Easy Mac Diet

I retained water just thinking about all that sodium.
One Oscar Mayer Selects turkey hot dog has 480mg of sodium, and 1 "cup" of Easy Mac has 670mg. That's 1,150mg... twice a day and you're at your sodium max for the day. I go over 2,000mg and you could tie a string to me and put me in the Macy's Day Parade.
Yeah I have no idea. I eat more sodium than that daily for sure.
Oh hai! Your profile pic gave you away since I've totally seen that on IG.0 -

Or you just know my *kitten* like the back of your hands. I want my old friends back on here. I'll make a post on IG. But my starting weight is screwed up. Do you know how to fix it?

I'm not sure if I should be proud of that first sentence or slightly ashamed (but not too much).1 -

I don't know about from the app, but you should be able to edit from the website. >My Home >Check in >Edit previous entries (at the bottom of the table, just above save changes. That should take you there.
As for the OP, sounds nutritionally void (depending on what else you are consuming), and may lead to difficulties with maintenance. Possible health complications for long-term, but who knows. Have you looked at your micro targets (vitamins and minerals, to see if you are hitting those as well? I have eaten them a couple times. They aren't the worst thing I've put in my mouth while trying to lose weight.1 -

When I left home at 16 with my dog in tow, I had *very* little money to feed either of us on.
Kraft Dinner was on sale for 17 cents a box. (This was in in late '60's!) So I gathered every dime I could and bought a freaking case of it. 48 boxes.
Figured that my dog and I could split a box of it between us for dinner every night and at least neither of us would starve to death.
Problem was, I couldn't afford the milk or the butter that you're supposed to use to make the powdered cheese sauce decent. So I just boiled the noodles and added water to the powder to make the sauce. It was pretty gross, but it's all we had.
After about two weeks of having this as our only meal of the day, I made up the usual batch, and put half of it into my dog's dish. She walked over to it, sniffed it, and then looked up at me with a look that clearly said, "I just can't do this." When my freaking dog turned it down, I knew we were in trouble! LOL
To this day - almost fifty years later - just the smell of Kraft dinner makes me gag.
Swap dog for cat and Kraft Dinner for tuna noodle casserole and you have 2 years of me being at uni!4 -

OP, this is probably not the healthiest plan, but at least make sure you are getting lots of protein and fiber in your third meal.
I eat far more "convenience" food than I'm sure some of the posters in this thread would tolerate, but I think I'd get bored pretty quick eating the exact same thing twice a day, every day.
FYI, you can buy some pretty cheap bags of frozen mixed veggies, microwave a serving while you are stirring up your mac & cheese, and then combine the veggies with your Easy Mac. A great way to use up the extra cheese sauce and would add a little fiber and nutrition :drinker:11 -
Dinner tonight serving of easy Mac and a cup of tomato basil soup. Will definitely get in a bedtime meal with some pb toast and a protein shake. Can't post pic on the forum?1

The overwhelming question still has not been answered. Why Easy Mac specifically?7

The overwhelming question still has not been answered. Why Easy Mac specifically?
Mainly because it is cheap and easy. Easy meal prep for lunch at work all I need is access to water and a microwave. Plus it has a catchy name - the Easy Mac Diet.
I'm doing the contra of what many do at the beginning of a new year. I'm not getting on a plan that I can't stick to. This diet is eat what I want to eat when I want to eat it, but having the easy Mac as the one item that is in my consumption every day - and staying within my daily calorie target.
I'm working on calories out > calories in without being overly concerned about the macros. Adding in cardio 4 days a week.
One thing I am trying to limit is my beer intake. That alone is the biggest contributor to the weight I've packed on. I had a 16oz beer yesterday, 4 or 5 less than I normally would have.3 -
So why don't you just say "I'm trying to drink less" and not attempt to assign a "catchy name" to an eating habit that is not a whole hell of a lot better..? It's one thing to not worry about macro and focus on caloric intake, and another to trot out a factitious "diet" to attempt to validate yourself. I hate to break it to you, it's not at all catchy.
It is however great that you're drinking less, and I'm pretty sure the 300-400 calories from beer you're no longer consuming has far more to do with how you feel and any weight loss... not the Easy Mac.4 -
Trot out a factitious diet? Why don't you open your eyes to the diet and fitness business in general. It is a billion dollar industry preying on people (many here) into thinking a 25 day program or vegan or this or that is going to magically change somebody's appearance or overall self esteem. Do me a favor and block my posts. I had no idea you were the diet and fitness guru that knows exactly what will and won't work for somebody. I also appreciate the welcome and support to this area of the app called "community"5

