Haven't updated in a while because training has been rather "boring." But then I was thinking, "hey, I'm still squatting, benching, and deadlifting so I belong in that thread still!!" So here's a few working sets from the past two days. Oh, and I just recently hired a coach. I've been powerlifting competitively for only a year now, and feel like I made quite a bit of improvement, but I'm stoked to have somebody programming for me and helping me for my next meet in March. Team Joey Flexx checking in.

I started peaking for a meet January 28th. First two workouts are in.
I've also designed the shirts (and medals) once again this year.
Deadlifts tomorrow.10 -
245x10 deads yesterday for my 5+ day of 5/3/1.
I guess this is technically a rep PR as I've never attempted to rep this much before. (Because why would I do 10 reps of deads??) If I had chalk or a decent bar I probably could have eeked out a few more if I reeeally tried. Awesome to see my grip doing this well though, as I could barely hold 265x1 on these bars a few months ago. 12.5 weeks out!!8 -

Thanks- Feeling pretty good- not quite as good as I WISH I was feeling- I'm headed into week 3 at this point- and I wish I felt a little stronger- I think I need more carbs before I head in- but I'll be happy if they look this good over 185. Actually I'll be happy if I can 20 rep anything over 200. LOL- that will be a big bleeping win.2

Here's my 5/3/1 for today. I'm doing it modified so I do the full 5/3/1 cycle for squats every week and then my other lifts are on the regular 3 weeks schedule. The deload day helps to vary what day I'm doing my heaviest squats so it doesn't always correspond with my DL day.
Today was 1+ squats, 5+ DL, and trying to work my way up to 20 straight BW pull-ups. Pull-ups will be easier if I can lose some of this extra poundage but then my other lifts will get harder...

Here are my first 4 deadlift singles today at 545 lbs. Bar speed slowed down a bit, but they all felt much better than my 565 lb PR 2 weeks ago.

Too good not to share! This guy goes from curling in the squat rack next to me to unsolicited spotting of me in the safety rack.
i love the way your 9th rep picked up speed once it was really clear you had an alien in your air space . those gloves were so great though. i mean, how could you object to a stranger potentially touching you if they're wearing gloves?
unrelated: set really looked great. i think in the last couple of 20-rep clips you were a little looser and nowhere near as dialed in as this looked.

420, 445, 475 doubles, single 495. Felt good to pull five plates again. Peak is on track.
Wouldn't you know it, laying in bed sick now. Arg. At least I can get the first cold of the year out of the way weeks before the meet.

Squats this afternoon with poverty video quality. Wolfpack theme song because I'm decked out in plenty of red and black.

Haha... those weren't actually gloves either. He had wrist wraps on and then was hold "fat grips" that he was using while curling the bar.
Being dialed in and tight might have something to do with the belt too. I was doing the 20 rep program without it.1 -

@nakedraygun I'm joining you the sick meet prep club unfortunately.
I've got plenty of time, but it sucks being so fired up about my first week of new programming and feeling like poo!1 -
Death by volume is over! I don't have to see high rep work on my main lifts until November, and I'm stoked! Okay, there might be a mini cycle of high rep work in July but I'll take it. Anyways, deadlifts from Thursday. Last of five sets of 8 at 120/264. Pretty clear this isn't 70% anymore.

I'm actually feeling much better today, currently drinking beer watching the Packer game. Hopefully I'll train on Tuesday.

Yes! I haven't Squat 405 lbs since June and I was injured and it made me regret being born -- although I did walk off the platform on a PR on my second attempt that day.
And without pain! Three weeks out -- so want to do this meet already!8 -
Finally making over head progress!
Push press/push jerk complex at 45kg.

So a few things for me this week. First I went and had a bodpod reading done for the second time. I had the first done about 9 months ago. I've gone through a few bulk cycles while doing the 20 rep squats in that time as well as some cuts and maintenance. All in all it was maybe 12-16 weeks of bulking. I know there's margin of error and everything, but at least it showed me moving in the right direction hopefully. Shows an increase in fat free weight of 4.3 lbs
Also, today's workout. Down 2-4 lbs (mostly water) since new years and I can already tell the difference in my lifts. 275 squat was good for the first few reps, but then got heavy really quick. OHP was decent actually. My rep goal was 9 at 130lbs and I got 8 which still puts my 1RM at 165. I also super-setted my pull-ups in between sets of OHP.

No video, but the flights with all the openers are already posted for my first meet on Sunday and now I'm starting to get really nervous! And not lifting the next 3 days is only going to make it worse. I'm in the 3rd(last) flight, benching 7th and deadlifting 15th.

Freaking exciting! I wish I could find a PL meet somewhere close to me. I totally want to do one.2 -

It's so hard to find close ones! The closest to me are at least two hours. My meet has weigh ins the day before, so I'll probably get a hotel rather than drive back and forth just for that. Oh well, mini vacation I guess!0 -

What state (if you're comfortable telling)?
I wish USAPL had 24hr weigh-ins. I have to travel to Mississippi or (almost) Georgia to compete and I live in Alabama. However, the state just sanctioned a meet about 50 minutes from me. I'm stoked.1 -
