Jules - lots of big (((HUGS))) He sounds like a great guy with the right attitude. He knows he is not going to live forever. Make the most of your time with him.

Sylvia - hope all is OK. What a stressful situation! Let others take the strain for now. <3

Well, DH finally decided this afternoon that he definitely was coming with me. Have to love him as it is DEFINITELY not his thing. Enforced socialising, cold and seasick. But he says he didn't want me to have a bucket list, long wanted experience without him. Hmmmmm. Anyway, it means I can upgrade my cabin so we have more space and privacy. So we now have a Junior Suite. Nice. He is very worried about me spending my rental sales money, but I want to LIVE my life, not save up for some future disaster. Having had cancer I know it could reappear at any moment. I am really, really looking forward to this trip next June.

Had the kost delicious 400 calorie dinner tonight. Risotto Primavera. Primavera is Italian for Spring. :D Broad beans (fava) from the garden, so small, sweet and delicious, spinach ditto, some stringless beans, button mushrooms and asparagus. Used my own homemade chicken stock. 5 stars. :D

We have our own rhubarb and homemade yoghurt for dessert. I am over on calories as, YES TERRI, I had some cheese at 4 am this morning! I could not sleep and knew cheese would calm me. It did. But it was quite a big portion. :embarassed: I am still within maintenance calories so quite happy.

We planted the #÷×"+ geraniums that DSIL had given us. Normally DH does all the shovelling and wheelbarrow stuff, but I did it because of his hernia op. No problem. Then I sprayed the patio weeds. Logged all the calories.

I will post a pic of the itinerary soon.

    Lots of love, Heather UK

Happy Thursday! Got up and is raining pretty hard. Yesterday when I was driving to Hastings all the rivers are way up over the banks. Sounds like it is to rain all weekend. We are having our state CMA rally Friday and Saturday. Should be interesting. Last night our youth leaders called and they live out of town and need a place to stay so sounds like tomorrow night we will be having 12 youth staying at our house. I keep telling myself it is only one night.
Got my nails done yesterday and had a good visit with my friend. But not real thrilled with my nails. We ate at Applebees last evening. I brought about 2/3's of mine home so know I did good. Have enough for two more meals.

Heather--Good for you on getting your trip scheduled. I hope DH surprises you and has a good time. I would ask for the interest too, as long as they have taken I believe you are owed at least that. We should of been together as I did not sleep much lastnight either.

Beth--Sorry to hear about your neighbor.

yanniejannie--Congrates on your NSV. You are better then I am, they would talk to me until I started eating them.

Sondre--Happy early birthday. I agree I would rather spend time with family then anything else.

    Meg--Are you floating away yet?

Sylvia--I put my photos on Walgreens. Then I can have them printed whenever I want and they have them on my sign in. WOW! Pleae let them check you all out.

Katla--Enjoy your NSV. Thanks for sharing.

Welcome Peggy. This is a great place for support and friendship. Glad to have you join us.

Terewilliams--That is what we are here for.

Carey--sending hugs. Hope the dreams get better.

Well time to get something done before time to go home. I am off the next three days and not sure how much I will be able to check in as our big CMA rally is tomorrow and Saturday. Our chapter is hosting and last count we have almost 300 people pre-resigtered. Take care ladies and remember we are not in this alone and One Day at a Time.
    Blessings, Vicki GI NE

    Happy Thursday ! ! !

Beth – hugs for the loss of your neighbor. Very sad.

Yanniejannie – congrats and strength for those brownies.

Miakoda – Welcome. Thanks for sharing such an interesting story.

Barbie, and all others trying to sneak in enough water – I play games to get in my water, too. First thing in the morning, I take my vitamins etc with a full glass of water. Then at work, I can’t have my second cup of coffee without drinking 2 more glasses of water. Then I make myself drink at least 1 more with lunch. I bring 67 oz of water to work, and try REALLY hard to have it finished before I leave at the end my work day. Weekends are harder to “reward” myself or measure my consumption, so I just trust how I feel, and drink as much water as possible. I also stock up on MiO drops or equivalent whenever I can get to Big Lots. I hope you all find a system that works best for you.

Kim – good call on the KFC. The skin is definitely my problem. Luckily, DH finished it last night while I had DS at basketball, so it won’t be an issue again until the next time he brings home KFC.

Barbie – Amazing photos. Thanks for sharing ! ! !