Well, since I don't pay anyone for my weight loss - I weigh and log my food, while eating what I want - I don't think I personally need to open my eyes to anything. No magic pills or shakes or anything of that nature here. I don't even tend to fall down the rabbit holes that are the fad diets - low fat, keto, gluten free ... whatever the flavor of the day is. Not my style.
And yes, you are trotting out a made up diet. You seem to be so vehemently against diets that "magically change somebody's appearance or overall self esteem" and yet here you are singing the praises of Easy Mac and giving it a catchy little name. Which makes you no better than those who prey on people, who you openly admit are likely on this very site. And to that end you wouldn't be wrong, and I'm willing to bet some lurking teen is now eating ONLY two Easy Mac's per day in hopes that they too will feel "feel great". Knowing that, I sincerely hope you're just trolling the hell out of us all before someone takes your "diet" as gospel.

Sorry, but with all the great information on this site, if anyone takes this diet as gospel, it is truly on them. Many on here preach how you can lose weight eating anything, as long as you are in a deficit. It sounds like this is what OP is doing. Weird....Yep. Would I do it.... no. Harmful.....I don't personally think so.
For the record, I am an "all things in moderation" person.7 -
I dunno. I used to call myself the Jared of McChickens (until that whole scandal situation). I took this thread as a light-hearted jab at the preachiness of the diet and fitness industry.7

Btw: +1 Awesome for adding hot dogs to the easy mac.2

I agree. Considering how the most common theme here is that you can eat whatever you want and lose weight, I just take this as someone showing how they personally are doing it. How can we have popular threads dedicated to Oreos or ice cream but get all weird over Easy Mac? Lots of people come up with catchy names for the way they eat. And lots of people like instant Mac & cheese. <shrug>15 -
It must be an American thing to create such a big thing about this , Easy Mac thing, if the guy likes that then let him, some of us track macros and some don't, some prefer other sort of foods, as long as we have at least minimum nutrition I think each person should approach their path as they see fit?2

No...it's not an American thing. I don't know what country you are from but I would bet my life that you are from a country that also is opinionated and judgmental.
If the guy likes Easy Mac and wants to call it his Easy Mac Diet...this American could care less.11 -
At least cut up some hotdogs in it for protein.
No one remembers the Kids in the Hall ode to living on boxed Mac & Cheese (and ketchup, of course)?

May as well chew on plastic...less calories (so long as you don't swallow it. That, I would not advise.)0

This American thinks it's definitely not an American thing to give someone a hard time about mac and cheese.6 -
Well, I'm glad to see there's more to what you're eating than I first thought. I particularly like the tomato soup rounding out the meal, but I'd like to see you eating more protein because it's pretty important, and I'm glad you got that protein shake in before bed.3

Your plan reminds me of a time long ago when my daughter was a toddler...she and I...well we were very poor. In order to make sure she got fed every week I would buy the Kraft Mac & Cheese...5 boxes for $1.00. I would also get hotdogs(or bologna)...buy 1 get one free and a bag of buns for $.50. Some nights we would have mac & cheese with a hotdog on the side...other nights (if we were out of buns) I would cut them up add them to the dish.
Ya know...looking back...I was at the thinnest I have ever been. Matter of fact...people told me I was too thin at the time. I was definitely not eating enough...but my daughter got fed.
I have never tried the Easy Mac...too much sodium for this old body of mine.
Do whatever works for you...that's what I say.6 -
Easy Mac diet.. come on man. What was proper nutrition?1
-
Ah yes, my college days.
Are you tracking calories at all? I'm genuinely curious how this plays out. I can't judge, I get a significant amount of calories from Laffy Taffy so...2 -

Whoa, don't be offended yet, I just saw fit to say that, meant no offense, but I don't think countries are judgemental, people are, in any case Americans seem way more relaxed about food than others.
Good day and chill.

Well I guess it sounds better than the cabbage soup one but why not find a variety of low cal meals instead
Nooo cabbage soup is so good. lol. I had a veggie soup that was like 45 calories a cup with cabbage in it and I added hot sauce and I seriously lived on it for over a week. So good!1 -

You are an evil being!! All of those are delicious - especially Hamburger Helper. Although, I do not eat kraft anything... but I eat Annie's microwaved mac and cheese and it's delicious.2
