Hey blue, I just happened to check in today, wasn't planning on it but I am glad I did. You are one of us:heart: The group would not be as much fun without you. I look forward to your posts and to these huge milestone that you have accomplished (seatbelt? need I say more)

meokk, you are awesome!!!! I love that you just sat down and wrote a song.

mstahl, your granddaughter is going to blossom under your care!! She sounds precious and like all she needs is a couple of people who love her and know her worth:flowerforyou:

sutts, I am with you I have needed to lose over 100 pounds since I had my 2nd daughter who is now 13. But we are going to do this!!! My son is 4 I want me being fat just to be a vague memory for him:flowerforyou:

lildeb, nice to see you!! how are those girls of yours?

Yesterday I happened to watch a home movie of my 39th birthday (which was a combined birthday for myself and 2 of my daughters, had one on my 23 birthday and the other 3 days after my 31 birthday) and I was just distraught. I had already lost over 20 pounds at that time but man did I look fat and ugly. I e-mailed my husband at work and said I am heartbroken I just saw the movie from my birthday and I looked fat and ugly. He e-mailed me back and said "you always look good to me" Then when he got home from work he sounded real hurt and he said "Never talk about my wife like that again" I was touched. He doesnt want anyone saying bad things about me even if it is me. I just thought he was sooo sweet and he is really sooooooo HOT:blushing:  :blushing:  Just ask his wife:blushing:

blue- DONT YOU DARE LEAVE US! I looove your posts so much, and everyone has a bad week here and there. It happens, life throws us curve balls, just stick to it...those 60lbs didnt lose themselves! Can I remind you of seatbealts, court room chairs, and long walks without getting winded?! You are already a champ in my eyes, keep going!:drinker:

    meook- IMPRESSIVE! Loved the song!

momma- you and your hubby are so cute:love:

So today is my 27th bday.Im sitting at home alone sulking. BFhad to work, and my friends are all not returning my call. I took my son out for a little bit but hes sick yet again so now hes napping. I just feel kinda lonely today :frown: I am also debating on whether I should let myself 'celebrate' my bday like I want to. I am sooo PMSy and I am craving bad food so badly. It IS my bday but I just keep reminding myself that there are other ways to celebrate and that I will regret eating poorly in the morning. Lets hope I can keep this mind frame as I sit here alone sulking.

On a brighter note- saw 219 on the scale this morning but then brushed my teeth and it was back to 221! lol. I really should stop brushing my teeth!  jk, I know Im just dehydrated when I first get up. I always take the higher weight, so still at 221 for me.

Happy First Day of Spring everyone ENJOY!!

Momma, your hubby is the best man on the planet. I feel all tingly when you tell us about how much he loves you! You got a real keeper there!

cris - HAPPY BIRTHDAY!!!!! :flowerforyou: :flowerforyou: :flowerforyou: For your birthday I am going to get you a new toothbrush! ROFL And you're right - there are other ways to celebrate, but if you so choose to party hearty, remember that your birthday only comes once a year! :smokin: Tomorrow is a new day, and unless you are in Alice In Wonderland, you won't be celebrating your un-birthday every day!

I finally took my measurements. I had to buy a double long tape measure to do it. :ohwell: Oh well, at least I did it, right? The results made me ill, but at least I know I will never see those numbers again!
    Off to my massage!
  • I everyone! Im new to this site, and saw this thread, and you woman make me smile!! My start weight was 268 on 3-18 and down to 262.5 today. I really want to form friendships that will help me thru this long road. I cant wait to get to know you guys!

    CuteJelly - Welcome !!!

Momma - funny your story about Hubby is kinda like mine...he gets upset when i am talking how big i am he loves me no matter what size and tell me all the time :):)

Girls are doing good, the little on had a horrible ear infection this week.. She down for like 2 days. Talked to the ENT yesterday and they are putting tubes in her ears on Friday.