Gilly – Thanks, but if you could see my house, you would realize that all I do is work and “take care” of DS (and sometimes DH). // It is a long and winding road, but we are all travelling it together, so don’t give up. I know we can do it, and we can help each other. Thanks for being here for me !

Peggy – Welcome! It is okay to take babysteps during this lifestyle change. Maybe start by walking around the house? Then twice around the house, etc. Sometimes while at my DS’s sports I just march in place, or kick my heels backwards, or whatever, just to keep moving. Add a few dance moves while prepping your meals, and you are lightyears ahead of yesterday. Keep in touch here!

Yvonne – Hugs for you regarding the storms. I know we can offer support for you here, and I hope you are able to teach DH how to also support you. More Hugs ! ! !

Mia – My DH did the same thing one time with a cat. SWORE that he hated cats, and he would never have anything to do with that cat. I can’t tell you how many times I walked into a room and there the 2 of them would be, snuggled up together. Unfortunately, he is suddenly allergic to most animals, so no pets anymore.

Sylvia – Hugs ! I hope you start feeling better real soon, as I know how much those grandkids appreciate your attention. Yes, as soon as a person says “chest pain”, we have to assume they mean cardiac (even flu season when they have a cough, so I say back to them “chest pain or rib pain”). So sorry about all this hassle you are enduring.

Jules – numerous long, hard bear hugs for you and hubby. I have been through palliative care with family and friends, and it is terribly difficult. You have a remarkable attitude. And, in my humble opinion, I agree about allowing him to enjoy the remainder of his life. You are both truly blessed, and I admire the drive and faith you maintain and show for each other. Many more Hugs and Prayers ! ! !

Heather – thanks for the “middle of the night” shout-out. I feel NO guilt for having my yogurt at midnight last night. Thanks for making me smile! I’m so excited to hear about your cruise.

DS had a wonderful time at basketball last night. He is finally almost as tall as about 1/2 of the boys, and is definitely more muscular. He also feels honored that the Coach agreed to allow him to play, since it is a league for the boys who played on the H.S. team last year. This made him try even harder than I've ever seen him try. He thinks he properly impressed the coach. He got a lay-up, a steal, and a 3-pointer.

Tonight for me is a little grocery shopping. One store has milk 2/$4 and raspberries 2/$5. Then do some research for better protein, and protein shakes for DS. I hope to find some items that are easy to cook up multiples and put them in ziplocs so DS can re-heat easily when I'm not home, since DH takes him to McDonalds or Pizza Hut whenever I'm not in charge of supper.

Day is almost over, so I better get back to my paperwork so I can leave on time for a change.

    Hugs for Everyone ! ! !

    Good afternoon beautiful ladies :flowerforyou:

Margaret :) I know how hard it is to let go of a home. I donated the house that hubby and I used to live in to our local fire dept. They burnt it down May 8th of this year :'( …I`ve still not gone by to see it gone….! Sending hugs!!!

Yanniejannie :) It was cold and misty here all day yesterday and those little munchkins still got on the golf cart  . I bundled them up with my jackets, however I just had on long sleeves…I`m hoping I just feel horrible from allergies and this is not a spring time cold !!! Good for you resisting those brownies!!! I think you deserve a gold star o:) !!!

Sylvia :) I`m not so sure I would trust the cloud with my precious pics :noway:!!! How scary “it” knows about all the pics. I agree spooky!!!

Alison and Joyce :):) I have the old FitBit Ultra and I adore it!!! I`m not looking forward to the time I have to replace it, I don`t want something I have to wear on my wrist all the time! I have had no problems with mine at all, other than the time I thought I had lost it! Alison I hope you get some sleep tonight! And Joyce hope you enjoy the movie!

Sherry :) Just pop in when you can! Congrats on 10 consecutive days!

Barbie :) You look amazing ! Thank you for sharing your story with us!

Katla :) Look how you inspired that gentleman to lose weight <3 ! You`re doing a great job maintaining!!!

Tere :) Ok since we`re on the confession board….I stopped at Starbucks this morning and got a hot chocolate made with “real” milk with whipped cream and chocolate syrup…it was delish and a treat :blushing:! I`m glad you`re liking your new car, hopefully the SO will get used to it!

Gilly :) I am so far loving being retired, however I`ve not really had an opportunity to relax just yet . I tend to stay really busy in the summer months, the real test will come when winter is upon us…hope I don`t get bored!!! Congrats on losing 3 pounds, that is fantastic!!! I celebrate every ounce lost !!!

