The host should have bought more cream puffs. I'm Italian and Jewish and it's in my blood to overdo food. But I find most people don't have enough. If you know you're going to have 40 guests, you buy (or make) enough for everyone plus extra. It's ridiculous to think people will only eat one cream puff ...

Haha. That sounds like one of my parties. I am bagging stuff up for everyone to take home cuz I over plan and don't want to eat that stuff for the next month.2 -
this is just funny to me but I am socially inept. i would have nonchalantly stood up and whispered carefully into their ear "make me a sandwich or the cream puffs die". their reaction to this request would also be a good litmus test for whether or not i would associate with them again.12

We can host parties but we make sure to have enough plastic spoons in the can of porknbeans. Geez, we know how to be classy even if we're poor, Mr. Fancypants.
But seriously, some people are so tacky they invite me to a party and they say - well, we bought pizzas and soda. And I stand there like what the fudge.... I don't eat that *kitten* at a party.
Well, I was going to invite you to my pizza party with @littlemissbgiff. Both of us ;ladies were going to be nood. And I was going to let you record the twister game. Damn.
I have been very nice today0 -

To fix wobbly tables or something?1 -
Where I come from when the buffet open it is like watching some David Attenborough stuff. Battling like demons for a carcass in the Serengeti. Rule of Dibs is always applicable.7

I don't think it's rude but I think that's tacky imo. If you're going to have a party then make sure you have everything you need & if you don't invite less people.1

Everybody get a cheeto!5

Personally I would have assumed they had more in the kitchen and would naturally replenish when the supply got low

When my mom invites this host over to our social parties, she gives them so many different pastry options. My mom literally force feeds people. At the end of the night, she gives away all of the left overs to party guests. But then to get invited to someone's party and being treated that way, it's really offensive.0 -

Ask him or her what kind of *kitten* *kitten* invites 40 people to a party with only 30 creme puffs? I *kitten* love creme puffs *kitten*. Maybe ask how much do you enjoy creme puffs on your next party invitation!2 -

You counted them?
We're on a calorie counting site, of course I did.2 -

30 cream puffs for 40 guests. Classy.
This host reminds me of the gal who took a friend of mine in as a student traveler. Three teens and two adults sat for dinner. The hostess served 4 sausages as the main course.
You should have rescinded the gift immediately, walked out of the party right then and never spoken to the host ever again.
Never inviting them over and never going to their house again.0 -

I freaken love cream puffs. It's always been a favorite.1 -
No. Especially if I were eating like 4 cream puffs. If it is a party, the polite thing to do would be to take 1 or 22

maybe if you bring cream puffs
Look this pizza party is going down no matter who shows up
I'm on my way with crisco for the twister, bottles of wine and brownies. We know how to throw a party, damn it!0 -
When I was morbidly obese, if the host was thin and healthy and had said that to me, I'd have been offended and I would not have accepted another invitation from that person. It never happened to me, though.1

I would show so many cat pictures to the host.0

I typically hover by the booze at a party not really the food.2