I swear i am not going to weight in till after i eat :)

Last two days I got on the scale 1st thign (5:30 when i am woken up by a 3 yr old), then i get on the scale a little later and it is less...This morning 1st thing it was 285 (which had me disappointined), then like 3 hrs later after breakfast, i was sitting at 283.7

LilDebbie - I'm glad to hear you have a date to get your little one's ear tubes in. I think you're both going to be much happier once that's over and her immune system will take care of the rest! How is it going with your Wii Fit? Do you still like it/ use it? I think it's great you're walking barefoot. I'm thinking about getting those barefoot shoes for running after I wear the one's I have now completely out! Even with these shoes I am trying to land more 'mid-foot' to lessen the impact on my knees and it seems to work...

cutejelly - Love your screen name! Welcome to the thread :flowerforyou: - as a warning every week we start a new thread so keep an eye peeled for Awestfall's post where she puts the new link! There are a couple threads on here for those of us who have REAL weight to lose and some of us just stick on this one and some of us post to several of them :-D You'll love MyFitnessPal!!! My advice is to log every bite of food and/or beverage that passes your lips every day! If you are away from the computer for a few days go back and take a stab at putting in your foods or approximates! It really helps you see where your calories are coming from. And post to this thread (and/or others) having friends here to share my ups an downs helps me out more than anything!

BlueNote- I'm sorry you feel down and I can totally relate to your job situation:grumble: ! I've been on a rollercoaster for months and it's not a FUN roller coaster! You've been such a help to me in my weight loss journey  and I love you for that! I sure hope I can help you just a little! You're doing amazing and you're already healthier than most people half your weight:flowerforyou: ! Bad eating alone is not what got you here, nor did one or one hundred bad weeks.:ohwell: You have done things right FAR more often than you've had bad days so there's not magic number where all the sudden you've fallen off some mythical wagon! You are still on the road to health even if you can't see over the little hill in front of you. WE can see you and we see you right there with us putting one foot in front of the other!:drinker: We are with you every step and stumble and we're not leaving! SO THERE

Chris - (sung to the 1812 overture) HAPPY HAPPY BIR-FIN-DAY, HAPPY HAPPY BIR-FIN-DAY, HAPPY HAPPY BIR-FIN-DAYYYYYYYY, HA... PEE... BIRF... IN ... DAY!!!!! :flowerforyou: exercise while your little man sleeps and then when he wakes up bundle him up and get him out in some fresh air for a walk - it will do you BOTH some good! Drink lots of water and tonight have about half the things you crave and savor every single bite. Focus on the food and the feeling and enjoy small portions. Go over a little and exercise more tomorrow and work it off! It's your birthday - the important part is that you're giving yourself the gift of health and a little enjoyment is part of that!

lstPaul - I hope you can get up to your aunt's place this spring! I would be nice to be able to plant some vegetables or berry bushes even if your family hasn't decided what to do! There's something to the feeling of planting your own food in the soil at a family home that makes it extra awesome.

Momma - you're husband is awesome! And you're on your way to the body you'll be comfortable seeing on screen. Just remember that camera added pounds and you're taking them off either way. Go for a bike ride and enjoy the weekend - take a nice walk and enjoy the sunshine (we have it here and it's wonderful!) And enjoy that hot husband too :blushing:

LittleSpy- hope you're having a great weekend! Our pack is lounging in the back yard sunbathing and occasionally barking at the horses, before circling a few more times and flopping back down. :smokin: Even our beagle is taking it easy! Normally the first sign of spring and she has her hard hat on and is tunneling under the fence! How did the cheese come out last night?

Heather - riding this weekend? I'm going to dig out some curry combs and see if I can find a pony under all the brown fluff walking around my pasture!:indifferent:

Jess - how are you doing? Did you go out for St. Patty's day? I had no green beer - I love good beer and generally that's not what they color green LOL!:drinker:

ColoradoGirl - hope all is going well and you're enjoying your first day of spring!

Solandra - WHERE ARE YOU????? come back please!:frown:

Awestfall - I was thinking of you when I was running my Week Two Day One of the 5K101 - 2minutes and 30 seconds of jogging and I was afraid I was going to die. HOW CAN YOU RUN AN HOUR??? I'm running with fancy shoes on a padded indoor track and my knees and hips hurt. You are a SUPER WOMAN!:drinker:

Snowflake - how's the snow holding out? My sister and her family have a ski-in ski-out house at Northstar in Tahoe and they always try to milk every last bit of snow they can get! I like their location in the summer when the trails are open to horses

Meokk - you live somewhere near me (I think) because we seem to have similar weather? I'm in Northeast Ohio - where it's amazingly beautiful today! Our pasture is mud but even with that I'm tempted to walk to the back and watch the birds building nests by our bog... I mean swamp... I mean "wetlands" :ohwell:

Steph - it was nice hearing form you again - I hope you come back often!

