Do you lift heavy? Are you bulky?

Show me.
I've seen a random increase in the "Lift low weights, high reps to avoid bulky" posts. I would like to perform a quick survey of women.
Do you "lift heavy", meaning 4-10 reps as heavy as you can for 3-5 sets? (4-6 reps is good for strength, 8-10 for size, by the way). I'd like to see pictures in "street clothes" without flexing. Some people get confused thinking flexing and/or muscle definition = bulk. Also, I'd like some examples of how much weight you lift.
I'll go first:
This is my husband and I on Halloween.
I can squat 135lbs for 4 reps, bench 110lbs also for 4.

Me in street clothes, beginning of the year, about 170lbs, 5'8
As of Thanksgiving I deadlift 210, squat 180 and OHP 75.
Recently I deadlifted 195 for two reps, benched 90 for two reps, and squatted 175 for two reps. Also just hit a PR in oly lifting, 105 power snatch and a 105 squat clean for three reps.1 -
Ok, I'll bite!
I took this one the other day because I felt good about the outfit and how I have been losing body fat:
Recent best weights (last week)
My squats are waaayy behing: 5 reps @ 105
Deadlift: 2 reps @ 160
Bench press: 3 reps @ 115
5'8" and 154 lbs0 -

Sorry to go off the topic of the thread, but I was curious. If you power snatch 105, I reckon you could squat clean at least 170, and maybe near to your squat limit of 180. How's your technique?0 -
Heh. I hope I'm not considered "bulky"....but this extra fat is taking a little longer to take a hike than I'm happy about (I eat all the crappy food though!). As for lifting - well, here are my current numbers: Squat - 175-185#, Deads - 205-215#, OHP - 85-90#, thruster 110#, bench 105# (haven't checked recently). So yeah, I think I lift heavy. ATTENTION WH0RES UNITE! Love this.
Oh, I'm 5'5, 153#.
SKINNY JEANS!
THIS MORNING! I HAVE A "V"....I'm very excited about this!

Naked and flexing are your street clothes?
Figured I'd show what was under the clothes since people automatically assume having "big" muscles means being "bulky". I thought the variety of pics was a good demonstration that muscles do not equate to bulky. And what if I do walk around nekkid and flexing outside? What's it to ya?0 -
I'm 5'5, 135-ish pounds. I've slacked a bit on lifting the past few months. My highest for 5x5 is squat 160, deadlift 160, OHP 70, pendlay row 105, bench 100 in December when I was really pushing myself, but now I tend to hover around 125 for squat & dl, 60 for OHP and 85 for bench and row. I've been doing what I'd consider "heavy" strength training for a year and a half, but the first year was doing machines at the gym, and free weights at home since July 2012.
Semi-flexed...
I realized I don't have many photos of me in normal street clothes. :blushing:
Halloween:
Even my "normal" clothes aren't exactly normal.

Lift heavy, usually 5 reps, up to 8 when I feel adventurous. I hate cardio

Yes, I lift heavy, and yes, I am bulky... but that's just because I started out even bulkier! I bike ~1 hour a day because cycling is my main form of transportation, and since the beginning of January I've been lifting heavy three days a week.
This was taken after I'd been lifting for about a month (I also did 5 weeks of kettlebell classes in November)
I'm doing NRL4W. Today I deadlifted 3x8 150lbs, and the other day I squatted 3x8 135lbs.0 -
I've been lifting heavy for about 5 months. I'm 5'5" and currently 127-128lbs. All lifts are 5x5
Squats: 135
Deadlifts: 135
OHP: 55
Bench Press: 70
Bent Over Row: 75
ETA: Ack! Why won't my pic post???0 -

Bump...to show hubby that heavy doesn't = bulky!0

Naked and flexing are your street clothes?
I'm no genius either, but my guess is the pictures with her in clothing are the pictures of her in "street clothes" that the OP had requested, and the pictures of her naked and flexing are not.
I could be totally off base here.0 -
OP, I love the Halloween costumes you and your hubby are sporting!0

Let's try again....

I lift heavy! Love every bit of it.... Hope I'm not considered bulky :noway: Don't have time to upload other pics in photobucket to post other pics here; the site runs super slow at my job...0 -
Yes I lift heavy, I'd like to lift heavier. Working on that. OHP 50 lbs is the best I got. I was to 85 lbs squats 5x5 before I had to quit for ... reasons
And I'd like to be "bulkier" if that means bigger muscles Working on that too!
But no, I am not bulky. lol. See profile pic for me in street clothes0 -
Nevermind. You got it.0
