    Lisa, congrats on the sale.

Becca, my suggestion may not work because I don't know everything, but sometimes you have to think outside the box. I guess my reasoning comes from how our family does Christmas and also how my ex SiL had us handle his first deployment. As you know, we live in southwestern Indiana and his training before his first deployment was outside Philadelphia. Everyone was making arrangements to fly home to Indiana, see everyone up and down the state and then fly back in 3 days. Dan asked that Michelle and I fly there. I was so pleased he wanted me. His Moms were all foster and I was that Mom for him. So Michelle and I flew there and had a great sight seeing time. I did allow them to have a lot of alone time although the hotel put my room next to theirs. Was so glad for good walls. Now to the other part of my thought. We have Christmas whenever we can. One year it was in February. So have Christmas and Thanksgiving together. Make it your own.

So sick and tired of the bruises I get with this medicine i have to take because of the stent. And to think that I have to take this until the end of August.

The dumpling marathon was fun! Pretty fall day in NYC, lots of people walking about, so many young families, it was fun to people watch. We only hit 3 different shops all within the East Village and Chinatown. yummy, we split every order, some were fried, some were boiled and all with chili oil! Ummm, was that good.

I only had yogurt for breakfast, worked out 55 minutes at the gym and don't want to eat dinner so I guess cico will work out for such a food centric experience---oops did I forget to mention the last stop at the donut shop??? Yeah there was that :s but tomorrow is happily another day

Here is some art work near the donut shop

Did 40 minutes of Floor Burn DVD. The plan for tomorrow is to do the Butt Bible DVD

Exercised, steamed asparagus (which was on sale), made pork chops for next week

I THINK we have most of the Halloween decorations packed away. Vince is putting some of the decorations away right now

Kim from NCal - I'm not a big meat eater, either. I usually have a small piece of meat and lots of veges. I love persimmons, especially if they are really ripe. Unfortunately, there weren't any at the farmer's market this year. Your thanksiving sounds wonderful! Another thing about Skinnytaste is that the food there has flavor. Many of the items that are low in calories are also low in flavor

Glo - one time we went to FL when the kids were little. My inlaws had been given a toy gun which was broken, but Bryan really played with it. Well, he took it home on his carry-on. You can guess what the airline did! They confiscated it, boxed it up. Then the shipment (of this broken toy bun) was sent to Atlanta by mistake. Then they had someone drive it to our house (this is when we were living in Stroudsburg, PA). All for a broken toy gun!

Rita - your son looks UNBELIEVABLE. So does everyone else. Love your dd's outfit

wendy - welcome! We're all here for you, lots of people for your accountability

Monique - welcome! What a success story you have there. I sure hope you make your goal. Keep coming in here, your journey sounds really interesting.

Jusnita - you go girl! Smaller sizes - fantastic!

    mamibimumbo - welcome!

Becca - I hear ya about kids spending money when they really should be saving it. Denise is that way a lot. Why she chose to spend $1200 on a birthday party for her boyfriend and yet she's talking about how she needs to cut back on expenses for her wedding is beside me.

Lisa - so glad the sale went so well

    Breanda - welcome!

Peach: Thanks to the link to sherv.net!

Joyce: Count your blessings. Your children are close enough that you see them regularly. I won't see either of mine again for months. I envy you.

Monique, Juanita in Central TX & Brenda in Virginia Beach: Welcome to a great group!

Mambimum: Your goals make sense. Good luck! Welcome to a great group. :flowerforyou:

Lisa: Congratulations on a successful sale.

Joyce: Thanks for your story about Christmas with your ex SIL back when he wasn't ex. It makes me feel good.

Gloria and others who have been so encouraging since I got home with the blues, thank you for your support. I'm beginning to feel a bit better. Today was a good day for both DH and me. He had lunch with high school classmates and I had a great riding lesson on a new horse. The horse & I got along well & I like his gaits. He is very smooth compared to the horse I have been riding although I've been told he can be a real pill. The horse I have been riding before this is sweet and very trustworthy. I'll miss him, but my teacher is right that I need to gain broader experience. Thanksgiving will be at DSIL's house so there will be loads of company. Christmas will be on our own. We'll figure it out, I hope.

Janetr: Happy birthday! Loving all the pics you're sharing

Heather: Congrats on the house...hope it all works out!

Welcome to everyone new. This is a great place for accountability and encouragement.

Monique: Could you share how to calculate the amount of protein and fat that you use?

Off to bed to rest my eyes again,

    Carey - Northern Alberta

    Goals for Nov:
    - Increase walking by at least 100 steps per day
    - Get to Tai Chi at least once a week

    Hello ladies!

Haven't had a chance to post the last few days, but have been reading all the posts today. Been super busy the last few days. Got word a few days ago that my spot in the RV park I have a reservation in is coming open next week so it looks like I will be moving Tuesday or Wednesday. The last 3 days have been spent moving a two bed house worth of stuff into a 32 ft motorhome. I decided to move into a motorhome as rent here in Portland is getting outrageous and I can't afford it anymore. An RV space is only half the rent I am paying now and I will get free electric, water, sewer and garbage. That is going to help out a lot. Maybe now I can splurge and get cable TV!