Positively_Me - my husband made a batch of yogurt that wasn't as thick as normal but after straining it, it seemed fine! He's so into this yogurt making it's cute. He's down in the kitchen making a batch now! I can't thank you enough for helping me get started - I think Greek yogurt is the most important part of my diet! YUM!

I know I'm forgetting a ton of you - my brain can't remember your screen names but that doesn't mean I'm not thinking of you and missing you!

I finished Day One of Week Two of the 5K101! I really did it! Whooot! Then I ate all my exercise calories when I had a strawberry/banana smoothie at the snack bar. WTH. But I'll get on the elliptical machine later and earn some more back. I also swam (meaning - wore a bathing suit in public!:embarassed: ) but I can't even swim a lap doing the crawl I have to do the side stroke or float on my back while I recover.

I hate to admint i haven't done my wii fit in ages...my batteries in my board died and i just never charged them..I need to do that and start getting into that again...Only walk on the games barefoot :) My hubby wants those shoes, he thinks they will be awesome. I really do think my tennis shoes have something to do with my prolbems walking with my ankles and calfs, they jsut don't fit right, the way of the laces are and such..In the past I always had new balances and they fit pretty good..i tried my pair on i used to go walking in and they don't fit  My dang kids made my feet grow .

Wow Mstahl:happy: ... you do such a good job of remembering so many people in our group ... I always struggle to remember the few comments I think of as I'm reading through all the great posts. We are still working on ideas about how to keep my Aunt's house, we are meeting tomorrow to talk through some of them. I'll keep you posted. Thanks for remembering me.

Bluenote ... I was happy to see all the responses you got to your post about not belonging here ... you not only belong, we NEED you here! I have had days when I think I should stop posting with our group because I've been stuck at the same weight for so many months and don't feel like I"m really 'trying' like I should .... but then I know that I NEED all of you to help me keep trying, we are in this for the long haul ... together!

Renae_Kay ... I have the same problem that you do ... good most of the day and then eat way more than I should at night ... we'll just keep working on it together, we need to learn to replace those bad eating habits with some other things. We CAN do this! :flowerforyou:

    Happy Birthday Cris! :flowerforyou:

Congrats on such a sweet hubby Momma!:smooched:

    Welcome Newbies!

I know I"m late checking in ... but am happy to report that I finally lost the weight I gained back in the fall and I'm ALMOST 20 pounds down again .... next week I hope to get there! It was an odd week to lose weight since I haven't been exercising as much since I hurt my back ... but I'm sure all the 'butt kicking' I was doing the last few weeks finally showed. Now I just have to keep going, and work on my bad eating habits more.

Well, I am really excited. I started behaving myself and getting on track on Monday. I have lost 6 pounds this week. I know that it is only the first week and I know that I have a lot to lose but I just wanted to share this success with everyone.
  • HonestOmnivore
    HonestOmnivore Posts: 1,356 Member
Sutts - that's AWESOME! I know you hear that it's mostly water weight but what you don't hear is that the water weight you lose that first week is energy stores! So you body will replace them over time but it will have to BURN either eaten food calories or better yet FAT to do that! YAY YOU!!! MFP suggests a 2lb/week goal when you have the calorie deficit to do that - anything faster can push the limits of safe.

That being said I lost 10-12 pounds my first few months! Make sure you REMEMBER these times when you hit a plateau - I'm still trying to get used to the slow/zero weight loss phases. Right now I'm kinda stuck but it hasn't been long enough to be a 'real' plateau and I have actual REASONS for it - like I've been eating too much LOL:laugh:

Renae_Kay - OK I admit it! I couldn't remember which came first the Kay or the Renae! I'm lame (:embarassed: ) I think about you all the time and I keep thinking how you need to stock your kitchen with healthy food and pack stuff to take with you to school - like LOTS of fruit not just one orange, and a healthy sandwich, and eat a good breakfast like with yogurt or low-fat milk and oatmeal with peanut butter in it so you can last! That way when you get home you won't be starved for dinner! Get your mom to get rid of all the junk food! I even leave my cash at home so I'm not tempted by the vending machines at work! An evil co-worker buys me junk and leaves it on my desk but I pass it along about 89% of the time! (we won't talk about the other 20%). You are ON YOUR WAY and you're going to DO THIS!

