Hey everyone, I am very happy to say that the water has receded significantly from yesterday. It was unusually hot and sunny today and if this continues, the water just may stay in the river where it belongs! Basement is dry so I think we survived!
I took off from work early as my daughters are coming home just for dinner tonight. They go to University about one hour from where I live so it will be great to see them.
Some of my little seedlings are growing so that makes me quite happy indeed.
Take care.

Nice day outside. 69 degrees with a breeze to keep things cool. I decided to do my 1.5 miles around my neighborhood. No treadmill to make me keep a certain pace. Probably good to practice that every few days so I don't go too slowly on "race" day. I need to complete my 5K (3.1 miles) in 60 minutes or I don't get my medal.
ANYWAY...
Today's walk completed in 29 min. and 31 sec. Not good enough to complete my 5K , but definitely good enough that I have a good chance of improving my time by the time walk day arrives.
Feeling Great!

Heather - Would it help you to focus on the guest of honor at this birthday party? My attitude is that as long as the guest of honor has a good time the party is a success. Doesn't mean I don't try to make it pleasant for the other attendees. I just focus on making the one person happy and pampered.2

Hi all. Thank you for your good wishes. It was much harder than I anticipated since he had been sick for so long.
Cheryl: I remember you but I forgot the name I used to call you! Welcome back.
Gloomy grey day here, we haven't had much sun at all for the last 3 weeks.
DH has a court appearance Thursday, so please pray for the best outcome possible.
Sorry this is so short; I am on a break from teaching and must get back.
Take care, Meg from Omaha2 -
Penny - a chocolate chip pizza is just a large 8" round cookie cut like a pizza. It's really good with coffee - and something I have trouble resisting. I should've frozen it.

Cheryl - I remember you. Sorry about the ribs! Ouch!
Mia - The guest of honour will be 6 and I guess will be very happy when he sees his Pokemon cake. I just wanted to help them out as they've just had Bea's party and they are sooooooooooooo busy. My main worry is the cousin, 5, who is inclined to be hyperactive. Plus my garden is not looking it's best. Never mind. I've ordered bright party plates, cups etc. Just got to get organised. I'm going to make the cake this Wednesday. Hoping for good weather.
I will get the evening meal prepared in advance as well as DS and family will be staying over.
Did some memoir today, so all is well. Yoga tomorrow.
Calories going well. I'm hungry, but it's time for bed.
Ordered another kettle.

Meg, you always and consistently called me Carol. But I always knew if you were saying nice things, then it was about me1
-
Ginger - I feel your pain - Four days ago I had pizza and it took me until now to get back to where I was - How can one meal put 1.5 pounds on? - likely all the salt I guess but ugh. I feel really aweful as I have not had bread in like a month...well now I have not had bread in 4 days...set me back it did but I am moving forward again all is fine. I will recover - cookies are also difficult for me and freezing is not help as I like em frozen just fine. Just reside myself to never buying. Fortunately DH never shops (the good) so I can only blame myself (the bad)3

evening Ladies~
wow a stunner of a day, had to work until 5 but have the windows open whooo hooo, the birds are singing..
worked hard today.. will check in in the am2 -
Had a humongous salad for lunch salad that had bacon, turkey, hard boiled eggs, cheese , tomatoes, and a sprinkling of fried onion bits. That with some salad greens. The only saving grace was that it was fairly low carb. I never realized tomatoes had so many carbs. The dressing was a lite ranch. So, I suffered most of the afternoon but feel better now. Tomorrow is another day!1

Hello ladies: We just had hail here this afternoon. The sun was shining earlier. Glad I had finished feeding horses for the afternoon. Hail on the metal roof of the barn is not nice. Will have to go out and check our new blueberries and tomatoes to see how they did in the hail. I was the only one at yoga this morning so they did not have class and I just did my own thing. Eating is going well today.
Sarah - I am glad your basement cleanup is going well.
Barbi - Sounds like you had a wonderful day in Seattle.
Beth - Hope things go well at the orthopedist and other problems work out.
Meg - So sorry you lost Benny. He hung in there for a long time. Prayers for you and your DH.
Pip - Twinkie is looking good.
Cheryl - I remember you. Your current horse looks a lot like mine except that mine is still very fuzzy and shedding like crazy. If I remember right you have a standard poodle too. Welcome back!!
Everyone take care, Sue in WA4 -
Karen, I read what you said to Ginger and I think you are spot on - I had the pizza at a time when I was really hungry (was out and about) and thus it looked exceptionally good (where I would have looked at the dripping grease and ran normally) I think being hungry and not having something available (my case) is key (hmmm I should have learned this already) - thanks for that !4

Cheryl, I remember you. I'm sorry to hear about your fall and your broken ribs. My best friend in line dance fell from her horse in December, broke several ribs and a bone in her spine, and after surgery, is still walking with a cane and has no idea when she'll be riding or dancing again. I'm glad to see you back and hope to see you regularly.
Sue in WA we had sun followed by hail here, too. The hail started a few minutes after I took the dogs on their afternoon walk.

Cheryl: I remember you well. I wrote a post in response to yours and can't find it. I must have done something wrong when I posted and it went into outer space. Your current photos show you on a horse that reminds me of the last one I saw of you on horseback back when. I remember thinking it was an Arab. Is it the same horse? I think you look like you're happy and enjoying life in the photo.

