I only count water and unsweetened iced tea as water. Juice and coffee are logged in my food.
I think whatever you want to do but I would make sure you are drinking plenty of other 'fluids' besides coffee, soda, juice, etc...0 -
no I don't count it as water...I use International Delight in mine so I log it with my food and my K-cups do have calories

What I mean is that I only log water as water when I'm drinking it plain, nothing added to it. I could technically count Snapple tea as water since tea is made mostly of water, but the point of 'me' logging my water is to make sure I'm consuming water and not other caloric drinks. It's a personal preference. Some people even go as far as to not drink 8 full cups of water because foods contain water as well (especially produce), but I don't count that toward water consumption either whereas my mom does.0 -

Un, have you checked the nutritional value of coffee? It has 2 - 4 calories per 8 oz depending on how it is made. It also has sodium. Water has neither. Why don't you try logging it yourself to see the nutritional difference between coffee and water. I believe that should be scientific evidence enough to show that coffee does not water. Oh and if you don't what you see ask the database compilers to give you scientific evidence that coffee equals water nutritionally. Sheesh!0 -

I think the point is that it's still water. Just with stuff added to it. It doesn't magically become "not water" when brewed with coffee.0 -

So if I ate a Hershey's Kiss, then drank a liter of water.... the water wouldn't count?
Or would the water not count only if I added the Hershey's Kiss to the water before I drank it?

If I log water as food it does not show any calorie content, but it does show sodium.0 -
I only count straight water as water. I don't personally count any other fluids into that equation.

If coffee counts as water, so does beer.
ahh bring out the alcohol now we don't have to add to the calories! awesome. could be more partying going on now
Coffee has water... but it does also have milk unless you have it black! and it may also have sugar! therefore this is counted in your food log as calories! Water is the clear stuff that doesn't have added stuff to it! it doesn't add calories to your nutrition! i'll ask my 12yr old in the morning what she thinks :laugh:
I'm going to have a cup of tea before bed.. and I'll add it to my calories!

There is a ton of research on the benefits of drinking water when dieting. Here's the thing...you don't want to drink water so you sneak around to find a way not to. Not my problem. Coffee is not water regardless of how you log it. You don't want to log the calories of a beverage containing water but isn't water? Not my problem. I could go on but it is a waste of my time because quite frankly you are looking for a quick fix where you lose the weight yet make no changes. So carry on. When your weight refuses to budge because you don't want to put the required effort in, we will be seeing you back in the forums upset because you aren't losing. Again, not my problem.0

I pretty much never drink plain water unless I'm out hiking or skating. I drink a ton of soda and coffee.

From what I've seen, the posters claiming that coffee still counts as water intake aren't having any trouble losing weight.
ETA: Nobody anywhere on this thread or anywhere else said that you shouldn't log the calories of whatever beverage you choose to drink.0 -

I drink water all day long. I drink at least six cups of plain water plus other beverages. Some days I drink 15 cups of plain water if I'm thirsty enough or working out more than usual. Yesterday I had 8 cups of plain water.
I still log the water from the tea I drink every day and on the rare occassion I drink juice anymore, I will log that as well.Coffee is brewed with water. Beer is brewed with water.

I usually drink 5 home brewed cups (6 oz each) - and I mark it as 5 calories. Should I be marking it as 10? That's probably why I'm not losing weight.0

I log it. I don't usually log my water like I should because I can't always keep up with how much I've had to drink. I just go and refill my cup when it's empty :laugh:0

I don't count my water, like at all. I just go by the color of my urine...if pale, I'm fine. If it gets dark, I need to drink some fluids. Drink your coffee. If your urine gets dark, throw in some water. I haven't died yet, so I guess I'm doing something right.0
