Jan, I don't have an exercise routine, but just try to fit in what I can when I can - I walk the boys to school and walk to collect them, walk to the shops etc when the weather permits ( as ds4 would get the right hump if I made him walk in the rain - actually all 4 boys would have the hump  ). I try to do my exercise dvds and my rowing or exercise bike once the minded have left and my older 2 boys can play/watch the younger 2 or I leave it until the little 2 are asleep and then try to make the exer:laugh: cise my time. I rode the bike for 60 minutes on wednesday, in 2 goes, 1 for 13 minutes and the other for 47 minutes and I sat on the bike pedalling like loon while I read a book (wouldn't recommend this long at the moment though, my hip is killing me and have only been able to do minimal exercise so have walked nearly everywhere for the past 2 days!).

Will pop back later, need to check nappies and get ready for my first mothers day performance (older 2 boys went to different infant schools and they didn't do this performance - just cards!)

My workout for the day.....sad.... yet so true........

I was out and about today and decided I was going to have some crack in a cup, otherwise known as a Chick-Fil-A milkshake. I love those things, unfortunately to the tune of 660 calories, 27 grams of fat and a whopping 90 grams of sugar, I don't indulge very often.

I fought through the parking lot of crazed drivers. I got in line at the drive thru. (Seriously, that place is always busy.) I ordered my chicken nuggety things and those yummo waffle fries and my much anticipated, VANILLA MILKSHAKE.

I started off with my chicken and fries. I was trying to preserve the shake, and furthermore, I knew once I started and put my lips to the straw, it was all over. I would suck that delicious milk shake through that liquid transfer device til my eyes popped out and all that was left was the sad slurping sound at the end signifying the last few remnants of pure delight and air being sucked up simultaneously.

Finally, it was time, I reached for the shake, the clear plastic dome cup topper thingy that was filled with milkshake and whipped cream came off, the cup stayed still. It was like slow motion. NNNOOOOOO! Milkshake was oozing down the sides of the cup, filling my cup holder.

It was devastating to watch. Not so much because it was making a mess, and oh, was it ever, but because I was losing precious shake into my dirty nasty cup holder. Had I not been driving I would have dove on the cup attached my lips and started slurping to avoid the spillage, but since I needed to steer, accelerate, brake and avoid other cars, all I could do was watch in horror.

The two napkins they gave me were hardly effective for the size of the mess I had. The cup was so overfilled, I couldn't figure out how to grab it and get it out of the cup holder. It just kept oozing hunks of my precious down the sides. Finally, I pried the cup from the suction tight grasp that the cup holder had on my milkshake. It was a fight, one in which I was NOT losing. I held the cup over the empty food bag, the milkshake volcanic activity continued as I started to drink. Brain freeze set in. I was a warrior, I didn’t let it stop me. Fight through the pain! (My motto.)

By this time, I had milkshake everywhere. I usually have a pack of wet wipes in the car but they were left open and dried out. (Kids!) I managed to scrounge up two napkins that were leftovers from some other fast food jaunt at one time or another.

My hands were sticky. I wrapped one of the napkins around the milkshake, the napkin stuck tight to my fingers. My other hand was sticking to the steering wheel. I didn't care. I just smiled and happily slurped down my crack in a cup. Ahhh, heaven.

Lol-- Lori, I think we need an intervention.

I LOVE it ! Now that was a workout...

Morning friends. Plans to pull myself together since Marla said I need an intervention.

Had something odd happen this AM. Got on the scale, hadn't been on for a few days, been making questionable food choices and slacking on the exercise front. Was shocked at the number. (Ok, that's happened plenty of times.) This time is was a 'Is that ALL?' I never haver said or thought that before. It was only half a pound over my ok weight range.

Interesting really. I would have guessed it a few more. My body feels like it's a few more. My body looks like it's a few more.

Anyway, I need to mark it down somewhere, the scale said a number less than what I expected it to say. Miracles do happen occassionaly.

Regardless, I'm getting back on track. Went to the gym, got in a 900 calorie workout. It felt good.

Kati- I avoid meds like Benadryl cause I hate feeling crappy afterwards. Right now both my ears are closed from the fluids in my sinuses moving all around while I was at the gym. I really should start back on sinus stuff, but I won't.

