What a difference calories make! Son's birthday dinner last night so I splurged a little and got 275x7 on squat this morning.

Nice, deep squats @McCloud33 . Beltless at that... I'm impressed. More calories always equate to more weights for me.

And since I'm a pervert: is somebody shooting a porno in the background?

Pardon my language, but bench is such a *kitten* for me, and it is already so low in relation to my squat and deadlift numbers, and it is also way low compared to what other girls in my weight class are benching. I am working on putting more mass on my upper body, but I need to fix the mental part too. Is there anyone here that used to have mental issues with bench but then got over them? If so, how did you accomplish that?

My bench has been a troubled soul. I've dislocated my right shoulder a lot in my adult life (it's one of the reasons I started lifting weights actually) and it's the one lift that has, in the past, put the fear of god into me.

It took me 2-3 years of not tearing my shoulder out of it's socket to get over the fact that it's not going to happen. Not very insightful, I guess. I just did every single rep as perfectly as I could and treated each one like a single. And in time the accumulation of reps got me moving forward without really thinking about it.

I've even come to the point where I enjoy it and that's not something I ever thought I would feel about benching...

@ash_law - I used to have huge mental issues and blocks on bench. Then one day at team training, my coach had enough of me mentally quitting on sets when there was physically still a lot left in the tank. So he told me that he wasn't going to rescue me, loaded the bar past my max, and forced me to do a three board single. And then we did all the accessory work for bench, and I had to go back after that and repeat the single.

Tough love, it wouldn't work on everyone, but it worked on me. Three weeks later I added 11kg to my max after being stuck at 55kg for 9 months. I've been making consistent progress since then.

Thanks @_incogneato_ not quite a 275 powerclean like yours, but it's what I got. You're on your own with whatever is going on in the background LOL

Does anyone else find that they prefer doing squats OUT of the cage and with no safety? For whatever reason, just knowing that if I don't stand back up, I'm going to have to drop it gives me just that much more motivation to stand up. Maybe it's just me.

On this morning's manifest was to test OHP since I am bringing that back into my program once a week after an injury shied me away from it for a few months.

    https://youtu.be/YWRJkAs3V5Y?t=11s

I failed 185 lbs. Almost had lockout but, gravity.

    https://youtu.be/nVWaFyL0De0?t=17s

Went back for 175 lbs. Nailed. I supposed I could have attempted 180 lbs, but since its not a competitive lift, I am not very concerned about 5 pounds. I hope to bodyweight (210 lbs) OHP by end of June -- or at least get close.

    OHP: 70x7, 90x5, 105x5, 125x1, 145x1, 165x1, 185x0, 175x1. (New 1RM).

Nicely done @nakedraygun ! You totally had 185. I would have tried it again instead of dropping down. And just to be a d!ck, it's really a push press and not an OHP you're doing, but like you said, it's not a competition lift so who cares. If you can get that close to 185 without training it, I bet you can hit 210 by the end of June. Good luck.

I can never keep the two straight for some reason. Its like the same with sweaters and sweatshirts, they do the same thing in my mind, I tend to describe them interchangeably even though I know which one I am wearing. (I think I have a sweater on now.)

Yeah, I probably should have attempted 185 again, but I'm fine with 175, didn't want to push things too much since I have not done them in months.

    Thanks!

That's interesting that you couldn't push press 185 but you can bench 3 plates. Probably just because you haven't trained it in a while, you'll probably catch up really fast. You could probably do 210 easy by summer. Our bench is almost the same but I can PP 225 pretty easily so you'll be there before you know it.

I last regularly trained press last summer. Meanwhile, I continued to train my bench. If I could rep 210 once by summer, I'd be happy, that would be about my bodyweight. I finally got a double body weight squat on the platform last weekend and pressing my weight would be a nice additional accomplishment.

I think you out bench me by 10 or 20 pounds @DopeItUp ?

Best ever is 325, myself. An ugly-ish 325.

315 but bro had hands on the bar, so yeah, ugly here too. Safely 305 lbs paused on a the platform last August. I hope to in the next 8 to 16 weeks to accumulate enough volume in bench to get it up to an ugly 325.

Proud of this and sharing everywhere. This paused 345lb PR is 10lbs more than my last tested T-N-G 1RM. It was a grinder, but it came up.

@_incogNEATo_ strong man right there...way to grind it up. When was that last T-N-G 1RM? That's a good jump especially going from TNG to paused.