JoanMichelle :) I`m with you, I can`t carry a tune either :noway:. When my daughter was younger and she didn`t want to do something, all I had to do was tell her I was going to sing if she didn`t do it…9 out 10 times it worked ! After my hubby died and I started dating again, her words of advice to me were…1) don`t sing and 2) don`t cook (that is another story :# ). I`m glad your daughter is doing good after surgery, hopefully the pain will subside soon :flowerforyou:! Congrats on those 9 pounds being gone!!!

Pip/Poop :) Happy belated birthday to Bullwinkle!!! Sorry to hear it was also the anniversary of your sisters death <3:'( . Your mom sounds like such a character!

Carol NC :) Your apple fritter, my hot chocolate and Tere`s country ham biscuits…what a combo!!! I`m ready to see some sunshine B) , these gray chilly days are getting old!

Sylvia :) The ER…oh no!!! I hope you`re doing okay!!! Sending good vibes your way :* !

Heather :) Congrats on booking your trip!!! I just talked with my daughter last night about going to Italy in 2 years. I had planned on just taking my granddaughters but my daughter looked so sad. I finally said we would make it a family trip, now we`re deciding if we`re going to stay 2 weeks or a month…I want to rent a villa and stay a month, my daughter wasn`t sure she and son in law could get off work for a month, maybe they can just fly back early! I`m waiting for 2 years because the youngest will then be 10 years old and I think she would have a better time! I`m excited, now I must brush up on my Italian!!!

    Vicki :) Enjoy your 3 days off!!! 12 youths at your house…you are a saint o:) !!!

Okay ladies I have to get off this computer, my behind is feeling a numb from sitting so long :s !!!

Thinking of you all and wishing happiness and health to all <3 !!!

    Hugs,
    DeeDee in gray NC

Deedee thanks for the support. Prayers back to you. Will the land be used for a small park? Is it possible to donate a tree or a plaque in that area?

I admit stuff and me struggle. I did learn that displays are set up so we will touch the merchandise. If we handle something we are more apt to buy it. Perhaps that is true of food too. If we smell it and see it we are more apt to eat it. I overheard a mother tell her daughter to put the toy she had in her hand back before she became too attached. I wanted to applaud her.

I also need to remember what my grandmother said it is just stuff. In the 1940's she went through a forced move when her husband, my grandfather, sold their home without discussing it with her, and they moved from Minneapolis to Austin, Minnesota. They had lived in the home about ten years. Before that they had lived in India for twenty years and while there their house burned down. No one was injured. Yes it is just stuff.

That's great. Today went to art show and there was a 'reception' . . . I doubled what they call for a 'wedding reception'. Yeah ... still under my goal. I could have tripled it, too (including punch - small glass.

Hi again everybody. I'm home now. All the tests were perfectly normal. They wanted to keep me for observation but I wanted to go home. I wasn't really even having actual pain, it was just pressure in the chest and a horrible headache. No arm pain or neck pain. I'll call the cardiologist's office tomorrow morning and see if I can get an earlier appointment. I'm scheduled for one at the end of August. So, it turned out to be a false alarm, and a waste of time and money, which I was just sure would be the case.

Hubby volunteered to take the DGS to t-ball practice, so I'm sitting at home resting and eating cherry tomatoes. Yummy!

I hope everyone is having a great day.

Mollywhippet; sorry you had to go through so much. Going to the ER (if that is where you went) is usually a waste of time ... sit there for hours. I have found you get quicker treatment 'if you enter via ambulance'. LOL! But, that is a bumpier ride than in our own car. Took one nitroglycerin tablet (actually 2), then took something for heartburn and the pressure went away. MD put me through a bunch of tests and everything is 'normal'. He says I am just getting older . . . I keep reminding him that he is still 10 years older than I am. HA! HA! HA! He now says ... 'we' are getting older, or 'at our age(s) . . . things just need ... (nice way to say, 'we're falling apart little by little'). Hope you get an appointment really soon! Not something to mess around with. For me, I take something for indigestion before I take a nitro tablet. I also broke my 11th rib and sometimes it is a muscle spasm, hurts like HELL!

Hi everyone. What a busy day! I took my car in, there’s a “bubble” on my new tire, so that will be changed Saturday, then on the way to the grocery stores stopped by a floor/countertop place. They did all that work in our house and now we need to fix up the kitchen. The vinyl floor is really worn and has some cuts in it and the sink is very scratched and the sprayer wand doesn’t work. Now during the grad party, some water got in the one seam that wasn’t the greatest and the particle board under it is swollen so the entire top needs replacement. I was there for over an hour….wow way too much to think about! So I am really really tired and boy my knee hurts.

