Hello everyone!

This group is being started to lend support and motivation to those who are TTC, or plan to TTC. This group blossomed from another group (Pregnancy - 2010).

Fit For Families is not for pregnant women, I would ask that you join our sister group for like-minded support and motivation (they're really great there!!).

Here's the link to he pregnancy board: http://www.myfitnesspal.com/topics/show/110947-pregnancy-2010-august?page=10 (it will lead you to their September link once it's up and running).

This group is very goal-oriented (no matter what your goals are) and I hope will be a place for you to come share your story and track your progress.

Check in will be each Monday to keep us accountable over the weekend. Each week we set our own fitness or health goals, and the more suggestions the better!

I love this group!

Welcome one and all!

    Good morning all.

So - I've been on hiatus. And may be for another few days.

Had a bit of a breakdown. Turning 30 today, with no kids, and having not made ANY progress with my weight goals. So last night at 11 I cried a LOT.

Oh - and yesterday was a BFN and today AF showed... yay.

I did get a fabulous new bag for my birthday http://www.momfinds.com/files/2010/04/lug-tuk-tuk-bag.jpg It's called a diaper bag, but I adore it because it has a place for shoes on the bottom (can't see it from this side). I just took the change pad out and now I have a cute new gym bag.

Hope everyone has a good day! I'm going to drown myself in good food for the rest of the day, and start over tomorrow. Again.

    Hi,

Can I join this group? My husband and I decided a couple months ago that we want to TTC. I havn't been getting a normal period due to all of the exercise I was doing in order to loose weight. I was down to 140... but am back up to 148 because I had to stop working out. I don't want to gain any more weight back. I had to cut back my work outs drastically over the past month and last friday I got my normal period (YEA) so we are going to seriously start trying now.

This means I can't work out like crazy anymore and really need to watch my eating (which is so hard for me).

Goals for this week: No snacking after dinner, No more than 1 pop per day, No more than one unhealthy snack per day (chips, crackers, candy).

Absolutely AnneElise! Welcome! Congrats on TTC.

I should post the link to the previous thread (oops!). http://www.myfitnesspal.com/topics/show/123895-fit-for-future-families-2?page=14

Ron - I meant to tell you - I love the pic of you in the bridemaid's dress! Beautiful!

Happy November!!! Ahhhhh…….the month of pumpkin roll and pumpkin pies. I think it will be a difficult month for me.

    SW: 204
    LW: 157
    CW: 157

No change this week, but I had a really bad few days so I’m happy. Tonight is my first Zumba class, I’m so nervous but really excited. I think it will be good for me to step outside of my comfort zone and try something new.

    Welcome AnneElise!!!

Thanks jalara and ericaroo, this is the 11th wedding I’ve been in and I’ve had my fair share of horrible dresses, so it was nice to actually have one I liked and felt comfortable in.

Jalara, remember that you have made progress! The number on the scale isn’t the only indicator. You are much heather and more aware of what you are eating. That is a huge thing. And trust me, you're not the only one who has bad days. ::hugs::

Out of the 6 weddings I was a bridesmaid in, I only ended up with two dresses I liked and wore again... and I got to pick one of them.

134 this morning. October was not a good month for me, though I did manage to still lose. I WILL be working out tonight and getting back in the groove.

Officially out of the two week wait, which always bumps up my motivation. And now I have a clearblue easy fertility monitor that a friend has loaned me. I'm hoping it makes all the difference and we can get a BFP before hitting the one year mark. But if not, I'm at least doing better on the disappointment front. I don't spend an entire day sobbing when I know I won't be pregnant and my friend's pregnancy announcement at our Halloween party only left me in a funk for a few hours instead of days. Probably, I'm coming to terms with the fact that our life just may not have our own children in it.

    Thanks for the welcome :D

My husband and I have been wanting to try for a baby for about 3 months now but couldn't because I wasn't ovulating. I am really hoping this month will work out but I know it will probably take a while longer. BUT i figure might as well get healthy now!

