So far I have lost 15 kg, (33 lbs) all by myself.

What was the time frame for the weight loss...?

It must be so hard, being so angry and a pessemistic.
    @diannethegeek .
Did I not say thank you? I did.
What you say is a reflection of yourself. :)

I'll keep you in my prayers.
May God remove the spirit of anger and pessemism from your life.

    Amen.

Have seen some recent information linking green tea extract to liver problems. I stopped taking it... at least until more information is available.

I take 2 green tea caps per day. I don't really like green tea but I believe that there are real benefits from it. I also read a few years ago in Men's Health or Muscle and Fitness (can't remember for sure) that there were very few supplements that work in pill form as well or better than getting it from the food/substance itself. Green tea supplements are actually better in pill form because in order to get all the benefits of the green tea when brewing it you have to get it at the perfect temperature, steep for the perfect amount of time and drink it immediately. Lots of variables whereas when a pill is made properly you can get all the benefits.

So if you love green tea, drink it and enjoy! But also, I believe taking the supplements are worth it. And if your combination of food, tea and supplements work for you to reach your goals, who cares what anyone else says! Do what works for you!

I have to weigh in with the skeptics here, but I wish you well.

I enjoy green tea especially the tea in Chinese and Japanese restaurants. I stopped drinking it a few years ago because some of the tea grown near the 2011 Fukushima power plant disaster tested positive for radiation and I don't know where my tea comes from.

LOL - a blog by an IT guy? Derek Ralston has no nutrition background. You think the Japanese might import radiation infected tea? :D

I googled the subject and pulled up hundreds/thousands of references. This was one of the first ones. There are plenty more if you don't like this one.

I'm good thank you. I trust the Japanese enough and also as the guy above you said - there are nutritional benefits to green tea and it certainly won't have a negative effect unless, like many things, you drink a shed load of it

And just like almost all supplements in the diet industry, the "benefits" have been over-hyped. If people get past blog post and look at things like google scholar and independent companies like examine, you will see this.

Well yeah I'd hope that was pretty obvious. The notion that one thing is the saviour is certainly not correct. Kale may be nutritious and certainly won't hurt your weightloss journey, but it ain't the only thing you should have. Instead of reading - I like to to try it myself mate

As well as the notion that one thing is the enemy...

I'm an honours student with majors in psychology and IT. I don't follow or do anything without doing extensive research about a topic. The need to research everything is well ingrained in to me.
At times it falls to my disadvantage ( the need to research, like when I'm in a relationship. Lol.)

Well, point I'm trying yo make is that, I did actually do extensive research on Google scholar and a few psychology databases. I'll try and link a few articles

But yes you are correct. People should not believe everything they read on blogs and forums.
