker. I find it's easier to just plan for it--I save enough calories so I can have something in the evening. I try to keep it healthy--apple and pb or some crackers and hummus, but even if it's cookies or chips, I make sure it fits my calories for the day.

@tammy--hope your mood improves and your kids and pets survive!

@hansea--so nice to hear the good news about your sister! :drinker: Also, congrats on seeing the 260s! THere is nothing like wonderful fitting running shoes--I got 2 new pair last month, and every time I lace them up they make me happy.

@ushkii--great start to the week! :drinker:

@jeannie--agree that we shouldn't take our days for granted. Too bad it sometimes takes tragedy to remind us of that.

@laurie, tom, & susan--I agree with tracy--Margaritaville is so yummy! Well, the drinks--I haven't been there in years, so I'll take her word on the bartenders. Have fun!

AFM--my hair turned out fine and I finished the motif charts, so a good start to the day. I'm now at starbucks trying to will myself to get through at least a few AP essays. Sadly, I am allowing myself to be distracted listening to Kings of Leon--I just love Caleb Followill's voice.

    March Challenge:
    1. 2/4 weeks--Share a new recipe
    2. 21/31--Eat a veggie/ salad every day.
    3. 25/31--Water goal 12 cups/day

    Grading Goals:
    1. 50/50 motif charts DONE
    2. 10/70 AP essays
    3. 22/50 JRP drafts

    Exercise goals:

Ushkii - you're smart to plan for the weekend. They kinda devastate me. What are you planning for this weekend. Do you go out to eat a lot?
Its great you can till your garden again this year - you'll have wonderful soil. Your idea for a take-down pea trellis is pretty clever. I do miss doing lots and lots of gardening. I'm getting excited myself - I plan on some kind of climbing vine for shade on the west side of the deck - something that will flower and grow about 12 feet or so - and is drought tolerant!

Hansea - yep, I understand, you're gone a few days and you've got a reading assignment when you get back!
So happy your sister is doing so well - she is amazing not needing pain meds - like you say her previous experience must have changed her.
Congrats on being under 260 - WOOT! :drinker: :flowerforyou:
Glad your new shoes are working out - I think a pair are in my future too. I will go the route youdid and get a fitting too.
I saw the cutest pair in the Drs. office today and she said they were New Balance, which is a great brand.

jtconst - oh dear! I'm glad I don't live next door - scary morning - a jt-vortex! Thanks for filling me in with more information about landslides in your area. I didn't understand. It just seems so scary. Yet I live in an area where tornados hit every year with regularity. We take our chances. I was happy to see on the news tonight that a young (6?) boy was rescued from the mudslide area today. Such happy news!

gaverill123 - Hi Glen - so happy to have another guy join our group! Please come often as the thread moves so very fast. It sounds like you have a great plan for weight loss and a year is not unreasonable is you are a consistent person. Consistency is the key to that kind of progress. There are lots of other ways. Some people fall off the wagon 3 or 12 times while on this journey so it takes longer for some people, but its ultimately possible, especially with the help of a great community of friends like us
Glen, you said your getting aerobic and strength exercise every day. Could you elaborate? Do you take rest days?

pashunrose - oh, honey, I'd love to wrap you in a big hug. That is so so sad. Your buddy is in a wonderful place now and not hurting. Take your time and let yourself heal.

Skinny - I enjoy the Kings as well. Thanks for the tip about dental wax. I got some and although its not working for the purpose intended - it wont cling to my teeth - it makes a great gum substitute! Gum goes stale after so long, but the wax can be used over and over again and doesn't get stale. What a money saver! And I don't end up with a fuzzy taste in my mouth. I like that feature.

AFM- I got my steroid shot in my buttinsky and met with the PT. She just took range of motion exercises and was so excited when I told her I had a heated pool where I lived so she gave me all water exercises to do there. But I cant start them for 2 days, I have to absolutely rest for 2 days due to this steroid injection then I can start the water exercises. I can do them every day - start with 20 min and increase as I'm able. Tomorrow I see the allergist and then i get Friday off!

