Oh yeah... 2nd Fit Test was last night (for New Rules Of Working out For Insane Zombie Survival).

    My results: http://nrowfizs.blogspot.com/2011/07/day-16-fit-test-2-kate.html
    Smersh's results: http://nrowfizs.blogspot.com/2011/07/day-16-fit-test-2-scott_20.html

Anyone can do this... don't need Insanity or weights if you have imagination.
I actually just found your blog yesterday and I've been looking over the information you've got on there. Excellent resource but I wish there was an explanation of some of the workouts as I don't have the New Rules of Lifting: for Women and can't afford a copy at this time. Oh well, I'm sure copyright law prevents you from doing such and I wouldn't want you to get in trouble for that!! I'll just keep doing what I'm doing until I can get a copy of the book. :D As for Insanity, I've got a friend with it and they're willing to let me borrow it whenever necessary. :D

Nice! Exercise.com is a great resource for building your own strength workout (or any workout really).

p.s. I got NROLFW for mother's day, my husband got NROL for father's day. LOL

Very cool on the gifts! I'm kind of hoping for a pair of proper running shoes and/or an HRM for my birthday (tomorrow!) but I'm not holding my breath. I'm likely going to get some gift cards though so I might be able to get some books.

I did manage to find myself a copy of "Convict Conditioning" which has a pretty good progression into full-body, body weight workouts so I'm going to work with that and resuming C25K (crappy shoes an all.) However, I'm not really buying into this whole take a day off thing... I didn't get a day off while I was in the Army and I was working out a lot harder than I am now! And I'm at a comparable fitness level to when I started [basic] training.

That's not to say I don't take it easier on some days than others, but I believe in full-body workouts daily. Of course, YMMV and I highly encourage rest days for those that need them, and I do take days off when my body demands it. :D

Looks like I've missed out on some vital training.

In general, my running is pretty good - I'm building up for a Marathon and my sprints aren't bad anyway. But I have to ask myself - is it all about running (a long way) away ? Probably not. Minimally I should be able to perform the following tasks:

    1) Get over an 6 foot fence with enough speed that my ankles will not get bitten
    2) Run whilst carrying weapons and or food without tripping up or shooting self in foot
    3) Throw a small to medium sized child onto a moving truck
    4) Get a stiffy whilst being confined in a tight space*
    5) Learn to obtain food without paying by credit card. or cash. or leaving an IOU.
    6) Reprogram my brain not to try and defuse confrontational situations by reasoning with people and or offering them a pint
    7) Learn to open cans with my teeth

*Basically I'm assuming that, if hiding in a caravan or lift with a beautiful woman - knowing that my future contains either starvation or having brains eaten - I want to go out happy!

Accordingly I will make the following changes to my training programs
    1) Sign up for a day at an assort course, Maybe go climbing?
    2) Take a back pack on my next run - I could do with taking drinks on the longer runs anyhow.
    3) Upper body strength at gym
    4) W##king in a public toilet
    5) Shoplifting
    6) Randomly punching people
    7) Throw away the tin opener

Now - just a thought - if I can just remove my brain - would that make me unattractive to zombies? I don't think anyone would notice.

ohh this topic makes me so happy!!! Although i'm not a firm believer in Z day, i don't discount it either...anything is possible and whether it's Zombies, or human kind turning on itself...we must be prepared!!!

I've just started adding jogging into my work outs...hopefully some day that will turn into running, and then the distance will be soon to follow. I really also want to start lifting weights, but i have no clue where to start. My goal has always been to be able to manipulate my OWN body to do things (kind of like parkour?) Where i could jump fences, climb trees, run, crawl, flips, etc etc... we'll see how that goes, my lower body strength has always been better than my upper body strength, something i truely need to work on (weakest arms EVER).

I Think i'll be checking back here more often!! :D

    3 recommendations:

    1) Get thyself a copy of The New Rules of Lifting (or New Rules of Lifting for Women). Libraries are great.
    2) Find a trainer for a couple of sessions to show you good lifting form.
    3) Check out ZombieFit.org for a Parkour workout of the day.

I don't have TNROL(FW) but I did get myself a copy of "Convict Conditioning" by Paul "Coach" Wade. While I don't care for Mr. Wade's personal views on what it means to be a "real man" or other such things, his techniques and instructions are excellent. It's 100% body weight workouts.

There are 6 "big movements" within the program; Push Ups, Squats, Pull Ups, Leg Raises, Bridges and Handstand Push Ups with 10-steps to go from, for example, wall push-ups to one-arm push ups. Seems to be working well for me thus far, but I really, really, really need to get my nutritional intake (diet) under better control.

Made brazil nut butter tonight. Fantastic on toast: high calorie but the good kind you need after working out. Enjoyed it. Not brain - therefore conclude i am not a zombie at this time. Although i do fancy trying this with walnuts: a dangerious step! Also, would pecans be classed as a (riddly scott) alien brain? Where does that leave me on my daily "am i a zombie" checklist?

Other things on my checklist include...
Is my skin grey and peeling? (not grey, peelng a little around running blisters)
Have any limbs fallen off? Are any threatening to do so? (no, uncertain)
Was i, at any point, to my knowledge, dead? (no)
Have i bitten anyone (only during foreplay)
Has anyone i have bitten turned into a zombie (no, but occasionally turned out to be evil)
Do i want to eat brains (no, just nuts shapped like brains)

Probability of being a zombie: 3/10

Im starting to rethink this zombie survival thing.
I mean if you have ever seen 28 days or Zombieland Land those 'zombies' are really really fast! With all of that cardio and surviving on a diet consisting mainly of brains (really low carb)... I could reach my goal weight in no time!
Maybey zombies aren't so bad after all! I will try not to eat any of your guys though.

True, you'd reach your goal weight, but decomposition means a loss in lean muscle mass.

This is an oldie, but one of my favorite articles on Z-Day: http://www.cracked.com/article_18683_7-scientific-reasons-zombie-outbreak-would-fail-quickly.html

Now, from my perspective, it would depend on the reason for reanimation. If it's viral, or supernatural. If it's viral, then I agree with the reasons listed. If it's supernatural, then all laws of science and physics go RIGHT out the window.

This lists some interesting points. I will write them a scathing email explaining all the reasons they turned out to be wrong just before I get eaten by zombies.

Meanwhile - latest 'am I a zombie' check.

Went to gym today. None of my limbs fell off when I was lifting heavy weights. This is a good sign.

Pet cat tried to eat my nose. It failed. Not sure what this proves.

Went on long run at the weekend - very hot (for England) Did not melt or petrify. Melting felt like a possibility. Probably not zombie. I may be a wicked witch?

Went to joint 60th and 80th birthday party of Mum and Grandma at weekend. Ate a lot of food but none of the guests. Good result for zombie check. Bad for diet.

Was not turned on by zombie porn. Good sign all round.

Probability of being a zombie: 2/10
Probability of being a wicked witch: 4/10

Why, are zombies scared of coffee? If so I have completely conclusive evidence that I am NOT a zombie!

OMG - Unless... and this theory has some logic.. unless I am turning into a zombie and coffee is acting as an antidote, repressing the change process. I do feel sluggish, uncoordinated and generally zombolic before my first caffeine hit of the day!
