Previous totals: 1 spin class, 3 short rides totaling 7.4 miles
Since 9/3:- 1 spin class
- 1 family ride of 8 miles @ kid pace (8.7 mph)
- 1 errands ride of 4.4 miles @ 11.9 mph (half of the ride with 20 pounds of groceries on the bike)

On April 15 after 10 years off the bike, I decided to get back in shape. With this ride, I am currently at 1,004 miles (1606 km) and 83 hours in the saddle since April 15. My goal which seemed unobtainable at the time was to do 1,000 miles (1600 km) by the end of the year. With some personal effort and a good bit of encouragement from friends, I was able to complete it with almost 3 months to spare. Feeling good.

Thanks @saphin -- I went for a 6 mile ride last night and ti was the first ride without any pain whatsoever. I decided to ride to work today and I didn't have one issue during the 10 mile ride -- I think its coming around.
I wasn't stretching at all over the past few months and I think that was a big factor in the injury starting. It wasn't until I started to stretch my legs out that I realized how stiff they had gotten.0 -
I recently started commutting to work by bike (10miles each way) so I'm shooting for 420 miles, or roughly 17.5 hours of biking this month! So far, I'm 30 miles in!0

I think I was over optimistic about my goal for this month and am going drop it to 300 miles. I will not be able to put in a hundred a week to reach the goal. I am feeling good these last few rides, hills still suck, but my average pace is getting better.
