What trendy foods do you refuse to purchase?

I also saw people wondering why people eat turmeric. It tastes good, so it makes my food yummier. But, it was suggested by my Rheumatologist as a possible way to reduce inflammation. For people with inflammation pain disorders. To help avoid meds. We are keeping me off meds as long as we can because I only developed these problems from misdiagnoses and medical injury. It's harmless enough to be worth a try.2

My lab just released research on tumerics effect on reducing/halting alzheimers progression. It is definitely worth a try.4 -
Omg when bacon was a huge trend and they started making bacon toothpaste, bacon soap, and bacon shampoo. No thank you, I don't want my hair to smell like bacon and get attack by animals on the trails haha2

They don't sell cronuts anywhere near here, but someone told me about stevia as a replacement sugar I think though I can't really remember tbh. I was looking it up and then it said something about it could possibly mess with your fertility, but there isn't any studies on humans though....I don't think I will try it.1 -
I use stevia.

Anyone remember the 'oat bran' days?
Many of these foods have been around forever, they just become popular because of some study or something ... or people attach a label to them ("organic" or "superfood" or whatever) ... and then a short time later, they lose popularity and something else comes along.
With the exception of manufactured things like almond milk (yummy!), most of these things have been around forever ... hummus, oatmeal, vegetables like kale and cauliflower, sushi, blueberries, etc. etc.
Even within the manufactured category, protein bars have been around since sometime in the 1990s, if not earlier. Because of the long distance cycling I do, and have done since the mid-1990s, I tried various bars - protein bars, power bars, cliff bars, etc. etc. to see if there was something that would work well to fuel me on the long rides. After several years of trying a wide variety of these things, I came to a conclusion. Good quality granola bars and oatmeal raisin cookies worked just as well and were a whole lot cheaper.
So give some of these things a try ... if you like them, great ... if you don't, move on.6 -

Absolutely!! This is something I try to do most of the time.2 -
Coconut water literally makes me gag. It is disgusting. And I've never actually had kale that I'm aware of ¯\_(ツ)_/¯0
-
Oh, I've never had acai anything either. I've never actually said the word out loud and am unsure how to pronounce outside of my head lol.0

Lmao I think it's a foreign company trying to translate into English and as for the picture it was supposed to show cream swirling into coffee, but someone dented the bag to make it look like a penis hahaha0 -

Actually, I wish I never googled it to show my friends, because it turns out it's an altered picture of a carton of buttermilk.1 -
Soaked chia seeds. BLEH. Looking at them is enough to make me nauseous.2

I agree with this. Weirdest trend ever IMO.2 -
All depends if I like it or not. I refuse to spiralise anything though - zoodles? squashetti? What?! Conversely, I'm quite liking the trend for anything salted caramel flavour - I love salted caramel ice-cream!4

thank you for this. i don't get how that makes it better.

I've never really understood the zoodles thing. I suppose it's promoted by the people selling spiralizers. Zucchini and spaghetti squash taste so similar and spaghetti squash is already noodle shaped. Why not just eat the spaghetti squash?6 -
I'm decidedly anti spiralizer, also. It's not fooling anyone.3

Soy milk and artificial sweeteners like Splenda. I do use Stevia occasionally, but I avoid things like Sucralose and Aspartame like the plague.1
-
Kale anything. One of my favorite restaurants in my town ruined the Caesar salad by putting kale in it now. It's like chewing on plastic.
Oh and Starbucks. I refuse to spend $5+ on a coffee or latte or whatever it is that they want to call it just because of the cute names.

It's not a food but... Coconut water1

Oh my, why have I never even considered this?! I've been programmed to make zoodles. LOL0
