3 months of Starting Strength at a deficit.
Starting weight was 210, current weight is 185. Better progress than I ever hoped to see. Can't wait to see what the next 3 months bring.

Edit: I just read the post about "please don't post pics of yourself flexing because it will scare girls who don't want to get bulky" so sorry if my offensively huuuuuge muscles scare anyone away
Can I report this for being so badass???1 -
I only started lifting this year. I started with Stronglifts 5x5 in Feb and switched to Ice Cream Fitness 5x5 about mid April.
The Feb picture was the first day of lifting this year.
And here are some comparisons from 1 month before starting lifting to earlier this month:

Great job everyone!! I'm back to working out and am lifting with you tube videos with the heaviest dumbbells I could use. Seeing this thread is what keeps me going. I'm almost on my 4th week of lifting, 4 days lifting, 1 day HIIT, and 1 day yoga. I'm not weighing myself at all because I don't want to get discouraged. Last time I weighed myself I was about 120. I'm going by how I feel and by visually seeing a transition. I'm hoping that I will see results by like my 3rd month! I hope. Congrats to everyone on here....great inspiration!0

Awesome thread! Such an inspiration I've just started lifting with free weights, after using machines and dumbbells for the past 2 months. I can't wait to see the results after 3 months when I have my big holiday. The only regret that I have is not starting lifting with free weights a lot sooner!0

How do you all know where to start with lifting? Do you just do your own thing or would you ask the staff in the gym?
I have an awesome group of friends on here that lift who are always willing to help me out and answer any questions I may have.
Start with a beginner program, here are some popular ones around here:

I am 57 years old. I have no idea how much I weigh now. I last weighed around 142 and my goal weight is 125. I got down to 135lbs and was a size 10. Then March 1, 2015 I started doing strong lift 5x5. I then lost 17 inches and am now a size 5-7 depending on fit. I also went from doing 21 to 24 hours of cardio every week to ZERO I only do strong lift 5x5 for an hour every other day. I also changed from eating 1260 calories to 1600 +. I started lifting with a 12.5 lb bar and now lift 109 lbs squat, 100lb sumo squat, bench 83lbs, barbell row 89lbs, over head press 62lbs, and deadlift 137lbs.

Two things to keep in mind. I am 5'6 and 216 lbs.... so technically considered obese. I do have plenty of meat (working on that!), but there is no part of me that feels or looks obese. Love lifting!!! And no... I never make my bed

Before I started on MFP (and before lifting and eating at a deficit) - about 185lb
Me at the end of my cut after a little over a year, lifting the whole time - about 148lb
With clothes on - probably about 151lb if I recall
Towards the end of my recent bulk - 158lb
Sorry for the pic bomb.
You did awesome!!

Bumpity Bump! Because this thread shouldn't be buried.1

Well hey. I've been reading this for over a year and getting so much inspiration! I've been lifting on and off now for 1,5 years, and have my own gym at home now. Started with 12 kg kettlebell, and now free weights up to 150 kg. The last year was hard and I didn't have the opportunity to train until June this year. I feel I'm strong and fab but when I see my pics I don’t look anything like I feel, or maybe in the lower middle pic. The newest, lower right, I only look fat to my eye. The pt told me that with my weight if there weren't any muscles I'd be huge
But still, I feel like I'd need some support!
The pictures are dated left upper 10 years ago, left middle 3 years ago, and then the rest are taken in about the time of last year, and are timelined.

If lifting is wrong then I don't want to be right. Start weight was 245 lbs I started out with cardio but about 6 months into my weight loss journey I discovered lifting and never looked back. I wish more women weren't afraid to lift heavy. It is such an empowering feeling you get when you do.