Tanya- hope the hip gets to feeling better

Roni- those days happen to all of us. Where you are better than me is you log it. I don't. I guess somehow in my messed up mind, if I don't log it, it didn't happen.

Jan- hang in there. Get one thing under control at a time if you need to. Sometimes it's easier to get a handle on eating and then add in exercise. When I started I got my eating in check and walked. That was it. Just walked. It was enough to lose 30 pounds. It wasn't unitl that point that I picked up my exercise routine.

Marla- I'm sorry you have a crappy neighbor, no fun. Happy to hear your son seemed to listen to your advice. My take on kids- most of the time they whine and moan about everything they have to do, no matter what their age.

The rest of my wonderful team..... I can't remember no more..... Sorry.

I was going to head outside and do some work, but the weather looks kinda blah, like it could rain any second. I guess that means I get to clean the inside of the house. Goody.

To use a Marla phrase....I just finished W1D3 of C25K and it was Glorious ! It felt so good. Legs tired but they should be, not a young chicken here. Breathing good even steady. Sweat...check ! Awww I think I might actually be able to do it this time.

Lori...I love those pleasant unexpected surprises when it comes to the scale. I said I wasn't going to weigh in Wed and I did anyway. No loss No gain, I'll take it.

Kati...I hate cold meds too but I have allergies and have to take something.

    Tanya..Take care of your hip.

Roni...Yesterday my eating was unbelievable , not that I ate over my calories but the junk I ate. I logges every miserable thing too.

Marla...There is unfortunately a crappy neighbor in every neighborhood. They aren't happy unless they think they are making someone else unhappy. Keep the faith and don't let the SOB bring you down. So sorry the flu has hit your family. That is a lot of puke and dirty sheets to have to clean.

Beautiful day outside here, rained last night and I'm sure we are going to get more but for now I will enjoy.

    I  Black Team !

My MFP on my computer keeps not working. It keeps letting me get to the website and then before I can click anything it goes to Internet cannot be displayed. So I'm checking in on my phone.

Lori-FL - Hilarious! Never had their milkshakes but LOVE their waffle fries.

Marla - For some reason, you swearing makes me laugh. Sorry about the lousy neighbor though.

    Laters!

Interesting day-- I've been under the weather all day-- no puking, just the other stuff if you know what I mean-- blech. Took a long nap with Josh and Caleb, shivered through it.

Awoke to husband who had just returned from turning in the 24 hour Holter monitor he'd been put on. As he walked in the door, his doctor told him he is wanted back in the emergency room immediately-- readings of the 24 hour monitor show that his heart rate drops dangerously low.

He feels vindicated. I've been giving him crap for months because of all the naps he takes. Truly-- I've been "up to here" with it. And *****ing-- "Either get to the doctor, or shut the hell up," I'd tired of hearing his symptoms.

As I opined to a friend, he has it in his nature to overemphasize when he's sick. You or I may have a headache, his head is "pounding." We may have a sore throat, his is "raging." After 22 years of it, during which he'd read his own x-ray and diagnosed himself with a cancerous tumor in his shoulder (weeks after golfer Paul Azinger had the same condition) I don't even listen to him anymore. (it was tendonitis)

Anyone ever heard of the boy who cried wolf? But, seems there is something wrong. I'm glad to know that, and pissed off that he didn't go to the doctor at my urging FREAKING MONTHS ago, when all these conditions allegedly started. Instead, yes, he napped all freaking day. I'd had my fill of it. To my way of thinking, if you're truly that sick, you'd get your *kitten* to the doctor-- (yes, I said it again--) and if you're not going to the doctor, you're faking. So, get your *kitten* out of that bed. (I think I'm assed out now-- whew)

Not sure if I'm feeling guilty right now for having given him a hard time, or ticked off that the dope didn't check this out months ago. (FYI-- "dope" is my signature word-- it's a term of affection-- ha)

OH well-- should be interesting. He wouldn't let me go with him, because tonight is my "crunch night" at work-- pay cycle ends tonight, so I have to log all I can by midnight.

