Hi All: New to the forum. My April goals are:
    1. Log everything I eat and drink
    2. Drink at least 4 glasses of water a day
Once I have these down, I add another.

It seems like a wonderfully supportive, fun group. I look forward to getting to know all of you.

Heather: I'm happy you finally have someone coming to check out your phone issues. I hope you'll have good internet access again soon. :flowerforyou:

Lisa: I followed your link to the sitting-rising test. I did great sitting, but my rising needs work. :embarassed: I think your plan to see family is wonderful and wise. I'm glad you're taking action.

Sylvia: Thanks for touching bases with us. (((HUGS)))

Jodie: Welcome! You've chosen your goals very well. I hope we se you often.

Pip: I've womaned a weed whacker before and I am positive you'll be burning LOADS of calories. Stay safe and don't hurt yourself. :flowerforyou:

Riding lesson today! Yay!!! It looks like we have a dry morning and that bodes well. After that I need to work on sitting and rising. Sitting is easy enough. Sitting/rising may become my new obsession. :noway:

So happy to find this group. Goals are wonderful and inspired. Hope for April to smile at least one time per hour, to be grateful for at least 3 things every day, and to sleep at least 7 hrs each night. I think moving my attitude will change my eating. It's my experiment for April

Katla ~ Thanks for your piece on walking!

Heather ~ Those two are the cutest.

Lisa ~ Enjoy your trip to visit Sis/Bro.

Pip ~ Good luck on selling your lot.

The Pom and the Black Cat are too funny to watch. Both are about the same size and they go nose to nose. This AM the Pom was busy looking for the Cat and didn't realize he was sitting on the dining room table watching him as he hunted.

Call me crazy but I love to see other people happy and succeeding .

    Good Morning Ladies,

Kim, even though I won’t be making a quilt I thought your idea about sending each other the book pieces was way cool. Have fun ladies.

Sioux, the quilt with men’s ties is a great idea. If you have one would you share a picture?

Rori, glad your labs are good. It doesn’t sound like a bad idea to do your colonoscopy early since you now have family with a history. Always better safe than sorry. Good luck in selling your condo.

Kay, I’m like you in that I really don’t like buying some things online that I can’t try first. Someone was talking recently about the Geni Bra’s. I used to wear them and at one time ordered 6 on a special. When they arrived two of them fit and the others were all different sizes, even though they all said the same size. Two of them are still too small and I’m down from a 44 to a 38. I hope your sis does well and I agree it won’t hurt her DD to help out for a few days.

Joyce, your parent’s quilt sounds so special. I understand why they treasured it.

Heather, glad you will finally get someone to come look for the exact problem. I hope it’s not going to be on your dime. smiley-laughing018.gif

Lisa, have a safe and fun trip to see family.

Sylvia, sending (((Hugs))) and healing thoughts for a quick and complete recovery. Wish I were close enough to lend a hand.

Chris, so happy for the great first date!!! I don’t know about the others but I am definitely interested in details. smiley-laughing007.gif

Jodi, welcome. You will find this a great place for support and information. Please tell us about yourself to help us get to know you. We also ask that you sign each post with your name and location, general or specific. Come often and join right in.

Pip, I don’t recall you saying why you are selling the lot? Good luck on the sale.

Noreen, we can see it when you quote and post. Can you not see it? We have often talked about a get together someplace. I know I would love to but for many of us the expense is all that would slow us down.

Margaret, so glad you are finding helpful information from the books. (((Hugs)))

T, welcome. It is always good to start slowly and add to what we do. Please tell us about yourself so we can start to get to know you. Come often and good luck.

Katla, very interesting stats on walking. Gee I may have to take it up.

Heather, great picture of the grands!!! I’ll bet Bea feels left out.

welcome.gifto any Newbies that I missed. Come often and join in the chat. This thing works!! Please sign your post with what you want to be called. It makes it easier for us to respond to you. Also a location is great, be it specific or general. We are happy to have you join us.

It’s still very cool but not raining. I think I will go hit a couple of sales today. I don’t desperately need anything but my birthday is in a couple of weeks so I feel the need to go look. Lol I got the handyman scheduled to come back on Monday and hope he finishes the list that day.Sending good thoughts for all of you and wishing you each a healthy and happy day. happy-spring-smiley-emoticon.gif
    Words I live by:
Savor. I have to slow down and savor every bite.
    and
Opportunity. Each day offers new opportunities for good health and happiness if we just look for them and choose them.

Hi friends. It’s a beautiful day here so I plan to walk the beagle later on. Thursday my students and I went to a service learning community site and after our health screening was over we did activities and that included a 45 minute Zumba class. I wasn’t going to even try it at first, then I thought “I can’t send my students out there and just sit here” so I did. I’m proud to say I outlasted all the students, didn’t trip on my numb foot, had over 11,000 steps that day and felt fine the next day! So now I need to increase my exercise because I know I can tolerate it.

I’m going to go to a new physical therapist next week to see if he can offer me anything new. I don’t feel like the other one was really addressing my back and this guy I’m seeing next week is a spine specialist. Right now I’m wearing an herbal patch on my back given to me by a friend/co-worker who is a physician from China. It’s pretty interesting; it’s all herbal and smells like vicks vapor rub. It is providing a very slight and odd combination of heating and cooling. It’s very soothing. After the PT runs out I’m going to try acupuncture next. The good news is that the feeling is starting to come back in that foot and the foot is definitely much stronger than before.