It's November...wow where did the year
    go?

Jalara: Happy Birthday! I'm sorry you're
feeling down but we do all have our
down days. Make this day as special
    as you deserve!

Ron: Have fun at Zumba tonight I really
    enjoy it!

    Welcome AnnaElise!

As for me I completely over ate this week-
end. My bday was on Sat so we ate out
two times that day. DH and I went out of
town to go shopping but we did go
bowling instead of going to a movie
so at least a burned a few cals. :)
Still in the 2WW praying i get a belated
bday surprise :) I did feel nauseous
three days last week but i'm not sure
if i would experience symptoms that
early so i'm just waiting to test.

    Have a great day everyone!

Goodmorning Ladies and Happy November/Monday! November is one of my favorite months so I am superexcited..plus there is always something about the 1st of the month that makes you feel good bc it's a new beginning and this month it even falls on a Monday!!

So, I'm going to bust my butt to lose these last 4lbs...I really feel like i've hit another plateau. I had a BAD food weekend (drinking, eating whatever, McDonalds TWICE..).ugh just all around bad. But today is a NEW day! and I am happy for it!

Started good this morning and holding strong. I have some early mornings this week, which means i'll probably have some early evenings but once we hit that time change this weekend it is on! 5:30am here i come! Walk/Jog EVERY morning! I need to get into a good workout routine...I MIGHT start doing Jillian Micheals again...I know that i am finally close enough to goal that now i need to start toning what i've lost and work on losing inches! The stress i'm getting from work and school are NOT helping thought...Boo...I'll be SO glad when my current job contract is up. I've already told my temp agency that I want to go Part time, no questions. She tried to tell me "Oh well I worked full time and went to school full time the whole time I was in college..." and I was like "Yeah, but i'd like to be able to see my family!" So looks like my plan of getting my son out of daycare just went out the window...she has a part time job for me but it looks like it would be 12-5 M-F which means i'd have to schedule my classes in the morning...which would be fine...just not saving us any money like we'd hoped.

Just wanted to drop in! You all are doing so well keeping fit, and getting your bodies ready for a baby. I cant wait to have some of you transfer over to the Prego board! We need some company over there! Keep it up, and in no time you will get the BFP!!!

Phew - my weekend is just winding down now. So I wasn't so good on the food front. I had 100+ days logged in here and I'm not 100% convinced that I logged in on Sunday.....Saturday we decided to take them out to dinner and went to a local diner. I ordered a relatively healthy grilled chicken with rice and garden salad with greek vinagrette. It came out and the plate was the size of a place mat. So I focused on eating the salad with some of the chicken and took home the rest for DH's lunch @ work the next day. We went grocery shopping on Saturday to make sure I got them enough to eat - they are pretty picky and so I grabbed things that I normally wouldn't have (like regular pop, chips, cookies, sugar cereal). They drank most of the root beer, but didn't drink a lot of the ginger ale, some of the chips, none of the cookies and a bowl of the sugar cereal. A friend came over tonight and for dinner we had a bowl of lucky charms and she was nice enough to finish the bag of chips  So supportive.

We don't have a whole lot of candy left, I was giving out handfuls to each kid and there were close to 60 this year. We actually lit a bonfire on the driveway (in a firepit) to keep warm since it was freezing here last night (seriously -1 is too cold for little kids).

My highlight of the weekend was my cousin's step daughter. I've been in love with this little one since she was born and she's part of the reason they come up here. They need a break and I need the kidlet around. This morning I had an glimpse into my life in 2 1/2 years with an 18month old running around. I was frying up some potato pancakes to go with breakfast and she was playing on the floor in the kitchen. She ate most of her breakfast before we even got to the table. I had it put aside for her. That is what I'm looking forward to..that's the #1 reason I'm doing this. So I'm totally motivated to start moving my backside again and not rely on food based weight loss only!!!

