@shanaber that sounds scary. Listen to your body is always good advice. Good luck tomorrow.

@MNLittleFinn Congrats on your distance PR and no pain.

Thanks! I was looking at my training plan, and it looks like from here out, 1/3-1/2 of my long runs until my marathon, will be distance PR's....crazy, but I'm looking forward to it.

@RespectTheKitty nice run! and, Of course it will stay warmer, isn't that the purpose of buying cold weather gear, to ward off the cold weather? :D

All you people with your Christmas trees still up - are you telling me that bad things WON'T happen if you leave the stuff up beyond Twelfth Night?
I've never bought a tree, but I know that in my parents village the date for the collection of the christmas trees is usually the 12th January - missing that and having to keep the tree until March when the local composting facility opens their gates again would be a bad thing. Also, I imagine it goes dry and brittle and loses all its needles in the living room. Also a bad thing. So leaving it up until now sounds doubly risky to me ;-)

Not if it's an artificial one like mine is ;-)

@garygse Congrats on your 15K!! That whole mixup with the corrals would be annoying, but you still got a great time!! Way to go!

@lporter229 Congrats on your 1st 10K!! Great time too and 2nd in your AG is fantastic! I've had some races show up short and others show up long. I think the longer big races seem more likely to go long due to all the weaving that had to be done.

@NikolaosKey Sorry about the muscle strain and not being able to do your race tomorrow!! Hope you feel better soon!!

@OSUbuckeye906 Glad you're now cleared for the elliptical. I used it a lot to keep up my fitness during my hamstring injury.

@shanaber Sorry to hear about your heart issue. Hope it clears up soon!!

    @ROBOTFOOD Enjoy your new shoes!

Hell of a choice for a first marathon! Bada$$

@ROBOTFOOD I misjudged. Understatement. I'll be more prepared for that one, next time.

The next destination race is Mayor's Midnight Sun Marathon in Anchorage, AK. I hope to run in 50's weather for that one.

BSB is a nice tech course. I'd recommend Beginner's Luck on April 8th. Distances: 5mi - 55k. Not too tech. Well marked. Last year there was thunderstorms. Had a nice cool run. Alaska sounds amazing! I love it there. Very good chance for 40-50s I'd say.

@MobyCarp great race reporting. What kid of person does that? The same kind of that says Boston's time requirement for their AG is generous. You are a great and dedicated runner!

Well done on your 10k @lporter229 Chip time 44:56. 2/33AG, 10/353F are all so great! What does 2/537 OA mean?

@shanaber I'm a worrier so I'd be like you and scared, even though your doctor didn't say anything was actually wrong. Hang in there!

@garygse 32nd out of 220 in your age group is brilliant! Well done.

    05 Feb – 13.3 km hilly run

@Orphia- My bad. That should have been 32/537 OA (over all).

@MNLittleFinn-Congrats on the distance PR! I remember the first 14 and knowing that they would only get longer from there. That's when it starts to feel real!

@MobyCarp- Wow...sounds like quite the crazy adventure. Amazing what we will do for a run! Great race, BTW! I know that feels like a slow pace for you, but given the conditions, amazing job!

@shanaber , hmmmmm I think you need to be very careful tomorrow in the race and just focus on finishing but not setting any PR's. I'm a little worried about it to be honest so I hope you check in with us after the race and let us know how you did.

@everyone else, sounds like you've all had a killer weekend so far! You guys all impress me so much and I'm so envious of your miles and your speed but alas, it doesn't seem to be in the cards for me.

I haven't set up a ticker yet because even though my heart and soul are in the right place my body still isn't cooperating. My knee has hurt all week and so today, which should have been a running day, ended up being a walking day.........oh well, I said I wasn't going to cry about it and I'm not!

Got 3 miles in with a couple of pretty steep hills so I might as well just be happy about it!

Have a great run or race tomorrow all of you........I'm working legs at the gym so I'll stay strong anyway!