Benny continues to cough constantly, so it’s another consultation with the vet. We are trying to not scope him due to all his medical conditions and the drugs he takes. So we are trying different meds. The vet still thinks it’s reflux, so maybe we can increase what he is on now. Anyone else out there ever experienced constant coughing in a dog?

I’m seeing lots of nice pictures here which I enjoy. Sorry there are too many posts for me to reply to all. I’m really trying hard to make coming here a daily habit again. I feel like I’m missing out when I don’t.

Well, off to do a few chores then exercise. Tonight is date night and we are going to a keno lounge to see what it’s like. I’ve played keno before but never been to this place.
Take care to all. Hugs if you need them and high fives to everyone here. Meg from sunny Omaha

    Hi gals,

Sioux – I made a vest out of men's ties for friend once, it was mostly from ties previously owned by a friend who had passed away… taking them apart is a drag but such pretty fabric.

Rori – good deal on labs !

Katiebug – check on the shipping and return shipping charges, it might be cheaper to order a few sizes and ship the “nope” ones back then pay the gas and wear and tear on the car

Joyce – that is a great story about the quilt, it reminds me of a table cloth my mom has, when she and dad were first married she had a tablecloth (round I think) for the table a nice white cotton one and when she and dad had company and it was your first visit, you signed the table cloth – or wrote a note, or drew something, then mom would embroider over it and then wash it… She stopped using it when I was small..

Re-opening of the B&B for just one visitor will not be as much work as for the whole gang.

I think you are right that your sister knows best what she can tolerate, and what her quality of life is. Good for you for supporting her in what ever decision she makes.

Lisa – good for you to go a visiting!

    Sylvia – (((((((((((((((((hugs)))))))))))))))))))

Chris – yeah Lets hear it!!!

Noreen – I see your posts!!!

Margaret – WOW, excellent choices – excellent management of others expectations and your own expectations.

Heather – ahhh the joys of food coloring!!!

Meg – what is keno? Guess I could google it… LOL

    afternoon ladies~
can barely move... worked another 4 hrs at my father's house and I am Happy to say you can finally see the floor in both bedrooms. I dont know how many boxes of books I have taken downstairs, I found old record albums, I piled everything that looks like it is worth something on the dining room table.. and boxes and boxes and boxes of books piled all around... now I will wait until my brother comes home, and he can go through the books,,, I even found one of my dad's old wallets and there was a 20.00 bill and a 2.00 bill in there and a receipt from the bank from 1986 ,,, geesh. I should say finders keepers ,but dad needs it more than I..he is beyond thrilled that it is all getting cleaned up.. and in the back of my mind.. I am swearing at my mother for collecting all this junk...

Hey Ladies... quick question. Does anyone in our group have experience taking Strontium to counteract the effects of osteoporosis?
    Thanks!

There are days when I feel like Kathy Bates in Fried Green Tomatoes, "I'm to young to be old and I'm to old to be young."

I cracked up when I read this. I SO relate. I never really liked that movie until I got to a certain age.... lol My husband and I always threaten to do the "I've got better insurance" move on some little whelps that sneak into a parking spot you've been waiting on.

Busy day today and busy tomorrow. It's our annual family participation in The Run for the Rose, a 5K fundraiser run for research for brain cancer. My mom died from brain cancer way way back (35 years ago) when and we run and raise money in memory of her. It was cool that last year I met a man who had the very same cancer my mom had, same location etc. When my mom was diagnosed there was nothing they could do, no surgery (center of brain and they didn't know how to operate and separate the brain hemispheres back then) and no chemo worked. Radiation only shrunk it for a short while. She lived 10 months after being diagnosed. This man had been cancer free for 5 years all due to advanced made through research. It really does make a difference.

So tomorrow I do a little 5K. I'm running side by side with two of my 8 yr old grand-daughters. It will be their first timed race and they are super pumped. I'm thinking I'm going to have to slow them down so they make it the full distance. :) Or else they may speed me up!

    Sunny in Houston,
    Marcelyn

Heather, loved the picture your DDIL sent you. The way that precious little girl is looking up to her big brother is so precious.

Couldn't sleep very well last night. I knew I was going to go to Christopher and Banks today. They have a 'VIP" preview sale this weekend. 40% off everything in the store plus an additional $10 or $20 off according to how much you spend. OOPS. Before my discount my bill was $519! That's the cost of gaining back 30 pounds. None of last springs clothes fit me. It was very busy and I stood in line over an hour. But we were all standing in line for a long time and just spent time talking to the group around you.

    Sit & Rise = 7.5

I took off 1/2 point because I sort of plopped for the last six inches or so going down. I used one knee and one hand getting back up so that was -2. Not too bad for arthritic knees, I think.

HOLEEE EXPLETIVE-INDUCING TERRORTHRILLS, I walked my scaredy-cat self out to the end of the (bouncy, bouncy) springboard and then I threw myself off it.
And then I did it again.
    Several times.

    Happy Saturday!
