My custom made orthotics finally came in. I wore them to go for groceries tonight and they sure feel funny. Like there's something in my shoe that shouldn't be there. Reminds me of the princess and the pea story. But he said I'll get used to them eventually. I can only wear them for short periods of time each day until I get used to them. He said it's like breaking in skates and if I wear them for too long too quickly they'll hurt my feet. I'm a bit impatient, I just want to break them in and get back to my hiking. But I'll take it slow like a good girl. Have any of you ever had to get used to custom orthotics? How long realistically will it take?

I have orthodics. They do take a bit, but I think I was wearing them full time within 2 week. You will be amazed with what a difference they make.

    DItto.

They worked so well and got rid of the foot pain I was having at the time.

Sorry all- Benn out sick most of this week. The stomach flu is cycling through my home with no reguard to the lysol I keep spraying. It started with daughter, hit me, then bf, back to daughter and now back to me again. I did drag myself to work today. I can't afford another day off. We had to take daughter to the ER for dehydration Wed night. No matter what we do/ offer she refuses to eat or drink. She seems better but it seriously drinking tablespoons at a time.

Hope you are all feeling better soon Nessa. It is always so hard to see our little ones sick especially. I am sure you have tried it but popsicles, freezes and powerade (gatorade depending on the kids and there preference) are good ways to get the fluids in and those sport drinks will keep up her electrolytes just as well as pedialyte (my doctors tip). Hope that nasty bug leaves your house soon.

Well ... last night's getting active just plain didn't happen ... it was a horrible week and I gave up. But today has been great so far. Eating is right on track, I've done some Wii Zumba, went to get tickets at the casino for the Jeffrey Steele show tonight, dropped a $20 in the 2 cent machine while I was there and walked out with $260. That rarely happens but I'm happy that it did  I'm thinking I might just take the hubby out for dinner before the show. I hope all of my MFP friends are having a great weekend.

That is awesome Maggs. Hope you had a great night.

I have had an amazing weekend, filled with family, friends and food (of course). Looking forward to getting back to normal tomorrow- you know you had a busy weekend when you are looking forward to getting back to the quiet of the work week. Hope everyone else had a great weekend too!

Awesome Maggs!!!!!!!! The only time I ever gambled I took $25- won $15 more- then lost it all. :grumble:

    I had a GREAT weekend!!

Bf started cleaning! So I jumped right in and we cleaned just about everything!! The only rooms left are the basement and bathroom. (It was muddy so we had to keep the dogs in those rooms so they wouldn't mess up the rest of the house.) Hopefully I'll finish the bathroom today and we'll tackle the basement this weekend- it needs major remodeling.

We made huge changes- rearranged rooms and everything. Our dogs used to sleep in our bed. Used to. Everytime I carpet cleaned a rug one of the dogs would go pee on it. WTF??? Not just ONE but each dog did it to each freaking rug. Short of murder- I decided it's time to demote them and show them who's boss. They no longer sit on the couch, sleep in our bed or ANYTHING until they behave. WTH?? I can't wait until Spring to be able to powerwash the rugs. Right now the dogs are sleeping in their crates in the den. It went surprisingly well- they don't cry or anything. However- I've woken up a million times the last 2 nights FREEZING. We'll all get used to it though.

I've thought about rehoming one or all of them one hundred million times. With 3 dogs, a cat and a kid- it seems like there's always a dominance battle. But I just can't do it. It may take a thousand years but we'll eventually find a system that works for us all. . . right? Am I being naive here. I just could not actually rehome one or all of them unless there was a biting/fighting issue I couldn't resolve...

    Hello All!

Lost two pounds last week. Yay!

Yesterday I spent a few hours tearing down drywall and stuff at my mother's house so my DH and I can remodel one of her rooms for her. I am quite sore today from it since I don't exercise much. It was fun though since I got to vent my stress by kicking down some walls. Oh yeah, I went all Chuck Norris on those walls...lol. They didn't stand a chance from my feet of fury.

I hope everyone has a happy, healthy week!

    Take care,

My weekend wasn't too shabby. Saw a nice show on Saturday night with the hubby which is always nice. I wish we went out more often. My feet are still screaming at me but I'm sure I'll eventually get used to the orthotics. I ignored the pain and did some Zumba and some walking because I just miss being active so much. The cabin fever blues are the pits and getting active seems to be the only cure I know of that works. Hope everyone is enjoying this day ... it’s a sunny day here and it's my lunch hour ... two things that make me happy.

Nessa- Good for you and your bf getting so much accomplished. I have a 7 month old puppy I threaten with the pound daily, but I am a lot of talk. I have recently started trying to teach him some manners.

Datenshi- Sounds fun! And yay to 2 pounds!! keep it up.

Maggs- keep at it with the orthodics it will be worth it in the end.

I hit a plateau for a while :grumble: but now I'm finally down a pound from last week! Seven pounds to go!
