I would really like to join. I am 45 and have lost 60lbs. so far by using clean eating techniques, drinking water and walking. I would love to know all I could though, from others, since my body just isn't responding like in the past.

Getting my eating under control has been the biggest struggle. What's been working for me is a change in my mentality about myself, and how I think about food. I've begun to think of myself as an athlete, not a sports specific athlete, or a professional anything, but just a life athlete. Once I started to see myself through that lens, I started to look at food as "Does this food help me or hurt me?" If it hurts me, I either don't eat it or I eat very little of it. I mean, let's get real; I enjoy beer and junk food, but I've cut it WAY back because it's not doing ANYTHING good for me. When I get the urge to sleep in, or sit on the couch and eat a bowl of chips and queso, I think "Would an athlete do that?" It all comes down to discipline and holding myself accountable to being a life athlete.

I don't know if any of that will work for you, but that's what has helped me get on a better track.

This makes a lot of sense actually. I have really been trying to look at things in a different way. My husband tries to help but because of my passed relationships, when he tries to help I see him griping that I am not good enough. To answer you, yes I think this helps and I am going to start over AGAIN tomorrow. Today was one of those days no matter how hard you try it just doesn't happen. Wish me luck and Thank you!!!!!

    Done ~~
1 minute of planking for a daily challenge.
Cardio - 45 minutes of SUP, low mileage (1.75 miles) due to practicing various paddling techniques and some strong storm winds blowing through. Tomorrow is a rest day -- Yippie! -- just have to clean the board and equipment for Saturday (I know I should have done it today, but really think a nap is in my near future).

sdereski, I am heading into a 10-day period of travel and various kidlet activities and I won't have a workout in the next ten days! Yikes!! Then again, my body is very tired and stress from this "ovarian mass" is taking its toll....so, perhaps a week of "rest" is ok.

allenpriest - congrats on dropping another pants' size! I am going in the other direction...having gained about 10 lbs since xmas....and this is rotten. I will try and maintain at this weight....and then post-surgery, I will try and dump it off (again!!).

    BOOM!

Last time the pants were so loose I went down two sizes. Also have to replace summer shorts as those just fall off. It's kind of funny.

Hello everyone - this is my first post in this thread. I joined MFP 3 years ago but slacked off after a few months. I have just gotten back and soooo glad that I found this thread! I am a 5'3" 42yo female (my profile pic doesn't give any clue so I think I better mention this). My goals are: get down to 125lbs, optimize my fitness, improve body shape (just to name a few haha). I was ~150lbs in Jan, which was not my all time high but close... Currently at 135 - this hasn't budge for a few days but hanging in there. I like bike riding and have just gotten back to weight training a month ago (1 time a week at the moment hoping to make it to 2). I am from Hong Kong so half a globe away from some of you here I guess? English is not my native language so please excuse me if anything I say came out weird or impolite!

C25k week 7 day 3 yesterday. Two miles running, 1.3 miles walking.

Also, last night was bowling night. 3 hours of hurling a 15-pound ball at stationary objects. It's a sport league, which means we're bowling on PBA oil patterns, which always adds a challenge. I had two good games and two meh games. I guess that's not too terrible for being away from the game for a year.

Hi everyone. Just turned 40 last year and looking to drop a few pounds. I joined the year after the birth of my 2nd baby, back in 2012. For various reasons I could not maintain the logging in and lost my way. Fast forward to 2016 and I now feel I have the time and motivation to finally get my butt in gear!

Look forward to hearing your stories!

~~waves to all the new people!! Welcome! ~~
**Kudos to all those logging their activity! Way to be accountable**

Didn't log much yesterday because I was exhausted. Yesterday was SUP race day...(and today will be another post-race rest day).

1hour 20 minutes of cardio and 3.85 miles of racing - Done (20.7 minute miles). Thought my times were super bad since I was at the end of the pack, but actually it was just the race field was fast and the conditions were so much better than last year. I did lose some steam near the end (I was trying for sub 20 minute miles like in my first race this month) and need to figure out why I lost steam, since I was staying hydrated and made sure I ate some bars before going out. Although this was my fourth race in three weeks so it could just be my body is just plain tired. It's been a very aggressive race month locally (usually we get ~2 races / month max) and the conditions in the previous two races were challenging with high winds and swells, which beat me up a bit. Yesterday was beautiful with low chop, though the wind picked up near the end of my race. Still any day on the water is a great day.

So checking in for my fitness goals...
    1. Work out goals:
-- 4 races completed for the month! Hallelujiah!
-- Accomplished cardio at least 4 times this past week (think it was actually 5 total)
-- Didn't do my strength training with bands goal. Will work on it for this upcoming week.
-- 2 days of Kettlebell done this past week.
-- Missed the plank challenge yesterday, but otherwise on track.
    2. Still working on my macro tracking, but it's going in the right direction highlighting areas where I need to boost/adjust my intake.
    3. Success at drinking over 8 glasses of water a day for the whole week.
    4. Still working on 7-9 hours of sleep a night, had a couple days under 7 this past week.

All in all a positive healthy week. Now, to repeat this pattern and do it better this week!!

Already walked 2 miles today. I know it isn't much, but it is for me here lately. Hopefully, I will at least a 30 minute work out in gym today before class tonight. Starting the week out right!
