Its that some people are so dim that their synapses function as a parrot of representations of the world view they subscribe too. Like the defeatist, blue collar, anti-everything-thats-not-humble/hardoworking/everyman-swag that people have, completely oblivious it comes from insecurity, go around hating on everything thats not what they know because they can barely handle to exist with their innadequacies that they have created a whole warped world of safety around themselves and practically ignore things with elements that threaten their mental safe space of fear.

Go scoff at Justin Bieber or something, its been awhile since he took over the world with one song and a couple youtube clips.

But I cringe so hard at people who try to put down Twilight, with all the ignorance of a monkey see, monkey do broken record of an opinion. (Wooooowwww you're so masculine!!!) Its so misguided because its about as annoying as hearing one of these guys talk about the Mona Lisa that its just some corny looking lady and the Art historian is sitting there in the corner just shaking his head at your ignorance.

I mean Twilight reads like a reverse engineered psychology manual for seducing women. Every element in the setup and plot serves to maximally hit every receptor a woman has for love and attraction. In the rawest realest way possible. Yes being "taken" yes being stimulated/intimidated, yes being with the Alpha, yes everyone wants to live forever and love to last forever.

Again, its the potency and the DEGREE to how affecting this book is, how powerfully it struck the chord.

You compare other writers, but thousands of books come out every year, novels by the buckets, but none of them reach that status. Why aren't those other books that are so much less "laughable" not selling like that? Why aren't other books spreading through the nation like wildfire through word of mouth? I mean I don't see any other books deeply affecting almost every single female youth in the nation to such an obsessive degree? Hmm maybe there was something more going on in there? Before the posters and the Hollywood? Maybe theres some real meat there to this love story and maybe a very potent, respectable work of art?? HMMMM......

The women you know must be very different from the ones I do. Sometimes, something just sucks because it sucks.

Sometimes people think something sucks because they don't have the mental tools to appreciate the truth in something. How can one recognize something that is real, if one is afraid of reality? I don't know what your background is, but just because you don't like something doesn't mean that there is nothing to like about it. As is the case with this, millions of people loved it, to a critical degree.

If you are just being a hipster, trying to think its cool to not like something that is mainstream, I'm not impressed.
