Eliminating bread and rice?

I am on Dr Oz Rapid 10 weight loss plan. It pretty much eliminates breades, pasta, rice or simply, carbs. I am on day 6 of this diet!!! LISTEN, I am in LOVE with this diet!!! Best diet I have ever been in and trust me I have tried EVERYTHING!! From going vegan to counting calories, weight lifting, cardio, IIFYM....EVERYTHING!! You know, I did lose some weight with those plans and then I always hit a plateau which I couldn't manage to pass. The weight took forever to come off too. However, with this new diet, I have lost about 7 lbs in ONE week!! 7 lbs!!! Plus, I feel amazing. No weakness, exhaustion or deprivation! No counting calories my dear!! In all honesty, I would recommend to listen to your body. What works for one person might not work for another. I have a strong family history of diabetes so cutting sugar/bread isn't a bad deal to me actually, it's a good thing. In addition, I will be having a cheat meal tomorrow on my 7th day. I will continue on this diet, becuase it has work for my body till I lose all the weight that I need to lose. I will eventually, slowly add in moderation the food that I took out of my diet. People will always have negative comments about whatever diet you choose so, just listen to YOUR body. You are the only one who knows what works or doesn't work for you.0

I realize this conversation is quite long, but here is my experience. I am a "real food" dieter, so rice is in, in my book. However, I try to see how my body reacts to various foods before I continue eating them. When I added a serving of rice to my lunch, I was extremely hungry the rest of the day, and this was NOT what I needed. I was within my nutrient goals, but I didn't like this effect. One slice of whole wheat bread does not do that to me. It's different with everyone's body chemistry.0

Eliminate all starches from your diet immediately while still getting your goal macro's.
There are no essential carbs, but there are essential proteins and fats. Replace your starchy meals by either: nuts, vegetables, high protein dairy products (but not milk) and fruits.
Thank me in a couple of months. Or in tens of years, healthwise.0 -

Yes, and it also matters what you eat with it and the context. Bread (of any sort) usually is not filling for me, but if I eat only a little with a good amount of protein and some fat (and veggies, of course), it works fine. I assume this is why pasta with a good sauce of veggies and protein works fine for me, and although I use whole grain pasta at home that really doesn't matter (the fiber difference isn't very significant).
Similarly, I've started experimenting with rice and bread (along with protein) post workout, and I've found that if I workout at lunch and eat immediately after having more carbs doesn't leave me as likely to be hungry later as it used to when I'd have the same lunch or a carb-based breakfast while being largely sedentary.
But trying things out and seeing how they work for you is always the best approach, IMO.0 -

I can't reach my goal macros (50% carbs) without the starches, and they are helpful to my current goals (which are athletic and fitness-based). Also, I don't agree (and neither do most nutritionists) that starches are somehow bad for me in general.
So no thanks.0 -
I keep rice and bread in my diet but I've switched to whole grain bread and brown rice. I learned this from the Abs Diet for Women. That book helped me a lot when creating my own diet. And it's more of a guideline than a diet so it's more manageable and not as strict!0

Congrats! Just be aware that when one cuts carbs significantly, one generally loses a lot of water weight during the first week or so. That water weight can come back really quickly when you reintroduce a carb heavy diet (or day). All this by way of saying -- do not freak out if your cheat day includes a fair bit of carbs and the scale suddenly jumps -- it's water coming off and then back on again.

I WILL be negative about diet plans because the majority of diet plans usually aren't sustainable to individuals for LIFE. The move should be towards a lifestyle that one can sustain so that weight regain doesn't reoccur and they are fulfilling their macro/micro nutrients.

you didn't lose because when you were trying "everything" you were in a calorie surplus.
you lose weight because you eliminated a bunch of calorie dense foods.0 -

The same Dr. Oz who was called to stand before Congress over his weight loss scams? That's an interesting choice for a weight loss mentor0 -

By this rationale you should not eat saturated fats, since there are no essential saturated fats.