So the last 3 days have been busy taking my furniture and other items I can't keep to Goodwill. I'm amazed at how much crap I've gathered to me over the years! I hate to see some of it go, but I can't fit it all in there so I have to give it up. Today was the last day of moving into the motorhome, so now I am camped out in the driveway and ready to go in a few days.

I got a killer deal on the motorhome! I only paid $5,400 for it! It is a 1996 Georgie Boy Pursuit that blue books out to $13,000 to $15,000. It's in excellent condition and everything works! It's really nice on the inside and very comfortable for me and Missy, and I don't have to lose the queen sized bed. I will post some pics of it tomorrow, I don't really have time to tonight.

I kinda blew it on my diet the last few days because I've been so busy, I ate a little junk food/fast food. But now that everything is done I can go back to eating healthy whole foods. I'm really gonna miss my wonderful neighbors here. Bless their hearts, they all pitched in and helped me move the heavy stuff, I didn't have to touch any of it. I hope I have good neighbors in the park!

Monday I start PT around noon, then late afternoon I go to an intake appt at the mental health clinic I really want to go to for counseling, so it's gonna be a busy day!

I know I missed a couple of Birthdays, so Happy Birthday to those that had one! I hope you had a great one and had fun on your special day! To all the newbies, Welcome! To those that have been having difficulties my prayers are with you and yours. And to those that have been doing well on their eating and exercise, way to go!!! And to anybody I missed, "Wooot!"!

I hope everybody has a wonderful evening!

    Hello Ladies,

I had a very busy last couple of days!
After all the work than delays with everything finally had our housing inspection. We passed paperwork was completed the house had no problems . So now we are a certified family home. We are only doing this for our daughter. It will help us to be able to help her more.

Today was my first of many up coming Bazaars! I sell Thirtyone Gifts. I had signed up for these Bazaars before knowing about cancer and stuff. I was tired after doing it but really felt fine. It was nice to focus on something totally different ! Meant a lot of nice people!

The rest of the weekend is having a little R&R. My husband was such a support today! I know he wants to just watch football tomorrow! That is our goal! Going to put some chili in the slow cooker! Found a low carb recipe excited to try.

I hope everyone is having a nice weekend.

Kim - The "conservatory" is a horrible, nasty thing with a plastic roof. The back of the ground floor all has to come out, be extended and have walls knocked down to make a kitchen diner. The owner hasn't done much for 30 years. We liked the potential of the house, but the kitchen area nearly put us off. We will have to bite the bullet at some point, but we are going to move in, "as is". ;):*

lisa amazing good news and well deserved. Seems like the life you guys have been planning and dreaming about is starting to come into view- how exciting!

Liz so happy that you got so much help for the big downsize move and you are gonna be able to save so much on living expenses.

Enjoyed sleeping the extra hour for
    " Fall back"

Now gonna gather up a backyard full of leaves, enjoy some gym time and then prep for work. Yesterday I prepped my favorite soup for a week full of easy to go lunches! Feeling a little more in control ;)

    Good morning everyone.

The province of Saskatchewan doesn't change time. We stay on Central Standard Time all year round. Painful when all your medical appointments are in the border city of Lloydminster where they do change time. My phone changes when I get close to the city. Hopefully I don't show up at my kids house Late for babysitting!,

Today..... am heading out to do yard work.

    Have a great day everyone.

Liz: Your life currently seems very busy. It sounds like you enjoyed the Bazaar. I like that. :flowerforyou:

Heather: I wish you best luck with all of the things involved in moving to a different home in a different part of the country.

Lisa: Congratulations on your good news from the VA regarding healthcare. A friend of ours also has VA healthcare and is very satisfied with the situation. When they moved, they chose to live in a town with VA hospital. They seem very pleased with the situation. :flowerforyou:

Alison: I also enjoy Stephanie Plum novels, especially the earlier ones.

Lillian: Your comments about time change brought back old memories. When daylight time first came into the picture I lived in Salem, Oregon and my cousins all lived in Portland. One city embraced daylight time and the other did not. All of the little towns in between them decided to go half way. :noway:

I'm having a little trouble with "fall back." Here I am at the computer and it isn't e even 5 am yet. Traveling two time zones to visit DD didn't bother me a bit. So why is this?

I am going to try a different eating approach starting today. What I have been doing (counting calories) is not working as I know I am not a) being honest or b) impossible to come up with the right amount. So, I am going to try the low carb method. Will see how that works.

Janet ~ Looks like you saw some beautiful old homes in Savannah. I have only been there once and that was for a convention my DH had to go to. We didn't see much during the day.

Lisa ~ Excellent news all around! We are all so happy for you as you deserve to have things going your way.