Michele: I am kind of disappointed in our Y lately too.

Sylvia: amen sister! A lot of what is on the cloud is under “lockdown” because of copyright issues including lots that is just personal. Some friends of mine can’t access their family photos now.

Janet: I agree; there are so many posts here it is hard to keep up!

Pip: I like pip. I must have missed the story about the sad anniversary but I’m sending you hugs.

Penny: interesting about the northern lights. Where exactly are you…how close to the pole and have you always lived there? \

Sherry: you are doing so well!

    Katla: great nsvs!!!

Tere: that’s ok; I had an a.m cruchwrap the other

    Peggy: welcome!

Joan: good job on the weight loss

Carey: those nightmares sound awful and I hope you get better sleep tonight

Carol: I have been struggling to get my steps in too. I keep saying I will do 10 minutes on the treadmill in the morning, but won’t get out of bed early enough to accomplish it. Sheesh

Yvonne: glad you stayed dry with the floods. My parents and the older generations are all from TX and even though I have never lived there I somehow feel I’m from there!

Yanniejannie: I had to buy a new shredder recently due to similar issues

Mia: we are dedicated furball parents too!

Sylvia: WHAT are you doing in the ER????? When did you get chest pain? What have the dr said???...later…glad you are home. Please take care!

Margaret: it’s nice to have meaningful mementos from the past, isn’t it?

Jules: congrats on the weight loss. It is your hubby who has the cancer?

Vicki: we might float away! IT has been raining two days in a row and supposed to rain all weekend. It’s thundering and storming now. Too bad for this weekend, we have the summer arts festival, another arts festival, Bette Midler concert, and the Festa Italiana all going on at once!

    Terri: congrats to DS!

Dee: what a great birthday present!!! You old house got set up in flames on my birthday! Like a big candle!

Well it’s stormy here so I’d best get off the computer! Tomorrow I’m going to Lincoln for a conference. Take care all, meg from stormy Omaha!

Well ladies I am alot better... On Wednesday I did have a 1.75 loss and I know exactly why! I am going to get on some kind of regiment, so that doesn't happen again. Lots of veggies, and 2 granola bars in one day shouldn't have done it, but maybe it did... Also my homemade granola was rolled oats, and with all the water (64 oz a day at least) I might of activated oatmeal in meself! We we are living science experiments aren't we?
Pushed myself for 40 minutes swimming laps today. I was breathing heavy and it really felt wonderful. Probably did a bit more than a 1/2 mile. Came home and ate tuna boats, and have just came in from sunning myself on the veranda! (well its a balcony, but today its a verrrraaaanda!) I am going to be a tanned goddess by next week if this weather stays as lovely as today is!
This weeks TOPS meeting was a bit disheartening. One person gave us an update on the condition of a friends son, and that started the floodgates of updates. Don't get me wrong, I am not heartless, nor uncaring, but there are members that don't know these people, friends of past members, etc, and I am one of them. So instead of being uplifted, and modivated I was feeling guilty, and sad. Guilty because I am at least healthy , not like so-and-so they were speaking about. I want to bring it up with the leader, but I am hesitent in doing so. This is one complicated bunch of ladies.... and I would never wish to hurt their feelings.
On the good side I have gotten them to sing some inspiration songs early in the meeting! TOPS related ones, and a gal plays the piano or her accordian. Like songs you sang at camp!
I am going to encourage members to start logging what they eat. The lady that won the "best loser" had lost over 6 lbs for the week. She loses and gains that much in the next week and that is really not a healthy way to lose. She never explains how she lost it, (giving modivating info) and it seems suspicious to me. I know its not my business, but when she earns the best loser basket, and quarters for people that don't put stuff in the basket, at least she can do is say how she lost it. One of the ladies picked fresh spinach for gosh sakes!
Well no more school for the teenager, and we gave him the option of working out with us most every day, or getting a job, or a licence. He is only 16 so he wasn't too keen on driving yet, and said he will work out with us. It will keep him off the computer for a spell anyway! That and reading books from the library like candy, so he can win a Kindle. Maybe I will make him an account on here. He has to gain weight, and muscle! His worst thing happening he said is come the time he graduates from high school he is still too slim to join the Navy. So best to start now eh?
