March 2016 Bike Bicycle Cycling Challenge

            Been a while since I have checked in. Still trying to make an effort to get on the bike regularly and had a nice few rides over March.
 For anyone that hasn't heard of it 30 days of biking starts in April.
 30 days of biking is pretty straight forward -- you can sign up here - http://30daysofbiking.com/ (free) to make a commitment to bike all 30 days of the month -- no distances too far or short, no repercussions if you don't.
 The coolest part is that for every 2 people that commit to 30 Days of Biking they will donate $1 to World Bicycle Relief.
 Its a good cause and always a great way to have a daily reminder to get on a bike.
 Last time I rode 30 days straight was last April.

            Backcountry.com has my favorite Giro wool jerseys on sale, yaay! I've now got three mostly wool short sleeved jerseys, which should take me through a whole week (or 2 [or 3 if I'm really lazy]) of riding without having to do laundry. If you're a bike commuter, I can't say enough good things about wool. You arrive at work all sweaty and icky, the jersey dries out pretty well in your locker during the day and you're not putting on a damp, clammy, stinky shirt for your ride home.
 Wrapping up March, less miles than I would have hoped, but I'll blame it on my bruised tailbone and not a post winter malaise. 30 days of biking starts tomorrow, looking forward to the challenge!

 My neighborhood shop is the Baker's Wife, which if they're fresh are aaaamazing. It's unfortunately a little too easy to stop on my way to work, but if I limit it to one it doesn't kill my calorie count. Any place you'd recommend?

            This last week the weather was horrible- rainy and windy and didn't get to bike ride but two days. I didn't hit my newest total for the month. However am pleased with the miles I did!

 Kinda slowed down a bit to let my knee heal. I bruised it in a balancing act trying to hold my bicycle and take a photo. When the bicycle fell, it hit the bottom part of my ITB rather sharply.

            Despite unpredictable midwestern weather....I got in almost 800 miles in March, so I feel pretty good about getting a good start on the cycling season. April has some weekend conflicts, so it won't be any higher, but I hope to top out over 1000 miles/month starting in May! Commuting to work is an easy way to rack up miles for those looking to increase activity without having a lot of time.0
