My maternal grandfather is very, very ill and in the hospital. Since my dad's a deadbeat alcoholic my grandfather has really stepped into his role over the last 10 years or so. I was so upset/crying/not sleeping last night and this morning that I decided to get one of those 450 cal apple pies from the vending machine at work.

With my finger over the button I stopped and got some sugar free gum instead.

I remembered that I had brought an apple as a snack, and that my grandfather would not want me to respond to his situation by clogging my own arteries with saturated fat.

Just for today, I will enjoy the hell out of my apple.

WHAT A GREAT JOB YOU DID!! When I get stressed out, which I have been a lot lately, I want to grab Junk food - like that 450 calorie pie. I am so proud of you for choosing the right food, and I am sure you felt SO much better. Keep up the great job. And, I am so very sorry for your grandfather, and will say a prayer for him, and for you.

    Thanks for this.

    Just for today:

I forgive myself and am starting again by,

    logging everything I eat.
    Staying within goals.

I'm in the same boat. Lost 28 lbs, got laid off, gained it back plus more due to stress. I too will forgive myself and start anew. : )

@Kullerva So sorry to hear about your grandpa, but how wonderful to hear that he has inspired you to make healthier choices. Tell him about it if you can. He will be so proud of you! Hang in there!

:naughty: Sodium :naughty: One of the hidden banes of our lives! Leads to water retention. Sounds contrary, I know, but drink more water. It flushes the sodium out of the system. Just don't drink it too late in the evening or you will be up to the bathroom all night lol!
