Why the fitness culture on Social Media needs to die

I don't really see many of those points on social media I use, including this site.
Maybe the author needs to find different people to interact with on said social media?
My thoughts exactly! Change who you're following?! :huh:0 -
"Their food makes us sad" Author doesn't like Nutella or Bacon? The foods that make me sad end or begin with the word diet, and I try to avoid those. Also, I can handle fitness memes. What I can't handle on social media sites are "if your boyfriend loves you" or "I'm so alone" memes. As for the self imposed lifestyle, I see people b!tching about relationships all of the time. Aren't those self imposed as well? If you don't like having the people on your feed, remove them. Heaven forbid they be proud of their accomplishments. :grumble:0

Yeah, not the best article. I mean, you have good information and bad information out there in the world. Do your research and try to make the best decisions. I think there are many good eating and workout topics/pointers on social media. I have found some good discussion topics and people to follow on social media.0

Using what is essentially a fitness/diet social media platform to complain about fitness culture on social media ....hmmm.
this is what i thought.
long live the glory of MFP. also, lots of us eat bacon..not just grilled chicken and asparagus (both good, btw).0 -
"Voice of Generation Y"
well....that explains a lot then...the generation of mediocrity.
Also, I'm really not sure what the author is talking about...I really don't see the fitness culture running anything....all one needs to look at is the rate of obesity to understand that there really isn't much of a fitness culture to speak of...I know I'm a pretty rare breed among my friends and family...pretty much everyone i know is big, fat, and out of shape with the exception of a few gym acquaintances I've met the last couple years.0 -
The author is a self-described "intellectual" who thinks common people who get fit, gain confidence and self-esteem are losers for thinking they are just as good as a rock star. Clearly, this should only accomplished by elitists, the rest of us should just sit down and shut up. :noway:0

that girl prefers to see pics of food everyone eats and/or of people getting drunk and stupid rather than see pictures of motivated people trying to motivate someone else. people can post whatever they want on their social media; if you dont like it dont follow them. easy enough.
ugh her issues are giving me issues.0 -
Another instance of a person employed in media running into deadline doom and having to come up with something to write. Everyone needs to make a living.
Nothing to see here people move along.......0 -
Meh. Don't like what I post, either don't read it or unfriend me. It's my page and I'll post what I see fit.
And the woman that the author thinks is "gross" in that article....10/10 WB.
I thought the same thing.
yah!! wow!. .more please!
I wonder if she has an account on here? . .FR me please!!!0 -

Werd...and pizza and stuff. But I do like grilling up some chicken and asparagus...got to have some roasted potatoes or something with that on the side to bring the plate together though...kinda like a rug-less room without the potatoes or rice or something.0 -
Jealous author is jealous.0

Cringe.
This woman makes my head hurt.....0 -
You read that article and think it's absolutely true. So you agree with #3.

"These people most likely have naturally fit bodies, but because of their obsessive exercise and diet habits, have become gurus of “fit” and therefore have become “famous” on social media."
I guess her reasoning on why she doesn't look as good as the people she's talking about is that they were just born naturally fit & didn't have to put any hard work into their "fit" physiques.
So many thoughts come to my mind reading this article. Jealous, bitter, miserable, etc.
Don't hate on people because they have a different lifestyle than you and are proud of it.0 -
The so-called author of that piece is a class of 2012 graduate ... with a communications degree who now uses it to fill the internet with more banality. I'd kick my kid's *kitten* if she wasted tuition like that.0

i literally hated the author of that blog after the very first sentence. literally.

Writer is incredibly jealous. Calling that woman flexing gross? Posting up work outs anyone can do? Then why aren't you doing them? Meal shaming? Horrible.
And neon is ducking awesome.0 -
Agreed! Thank you for sharing!0
-
lolwut?
Grilled chicken and asparagus are two of my favorite foods! And that includes when I was at my fattest... they just taste good!0 -
So you agree with body shaming, OP?0

Hahahahaha. Yes.0 -
I won't be changing any of my behavoir to placate this jealousy.
Pure. Raw. Envy.
If you don't like it, don't look at it.

I think the author is probably trying to be sarcastic and funny (not very imho) and the persons who got hit from the rock that she threw into the crowd are understandably a bit tetchy. That said, her ordinary people/rockstars comment was *****y, as was her calling the muscular woman 'gross'.
Can I ask a serious question though? Why is her not finding the muscular woman attractive evidence of her being jealous? I personally don't think she is jealous of her. I think she has been socialized to believe that muscular women are not attractive and masculine, and she's made her assessment based on this. I don't think this equates to jealousy at all...more a difference in preferences, justifiable/reasonable or not.0 -
 This was "not srs" article people! :laugh:Kayla Inglima
Kayla is an intellectual, comical, organized mess. She believes that filters are only for coffee & Instagram - hence she says what is on her mind at all times. She likes sushi and wine and being cynical while remaining a likable human. Graduating from Monmouth University in New Jersey, she now seems to put that Communication degree to good use. Find her on the Elite Daily "Who We Are" page, Facebook, Twitter and, most importantly, Instagram (@kayglee), where she has a variety of awesome photos of food and other shenanigans.0 -
I love chicken breast and asparagus. I prep it on Sunday and eat it M-F.
I also love to procreate with hotties from the gym, call me crazy I guess.0 -
I read this and I think it is so absolutely true.