Its a rainy day in Utah. I did get a walk in this morning before it rained.
We really didn't think that Daddy would survive this trauma, but he seems to be improving. Thus my wish and prayer for this week is that if Heavenly Father isn't ready to take him home yet, that we will be able to find appropriate and affordable care for him. It is a worry.
    Take care.

@kaye--hope you and your sisters find the right place/care for your father. Glad to hear he continues to improve. :flowerforyou: It is supposed to be rainy here in IL soon as well. Better than snow.

@robin--I wasn't sure if it would stick to your teeth, but I'm glad it's serving a purpose.

AFM--I managed to knock out 5 essays. Not a lot but my grading list is definitely getting shorter. Tomorrow is the funeral then DH and I will spend some time visiting with family who are in from out of town (they drove in for the funeral). I have an appt to donate blood tomorrow evening. I was tempted to cancel, but there's a nice starbucks right next door, so it would give me an excuse to grade some more essays... We'll have to wait and see how the day goes--if we get home early enough, I will keep the appt.

Hope your Wednesday wishes came true for you all. Thursday Truth: Another night of not getting the junk out of my kitchen. Got home around 9:30 last night and just didn't have the energy for it. Tonight I have no plans other than a quick trip to one store to buy two birthday gifts for 8 year old girls. I won't have an excuse tonight to not get it done.

@ Tom...good for you for getting back to strength.
@Jeannie...I agree with the anything can happen and you should take advantage of each day...don't always do it, but...
@hansea...glad your sister's surgery was successful and that she's not in TOO much pain.
@Tammy...I hope you got a good rest last night and that today is much better than yesterday (especially for your kids' sake! )
@Rose...sorry to hear about your dog. That's tough!
@Robin...here's hopin' that the steroid shot will do wonders for you. Good luck with the allergist today.

AFM. I felt pretty good all day yesterday...just a little sore in my thighs. Until I went to Water Aerobics. We did a lot of deep water muscle work and boy did my muscles scream and plead to be done. Today will definitely be a rest day as I can barely move without some type of ache today. Apparently DOMS is a real thing! :embarassed: Today I will:
    *Drink my water
    *Weigh and measure my food
    *Stay under calories
*Get the junk food out of my kitchen
*Have a great evening with my kids...both kids will be done with activities by 5:00 and then it's just hang with Mom night.

    Thursday Truth -
I love a good bargain. I noticed when I run that my hoodies are not warm enough. I decided to go on Kohl's website and see if they had anything a little bit warmer for me. I ended up finding 2 fleece jackets for running. One was $10 ish and the other was $19 ish, both on sale. Then I looked in the men's section for one for Brian. I found one on sale too but not as cheap as I got mine for. I was happy that I found these items on sale. I then remembered about a discount code I had from Christmas. They emailed me a code because my order was not shipped by the promised date. It still arrived well before Christmas so I wasn't mad at all and was surprised they gave me a discount. I also had some Kohls cash to use. After I was done entering all my discounts my order came out to $20!!! As you can imagine I was thrilled with this purchase. Now I anxiously await for my order to arrive.

I am going to have to workout today after work unless I get everything I need to get done with plenty time to spare. Today I am working on my letters of interest for 3 opened positions in my district and revamping my resume. These positions are for the summer. One of them is for my job that I currently have and it carries over for next year as well. I hope they are willing to give me the position again.

Skinny - LOL to the "Easter eggs". I never heard of that term before. I agree with Daryl.

Tracy - I agree with Margaritaville. I visited the one in Grand Cayman and loved it.

Jeannie - I agree. The news of the mudslide was really sad.

Ushkii - I am glad to hear you are working on making better choices. I treat my weekends like i would the rest of the week. I find logging my foods right before I eat them also help with me controlling how much I consume.

Sounds like your garden is growing very well! Do you ever go on Pinterest? I have a lot of pins pinned for gardening. There are a few things I want to make this year for my garden. Here are some links to them!

Hansea - No need to apologize. You had other things that take priority right now. I am glad to hear things are going well for your sister. Please keep us posted on her progress.
I am glad you and your hubby were professionally fitted for shoes. I was fitted a few weeks ago and my husband was fitted this past weekend. He has a difficult foot to fit as it is very large and wide. He was amazed at what a difference it made to be fitted. He had no issues with his new runners at all after wearing them the first time.

jtconst - Sorry to hear you are feeling cranky and pissy. I hate when TOM makes me feel that way.