To all the new people, a big WELCOME!

Katla - I don't really think of it as a different part of the country, though it is a different county. We are in Hampshire, the Southern/Southwestern borders and Brighton is South Eastern. It is in East Sussex. I was brought up in my teenage years in Horsham in West Sussex. Those counties are similar , but the difference is that Brighton/Hove is urban with a lot of transplanted Londoners. London is less than an hour away on the train.
I lived in London for 40 years, so I'm hoping I will feel right at home. My teenage home is just 20+ miles away. I used to visit Brighton every weekend on the very slow bus to see my boyfriend who worked in the theatre.

Lisa - Glad that your plans are coming together. :D Yes, we are nervous about the vendor's commitment to moving. She may just panic and throw in the towel. :#

Carol - I have found that calorie counting plus lower carbs works best for me. Protein keeps you fuller for longer and you can eat a lot of veggies for not many calories. I find most processed carbs a waste of calories. But I don't have a sweet tooth. I used to binge on carbs (rice, bread and butter) when I was depressed. I feel better staying away from them. :)

Just in the process of making an Allbran loaf for DH. I've had that packet of Allbran for ages. Nearly all gone now.

Did some of my MEMOIR this morning. I was shamed into it by DH. :* Hooray!

Will declutter the painting stuff I never use this pm. :D

Good morning all! Happy Sunday! Boy...the time change. I am usually very excited about the "fall back" time change and getting that extra hour to sleep. I did a no-no last night and was awake until 11:30 (later than normal) and still woke up at 5:30 am; which with the time change was actually 4:30! I spent the next couple of hours trying to sleep. I should have just got up and started my day. Now I have that awful sleep hangover. It has taken me three cups of coffee, but it feels like it is going away.
I was going to give the lawn one more mow (hopefully the last) today; but my BIL stopped by yesterday and offered to come with his riding mower and do it for me. I accepted that help. It will allow me more time to prep this weeks meals and work on DD's baby shower (in January). Her BFF and I, are designing invites and I need to go over DD's gift registries and make suggestions; like things that should be removed because she will NEVER use them or things that she didn't register for and that she may need. Because she is flying up from TX for the shower, this is going to be a big shower, encompassing all of the family/friends in the Michigan, Indiana, Illinois area. We are going with a Little Prince theme (as in Le Petit Prince), not royalty, as this is how the baby's room will be decorated. This is kind of exciting for me. When I had my DD, I had two baby showers (one thrown by co-workers the other family), but this was before you "registered" for anything. You got what you got. I also didn't have a "nursery/baby's room" as baby shared a room with her big brother (my stepson). Anyway, the shower is in January, so I am trying to do the smart thing and get all of the planning done before December. Thanksgiving is small at our house. Just DH, DYS, and myself, now that DD is married and celebrates that holiday with her MIL in TX. With my parents passed on, and DH's family gathers at their own inlaws...makes for a quiet, thankful day. I am thinking of inviting some older friends whose own kids don't make it home for the holidays. I think DH will be fine with that, as we met them through him and his love of all things Notre Dame.
I still have that awful cough! This is week four of the cough. My sinuses are clear, but the mucus-y cough is still hanging in there! Anyone have any good cough remedies? Not to suppress it, but to clear it out! I take Delsym and Cepecol at night to suppress so I can sleep. But need to clear the gunk from my chest. Ideas? What works for you?
Becca- I hear you on trying to get everyone home for the holidays! I come from a big and loud family. Getting used to less family and less activity during this time has been hard for me. Priorities! I have had to bite my tongue and it took me a while to understand that every one has a different list of priorities. Or maybe we have the same list, but everything is ranked differently. When I married DH, who is very anti social even when it comes to family events, we spent every holiday with his family (and I was dragging him there). If I suggested my family's get togethers, he would tell me he is not going. SO...being young, newly married, and not wanting to rock the boat, the kids and I didn't go either. My parents passed, and I had created such a HUGE void in my life and my DD's life (DYS wasn't born yet), because we missed so much family time. It has become easier to get together with both families, as both now celebrate Christmas either the week before or the week after Christmas. This leaves Christmas day for each family to celebrate as a singular family.
    Janet- love the Savannah pics!
NYKaren- I love getting food prep done! It is one less ball to juggle during the week!
Allie- Poor Homer! Sending hugs to you and your furbaby!
Lisa- Congrats on the sale, the future table refurbish, and the insurance! Yeah, that last one is a biggie!
Kate- Enjoy your holiday! Share pics if you can! Safe travels!
Sherry- Congrats on the new digs! Sounds like you got a great deal and this will make your monthly home bill much more affordable! Less stress is good! Don't sweat the fast food. WE all tend to go astray when our lives get busy. Sounds like you identified that problem and have taken control again! Yea, YOU!! B)
A big hello and how are you to the new girls and to all of you lovely ladies that I haven't touched on. Headache gone, and I better get busy with my to-do list! KJ (Kelly)