Well i am quite proud of myself... I am 1 pound away from being out of the 190's and since feb i have lost 26 pounds!!! I only at 2 pieces of fun sized halloween candy. So i feel like i am making good progress!!!

Not pregnant this month, starting clomid again tomorrow...

    welcome newcomers!!!
  • I've been online too long already this morning - need to get moving and off to work! Just wanted to say Hi and Happy Birthday Jalara! My 30th birthday wasn't fun for me either. Different reasons, but still. I understand your tears. *hugs*

Welcome newcomers & babydust to all!

I forgot to wish Jalara a happy birthday yesterday! :flowerforyou:  :flowerforyou: I'm sorry it was hard for you. Hopefully next month will be your month for BFP and you can use Christmas as your time to tell friends and family! :drinker:

I had my early morning class today so breafast was a Non-Fat Pumpkin Spice latte...I can only get them during this time of year so i'm stocking up! I really enjoy this class i'm taking and we got our speech topics today...we are each assigned a chapter out of the book...of course it's one i haven't read yet but i'm still really excited. I love talking and public speaking seems to be my forte' so i should nail it!

I hate how motivated i am to do school work, house work etc...when I'm stuck at work...:grumble: then when i'm OFF work i have zero motivation and no energy to do ANTHING! I even went so far as to make myself a to-do list yesterday of things i needed to do this week and divided it up into daily chores/school assignments/workout routines so i wasn't so overwhelmed....yeah didn't do any of it last night. Wait, I folded laundry but that is only bc it was on my bed therefore i couldn't go to sleep unless it was done  I am really looking forward to when this job contract is over...

I ended up eating halloween candy last night instead of the sugar-free pudding that i had planned so i went over my calories by about 300...but i plan to make it up today. I packed a yummy salad for lunch...hopefully it keeps me full!

Good afternoon! It was a busy weekend (which extended into Monday) full of eating and working...

We showed our house to a potential tenant, worked on it more, went to a friend's to pass out candy, ate way too much candy and a yummy steak with homemade cheesy garlic/parsley mashed potatoes (amazing! I was stuffed till lunch the next day), and worked on the house some more.

We have our first potential tenant! Her references were great, now I just have to verify her employment and income. I want to keep the house up on craigslist for a bit longer just to see if we get anymore good hits. I don't want to jump at the first one that bites.

Haven't been doing any exercising at all (with the exception of teaching dance on Tuesdays and Fridays). Thank goodness the house is almost rented! Then I can get back in my routine. I haven't been logging the work we have been doing on the house, so I hope painting and sanding counts for something... LOL.

Here's to a new month! :drinker: (toasting water of course!)

Ivy~ Way to go on only having 2 pieces! I wish I could say that!
Pam~ We had a fire in the front yard too as we passed out handfuls! It was so nice and the parents like to have a warming station to stop at while their kids got their candy.
Tahmed~ Nice to see you! Hope you and the sweet pea are doing well! Hopefully some of us will be joining around the holidays and New Year!
Alisa~ It IS a new day and a new month! WE WILL MEET OUR GOALS!
Jalara~ Happy Birthday. I'm sorry if was not the best. Baby dust your way!
  • Hi Good Afternoon! I'd like to join as my husband and I after 7 years finally decided to start a family.. I also have PCOS so that's a major reason behind me wanting to lose the weight, any suggestions and or advice is appreciated!

Hey y'all...i'm having one of those days.

Last night i woke up around 2am and
could not go back to sleep and starting
thinking about the HPT i bought over the
weekend. The test said that results 5
days before missed period. So, i ended
up taking the test and it came up BFN :(

Then when i read the small print it said
4 days before missed period with a
    smaller percentage rate of accuracy.
So, i'm bummed but i still have a little
glimmer of hope that AF doesn't show.

Well, after i took the test i tried to go bk
to sleep and didn't fall asleep until around
5a so as a result i am yawning the day away.

