Kelly, I'm so sorry for your loss. Siblings are the ones who are with us all our lives, supposedly, unlike everyone else in it, and it's a tough loss, no matter what.
Kim - hope all's well with your family. Hang on to your space, please don't let them treat you badly. Thinking about you.
Rori - feel better soon!
First sip of first cup of coffee, and then second long day of three. Yesterday was 15 hours from first writing to getting home from writer's group meeting, but everything went pretty well, all things considered.
Love y'all... off to gird my loins. Or something.

Good morning all. I am new here and thought I'd say hello. I am happy to find a thread with over 50 women. We have our own unique issues don't we.

Good morning all! Happy Tuesday! I had the kids picked up a little early yesterday (5pm) and had my little cry. Thank you all for the warm sentiments, hugs, vibes, and prayers. They are all appreciated and felt by me. For those of you that are new, sister was diagnosed with a grade four glioblastoma brain tumor at Thanksgiving of 2015. Due to the size and type, the doctors gave her only 6-12 months. She made it 15 months! She was a prickly pear as an adult, and because we weren't especially close in the end (she was pushing everyone away), I had forgotten many of our childhood adventures. She was a year behind me in school, which meant, we competed over EVERYTHING! But we also did a lot together. The mall, concerts, sneaking out at night and sneaking into the back of the drive-in behind our house (yes, we used dad's cutters and cut a hole in the fence), swimming at the gravel pits, plus all of the time we spent together before we started school. We shared a bed for a time, we each had a "blankie", I used mine as a soother and would rub the silkie on my cheeks to go to sleep, she would shove nearly her whole blankie in her mouth and go to sleep sucking and chewing away. We shared a room forever! She was the neat one and I was the messy one. At one time, as teens, she took masking tape and taped a line down the middle of the room and told me to "keep your s**t on your side!" LOL! Anyway, she is out of pain. Perhaps for the first time in her life. I am glad for that; but even though we didn't spend a lot of time together as adults, her death leaves a hole.
Marni- I have my little ones to dance with (thank god), because I am also married to a non-dancer. I went dancing every week-end as a teen/twentysomething, so that fact that I married a man who told me "I will only dance if there is a strobe light and I have drank two six packs!", is truly mind-boggling! And mine doesn't even cook! The heart wants what it wants, I guess.
Sherry- The wine cat! LOL! I know people like that. Poor kitty! And the selfie dog! That would be me, except I have not mastered the art of selfies, so every picture looks like the mug shot!
A picture of me, my sister Denise, (both of us about 3 1/2), and brother Kevin on the sand dunes at Sleeping Bear Dunes National Park.9 -

Greetings lovely ladies!
So yesterday I had a sofa day (like a duvet day, but the dog gets to sit on my lap too!) I have MS (multiple sclerosis) and although I am blessed with not having too many or too severe relapses, I sometimes suffer from chronic fatigue which appears without warning and totally wipes me out!
Luckily my DH and I both work from home (albeit in opposite parts of the house!) so I am always in the right place!
I spent a little bit of my time trying to get up to speed with my Dutch language lessons, I am really bad at this language. This is despite my baby sister having lived there for more than 20 years (she's fluent) and two gorgeous nephews and a beautiful niece who are wonderfully bi-lingual. Plus I visit the Netherlands a couple of times each year - most of them speak wonderful English, almost effortlessly!
I can do French well enough, and can get by with Spanish, but I find Dutch really hard. I can't help think that some words have an excessive number of syllables! Do you find the same with German, Heather?.
But next year we plan to spend a couple of months in the Netherlands, so I am going to try harder.
Woke up with renewed vigour this morning, so I did my workout and then photographed some of my most recent cufflinks before settling down to some report-writing.
Just thought I'd pop by before lunch - I'm making soup.
Have a great day, all!

Yinka Please post a picture of your cufflinks!
Sue in WA So what do I use Chia gel for? I guess I could look it up...
SueBDew It might not help, but I LOVE my raw veggies & dip and would rather have them than chips or crackers or cookies for "the munchies". Having them in a quart bag, ready to go each morning saves me from having to wash and prepare them mid-afternoon when it would be easier to reach for something less healthy.
Rori Feel better soon!
Marni Way to go, winning the football pool! Yes!
Kim Sounds like a catering success! Hope the serious talk goes well and that your family is OK.
Re I had to laugh about the lady swimming on her back reading a book. Now that's multi-tasking at it's finest!
DJ When you dance, is it the Carolina Shag? That's my favorite way of dancing...love, love, love Shaggin' on the Strand...
Newbies It's so exciting to have new people joining the group! Welcome, all!
Kelly I am so glad for your sister that she is freed from a painful existence. A blessed release. And I am so sad for you that you lost a sister who was once a wonderful companion. It sounds as if we had somewhat parallel "sister experiences". Mine was the neat freak who drew the line down the middle of the room. I was the messy one. She took her own life after years of a terribly painful existence. Her death was a sad relief. She was a really remarkable person before she got sick, as I am certain your sister was. (((Hugs)))

Went looking at RVs yesterday. Very interested in a 30 foot motor home that is a 2006 in good shape and only $30k! DH wants to go back and check engine, etc. looks like our move to full time wheeling is getting closer. DS is homeless again 'evil GF' kicked him out and threatened to call cops if he went back.
DH wants to look at more RVs tomorrow. He just said. Fun! I love looking at these!
Stats:

Steps Apple Watch 9251. FitBit 9208 steps

Kelly I lost my older sister to breast cancer eleven years ago this week. She was nine years older than me. She died at age 59. I am now 61. Seeing what she went through effects me to this day. She is part of what got me so interested in health. She said tomorrow she was going to start working on her health and her stress. She ran out of tomorrows because she did not take care of herself today. She did not leave this world peacefully. I mentioned this before that about six months after her passing I had a dream of her sitting and peacefully viewing a lush forest. She finally accepted what happened to her.
She left a big hole in many people's lives including mine.
I think that is why I have the attitude that is if I am not taking care of myself I am being selfish. Running around and taking care of everyone else denies them the chance to take responsibility for themselves and gives me an excuse for denying my own needs. My sister was guilty of this.
That being said there are times when I will be a caregiver. When my DH has this upcoming surgery I will help him the best I can. I am doing the best I can to get myself as strong as I can for this and will take the best care I can of me during this time.