    Glen - Welcome!

pashun - I am so sorry to hear about your dog. That is always a tough decision to have to make. (((hugs)))

Robin - Was your steroid shot painful? I had to have one last year to help me fight an infection. Oh my goodness did that burn like heck. That is great that your PT was able to give you exercises to do in the pool. I hope they help when you begin them.

hansea - Glad your sister did well and you had a good week.
pashunrose - Sorry to hear about your dog,
skinny - Went out with the guys and went over my Cal. by a couple hundred. It happens.
RobinsEgg - When a party is going to happen I have to have a very light breakfast and know before hand to stay away from the food table. Then eat a light dinner. If I would remember to drink that would help me. I had a birthday party last week and we ate at an all you can eat pasta place, I slept in and we ate at noon and I had to eat slowly and drink lots and then dinner was very light.
JNettie - I do not pin or FB, lol. funny thing is my title is IT Specialist. any who, I will forward to the wife and take a peak, maybe have her post my contraption when I make it.

Thur truth, so the wife went to the dietitian, lol. Now she has to get on board with logging and walking, woot! Don't tell her I told you.

Well, this week has be awful as far as exercise is concerned. I was already going to miss Monday and Friday and missed Wednesday and today due to crisises at work. I hate it when work interfers with my life! I really hope next week is calmer and I can get to class. I'm off tomorrow for the weekend. Hope everyone has a great one!

    Exercise Goals:

Saturday - 3 mile minimum walk DONE (4.8 miles)
    Sunday - Rest Day DONE
Monday- Cardio/Weights/Stretch (missing due to work)
    Tuesday - Yoga DONE
    Wednesday - Cardio/Weights/Stretch NOT DONE

@L2T- Too bad that life is getting in the way of your exercise this week. You did get in an almost 5 mile walk on Saturday, though! And yoga, so not a total loss.

@ushkii- How exciting to have your wife joining you with the logging and walking! You must be having an influence. Enjoy the journey together!

@Nettie- Gotta love a good deal...I love when that happens, too!
My husband and I both have wide feet and overpronate...his are obnoxious. LOL! I've run three times this week in the new shoes...all the arch support is a surprise. It's different....but, in a good way!
Hope your letters/resume do nothing but impress!

@tlh- Hope you got rid of the junk in your kitchen tonight! Hope you enjoyed your rest day, too. When they talk about how water aerobics will take it easy on your joints, I always wondered how tough it is. Obviously, you work pretty hard!

@skinny- The new shoes make me smile, too. The only sad part is that they're not as pretty as my husband's! LOL His are shiny and blue and yellow. He was less than excited to learn that it's trendy to have neon or flashy looking running shoes. I was excited to maybe get something different than my other two pairs (one grey/pink, the other black/hotpink)....and....the pair that fit best just happened to be....grey and hot pink! Oh well.
Hope you're able to get out and donate, and get some more grading done!

@Kaye- Prayers for you and your family! What a stressful time trying to figure out what's best for your dad. I hope the answers come easy for you guys. :flowerforyou:

@Robin- Exercise in a heated pool sounds pretty good right about now...it's been such a dull, grey, dreary, rainy, cold day!

@pashunrose- So sorry to hear about your dog! What a difficult decision. Take time to grieve. Our pets are so important. :flowerforyou:

@Glen- Welcome! I'm a late night snacker, too. I find it is okay to eat later at night....as long as it fits within my calories for the day. Also, a lot of times, I just need to go to bed!

@jtconst- I think either I'm getting better in touch with my moods, or my TOM rages are getting worse, too. I hate them. :frown: You're in the moment, you're moaning or yelling about something, and you're thinking almost at the same time, 'I am crazy. This is irrational. Yet, I'm still going to finish making my crazy point to my poor husband with as much attitude as possible.' At least it's all temporary! Hope yours passes fast, too! :drinker:

Thursday Truth: I'm not sure where my 6 year old daughter came from. She's never been a big sweet-eater. As a sugar/carb addict, I find this baffling. The other day, she helped me make mini-cheesecakes, and she couldn't finish hers because she didn't like it! What?! It's. Cheese. Cake. Also, my daughter will try most anything (I think to please us, not so much that she's excited to try a new food.), and last night she declared that she loves asparagus!:noway: I thought it was just okay....and I made it!