Raccoon mess, droppings, vapor barrier and insulation are all gone. YAY!!!!! Tomorrow they'll install new insulation, new vapor barrier, and hook our furnace ducts back up. I can hardly wait to feel heat in our upstairs bedrooms. It has been a cold, cold winter inside our house. :grumble:

NYKaren … I believe that this “freshman thing” is called growing up…
Yvonne … I agree that a degree is important … no matter what it’s in … and that’s one of the reasons why we agreed to the music industry degree. My DH, who does not hold a college degree, but went to trade school … was eventually held back at his present employer … despite the fact that the vice-presidents and president contact him continually because of his knowledge base. At one point, he was told him that if he wanted any more promotion he had to go to college … because those levels had a college education requirement… they would even pay for it … but it was when he was still a swing shift worker and we had a lot going on with our son and he couldn’t see a way to do it. So that “piece of paper” means an awful lot in today’s world.
Cheryl … I remember you! Welcome back!
So the diagnosis is “pes anserine bursitis.” It’s self-limiting and since I’m already showing improvement, I don’t need further treatment (like cortisone) at this point. I’m to lay low and not duplicate the stupid things I did on Friday! And I’m to expect at least 4 weeks until I see complete improvement. I do know that obesity is a contributing factor and I need to take this as a serious wake up call. My knees demand that I take off as much weight as I can. Before I regained some of my 70+ pound loss, my knees were feeling great …
Becca … I’ve been limited on what I can make for myself the last few days and this afternoon a friend dropped off dinner … barbecued chicken, rice and sweet potatoes … and then a 9x9 pan of some frosted chocolate thing … none of which is really part of my normal eating habits … So I ate it, enjoyed it and will move on tomorrow (I did not eat the whole chocolate thing!!)

Well my girls had a real tough time their freshman year in college. Christina, even though she declared a major, I think she really just wanted that Mrs degree. She found the man her first day and she really didn't try that much after that. After he graduated, she tried even less. She didn't go back after they got married on Christmas break. I thought she had just the one semester to go and surely that wouldn't be hard to get but she told me that she only had enough credits to put her through her junior year. But with what her jobs have taken her, she has gained so many different things. I can not believe the places her jobs have taken her. It just shows that a college education doesn't hold that much meaning to me. Now Michelle is a different story. She went to college, I know she did. I took her there. But that's about it. She enjoyed dorm life and I'm not sure she went across the street to attend classes. At the end of the year, her GPA was .667. She says it should have been .666 but it was a Baptist school and they morally couldn't give a .666. She also has so much street smart that she has thrived so much in her adult years. Both of them could have been in a much larger pay grade in the jobs they wanted when they were planning for college but it doesn't matter to them. They are both happy.
Speaking of college, my 10 year old grand daughter is saving quarters. She has over $22 now. She wants to make sure she has enough money for the washers and dryers in college!
We did the final pick of our outdoor trim colors today. I had wanted burgandy and a mid range grey but Charlie didn't want the burgandy at all. And he was saying that if I didn't want his colors, there would be no painting. End of discussion. So today I made him looks through the color books the painter gave us. He gave me names of colors and I wrote them down and then we went to paint stores. I showed the sales people a picture of our house and said we wanted to recreate that color scheme. She brought out the colors he picked and they were so red. Finally she brought out a color that she loved. It was burgandy. So I let him pick out the grey to go with it also. He thinks he has picked out both colors. But I got the exact red I wanted, he just hasn't realized it yet. But that also changed the color of gutter. I don't think it goes well with the burgandy so we are going to have to look at the colors of gutter again to see what the greys look like. We could get uncolored gutters and have the painter paint them but that will cost another $350.
Yeah Mia!!!!!!!

Hello lovely ladies!
I only made it up to page 8 of March's thread and then Epic took over my life with go-lives at work again. And now here we are on page 24 before I even jump in on April. Good golly! My bad! You guys must roll your eyes when you see me! LOL! At least I keep trying...
I want to at least keep myself accountable and set new goals. Hopefully I will get caught up and be able to maintain some sort of conversation with the group this month.
Finally got a sewing area set up in the basement so I'm excited to get busy trying to quilt again. Maybe I'll actually finish the quilt I started 3 years ago. LOL! I think my DH would faint.
Work is still stressful in the world of Epic training. My boss retired at the end of March. She was my boss but also was my friend, my mentor, my confidante, my cheerleader...20 some years we worked together. I cried a lot that day. I miss her a lot. They sold their house and moved up north to their cottage on the lake. I hope to get up there and see her one of these days this summer.
I can't wait to get a few hours to catch up. I left March starred as a favorite so maybe I can catch up on last month's too, but I'm guessing I'll be lucky to read the 24 pages of April I'm already behind on...
I hope you are all doing great! Spring is here! Yea!!!
March Goals:
1. Drop one size in pants Nope. Been emotionally eating for 2 months and am SO MAD at myself!
2. Make exercise a habit at least 3 times a week. Nope.
3. Reduce added sugars Much better than before!
4. Hit my water intake goal 24 of 31 days Not 24 days but darn near.
5. Write down 5 things I'm grateful for at the end of each day, no matter how big or small. Every single night. It's how I end my day.
April Goals
1. Hit mini goal of -5 lbs
2. Make exercise a habit 4 days out of the week now that it's getting nicer outside
3. Decrease carbs <75g 5 out of 7 days a week
4. Continue reading my "Simple Abundance..." book, working the assignments and writing in my gratitude journal.

I almost missed National Sibling's Day! I was saving this photo for Easter, but here it is a few days early--that's my older sister to the left, me in the middle, and younger brother on the right. As adults, sis is 5' 4" tall, I ended up 5' 9" tall, and little brother is 6' 2" tall....we just reversed with 5" between us = reverse stairsteps! All still living and knock wood, pretty healthy. This photo was taken probably 60 years ago (around 1957?)....
A funny - that was my favorite dress in first grade. One day it blew off the clothesline and ended up in the pigpen...I never wore it again since the pigs had a great time shredding it.