Alisa: I know exactly what you mean. While
i'm at work i think of all the things that need
to be done then once i'm home i just want
    to be a coach potato.

Tahmed: Really hope to join you all very soon.
    Glad you're doing well. :)

    Jenny: Good MOrning!!

    Have a GREAT day all!

Kittymoser~Welcome! A lot of ladies on this board have pcos, myself included. My symptoms are only the occasional cysts & irregular periods. Feel free to add me as a friend if you'd like!

AnneElise~Welcome! I'm kinda in the same boat as you (weight wise). When I started ttc a little over 2 years ago, I was in the 120's. A couple years later & several fertility meds later, I got up to 146. It's been slowly coming off (now down to 139)....but it certainly is frustrating when you can't exercise too much for fear of not ovulating (I usually need meds to help out) & then durning the 2ww I'm usually too scared to exercise for fear of losing a possible baby (that's just how my mind things anyways).

Jalara~Happy birthday yesterday! Sorry you had a bumming night. My husband just turned 30 this past weekend & is feeling the same as you. I say 30 is still young & no reason to freak out just b/c you don't have kids yet. It'll happen!!! (for us both!)

On a completely separate note... anyone else as hungry as me today!?!?

I love Zumba!!!  I made a complete and total fool of myself and couldn’t catch on to half of the steps, but I kept moving and had a blast! Unfortunately we had technical difficulties and the stereo broke half way into class. So instead of 60 minutes it was only 30. To make up for it she told us to come a half an hour earlier next Monday. I don’t know if I’ll survive an hour and a half of Zumba but I’m going to try.

DH hid my scale today. :indifferent: I’m one of those obsessive people who weigh every morning. I know that my weight will fluctuate every day and I normally don’t let it get to me. But this morning I was up 2 pounds from yesterday. I got really discouraged because I ate so healthy, walked 2 miles and did Zumba yesterday. There is no reason I should be up…….I had a bit of a “freak out”. DH took the scale away then went on the computer and pulled up a facebook picture of me from 2 years ago at my friend’s wedding. He put it side by side with the one from the wedding last Friday (both bridesmaid dresses are similar). He sat me in front of the computer and said “every time you get upset about a temporary gain I want you look at these two pictures.” I started to cry, I almost didn’t recognize myself. I have a tendency to get so caught up in the numbers on the scale I forget to look at the big picture. Of course that didn’t stop me from going straight the candy drawer after lunch today. I had a huge chocolate craving and I’m embarrassed to say I ate 4 full size candy bars. :embarassed: I already feel sick. And even if I do all the workouts I planned to tonight I’ll still be way over on my calories. :grumble: :ohwell: But I have no one to blame but myself.

ron~You can totally do 1½hrs of zumba. I just did that last week & it was so much fun. Love it! I too make a COMPLETE fool of myself & could care less! :) You made me laugh when you said you ate 4 large candy bars. Sounds like something I would do. Don't worry about it. Tomorrow is another day! I'm also obsessive about weighing everyday. It's more of a checking it to see how I've been doing & how good I have to be today. You might just be retaining some water or something. You look great, so you must be doing something right!

Aww...That was really sweet that your DH did that. I know it's probably not what you wanted to hear at the moment but sometimes we all need a slap in the face from reality! You are making GREAT progress! We all have days like that...I need to stop weighing myself so much too...my scale screamed 137 at me this morning and I about lost it...(hence the salad for lunch) but then i remembered that AF should be here this week so not to worry about it too much. So take a deep breath, don't even feel guilty about the chocolate! Enjoy that treat and tomorrow is a NEW day! :flowerforyou:

I realize TECHNICALLY I am in the 2WW even though we are not TTC yet (but as my mother says...if you're not on birth control you're trying) so this week i will probably be freaking out all week that i'm pregnant. Here is why (bc i start doing research and I am ALWAYS that 1% that beats the odds! ) Lets go back a few weeks...we BD both Saturday(16th) & Sunday(17th), I had the eggwhite gooey CM consistancy monday(18th), LH surge on Friday and O'd on Saturday(23rd) morning.
I read that spermies can live in there (as long as the right CM is present which there was...) for 5-7days...which means that even though we used a condom...one could have broken free and fertalized my egg that O'd on Saturday!:ohwell: ...haha I'll be SO happy when AF shows up this week!
Lets SAY hypothetically I am preggo (which i don't think i am....well i kinda do but you know) that would give us a July due date...and hubby would miss it. Baby would be 2 months old before he would get to see it:brokenheart:  :brokenheart: ...that would be sad for my hub and i think he would actually be mad that we went off BC so early...I would be upset too...it would be hard bc i'd be so happy and excited...but sad at the same time. AHhh someone slap me and remind me that i'm not special enough to be that 1%!

5-7 is way outside the average for sperm life. 2-3 days is far more typical. Plus, if you used any lube with said condom, you probably pretty effectively immobilized the little guys, as lube (except for preseed) can have that effect. So just breathe.
  • AlisaToth
    AlisaToth Posts: 414 Member
That was the other thing that freaked me out...we used ultra thin NON-lubbed ones (wanted as close to the real thing as possible...:blushing: ) So i'm thinking thin...it could have broken a lot easier...and lube-less there truely was nothing but a thin line of latex keeping those bad-boys in!

I always THOUGHT it was only a few days too but EVERYTHING i read (granted it was all online so i take that with a grain of salt) said 5-7 days ESP if CM was present to help it along.

I am just going to breath and if AF doesn't show up by this weekend THEN i'll freak out!

I don't know where you were reading, but everything I've read says that's really the far end of the spectrum and not likely. That's why they say try every other day when you are actively trying.

Also, you may not have ovulated on Saturday. It could have been Sunday or Monday. You just can't tell without temping. So over a week with protection. I doubt you're pregnant.

But if you are, then be happy that you don't have to stress about trying and having your heart broken every single month.

I assumed that with the LH friday at noon and then cramping from about 8am-11am Saturday morning that the cramping was due to O'ing

I googled "How long can sperm live before ovulation"

    www.early-pregnancy-tests.com/sperm.html

    http://www.babyhopes.com/articles/sperm-survive.html.html

Both said 2-4 days on AVERAGE but can live up to 7 days (so like you said it is the longer end of the spectrum)...but again...in most cases i am that small percent that it happens to..HaHa So just a brief melt down...when AF get's here I will feel much better...The we just have to get thru one more month of freaking out the during the 2WW and then I can just let it happen and PRAY that it happens! :-)

Maybe this will help you calm down.

From the "Sperm Meets Egg Plan" website:

"Many books tell you that sperm can last for 5 days and the egg for 24 hours. While this is technically true on the very long end (and something to follow if you trying to NOT get pregnant), most sperm will only last about two hours if you do not have fertile-quality cervical mucus for it to swim in. The sperm will struggle to swim up to your uterus, use all its reserves, and not make it. The egg typically lives only about 12 hours, so it cannot wait for long. You can now see how important that cervical mucus is! You will never get pregnant with sperm living two hours and an egg only twelve. This information is really just to make you feel better if you've been trying a long time and all your infertility testing came back normal."

So if you didn't have EWCM when you were DTD, then that sperm probably didn't last until it showed up.

I get O cramps sometimes a few days before I O. It's really not a guarantee of O (neither is a +opk). You might have Od on Saturday, but it could have happened 24-48 hours after the +opk. I'm not trying to beat a dead horse here, just trying to set your mind at ease with facts. I know how crazy hormones make us all. :flowerforyou:

HaHa Thanks, it's exactly what I need! I text'd my friend and i was like "I've convinced myself i'm preggo" and all she could say was (same as my argument as far as i am the exception to every rule) "well, it could happen, I just have to think about sex and I get pregnant!" (she has 3 LITTLE ones) so she's obviously not going to be able to snap me back into reality!