Tonight, I made Mukimo. I got the recipe off my CRS Lenten Rice Bowl app. It's a dish from Kenya, and it was pretty good! I'll have to share the recipe tomorrow. I was entering my dinner into my food diary, and just for grins, I searched for Mukimo...it was in the MFP search! Wow!

3/4 weeks: Try a new veggie or do something new with an old veggie and share the recipe.

22/31 days: Eat 3-5 servings of veggies.

6/31 nights: Get 8 hours of sleep.

Just wanted to say hi real quick. Today was a mich better day and everyone managed to survive. Got a bit done around the house and sme errands run. This afternoon I was messing around with some video games and looked at the time and thought I better get dinner started. Well got it all cooked and was eating mine wondering when my son was going to be home. I kept thinking he must have hit some awful traffic. Well I looked up to see how late it was and realised I totally got the time wrong. I wa just finishing eating my dinner and it was only 3:45.OOPS:laugh: Ah well it reheated well for him and I still managed to stay out of the food the rest of the night.

Thursday truth: I put my walking shoes on first thing this morning, but before we could get started it was raining. I wore them all day, but my optimism never paid off. Every time I could have gone for a walk, it was raining again. Hope its better tomorrow.
Susan and Laurie-What fun! I think that we all envy you getting to meet.
Hansea-My 6 year old grandson doesn't like sweets either. About the only thing he will eat is the ginger cookies that I make. Go figure.
Thanks to all of you for your caring and prayers. Daddy seems a little better every day. He perked up more in the afternoon today. I wonder if that will be a pattern.

Another cold, rainy day in Charlotte. Is Spring ever going to arrive?

I'm still 1 lb away from having lost 100 lbs. I'm trying not to focus on the 50 I will still have to lose when I get there. Patience is a virtue, but not one of mine. I'm trying to walk the fine line between celebrating my success so far and retaining focus on what I still have to do. Not as easy as it sounds. I think since I've gotten to a more comfortable place with my weight, there is real danger of slacking off and not pushing as hard for results.

For example, DH bought jelly beans at the store last week and I found myself eating some (or more than some) every day. And this from a woman that got through Halloween without consuming a single piece of candy corn! So, jelly beans and I have parted ways. I've gone back to my thinking that says "they'll be here next year too" and remember that I am nowhere close to my goal. I don't want to put undue pressure on myself, but I think for me a certain amount of pressure is necessary to keep me focused and on track.

I'm off in a while to spend the weekend with my daughter. It'll be a nice break from a rotten week at work. I really hope next week is better and that some of my coworkers develop the ability to think outside the box and stop relying on me to do it for them. I like these people (for the most part) and they do a good job unless something happens that is outside their normal day to day experience. Then they throw up their hands and dial my number. And ruin my day in the process. /rant over.

Hope everyone has a great weekend!

@Jeanette...I don't ever seem to find those deals. Good for you! And good luck with the open positions -- my fingers are crossed for you!
@L2T...At least you got your walk in on Saturday and Yoga. Better than nothing so don't beat yourself up too much. I am nowhere near my goal and haven't lost enough to feel comfortable yet. You've done so amazing, but I agree with the certain amount of pressure is probably still needed. Is there a picture of you from your goal weight that you could keep handy? As I've been stuck at the 30 pounds loss for a year now I'm not an expert, but just an idea I've heard from others.
@hansea...I did. I got rid of the junk last night. Still lots of snacks for the kids but they are either healthy for me or I don't like them or they are hidden. Now I just need to wait for someone to drink that last coke. (and hope my husband listens to me and doesn't bring anymore in).
@Susan & Laurie...how fun to meet. And Tom and Amy tonight!
@Tammy...that made me giggle about the time (not about the worrying about your son--that had to be awful). Thanks for a good start to my morning.
@Grandma Kaye...at least you were prepared even if mother nature wasn't cooperating with you.

