Okay, I strained my shoulder trying to control a friend's crazy dog from running away in a strange neighborhood. I'll try this again in July maybe, or August if need be. Have fun!

Ugh having a mental block with getting Day 17 (120 sec) done in one set. Ended up doing 3.5 minutes total, but still couldn't pull off 120 sec in one set yet. My sets were: Straight Arm for 61 seconds; Flex Arm for 30 seconds; Straight Arm for 91 seconds; Flex Arm for 31 seconds. Tomorrow is another day.

I run a martial arts school in Memphis, TN, and every month for 2016 I've been issuing a challenge to my students. This exact challenge was the one we did in January! For those of you pursuing it, it's tough, but YOU CAN DO IT!

I was really glad we tackled this as our first Challenge, because it really drove something home to me.

I don't have to hold Plank for 4 more minutes, or whatever the clock says. I just have to hold on for ONE MORE SECOND... and I can do just about ANYTHING for one second!

What about the second after that one? Or the next one?

They don't exist. The only thing that exists, the only thing that really matters, is THIS second, right now. Why should I worry about something that doesn't even exist?

Good luck, and hang in there!

Day 9 - 1 minute each in bent arm and straight arm done!! Again with 3 minutes rest in between. The rest really gave me the recovery time I needed to perform the latter set in better form.

Ah I love planking! Wish I saw it sooner! I really lose track of time when I'm doing it, I just kind of buckle down haha :)
Does anyone move their leg to the side then back to centre again as a challenge? :)

Day 18 complete @slimgirljo15 . I did have to take a break after the first 100 seconds, but I got it done. Looking forward to the day off tomorrow.

Day 16 done. 2 minutes was tough but doable. I'll be looking forward to that rest on Day 19.

So good to push ourselves out of our comfort zone.
I know I am weak when it comes to the core so I am taking this One Month Plank Challenge - All Welcome !

@Holly_Wood_888 How are you going with the challenge?

It's OK to tweak it according to your current abilities and activities.

I completed it in April, and have done many 5 minute planks since then, but since last weekend when I did 42 km of mountain bushwalking, I've given my body a rest. Will get back to it tonight.

Fallen off the plank wagon for a few days here...but trying to get back on. Going to call Day 17 done, even though I had to break them apart again instead of doing all one set. At this point, I'd rather do shorter sets of good form than gut out a single set with bad form, and at least get through the challenge than being stalled on 120 seconds. Maybe next month I can work on doing them all in one set.

Total: 3 minutes (180 seconds) in three sets of 75 seconds, 62 seconds and 46 seconds.

I got to 130 sec and fell off! Its been off and on - may have to restart. On the bright Side I joined fit body boot camp and have been going there (HIIT) 4x week :)

Thanks for posting!! I was wondering if I had gotten to a typical break point at Day 17/18, because it seems like it is a hard hump to get over in one set. It was to the point this past week, where I was dreading doing the planks because of it, so I was just avoiding them. This has further convinced me that for now, I just need to break it into multiple sets to push through the rest of the challenge, and as I get stronger, I can try to do it all in one if/when I redo the challenge.

Day 20 - Done (3 sets - 61 sec, 61 sec, 66 sec for 3 minutes total). Skipping Day 19 of rest until Friday (when I probably won't be able to fit them into my schedule) since I'm just coming off a hiatus of not doing them.

Day 21 and 22 complete @slimgirljo15. I had to break it up into 4 sets, but I got it done. Sorry again for missing yesterday. Definitely won't make that mistake again.

I think it is still pretty open...just start planking and logging...

    Day 22 - Done! (4 sets - 61 sec, 65 sec, 70 sec, 65 sec = over 4 minutes)

Day 1 complete! I forgot how hard that is! Several years ago built up my planking and wall sit time with a group of friends. Looks like I'm back at square one. pretty excited about the challenge. going to add sits for an equal amount time.

Missed a couple of days, but got one more in...

    Day 23 - Done! (4 sets - 61 sec, 62 sec, 63 sec, 68 sec = over 4 minutes)

Going to be out of town for the next few days. Will try to do my planks while gone, but probably won't be logging until I get back.

    Yay, @b3achy !

Looks like you might be the only person after me to complete this challenge.

(I completed it in April, and do 5 minute planks every few days (on average) since then.)

Thanks @Orphia - I've been a bit inconsistent with doing the days together, but even if I miss a few days, I am working on getting back in there to eventually get to that 5 minute mark. It's hard to be motivated to keep it up after about day 15 for some reason...but I'm seeing some physical goodness that I don't want to lose. Also, I want to have a strong core for paddleboarding, and know this is helping.

Hey Lady, I fell off at 120 seconds and haven't made the time to get back to it. Although ... ( My whole body is stronger after attending 28 day Summer Fit Body Boot Camp!)
I can finally do a push up ! I think ill start more challenges when things are less busy in the fall.
Way to go on your progress btw ! :D