I'll let you know when I hear something--

Evening black team...I'm late getting things logged today. I had to work early and then went to lunch with my hubby, dad and step-mom, ran errands and am cooking supper now. I have to make myself go to the gym after I eat. I missed yesterday and don't want to get in the habit of not exercising. It is too easy for me to quit. I've enjoyed reading all of your stories. I too have some crappy neighbors and for some strange reason I am craving a milkshake:laugh: Hope everyone has a great weekend.

Marla~ I hope you and hubs get better. I have a dope too. He's allergic to fire ants and got bit by one and let it swell up so bad that it was turning blue before he decided to go to the DR. Must be a MAN thing!

Well, it wouldn't be so bad if there was no complaining about symptoms-- if it's a dude thing, and you want to be all macho, great. Suck it up, and press on.

But, I'm telling you, I heard it day and night.

Truly, I finally yelled at him and told him I was gonna pull a "Him." He's famous for telling me, "Either do something about it, or shut the hell up."

So, I laid the same on him-- oh the pouting that ensued! And now I'm the uncaring, unfeeling doubter-- you can't win, you know?

He said he'll be there overnight, but hasn't had anything significant really to tell me yet-- bradycardia or something like that-- I don't know.

Well at least mine never whinned. He thought if he never said anything to me I wouldn't notice and it would just go away. He was bit by 1 yes ONE red ant and he almost stopped the blood flow to his foot.

Marla - You and DH are in my prayers. Let us know how he is doing. You too. No fun having to spend your day in the potty.

And, I'm running for Mother/Wife of the Year. I told my kids and DH that if they woke me up at all tonight that they'd better be puking or bleeding. Seriously. Night before last, I was up 6 times (twice with each kid) in less than 3 hours. Lost count after that. Irritated mama that night. Last night, E, DH and I in our bed. T in her bed. D woke up. Wanted in with us. Uh uh, no way. I took him back to his bed. Thought, "Hmmm, E's bed is empty. I'll sleep there. And, I won't have to walk back to my bed." Two minutes later, here comes D. Little $&!# saw me go in there. Fell asleep until 4:15 a.m. Came back to my bed, carried the zonked E to T's bed (queen sized bed) and DH has the b@lls to say, "And, she's back." His @$$ about got pushed out of bed. :grumble: So I don't feel bad that DH is trying to sleep while I do Girl Scout stuff, make a grocery list and now play on MFP at 11:10 p.m. central time.

Marla - I hope that dh is ok, and that you re as well.

Actually got some sleep last night, but feel more out of sorts now than before. Going to try for a gentle ride on the bike today, hip still aches/hurts but if I ride slowly it might work itself out. Also need to walk to the shops and get a windscreen wiper for thes suburban. I am going to measure it and then measure all the ones in the shops as I know that they won't stock it, they didn't stock the wipers for my old imported japenese estima so can pretty much guarentee that they won't have one for the american car
Then have to do the usual stuff around the house - washing, ironing, hovering etc before taking little John to a birthday party.

Hope that everyone has a great day, will check back later need to put the first load in the dryer (its nearly 7.30am, and hopefully my neighbour from hell won't complain that it has gone on too early - yes Marla, we all have them, and mine is in the local councils files as a seriel complainer  )

    Good Saturday morning Team!

Marla-- Any more news from DH yet?

Tanya-- Hope the hip is better today, take it easy!

Kati-- Hope you got more sleep tonight and everyone stayed in their own beds! It may sound crazy, but I actually miss those days:ohwell: My boys are 15 and 20, and the oldest is living away on college campus and although it was annoying to me sometimes back then, I sure miss the days when they wanted to hop in Moms bed:cry:

Im really excited today! My oldest is on spring break from college and will be home sometime today for a week!! I havent seen him since he went back to school after christmas break. I plan on getting to the gym early today so I can be here when he gets in.

I will try to check back later, I keep thinking about Marla's DH and am anxious to hear how he's doing. Have a wonderful Saturday everyone!:flowerforyou:

good morning, my friends-- your concern, as always, just touches and warms my heart. This group of people from around the globe are truly the best friends I've ever had-- God bless you all.

