I've known 3 people who had bariatric surgery in the last 10 years. One died 2 weeks post-op from complications, 1 has gained all the weight back plus, and the third was successful in keeping her weight off. Honestly, I considered the surgery years ago, but after my friend passed away I cancelled my consultation appointment.
After reading all your posts & seeing all these pictures, I don't think I've ever been more inspired! 100+ pounds lost is a monumental accomplishment, and I'm bookmarking this thread to add my before & after pictures someday!!!0 -
I haven't hit the 100 lb mark yet, but soon. I've lost all of my weight through exercise and eating well. No surgery, pills, shakes, etc.

I am totally stunned, and yet also very excited by this thread. I am 54 now and have weighed over 280 lbs for about 15 years. I never believed it possible to lose a lot. I embarked on losing 100lb without surgery but since I did I am being told from many sources that it's not possible.
Now I see this thread - wow. I am blown away. That so many people have achieved it means that I can achieve it, too.0 -
Congratulations to everyone - to all the "losers" and to everyone else that has made the commitment to live a healthier life (as I have). Everyone's success stories are such an inspiration to me. Thank you all for sharing and keep up the good work!!0

As of last week, I'm at 90 pounds lost. I started at 319 lbs in December 2011 and am currently at 229 pounds. I refuse to have surgery, take diet pills, or any other fad. I count calories and exercise my *kitten* off (literally). I run 3 days a week, strength train twice a week, and do zumba my other 2 days.
Anything is possible with will power. I've had back surgery and struggled with degenerative disk/scolosis for years. It hurt to move; it hurt to sit still. Hell, it was going to hurt either way, so I got up and did something about it. You can do it!!!0 -

WOW! I totally agree with you! I didn't think it was possible either, and was just accepting that I would never be able to lose that much weight and would always be fat. All these people are beautiful, amazing, and inspiring0 -
I love reading these threads. It gives me hope, since I've got about 166 to lose. You guys are awesome!0

I'm not far off, 91.4lb down, won't be long as I'm currently losing around 2lb per week eating 1810 cals :drinker:
I have to say, besides you look absolutely fabulous!, that I am soooo happy to see you did not lose your boobs! I am well-endowed on top and I honestly hate the thought of losing my girls! I have dropped weight before w/out shrinking the melons, but there is that worry that this time they will go. :sad:0 -
Thanks to everyone for sharing their stories! For those of us still on this journey that still have a long road ahead, we see our future victories in you! Thanks for putting yourself out there to inspire us!0

No surgery for me, but I still have 65ish pounds to go! Except for a hysterectomy, but that did NOT help with weight loss.:happy:0
