    Yes but it's getting media attention. Most of their clothes won't fit people with real bodies anyway so they will most likely still maintain their customer base. NOW, if they made a homophobic or racist comment, I guarantee that base would dwindle

    Every body has a real body. Saying that people who fit their clothes don't have a "real" body isn't any better than saying those who don't fit their clothes aren't cool or attractive.

    Well it's my opinion and it's mine to have. Their clothes are made for mannequins, those aren't real bodies now are they?

    Except that there are real people who wear their clothes, and even more who can fit their clothing, not just mannequins.

    That's nice, I don't really care though. I just like making my post count go up.

    I am pretty sure earlier in the thread I said I don't shop there because it makes me feel old because I hate the loud music and how dark it is (even when I wasn't as old). I had never even noticed the sizing because I only walked through the store.

    I don't understand how I am trolling at all. First time I have ever even been accused of it. Although its odd that someone who is arguing for the sake of a post count is accusing me of trolling....

    My thing is why can't plus sized women have the same cute things that the thinner people have? Why should we be look like we are wearing tarps for clothes or look like an 80 year old with floral print... Its whatever... I plan on losing the weight and you bet I will probably be in this store when I get where I want to be because I have never been able to wear that kind of stuff before. I don't agree with it but then again it is my body so if I want to fit into it I better do something about it... as I am doing. :-)

    I have a deep, personal issue with this type of thing because I was never the "skinny" chick and could never really fit into a lot of that small clothing (at my smallest, I was an 11). My sisters, however, were always the smaller ones and could fit into that stuff (size xs and m). This really always hit hard for me as a teen and I don't understand how the companies can continue to market an "ideal" shape/size to teens and young adults. To imagine that the pain I felt (and still feel at times) is being felt by a middle school/high school kid is a horrible thought and they should be taught that everyone is beautiful and should be able to wear whatever they want, regardless of if one person finds them "perfect enough". Besides, think of how many more clothes these stores would sell...

    There are a lot of stores out there that market to everyone, including plus size men and women that actually look nice, lol.

    I fit A&F clothing but it doesn't show my body off well.. it's designed for teens whose bodies have not fully finished developing yet, small thighs, a lot of low rise, no variety, poor quality, etc.. anyone who has lost weight but has wide hips, thighs, slender waist will get what I'm saying... I'm sure someone will try and pick that opinion apart too but yeah. Trust me, there are better brands out there to lose weight and fit into. :P Don't let it get you down

    The guy has issues, that is for sure. Are the young people wearing brand names now days? When I was a teen you wouldn't be caught dead with a logo or obviously some certain brand, after Varnet or whatever died off (thank god!).
    Anyhow, the lost opportunity of paying for overpriced crap is not something to rage over.

    Have to say the only place I've seen A&F clothes for sale is in my local thrift stores. :tongue: Never been across the threshold of the A&Fstore in the mall, can't see inside, no mannequins, no windows - just a big photo at the entrance of people NOT wearing clothes, and have to go right or left to get inside. I'll pass.

    Yeah, the company can do whatever they want, but way to cut off a good part of your market, and put yourself out there as quite the pompous windbag. :yawn:

    I've noticed that Victoria's Secret (I like to call Victoria's Secretions) doesn't have larger clothing or undergarments either.

    Probably middle school and elementary, actually, though that may just be because I live in the inner city.

    And yeah, they don't always carry large sizes. But my sister is a DDD, and she finds bras there just fine.

    They make nice winter sweaters.. Nothing wrong with that. I started as a size 16 (now size 6) and I found I could never find size 16 pants to buy (cause everyone wore the same size). Great motivator for me to lose weight lol

    i'm going to say something, even though i usually wouldn't, but i feel like everyone once again turned this into a controversial thing and made their posts extremely rude.

    i've never been thin. but i wasn't ever sickly obese. but i remember my mom taking me shopping (and dreading it) numerous times for school clothes so i could fit in with the other kids.
    you know what these shopping trips turned into? me crying, calling myself fat and hating the way i looked. i even had a lady come up to me in the dressing room begging me not to cry because she knows the stores only sell to skinnier people and it's bull****!

    to be honest, i'm glad this CEO or whatever said that comment. if i would have known which stores only sold to "attractive" people, it would have saved me a lot of heartbreak when i was young.

    The fact that more and more stores are going "plus-sized" because of society as a whole becoming more and more overweight. When I couldn't find a pair of jeans that fit me at my favorite clothing store it was my wake up call...

    They now carry that size and label it three sizes below what it's supposed to be.

    I believe Hollister has the same outlook, their employees are contracted as models not sales people which has got them into some legal bother (or at least I have heard) therefore if they wake up with a huge spot and are not model perfect they cannot go into work that day.

    I think it is an exclusive brand for a very specific market and if employees are willing to go along with this to be 'in the club' then I have no issues with it. I am a US 14 and have never had anything but good service at AF or Hollister, true not everything in there would fit or suit me at my current weight... but I will get there!

    You know, Lane Bryant really only hires plus-sized women to sell their clothes, and don't sell clothing smaller than a size 14. Is that an outrage? They don't really want to sell things to smaller sized people, and only market to larger people.


    Same thing if you ask me. Now, is the CEO guy kind of a pretentious *kitten* with his words? Sure, but he's not doing anything different than most other stores.

    I'm also ashamed of all the skinny bashing that I've been seeing lately. When I was obese, I was the victim of body shaming for being obese. Now that I am a size 4, I am being bashed still because I am lean. Women can't ever be happy, and we must always endure hate from other women. It's appalling.

    Don't shop there if you don't want to. It's as simple as that. I don't feel this rage towards Lane Bryant, and I don't feel this rage towards Victoria's Secret for not carrying 30G size bras which is what I wear now. I just shop somewhere else and move on with life.

    I can agree with that. My wake up call was similar...they carried my size, but I had jumped 3 sizes in the span of a few months. Many tears were shed that day!
