Was at Goodwill yesterday -- got 1 shirt for me and 6 shirts for my hubby to be.
Getting 50% off certain tag colors and military discount, we paid $17.62.
Here's my BEST Goodwill snag.
My wedding dress for $3.50 -- brand new - still with the original David's Bridal's tags on the dress. And the dress was in my size.
My wedding shoes for $2.00 -- brand new - still with original packaging materials and tags.
I am not joking..... my wedding day outfit (dress & shoes) cost me $5.50.
Last week, got a brand new fleece coat (still with original tags) for $4.50.
I am a big fan of thrift/second hand stores from any organization.0 -
I wont shop at thrift stores. I can't get over the fact that someone else worn that piece of clothing. I don't know what they were like and what they did in that outfit. :noway:0

I shop in charity shops quite often as I don't want to pay too much for clothes that will only fit me for a few months, and they often have good clothes - I wash before I wear (which is what you should do with brand new clothing aswell).
BARGAIN: I found a monsoon ballgown that usually costs £250 and picked it up for £40!0 -
I know how many brand new clothes I've sent off to Goodwill (never fit/lost the receipt/never got around to wearing/gift that was way off target) and have no issues whatsoever stopping at Thrift Stores of any kind. :flowerforyou:0

Shouldn't the people that shop at thrift stores be really excited for those that like to purchase new? Without them... you'd have nothing to wear
Really nothing of value to add. Just a thought. Instead of condemning those that purchase new, just let it go. It's like the "Why you should be xyz because I said so" argument all over again.0 -
I find all kinds of brand name athletic wear with the tags still on it for $3.38 or less for each piece at our Good Wills (we have 6). I also found a brand new pair of Asics in the exact style, color and size I had always wanted but never wanted to pay for, I would have paid over $100 at another store for them, but paid $12 there! I don't really like Salvation Army around here because they are all really dirty!0

I've known plenty of people who wear and return clothes to stores.
Just sayin'.0 -

No, I'm not poor.
Rude.
I am not poor and I go to Thrift Shops often. I got VS PINK Hoodies for like $6, those things are like $50 a piece new!0 -

I have that issue, but I pretty much won't buy things unless they are brand new or look brand new, but as some one else said about people wearing things and returning them. I always just wash things immediately when I get home.0 -
YOU DON'T KNOW WHERE NEW CLOTHES HAVE BEEN EITHER. eVER HEARD OF PEOPLE WEARING THE CLOTHES AND BRINGING THEM BACK TO THE STORE? IT HAPPENS MORE OFTEN THEN NOT. THAT'S WHY YOU SHOULD WASH YOUR CLOTHES BEFORE YOU WEAR THEM.
this is off topic, but is your caps lock broken? S:0 -
I say to those who don't shop at the thrift stores, thanks, that leaves more of the great name brands and prices for me to choose from.:laugh:0

I donate to thrift shops frequently, but I can't bring myself to shop there. I don't want "pre worn" clothes. Ya just never know where they've been.
Umm you don't know where your clothes have been either that you purchase from a regular clothing store. And this is coming from a person who worked in retail!0 -
i LOVE thrift stores. I am not poor by any means, but that doesnt mean i enjoy throwing my money away. I have two small children that grow out of clothes weekly, so why spend $20 on a shirt for them that they will grow out of tomorrow? And right now, i am wearing a Ralph Lauren denim blazer that i found at goodwill for $10, so, thank you lady that donated it!
And... its not like i buy stuff at thrift stores and then throw it on. wash it first for crying out loud.0 -
i love thrift stores..still decent clothes at less than half the price of brand new clothes..plus, im a tight-wad:laugh:0

No, I'm not poor.
I'm not poor either. Largely because I spend my money wisely, such as purchasing perfectly good second hand merchandise.0 -

So, eBay then?0 -
Yes I love to thrift shop and have been doing it since middle school. Its great for when you are losing weight because you can keep picking up your current size for cheap. The best deals Ive gotten have been $20.00 for a Ralph lauren Leather mini skirt, $20.00 black leather Jacket ,Juicewoman juicer for $15.00 that I saw online for $200.00 and a Tanita Digital scale for $12.00 that measures body fat! The scale was brand new but donated by Target because the box was torn!!0

Log on to your favorite porn website and do a search on "dressing room". I am sure you will find all kinds of naughty videos of women trying on clothes and engaging in sexual acts. But don't worry, I bet EVERY item they tried on fit them AND they decided to purchase it.0