Friday Fitness: I'm not ready to plan out a week yet as inevitiably something gets changed/interupted and then I get frustrated. I do know that I have a session with my sister on Saturday that we are going to do the trainer's workout again. Then we meet with the trainer on Tuesday. I'm still a bit sore today but plan on getting in a good walk today. Now if only I could find my fitbit (my daughter took it for a toy. I took it back and then forgot where I put it. :blushing: )

    My plan for today:
    *drink my water
    *avoid pop
*stay under calories - but still get in pizza with my son since it's just the two of us tonight
*go to bed if I want a later snack like last night
    *get 8 hours of sleep
    *get in a walk

    Have a great Friday!!

Friday - This week I completely slacked in regards to exercise, again. I am a bit disappointed with myself. I started off the week with good intentions of working out but then didn't follow through. Last night was another plan to exercise after work but never did. But at least I burned off some calories at work. My student's had gym yesterday and they were learning to play kickball. They are at the stage that they need prompting and assistance with everything. So I had to run with my students around the bases. (I didn't mind but my aides were not thrilled about it. They were complaining and saying they have not ran in years.) One of my students is a little itty bitty peanut (just turned 5) so when I ran with him it was more like a fast walk. My other students are much taller so I could actually run fast with them. It was a lot of fun for not only my students but myself. Though when I got in the car to drive home I noticed both my knees were aching. I don't know what I did but they actually hurt if I moved certain ways. This morning only my right knee aches. I am wondering if I twisted or something while running around with the kids.

No time for personals right now. I will come back later to do them.

@kah- You're back! I can only assume that the lovely pic of the tropical bird is from your trip. Can't wait for a full report and many more pictures.

    Welcome back!

    Good morning everybody.

I hit a new low weight this morning! And I’m back to being close to breaking into the 250’s area where I have not been in many years.

Welcome back Kelley! Cool bird picture although every time I see those birds I want a Guinness. I can’t wait to hear about your trip.

Donut Friday. I do not need one. I will not eat one. I think I see a hair. Sigh.

    so sad and funny update:

Tried to run yesterday after slipping and busting my bum on the ice the other day.

My bum is so bruised that it hurts my butt to run. :( yet :) at the same time. I tried running yesterday and was like ow...wtf?

    /sigh. runners problems.

@aimee--ouch! Sorry your bum hurts--but at least you know you are working those glutes when you run.

@susan--donuts are disgusting! Not only is there likely a hair, but I think I saw the baker picking his nose among other unhygenic actions.

@tom--congrats on getting to that new low!! :drinker: Love the quote--very fitting for your outing tonight.

@kelley--welcome back!! Can't wait to hear all about your cruise!

@nettie--sometimes the best of intentions get derailed. I know the weather hasn't been cooperating with you out east--you will get back on track this next week. Sorry about your knees. I've found it's really easy to twist a knee or ankle when you run on an unfamiliar surface. If you are used to running outside those gymnasium floors can be treacherous. I would say rest and ice.

@tracy--I sometimes feel the same way about trying to plan for busy weeks. I find I'm better off just planning and adjusting as I go--otherwise I don't end up doing anything. :ohwell: :blushing:

@L2T--"I think since I've gotten to a more comfortable place with my weight, there is real danger of slacking off and not pushing as hard for results." WOW--this has been the story of my life for about the past year! I don't know how to get back to that place of motivation where I'm really strict with myself about my nutrition choices and exercise. :grumble: I hope your co-workers get it together--it's frustrating to have to pick up the slack for others. :grumble: I'm fortunate to work with some really amazing teachers in my department at work. However, I've gotten grouped with teachers from other departments for professional development activities, and sometimes I don't understand how some of them get anything done!

@kaye--sorry mother nature is being so uncooperative. :ohwell:

@tammy--glad your mood has turned around (and everyone survivied! ).

@karenleona--you know we'll be here! :flowerforyou:

@ushkii--We all have those days--you are still on track to meet your calorie goal 4/7 days. <whispering so she doesn't hear> Yay for your wife is getting on board with healthy changes!