lstPaul - I only remember people because I FREAKING STALK THIS THREAD! I'm a MFP junkie! Some can't keep away from the scale, some of us have MFP issues:laugh:
  • bluenote
    bluenote Posts: 2,930
Sutts, I am so happy for you! Congrats on your first MFP loss! :flowerforyou:

mstahl - I love that you and cris are our official stalkers. You both keep me laughing and motivated! I do not know what I'd do without this thread. I agree with you, lstpaul - you peeps on this thread keep me going!

I went for a massage today, but they were booked (I go to the cheaper place because I am poor! LOL), so I made an appt. for tomorrow. BUT...today, instead of the massage, I went for my 20 lb. and 40 lb. manicure and pedicure! I have the cutest nails in St. Lou. I decided since I have a little extra cash right now from taxes I was going to spend some on me and make up for those two treats I missed along the way. It's amazing how great I feel just looking at my nails! Does anyone else feel that way after a mani? I feel all pretty and stuff. :blushing: I think I really needed it. I've been so down and stressed!

I had a very good, clean, eating day. I am so proud of myself! Thank you everyone for feeling my pain and lifting me up from this darkness. I love you all. I mean it!
    check in:
    cals: clean and great!
    water: going for 70 now
exercise: 40 + 10 bike plus arms. I think I may go for a walk tonight with my neighbor. :noway:
proud: I treated myself for a LONG overdue mani and pedi and I feel great about it.

YAY LilDebbie! Good job tracking on the weekend!

My husband read my blog (he never reads that stuff) and decided to "help" me stay on track today. oh yay me :ohwell: Just call me Awestfall because after the gym this morning with 5K101 program and swimming - I spent 45 minutes on the elliptical machine tonight! YIKES!

BlueNote- I LOVE getting a pedicure! I think my toes look amazing when they have fire engine red nails!:blushing: But it's been awhile and they're a bit tatty at the moment...

Checking in because once I sit down I doubt I'll be able to move again tonight!

Calories - I'll have eaten about half of my exercise calories
Water - still working on it but I'm determined to get it all in tonight! I have two bottles with me now!
Exercise - 30 mintues 5K101 (ten whole minutes of that was jogging!~!!) 15 minutes in the pool (some laps) and 45 minutes on the elliptical machine!

Proud - that I got on that damn elliptical machine and that I'm not eating all of my exercise calories!!! (although I am going to have a glass of red:love: wine:laugh: )

You folks are so inspiring, I just can't stop reading about your successes. Bluenote, you have lost so much weight. You are my inspiration!! Well, I was doing great until 7 tonight when friends had me over for chinese take out :frown: I can't believe I caved and ate a full plate. It only lasted 10 minutes and now I feel so guilty, so my check in is really bad today.
    Cals - over by 600:embarassed:
water - still not enough - by the way, how much should I be drinking ?
exercise - very little - didnt' walk because I was painting and cleaning
Proud - I made myself check in tonight even though I really blew the day in a bad way
I really can't pull myself away from this board. You are all so supportive. I am so happy to have joined. By the way, I am a single mom of 3 kids. One is married and done school, one is in university and the youngest is a teenage. I really have to succeed this time because I am starting to get crippled up and have high blood pressure. Anyway, have a great night everyone. Thanks again for letting me be part of this amazing group!