Well, so far, the news from hubs is that they're not knowing why his heart rate drops, but it drops dangerously low at times. The results of his 24 hour Holter monitor show that at times when he's sleeping, his pulse dropped to 20. They got him right into the emergency room yesterday, hooked him up to stuff, he dozed off to sleep and set off the alarms because his pulse dropped again so rapidly.

They've done CAT scans on his brain to look for evidence of a stroke, they'll be doing echocardiograms, already done EKGs-- and will be doing sonograms on his carotid arteries today. Running the gamut of tests.

they told him the obvious solution will be a temporary pacemaker for now, most likely, even though the cause of the problem presently still remains a mystery. He was boo-hooing about being a 48 year old man on a pacemaker. Ya know, cry me a river, I told him-- better than being a 48 year old dead man.

I'm really having no patience with him right now. He's said for years with regard to my daughter having diabetes, what a blessing she was born at this time and has access to all the medical technology to keep her alive. Centuries ago, diabetic children were simply "sickly" and eventually withered away.

I told him the same thing yesterday when he's getting a pissy attitude about being in the hospital, and all he has to do at home-- ya know, freaking enough, pal. It's a blessing there IS such a thing as a pacemaker. Who the hell cares how old you are when you need one. Again, I probably don't sound very sympathetic, but I'm really ticked that he didn't do this four months ago. And like I said, the history of the histrionics-- there's a part of him, I'm sure, that's a pig in poop to be getting the attention for being sick. He loves it. Just like his dad-- and truly I'm up to here with it.

Good thing I didn't go into nursing like I'd intended. My snapoutofit.gif wouldn't be terribly well received, I don't think.

Still no word on when he'll be home. Probably some time today. I have to hit the ground running-- Abby is celebrating her 8th birthday so I need to scoot and get some festivities prepared.

I got nine-- count 'em N-I-N-E (1-2-3-4-5-6-7-8-9) hours of sleep last night. Brought Caleb and Josh in bed with me, and zzzzzzz-- I'm almost giddy.

Have a great day-- thank you again for the concern-- I'll update you as I know more.

Marla, big hugs dear. Tell DH it has nothing to do with age. I know a 28 yr old with a defibralator (sp) in his chest and he thanks God each day that they found him lying on the floor before he went to meet his maker.

And then give him a hug from Jeannie!!:flowerforyou:

Marla- Keeping your hubs in my prayers...glad they have at least offered a solution, and hoping that they can get to the root of the problem. Big hugs to you and the kids. Happy Birthday, Abby!

Finally warming up from my 8 miler in the rain. It was 47 degrees, so pretty comfy temperature-wise, but the wind and constant rain made it miserable. I didn't wuss out and go back to bed, and I survived without (much) whining, so I'm proud of that. Now, I'm one of THOSE runners. You know, the ones you see and shake your head out when you see them on the streets in this weather. Our coach said we get bonus points because it gave us mental toughness...I agree. I'll take note of this when I hit mile 20 in November.

    Have a great day!

Shuntae, you are THE man-- I'm so impressed. You answered the question I just posed to you on facebook-- rain AND wind-- wow. Way. To. Go!

Hubs just called. Seems his heart rate is not dropping at night-- that was his assumption. It's dropping during the day. So, he says, "Oh, I thought it was at night. During the day isn't so bad. I can control that. Just take a deep breath. I don't need a pacemaker. I don't need to be here till Monday-- " blah, blah, blah

Ladies and gentlemen, I'm going to kill this man. He won't need a freaking pacemaker.

I reminded him of his million freaking naps a day-- "Hon, you are NOT going to come home. you're going to FREAKING listen to your doctor and get this taken care of."

Finally told him I'm not arguing with him-- do what the hell you want, but your *kitten* better stay out of that bed.

Now that's bedside manner, my friends. :noway:

Ladies and gentlemen, I'm going to kill this man. He won't need a freaking pacemaker.

I reminded him of his million freaking naps a day-- "Hon, you are NOT going to come home. you're going to FREAKING listen to your doctor and get this taken care of."

Finally told him I'm not arguing with him-- do what the hell you want, but your *kitten* better stay out of that bed.

Now that's bedside manner, my friends. :noway:

Classic. No sense in sugar coating the truth. So, to your hubs, I say "Keep your *kitten* in that hospital. Love and hugs from MD."
