What nobody tells you about losing weight

I am cold almost all the time. I dread for winter to get here. Does this ever stop? I have lost 70 pounds and maintaining for about a year now.!
Winter is brilliant. I was always so hot blooded I could never wear sweaters/jumpers etc.
Last winter I wore them all the time and loved it, losing weight opened up a whole new line of clothing to me!17 -

My mother in law brought over a box of cupcakes because she "couldn't have them in her house" tonight. She told me she wasn't trying to be mean because she knows I'm calorie counting. But
The good ole "mother in law"…. I'd smile at her.. put them down the disposal when she leaves. .then lie to her telling her how you enjoyed each one. Then be five pounds thinner the next time you see her.

How rejuvenating it can be, both literally and figuratively! Anyone feeling hesitant about even trying anymore to get fitter if they are in their 50s, 60s, etc might find this encouraging. I was experiencing nightly acid reflux, plantar fasciitis, and various other problems including just general fatigue and less flexibility. I attributed it to aging. But I have lost 37 pounds in 2016 and the acid reflux and plantar fasciitis seem to be pretty much gone. I have more energy and my body feels more limber. It actually makes me feel like my younger self and that is quite a gift to have given myself.
I hate to admit that i've suffered from Planter fascists for the past two years. I keep trying different things to fix it..and I hope losing 20 pounds will do the trick. LIving with nagging pain everyday..makes me feel old.4 -

Dont they realize that your on a Diet and they are not helping you!?!? Don't they realize how important it is to you??? A (insert your number) lbs loss was not a walk in park. Jeez
I finally had the will to say thank you to a left over 2/3 burger family didnt want and threw it in the garbage when they werent looking. Normally I wouldnt put that stuff in my system anyway. If Im going to spend my precious calories it better be for something I want not someone's left overs.
It was fun while it lasted, (having the super stomach and eating a mountain of food), but Im not a teenager anymore. Cant get away with it.
Eating crappy food doesnt make me happy.
As I lose weight my re-calculated BMR goes down and I have to be stricter with diet and exercise. My crappy small diet portions are getting smaller and I can only splurge on the high activity days. The littlest deviation on relatively sedentary days is sending the scale in wrong direction .
Smaller meals are making me sleepy and I'm not really hungry anymore, what gives.
I bought my first size 36 (from 42? or 48?) pants (i guessed right) and a large shirt (from 2x). (Wish it was under happier circumstances) Not one dress pants looked right. I now realize how much of a cancer patient I must have looked like. Now all my scrubs have got to go. They look horrible, now Im self concious about the baggy clothes. I guess It looked like I was advertising the weightloss rather than being oblivious.
You now need strength training to raise that BMR. Your car needs a bigger engine! "exercise" isn't enough. do it!9 -

I had custom orthotics made. It made the pain go away and eventually the planter fascists was gone entirely. (the bone spur must have disintegrated with wearing the orthotics because they gave my feet better support). And I hadn't lost any weight at that point.5 -
That you'd look almost as bad wearing things that are too big as you did wearing too tight things. I'm short and look like I'm playing dress up in my clothes, but I'm too far from goal to buy new pieces.19

For me, I have spared my injured back by losing weight when I was at my highest at 219 lbs. also my self image improved and I have been able to find love and healing with my body, when before I used to denigrate myself. Now I enjoy taking my shirt off and not look like am pregnant anymore! ( no offense ladies15

I have PCOS as well, losing 100 lbs has pretty much eliminated my symptoms. I now have regular cycles, no dark patches Of skin, no more pelvic pain, and I had a beautiful daughter, which I was told would be near impossible with my PCOS!41 -
Oh jeeze, everyone talking about how uncomfortable their beds got after losing weight made me realize something. I have to get an actual bed. Hopefully I won't be in a top floor apartment when I lose a significant amount of weight! Sleeping on foam pads on the floor won't cut it anymore!
The first time I lost weight, I was surprised that I went down a ring size of all things. I did not expect to go from a 7 to a 6. It blew my mind. I think your hands losing weight has to be one of the trippiest things.14 -

Yes, smaller fingers and feet. I'm down half a size in my shoes and down 3+ sizes in my wedding band. Mine is an 8, I couldn't wear it for a while and bought a ring to wear until I lost the weight. It was a 9. Now I need a 5-1/2.
How hard it is to wrap your mind around the fact that you are smaller. I still have a hard time adjusting to my new sizes. I keep wanting to walk into the plus size section and when I pick up clothes that I know in my head is the right size I still feel like it's wrong.9 -
I didn't realize how much my face would change. I thought I just had tiny, unattractive eyes. Now they look positively huge!18

Your shoes may no longer fit.
Don't be too quick to resize your wedding bands, most jewelers won't do it more than twice.
Find and make friends with your local consignment shop, don't splurge too much on clothes until you reach (and have stayed for a while at) goal.
Some of your friends and family members will not be supportive.
It's not a linear process (especially for us girls)! Some days/weeks you will not lose anything and that's okay. Stick to your plan.
I did lose a shoe size...went from 14's to size 13's!7 -
If anything I think my bed has gotten more comfortable.

That's another thing I notice ! My feet shrunk lol. Even the feet change and your head size too11

That the dr's lied. When I would go to the dr and tell them my legs or bones hurt they would tell me lose weight and you will stop. LIARS!!! I hurt more now. I can't lay on my side if my knees touch they hurt. It hurts when I sit in a chair without cushion.
That my monthly would get crazy. Before I was every month on the dot person now I can get one twice in a month or skip one all together. I am not old enough for menopause.11 -

I became overweight beginning in the third grade and your story definitely reminded me of how it felt to be the wrong size growing up. I remember trying to squeeze my knees as close as possible when I sat on a bench with my peers because I was painfully aware that I took up a lot more space than they did. Now I'm always surprised at how much room there is everywhere I go.
I feel for both of you. Same experience only mine was in Girl Scouts. We were weighing ourselves for the health badge or something - I made sure to sneak so no one would see my actual weight since I knew in 2nd grade I'd be 20lbs heavier than every other girl.7 -

Every once in a while I can also feel what I think is my heartbeat in my abdomen, just below the ribcage, near the diaphragm. It freaked me out really bad the first time.6 -

Yeah, I had this when I was working as midwife of all things. The person concerned was mortified, but not as mortified as I was. I still didn't do anything about shifting the weight until four years later though6 -

Yep, that's another gross thing - I can see my body puslating (where the pulses should be) - wrists, ankles, just below the sternum. Yuck, yuck, yuck.2 -

haha!! Funny… but so true..how after becoming aware and educated on food...you can notice when you are eating to just eat…and before you'd just keep on eating and never notice..