    check in from yesterday

    calories: a little over
exercise: zumba, raked leaves, walked dogs
    water: yes
proud: went to the gym even though it was beautiful outside
  • LittleSpy
    LittleSpy Posts: 6,754 Member
    03.20.10
    Calories: 1442
Exercise: 2 hours of driving (I wasn't aware driving burns so many more calories than just sitting around watching tv - around 100 more an hour!) & 6.5 hours outside working with kids - photoshoot. It's a more physical job than you may think, especially set up & tear down. Then 1 hour of running around with my dogs outside. It was like 75-80 & sunny, there was no way I was staying inside no matter how tired I was from working all day.
    Water: around 8 cups
Proud: ? I went to the thrift store where I used to work (it's part of a no-kill animal shelter/adoption center) to look at clothes and bought 2 pairs of size 14 pants, a pair of size 12 pants and a pair of Euro size 36 pants without paying attention to how big the waist actually is. I didn't try any of the pants on because I didn't expect any of them to really fit right now. When I got home, I realized the Euro size 36s are the equivalent of a size 4. :noway: Shoot for the moon, right?
They're REALLY awesome/unique pants and I loooovvvveee them. I have to lose 10 inches off of my waist before I'm going to be able to wear them. But then I think about how I had to lose 9 inches off my waist to fit into the skirts that were so awesome and beautiful that I can wear now. And when I think of it that way, I realize I may actually be able to wear those pants someday! Well, maybe. When I showed them to my boyfriend he was like, "um.... I think those are for a much smaller person -- like for someone who doesn't have any bones." They are unbelievably small. I've known people who wear a size 4 and they didn't some that insanely tiny. I figured a size 6 or 8 will be the smallest I'll get, but we'll see. If I can't ever wear them, I'm just fine with donating them back to the thrift store & counting it as a $2.00 cash donation to the puppies.

The good news is that I could squeeze into the size 12s, and both of the size 14s felt the same as the 12s so I think they've been washed many times (they're 100% cotton). I'm comfortably in a size 14 when I try on new pants. So, yay! I'll have a few pairs of pants to wear in 10-15 pounds.

Also, I saw a 20- on the scale this morning  The highest one I could've seen, 209.8, but I'LL TAKE IT! (edit -- stepped on it again and it said 209.2 3x in a row -- even better!)

:flowerforyou: Chris - CONGRATS ON THE ENGAGEMENT!!!:flowerforyou:

(I'll admit - I'm a big ol' cynic when it comes to marriage but I'm happy for your happiness!) I do wedding photography on the side (so does Solandra's husband) so if you have any questions about that part of your wedding planning feel free to ask! My photography site is http://www.squibphotography.com

LittleSpy- CONGRATULATIONS on getting to the "Oughts" as in 2 ott 9 :) You have earned that - 4SURE!

Sutts - I love that you're hanging out with us now! YAY!

I got on the scale this morning and it said 181.6 ! Sure I was a little dehydrated but I'll take it! Learning from Chris, I was careful to avoid brushing my teeth until after I'd checked again - it still said 181.6 so I changed my ticker!!! WHOOT! that means I'm down 30 lbs from my 're-start' back in October :-D I'm also at my lowest weight in at least 7 years!

I'm going to make a fritata for brunch today and then a light supper. Wednesday AM is my last weigh in for our office Biggest Loser competition and I really want to at least come in second! I'd like to keep my calories under 1400 for the next couple days to help with that!

Wow! I have missed a ton in just a short period of time!! I came to Tulsa, Oklahoma to see my cousin for the weekend and guess what? We got pounded with snow and so did Dallas last night! Soo...I'm stranded in Tulsa, Oklahoma. Hopefully tomorrow it warms up so I can make the drive back to Dallas. Another day off of work wooohooo!!! I know I missed a lot but I read everything and think I'm caught up. So on a couple of notes....

Cris congrats on getting engaged!! That is soooo great and what a way to lift your spirits!! That is going to be awesome motivation to fit into your wedding dress and look absolutely stunning on your wedding day.

Bluenote-Everybody has bad weeks and you have done absolutely amazing and look how far you have come? Put that bad week behind you and start this week with a bang! I love seeing your posts and look forward to seeing plenty more!

I haven't counted calories since Friday but I think I'm okay. I got on the Wii Fit with my cousin yesterday and it doesn't look like I have put on any weight. She's really good at not snacking and not making lots of junk for us to eat. We did quite a bit of walking yesterday when we went out shopping. Her husband works at a comfort shoe store so we went there yesterday and I spent an hour at least trying on shoes. I bought some bran spanking new Nike running shoes that feel like butter when i wear them. Bought a new pair of work dress shoes so I am good to go! Due to my weight I have developed some feet problems (which are improving thankfully!) Hope everybody is having a good weekend! Cross your fingers I can get back to Dallas tomorrow!

