I never got it when people said "I want to look like I did when I was back in high school/college/etc" because I was always big "back in the days". Instead I get to look at myself in the mirror now and see a body that I absolutely love for the first time ever. It's pretty neat!
This. I'm not there yet, but I know it's going to happen. Thanks for inspring me.

Ditto! It also didn't make bra shopping easier. The band size going down, but the cup size not going down makes for even less options.
Both of you. Realize the rare combo of a skinny waist and huge tits are things a lot of people pay a lot of money for.
I guarantee the "surgical" ones look better than mine!
That may be, but you probably look great in a sweater. Be grateful to be you.
I've seen so many women do this that I want to to just yank them: if their hair is straight, they want it curly. If it's curly they want it straight. If it's long they want to cut it, if it's short, they want to grow it out. If they have big boobs they want them smaller. If they have small boobs they want them larger. If they are pasty they want a tan, if they're dark, they want to be light. Don't waste another day wanting to be anything but the best version of your own self. Do you and and enjoy who God made you to be.
This post is amazing. And the theme of it applies to men as well, if not all of the the specific examples. Thanks for posting it .
Thanks, it does apply to men too. Maybe especially men. Enjoy you!2 -

I can't wait to feel this way. I am just 10.6lbs away from being at my lowest adult weight. I've always been in the obese BMI range. My goal weight is something I haven't weighed since middle school. Your post gives me hope.16 -
During my first weight loss of 60lbs:
-That the best presents you could get for your birthday are shopping vouchers of your favorite store, as you are going through shrinking pants sizes like no other
- That your mom might start trying to offer and feed a delicious food you every time you visit, as she is concerned you are losing too much and will get anorexic. My sister had issues with anorexia in the past, so this was quite understandable
- That friends will get jealous and try to find new flaws due to your weight loss
- That body insecurity does not magically disappear, you will always find new things you are insecure about, if you are not addressing the real issue
-That you will always pick out the wrong size for a long time24 -
That I would love wearing tighter fitting clothes now, even more so than when I was a teenager!14

And, that tighter fitting clothes actually look better on everyone. Baggy clothes add inches.18 -
That you will find a new self assurance and assertiveness that you never had before, and people can't put one over you any more24

That if you eat a big meal for dinner you will still feel full the next day13

I feel this big time!! it's like an inner warior4 -
I second the clothes. no one really noticed my 56 poind loss (other than family) but I hadn't bought new work clothes. I wore clothes to work that fit and 3 people in the same day commented on my loss.
how do you answer the "how much have you lost question?"
for me it's my personal challenge and that number is private....I was asked and answered but I don't want to answer that11 -

I feel the same way. I usually flip it. "Oh no, I've gained!" Then list some things I'm stoked about. My mile time is better, I'm stronger, new clothes. I try to have fun with it.11 -
That your stomach caves in when you lay down on the bed. LOL23

I've actually found the opposite.. if I eat a big meal at night for some reason I'm starving in the morning. You would think there would still be food there. So I'm not sure what's up with that.11 -
That I don't know where to shop! I am looking forward to getting some new clothes soon. My husband mentioned today that I should let him know where to get gift cards from for clothes for my birthday and Christmas...both coming up soon. I realized that it has been over 20 years since I have shopped for clothes anywhere other than plus-sized stores. Now that it looks like I will be able to buy size 16 or, hopefully even smaller...I literally have no idea where I want to go. I guess I have to start doing some online shopping prep.20

how do you answer the "how much have you lost question?"
This one is hard - esp the more you lose. I find it very invasive. So now I talk in percentages - oh, as of today, I've lost 50% of my starting weight. No normal person will press further, although there are idiots out there.
I also believe that hiding the numbers - starting weight, pounds lost - keeps a sense of shame hanging overhead. Once I shared those numbers with SELECT people, ppl who deserve to be trusted with them, I felt freer, more honest and less ashamed. It's a pretty amazing feeling. Just know that not everyone has earned that right, and choose carefully.21 -

percentages good idea!!! I don't even care if people know what I weighed it's more just once they know you lost 55 pounds then they ask next month and if I haven't lost it puts pressure on me and it's private for me not others10 -
So not used to having bones!
Somehow I feel like I'm clumsier than before, because I keep bumping my hips and bottom and chest against everything. Not sure if I was doing the same 70 pounds earlier, but I know now I feel the impacts!8 -

I get this problem too, both now and in the past - definitely extra-hungry the next morning even if I was stuffed to the point of discomfort the night before.3 -

I now feel overwhelmed clothes shopping and I don't know what my style is anymore! Buying clothes I really like rather than ones that fit has been a real change!9 -
That even though you're glad and proud to have lost weight, and when friends and family quietly and privately compliment you it makes you really happy, when well meaning people point out and congratulate you on your weight loss loudly and publicly you will feel MORTIFIED.28

Lane Bryant has pretty clothes in the size 14-16 range. I don't know if you have those stores in the malls near you.2 -
● need to change the way you shave your armpits because there is a dip
● realise you don't get kankle anymore
● spend an awful lot of time in clothes shops trying to see what's styles suit rather than just baggy
● forgetting that's your knickers should be a few sizes smaller as well !!!
● you WILL look at your face side profile whilst driving and like what you see
● talk about the old foods an awful lot but won't go near them... just in case
● try not to get angry when people say "when are you going to stop" when you're still a stone away from STILL being classed as overweight and not being on a 'diet' .... but it's a lifestyle change
● how when you find the exercise you enjoy it gets addictive19 -

Personally, I have no problems answering questions about my weight in exact numbers (and never did), but I have seen clever answers to this question from people who are sensitive about the numbers such as the one you mentioned. I've even heard "I lost 2 ring sizes so far" once. In many cases people just think they are being nice by offering a chance to talk about your weight loss achievement because they think stating the exact numbers would make you feel proud of yourself. It's a bit naive, but in most cases well-meaning.11 -

I'm the same! My BMI has been in the obese range for well over a decade, and right now I'm literally 0.5 or so away from being 'overweight' instead of obese.19 -
I don't really care about sharing my numbers. I mean, it isn't like it's some secret that I'm fat. It is pretty bloody obvious. So, for me, it is not a big deal.24