@mobycarp great race report and super job on the championship. Cracked at up at "your what kind of person" question. I assumed that was rhetorical ha ha

@lporter229 thanks! I ran a 14 mile last July but, somehow asking that extra tenth of a mile and knowing it's just getting longer made this one seems more significant

I guess I should've specified my trees are always ARTIFICIAL :D Got all that done today, through a lot of back pain. So hopefully I'll feel good to run tomorrow.

@shanaber That sounds so mysterious about your heart :( I hope they figure it out. Be careful <3

Date Distance Total To Goal (55)
    2/1 3.0 Mi 3.0 52.0 Mi
    2/2. Yoga
    2/3. Rest
    2/4. 5.0 Mi. 8.0. 47.0 Mi

First 5 miler since I got sick and it was a balmy 4 degrees out. Took forever to warm up and the ground was rock hard the whole time but it felt good. I am stiff and sore tight now but being in a cold hockey arena doesn't help. Tomorrow should be a 3 Mi but I am considering switching it with Monday and doing cross training and stretching instead.

Since I need to pull out my spare/new shoes as mine are almost dead, I ran up to Olympia Sports to see what they had. I picked up a pair of Asics GT 3000 and a pair of Asics GT 2000 and a new phone arm band. Because I got 2 pairs they were 25% off, can't beat it. They have a limited selection sometimes but I can't beat the deals when they have what I want.

March 11- St Malachi 5 miler (partial course preview for Cleveland Half)
    May 20 - Cleveland Marathon 8K (Maybe)
May 21 - Cleveland Marathon Half
June 10 - Run and Ride Cedar Point 5k
June 11 - Run and Ride Cedar Point Half Marathon (Back up Plan) or Quarter Marathon

@MNLittleFinn congrats on the PR, and the no-pain bonus!! We still have our (fake) tree up too. We hope to get it down tomorrow, but running comes first, naturally.
@katharmonic great run! I love seeing fresh snow. Glad to hear Stella is on the mend.
@NikolaosKey sorry you're going to miss your race.
@lporter229 congrats on an awesome race! I would sweat the short distance on your GPS. It's very tough for those satellite signals to get in a tunnel so that's just the way it goes. Too bad Strava doesn't let you adjust your distance like Garmin Connect will.
@shanaber sorry to about the Dr's visit. It must be frustrating to have them say it's "not normal" but not doing anything about it.
@ROBOTFOOD I *love* Cinnamon Toast Crunch! It's never moved me to sign up for another race though.
@garygse great race! Not a lot of people ahead of you.
@Ohhim that's hilarious that you practiced your jokes...on a treadmill! Nice pace job.
@MobyCarp that's pretty cool that your finish was key to a team championship! Very nice job! Driving on icy roads in the mountains worthy of being scared. I consider myself an experienced, very capable Minnesota winter driver but I damn near had to change my shorts last winter when I made the stupid decision to drive down Mt. Hood in Oregon when the night before we had freezing rain on the way up, changing to ice then snow overnight. Most scary driving incidents are over in a split second. This one lasted nearly an hour.

    02/04 18.3 Mi

I slept in, had a nice breakfast, did dishes, and finally made it out to the trail at 1:30. My goal was 20 but the second loop ended at 18.3 and I was too tired, and too sore to go any further. Also the sun was starting to set. I had enough light for a short out & back to get another 1.7, but I used that as an excuse to quit anyway. Sore hips, sore hamstring, and a dull ache in both Achilles. It all surprised me as I figured two days off plus sleeping in would have made for a good run. No matter, I'll tack on the other 1.7 miles to tomorrows run.

I'm finding myself completely uninterested in the football game tomorrow. Maybe I'll clean the garage instead.

Thanks all for your kind words of condolence- you are such a lovely group <3 . Ran a 22km, wanted to shoot for 30 but treadmill plus raging cold equals a suboptimal time on a 22 lol.

    February 2- 11km
    February 3- 11.1km
    February 4- 22km

@Ohhim I love pacers like you - they really keep me going.

I had an unscheduled rest day yesterday so am increasing the miles today. Struggling to find my rhythm with running but I hope that by pushing through I will get there