Littlejlb - well, you are little jlb now! - I am so happy for you with your small pants self! :flowerforyou: European sizes are always extremely small and look like only half of a person could wear them. Most Europeans are very thin -at least the ones I've encountered! I lived in Ireland for six months and France for three and those clothing stores were killing me! In Dublin they had one 'plus size' women's store - you know what the sizes were? American 12-16!!!!!!! :noway: In Paris they had NO sizes bigger than an American 10!!!

OK I do not want to alarm you all and fly off my hormonal wagon again, but.......I gained another two pounds from yesterday. :grumble: Something is awry with my body and I am bound to find out what the hell is going on. I'm also overhauling my bike routine and adding more intensity, so let's see if that helps. I know that I can't expect miracles on that scale after I spent seven days eating like a madwoman, but I'd like to get on just once and not gain! :noway:

    check in:
    cals: great - very clean!
    water: perfect
exercise: increased the intensity level of my pedaling!
proud: I am not giving up

Don't worry BlueNote - that's just regular water and what's not (poop!) fluctuation! Yes - I am telling you that you are full of crap  That's what you get eating healthy foods!

    Checking in for today!

Calories - a few hundred under on purpose - starving out a few days before my Biggest Loser weigh in!
Water - double fisting it right now! I'll be fine by tonight!
Exercise - today was my recovery day so DH insisted we at least walk two miles :)

Proud - that I've kept my calories low for two days and I'm drinking water! Don't worry - not planning on going into starvation mode so I'll eat at least 1200 tomorrow!

Edited to tell this story on myself - I have a glass of wine tonight and I budgeted for it but only one glass. To help me save it for a couple hours I have a candle lit, and sitting between me and my wine glass so if I reach for it without thinking I'll get singed. Yes - I will attempt to go through flames to get my wine! It's working - I have a water bottle right beside me so I get singed then remember and drink the water

    HI everyone.
    I'm just checking in.
cals are 200 under only because I walked today
water - trying but still not enough
    exercise - walked one hour
proud - that I am so lucky to have found all of you and am reaching out for your support

Back to work tomorrow, with a supper meeting - I'll have to be careful.
It is pretty funny that I live in northern Canada and we have no snow. It is incredibly early for us to lose our snow and you ladies have snow down south. Strange weather happenings.:ohwell:
    Talk to you all later.

BLu - Sorry about the 2lbs, but I bet it will bed back down tomorrow..just water and poop I belive

LittleSpy - WTG on the pants!!! My sister wears a 2 or 4 and she is skinny , my hubby thinks she is wayyyyy to skinny...She isn't short either, she is like 5'6. realistically i will never be that small...she is very tiny boned and I am very large boned...I mean she wears like a size 6 shoe and i wear and 11...I think the smallest that i would like to be is like a 8 or so.

Jess - Yes !!!! We got lots of snow...i am like HELLO!! It was in the 70's on friday and freaking cold now. We got about 4-5 inches of snow...of course it is all melted now. Hope you had a good trip back.

    Checking in for 03.21.10
Calories: not sure exactly, but my estimation is that I'm under 1600. Chinese food -- sesame chicken & white rice, so not the healthiest option (but also not the absolute worst) but I didn't eat much the rest of the day so I'm good.
Exercise: Just me being goofy -- I danced around and played various musical instruments (flute, accordion, recorder, spoons... yes, spoons) for about 2 hours. Yes, it was ridiculous but it was so rainy outside and I was so bored & not interested at all in watching tv or actually being productive. :ohwell:
    Water: Just awful
Proud: About halfway through my chinese food I realized I wasn't hungry anymore so I stopped eating it. I didn't want it to be around for me to peck on later, so I gave it to my boyfriend. Which means he overate... But he would've just found something else unhealthy to eat anyway. :indifferent:

My boyfriend has decided he wants to play tennis with me! I've never really played tennis, but I'm excited for us to have something sportyish to do together. We have a regular date with a married couple so we're going to try to get them to play doubles with us. I've been friends with the guy since high school & we lived together for a couple semesters when he moved down here to go to law school. He struggles with his weight but he's really athletic so I think it's something we can all have fun doing together that will help keep us fit.

Also, I'm taking accountability and admitting I've completely failed on the sit-up, squats, push-up challenge. I don't know why I can't "find time" to do it. :ohwell: I WILL do it. Seriously -- I'm kicking my butt again this week.
