You annoyed me enough in your OP to warrant deletion. There is your first clue.
This. I can understand priding yourself on your clever vernacular but this made you come across as not only boring and pedantic and instantly made me believe that any conversation with you would be a frustratingly tedious affair, and I am fairly long-winded myself.
My tip for avoiding deletion is to interact with others in a way that makes you seem open and interesting and not make people hate you instantly for trying to assert your intelligence and wit with paragraphs of unnecessary language that drowns out whatever message you are putting forth.

This thread inspired me to delete more people.
For me, other than cry babies and slackers. The ones who get me the most are the "it`s all about me" people. I need support and more friends. Then they never take part or even click "like".

1) I delete if you have not logged on for over 20 days unless we talk a lot.
2) I delete if you are blowing up my news feed every 5 min about stuff

I delete if there's no activity for at least a month or so and if there's no explanation for the absence. Sometimes people will post that they are "taking a logging break" or going to Cancun or moving, etc. I don't delete in those situations unless it's been three months or more because to me, that's a pretty sure sign that they're not coming back. I don't like to see a friends list of people who gave up since it's very discouraging to me and my own goals. I will usually send a message to the person after a period of not seeing them log in for a while just to encourage them to come back and not give up.
I'll delete if someone is endorsing unhealthy habits. Such as eating less than 1000 calories every day, trying to lose weight while pregnant, etc.
I'll also delete if they are spamming my page and annoying me. I don't mind casual conversations or daily posts though... so it takes a lot to annoy me and I think I've only ever deleted people for this once or twice.0 -

I delete a MFP friend if the person annoys me.
What bugs me can change from day to day, hour to hour. Basically, they did nothing wrong, it's all about me.

usually the only time I delete is if they have not been active in a month.. I try to check in and comment daily and I try to log daily I want people of a similar mindset to be cheering me on!!0

I do delete others. But, if I see my friends have not been around in a week I send them a message (there are a couple i know that due to work they are just gone for long stretches) but others, I check on after a week - personal message. If I get to a month and no repsonses, then I post on the wall and after a couple months of no response/activity I do delete them. The point is accountability. But if you are not active and not responding, then there is no accountability.
This. I do the same, I am sure to make multiple attempts to pull them back in and if I get no responce I delete them. I will search their page for a bit to see if there is some explained reason they haven't been around and if there is I do not delete them but.. after 3 months I figure you're out for good. Now.. I do have some people I've become pretty attached to and keep around even though they haven't been around in a while, one can only hope. Some I've tried to check on and have been told they deactivated their accounts so that calls for deletion also.0 -
I don't generally delete because of extended absence, because I've done that myself and was happy to have friends who stayed with me.
I delete if people become inactive though, lol.
I've deleted people if their posts were either very negative, following 600 cal diets (whether medically supervised or not) or if they had an eating disorder (I just can't handle that, don't know how to support it without bringing myself down).
I've also recently deleted someone who seemed to be a "friend collector" (had 1000 or more friends) yet NEVER did anything remotely supportive- not even a measly like. If I have you on my list, I'm supporting you- whether through comments or taking the 2 seconds it takes to hit that like button. If your plan is to NEVER reciprocate, why should I bother? Not saying that I need my friends to be constantly interacting- I'm happy with once in a blue moon, as long as it does happen.

Pretty sure if I had to see the excessive and unnecessary wordiness of the OP in my feed, that would warrant immediate deletion. And I work in a corporate setting where BS and jargon is status quo, so that's saying a lot.0

I go in every once in a while and delete people who haven't been active in a few months, though I'm not sure why. If they aren't around, what does it matter.
I've deleted a few who added me (no msg) and then posted about their 500 calorie days etc. We don't have much in common. I'll keep them a while, see if they notice *my* posts about my healthy diet and ask questions. If they don't, and they keep posting about their unhealthy diet, then sometimes I'll delete them.
I deleted one person who had far too much religious stuff in their daily comments, including their comments TO me. I don't mind religious stuff, just don't want to be bombarded, and wonder about folks who send ME religious stuff when they don't know my beliefs.
Otherwise. In reality, other than "dead" accounts, I've probably deleted about 5 people.0 -

I don't over think or over analyze this to the degree you do, original poster. I'm the medieval ruler of my MFP friend list. I delete when I feel like it. Eating disorder, long period of inactivity, hardly ever interacting with me, harassment of me/others are the reasons I typically delete.
I've even deleted one of my good friends from Facebook after she stopped logging here for a long time. We're still friends there. :laugh:0 -
Ended up deleting one when he raged at those of us who suggested he eat more than 1400-1500 cals a day when doing 2-3 hours of intense cardio. :ohwell:0
