Unsweetened Almond milk is really good, I don't really like to drink actual cow's milk, but cheese is divine.0

I don't touch the stuff, I drink rice milk, almond milk and a little soy milk, all organic for me.0

DONT DRINK IT!! Milk and all dairy products are not all that good for you. I found that dairy was the main contributor to insulin resistance and inflamation that I had. Once I eliminated dairy I felt much better and my joints all felt awesome. I had such bad inflamation that I didnt even know it, I had grown so accustomed to it that I thought it was normal. Within 3 days of giving up dairy I noticed a signifcant improvement. I also always had ringing in the ears and that went away too.
you also said you were 300 pounds in the past0 -
Whichever one fits your macros. For me, Almond/Coconut blend. YUM!0

1.5% local farm dairy milk delivered straight to my door step every Tuesday morning! I'm allergic to nuts so I've never tried almond milk. I do like organic unsweetened vanilla non-GMO soy milk also.0

Growing up we usually had 2%. Sometimes, if my mom went on a diet she would by skim milk for herself and keep buying 2% for the rest of us. Eventually she just started buying 1% for all of us so she didn't have to get two different kinds of milk. We really didn't go through milk very fast so it didn't make sense to have 2 opened gallons. When I left for college I went back to 2%. When I got married I discovered my hubby grew up on Whole Milk. I still bought 2%, but every once in while would get whole since he likes it. When our first kid turned one, the doctor told us to give him whole milk for the fat content so we switched to whole milk. I honestly can't tell the difference in flavor between 2% and whole milk so if my kids didn't need the fat from the whole milk (seriously, my 2 1/2 year old doesn't weigh 30 lbs yet and can still wear 18 month clothes) I would switch to 2% since it's cheaper.0

2%. I can't afford to be buying organic, especially, when the "organic" is questionable. So f**k it, I just buy the generic milk with all the bull**** extras, now. All our food is officially contaminated one way or another, so I give in and just eat whatever I want. So far, so good.0

find a local farmer and it probably wont be that pricey. organic eggs are like $5 a dozen. I found them locally for 2.50 a dozen from a farmer.
I recently switched to organic stuff, and for 2 weeks worth of groceries I think I spent another 40 dollars than usual.
Not a big inconvenience, and if I can eat a bit healthier and support companies that do things correctly, its worth it to me.0 -
Organic whole milk. Closest to raw you can get It's the least processed milk before you go raw and raw isn't available anywhere near me or else I would get that.0

nothing was shown to be difference
TBH humans arent organic. we have antibiotics, drugs to keep us alive, etc.
when it comes to animal treatment it is different. I try to buy stuff that promote range free, etc.
I am a meat eater but I am against animal cruelty0 -
Full fat, raw, and grass fed -- I'm fortunate to know someone who raises dairy cows.

I never bought into the whole organic veggies are healthier idea or anything.
But the organic foods are missing the crappy ingredients that I don't want to consume. I don't eat anything with hydrogenated oils or HFCS.
The meats and eggs is more about
1. treatment of the animals
2. rather you think the organic is healthier or not, the organic farms are held to higher standards
3. i believe what the cow eats affects the quality of its meat. grass fed = better.
Worst case I spend 60-80 bucks extra a month buying local foods, and supporting businesses that use quality ingredients and farms that take care of their animals. The meat/dairy industry is atrocious so I'm trying to make some changes, but I refuse to be a vegetarian.
I still consume non organic veggies for now until I can grow enough of my own or until the farmers market opens for the year.
And for now I'm still eating some non organic beef, until I can find a farm source locally.yeah you may feel that way, but i personally don't use antibiotics and drugs if at all possible. and there are many others like me.

agreed.
I've started growing a lot of my own veggies this year to see what I can do on my own.0 -
1% or 2%...What's your opinion and why? Growing up we always drank Fat Free, now I drink 1% most of the time and sometimes 2%.
I sometimes drink 2%, half & half, buttermilk and whole milk but mainly I love my almond milk. Grew up drinking freshly milked cow's and goat's milk direct from source or via home delivery ~ boiled (< 10 mins@a particular temperature) before consumption though.0 -
I'm a skim drinker. Maybe it's all in my head, but I think the organic skim tastes better. Even the texture seems different. Although, I've been getting the Smart Balance skim with Omega 3s lately and that seems good. Both are much pricier.
Almond/coconut blend is awesome on cereal. Put that on some chocolate Cheerios and it's (almost) as good as ice cream for satisfying your sweet tooth with a whole lot less fat and calories and even some redeeming qualities.0 -

I stopped drinking cow's milk when I realized I was drinking the secretions of an animal outside of my own species. It got a little weird then.
I drink almond milk and coconut milk. Dark almond milk mixed with coconut milk is incredibly good.
Are you a vegetarian? If not, is it weirder drinking their nutritive secretions, or cutting them up into little pieces and eating their insides?
Nope, not a vegetarian. I prefer them for their higher nutritive values, and the fact that I'm not drinking something that was designed for calves to drink. No animal but human drinks milk from another species. It just seems weird to me.
That's just plan nonsense and not true. Dogs, cats and most other mammals will drink the milk of another species if it is made available. Drink what you want but don't insult people's intelligence with pretzel logic.
but those species don't go seeking it out voluntarily in the wild. we're talking about very extreme circumstances OR circumstances propagated by us.
i'm not sure it's a great reason to not drink milk... since your body has evolved through nature to be able to properly digest another species' milk... but it's fallaceous to say that animals willingly and purposefully seek out nourishment in the form of milk from other species unless they've been conditioned in some way or another to do so

in an extreme circumstance. like i said.
Whatever the circumstances, the person who's quote I bolded presented a false argument that is often presented in these milk threads. To quote "No animal but human drinks milk from another species.. They didn't say except under some rare condition or unless humans provide. They didn't qualify their false statement in any way.0 -
I like 2% when I drink milk, but as I don't drink it often, I rarely buy it. At one point when I was in a calorie crazy mindset (i.e. any extra calorie is unnecessary, omg don't add that, it's 2 calories!) I was on skim, but mostly because I was eating cereal at that point. Whole milk is fantastically like drinking cream, delicious, but not every time.0

oh who cares
no other animal drives cars, is as smart as us, can take multivitamins, reads a book, or has to watch what they eat.
so should we not practice anything because of what other animals do and do not do?0
