Just broke through the 180 lb mark on my way to 160ish after completing 90 days of P90X Classic. Started out at 204lbs in Nov2016. Breaking the 180lb mark has always been tough for me in the past.
For Friday, Saturday and Sunday I did Intervals Plus (P90X +), Yoga 1.5 h, and Yoga X (1.5 h).
Taking a week to recover (cardio, core and stretching) before starting another 90 day program - Hybrid P90X Plus, subbing Spin Class and Billy Blanks Tae Bo II for some of the KenpoX and Cardio workouts.
P. S. Just turned 55 in Feb.5 -

Hi cool kids, back after a long hiatus. Hit a number on the scale not seen since pregnancy so starting all over again. It's been a long road of supporting others on their trials and being miserable in some of my own stuff. Taking a fun vacation in April so doubling down while the motivation exists.4

Been averaging 2 mile walks everyday for the past week I walk my 2 miles usually around28 mins 14min miles. My weight loss isn't coming off as fast as I thought but not so bad because when I'm done I still feel good. I guess at 42 every little bit counts8

Happy Monday kids, I took a hike yesterday and decided to join a group. I get bored easily and this is more thing to add to my bag of tricks. I can't believe we are in day 2 of 70 degrees. It is quite weird to see convertible tops down and motorcycles revving in February. I really want to lose 15 pounds, but I am maintaining and perhaps I should really stop looking at the scale and be happy that I am getting stronger and accomplishing physical things that I could not 20 years ago. I am encouraged when I read all of your posts. Have a great day everyone.3

I log in everyday and have an open journal so feel free to add me. I don't post here daily, but love checking in to see everyone's progress and what's working for others in my age group.
I'm still lifting my weights and getting in my cardio. Love it! Results are addictive and I'm loving the changes I'm making!5 -

Hello 40+ Club!!! This is the first post of the new thread!!! Hope you like the title!!! Thank Chris (whoheis) or complain if you dont like it. LOL
For those who would like to join: We are a group of 40+ (40 yrs and older) peope who like to stay healthy by eating clean, exercising, etc. We support each other by providing health info, giving each other ideas on how to be healthy as we get older. Feel free to join the conversation. We usually report our weightloss/ weight gain, inches lost, struggles, goals, etc on Fridays.
What are your fitness/health goals for this year??? For me, I have started a new lifting program, New Rules of Lifting for Women. I am on my second week. My goal is to become stronger, lose fat, get leaner. I overdid it (not surprising to me) during the Holidays so I have to lose a few pounds and inches...I also want to focus on my nutrition, especially increasing my protein consumption. I am a Zumba Instructor and will of course continue with teaching my 4 classes a week.
Have a great day!!!!! :flowerforyou:
Hello to all MFP users!
I'm a 54 year old man who has had some tremendous health problems from years of abuse due to poor diet and an overall destructive lifestyle which included terrible nutrition and a sedentary lifestyle. Two and a half years ago , I was on 9 different medications with multiple health issues including depression and type 2 diabetes and I weighed 402 POUNDS at 5 foot 7. Within the past two and a half years I have managed to turn my life around and now, I am in better shape than I was in my 20s weighing in at 196 lbs.
Currently, I am on no medications and was able to successfully reversed my type 2 diabetes which I was on the threshold of at my last doctor's appointment weighing 402 pounds.
Currently my resting pulse rate is 52, A1C is 5.1, and cholesterol and blood pressure readings are perfect! Through a combination of good quality clean eating , and a wide variety of cardio exercise as well as weight training , I have found the key to a better lifestyle with no gimmicks, diets, or pay programs etc. I truly believe that the use of the My Fitness Pal app is the single most important tool in my arsenal because of all the quality information available, and I like the "accountability" which I derive from it. What I have achieved is the hardest thing I have ever done in my life, but adapting to this type of Lifestyle is extremely rewarding, satisfying, and pays off better than anything a person could do for themselves especially at the age of over 50. I am a firm believer that an active healthy lifestyle combining consistency with exercise, and healthy food choices with the addition of food logging through MFP is a recipe for success. For long term results, these habits need to turn into a way of life.. Never say DIET.. It needs to be a healthy way of life with knowledge being the key to healthy choices. The first 2 fat pictures showed me at only around 335 lbs and I maxed out later at 402. One final thought... don't make too many lofty or aggressive goals at first because you might just set yourself up for failure so take it slow and gradually ease into your new lifestyle. For instance, I used to get out of breath just going to the refrigerator so I started walking around the block slowly. Each week I tried to go a little further until I was able to walk a mile or two and then I gradually started to jog a little bit. So the lesson learned here is to take it slow and have a plan but don't try to do too much at one time or you'll set yourself up for frustration and possible failure. I hope my success will help to motivate some other people who are in the same situation I was more than two-and-a-half years ago. Remember, the human body is amazing and it is possible even at the ripe old age of 54 to turn things around and allow yourself to heal naturally by just taking care of your health, gaining knowledge and making the right choices. I always remember one thing a friend of mine who used to be very heavy told me and I quote "nothing tastes as good as being thin and healthy feels"
Happy New Year to everyone and let's make 2017 the best and fit year of Our Lives. If anyone would like to contact me for specifics on what I have done or just need a little bit of inspiration , I would be more than happy to share some of my success tactics and secrets which aren't really secrets at all. I would love to participate in the over 40 discussions!
Chris

Hey cool kids. Well, we had a nice long weekend, but I didn't do too much. Finally got out for a nice snowshoe yesterday. The weather was mild, and the scenery, amazing!
Here a a few photos of the day"

@larrodarro - I think it is just the soil / mineral from the rock that it melts off of. There were some pretty spectacular rock faces on this hike. I had about 50 pictures, but didn't want to post them all. LOL.2

Count me in.1

wow, sdereski!! Amazing photos!!
I want to do more snowshoeing...but, want to also recognize that I have to pee-pee all the time, so don't want to have to fret with "long treks". One day, I will hopefully find that perfect 3km trail and just do it all winter long!!2 -
@staffordshire62 - Wow, great transformation story...and nice bass! Welcome.
@sdereski - excellent photos as usual. You do your snowshoeing in a beautiful setting!
I dealt with a painful hamstring flare up during Saturday's long run. Sort of crawled the last 5 miles. Legs felt less sore during a swim and snowshoeing trip on Sunday. Really thought I was ok, but I had a subpar trainer ride yesterday. Guess its no surprise that my coach decided a rest day was in order today. I'm hoping that does the trick.4
