Forgot to say I was down 3.4 lbs at TOPS yesterday!11

When I weigh in the morning I always channel my nudist self! I used to weigh in at TOPS in my swimsuit, until they told me I couldn't do that! They said it wasn't normal daily attire. Oh they do not even know what normal attire is for me! Summertime I can be found wearing my swag, but I do wear clothes out and about! When my sons were younger, they would be pulling off their clothes in the RV, even before we turned the corner into the clothing optional resort! Sometimes I would just wear my swag home! I hated leaving the resort, so most times my husband was in the RV driving, then honk, and I would dash out of the pool, waving to everyone....like a nudey queen!!! Haha!

There you can have a look see. No all the nudists had to hide when they took pics for this website. Or cross their legs just so!1 -
Dana I weigh myself first thing in the morning and last thing at night in exactly the same clothes. I write the weight on a chart that I keep. I have done this since 2009 It allows me to stay focused on the journey and points out trends and the effects of high sodium meals. My weight at the doctor's office is significant only in comparison with other weighing at the doctor's office. I don't compare it to the at home weight6

I notice doctors scales are mostly clunky old things that the nurses don't take time for the weights to settle out.2

Just finish reading posts, there are alot everyday. I love the before and after pics. Congrats.
I am headed out to my veggie garden area - the weeds and the goatheads have taken over, I will be at least another week getting it ready to plant. Marti2 -

Beautiful sunny day here with a nice breeze. I planted a Mandevilla plant by the mail box. It is a vine that twines around and has pretty pink flowers. I just had a problem digging the hole deep enough. Also planted Shasta daisies. They were so root bound that it was almost impossible to break them up. Will see. Also pulled these huge vines out of my Rose of Sharon tree. It took both me and the DH to get them out.

Happy Lost Sock Memorial Day!
I had a long conference call first thing this morning, and it's thrown off my day in terms of reading posts. Let's see if I can catch up!
DJ - Congratulations on having your daughter nearby again! I just saw a post from someone nearby looking to rehome a Great Dane puppy... I'm having to sit on my hands to keep from responding. We adore Luna, but I do miss having a giant dog.
Kate - What a great place for an art installation! I think the figures on the beach are evocative in a way they might be if they were anywhere else.
Becca - Pie and lattes - hilarious!
Dana - I weight in on Wednesdays, first thing in the morning, in my shortie pajamas.
Philip and I are making the Hairy Bikers Spanish-style chicken bake this afternoon - one for our dinner tonight and one to take to our friends we're cooking for this month. It smells heavenly but the kitchen is getting kind of hot!
Tonight is "Detox & Retox" (yoga) so I'm thinking of sending Philip off to deliver dinner while I get my mellow on. It would be a welcome break after what is turning out to be a frenetic day.
Hurray for me - yesterday I finally got back on the exercise bike. I used the interval timer on my phone and worked it pretty hard, so I felt thoroughly worked out when I was done!

Yeah, I wish we all could customize our cable/dish packages. I don't listen to over half and probably 3/4 stations offered. Consider here that a lot of those stations are music. I like my basic stations, golf, HGTV and Hallmark. I did ask for the Hallmark movie mystery channel and after the 3 months free of that I will probably keep it. She did give us 3 months free of Starz.
Our Evansville families are trying to decide where to go for Mother's Day. My dear wonderful, ha ha, husband suggested Bob Evans. yeah, that's like going to McDonalds for me. We go there so often it is not special. I think it is between Cheddars, Red Lobster or a local steak house that has prime rib to die for.
Really tired today, not in a talkative mood.

Lanette: I'm sorry you had a mess in the garage. Our whole garage is a mess, but an organized mess. We've never kept a car in it and we've lived here for 20 years.
Heather: You have a good attitude about your housing situation. The photos of your home that you posted in the past are lovely and I'd live there in a heartbeat if I could. I love living in a small town that is near enough to a city. I doubt you'd think of Portland, OR as a BIG city, but it is big enough and close enough. Good public transportation would make a world of difference because the freeways are too jammed with big trucks and quite unpleasant to drive. Western Oregon and Western Washington are handicapped by one main freeway that has to handle too much traffic. The topography doesn't really allow for a second freeway. Both states have a coast range, a valley, and the Cascade mountain range. The bulk of each state's populations are located in that valley. Washington has a better public transportation than Oregon, but in both states, the public transportation system serves the largest city, and not much else. Washington does have a fabulous ferry system. If you ever get to the west coast of the US you will want to ride some of those ferries.
Lenora: I slam my iceberg lettuce on the counter to remove the core, too. Great minds think alike. DH loves iceberg lettuce, but I've come to prefer Romaine.
Dana: I weigh first thing in the morning one or two times a week, in the nude. My scale is in the bedroom and I have all the privacy I want. :flowerforyou:
Today is gorgeous and the river is deep. I assume that the Bonneville Power Administration is letting as much water down the spillways as possible without causing flooding. They seem to do a great job planning for the tides. The Columbia River is tidewater all the way to Portland Harbor. In the summer when the water level is lower we sometimes have the river running backwards in front of our house. It was quite a surprise the first time we saw logs floating up stream.
Have a great day!

Becca … laughing about the packaging switcheroo… I have done this at Christmas for the last few years. I bake cookies and freeze most of them, but they’ll eat them frozen too. So now I package the frozen cookies in saved frozen vegetable bags. They have not caught on yet as to why I have so many bags of green beans during the holidays!
Katla … Subway was my choice at the travel centers too! McDonald’s is a killer but manageable. Found a Panda Express and everything there was labeled for calories … sodium … not so much.
Dana … I have done every one of those things before getting weighed … I want to see the lowest weight possible on the doctor’s scale!
Toni … fantastic weight loss at Tops!
Well the pool is open. Opener said he tried the heater to make sure it was running but figured I would want it turned off. Yeah … since we’re having nightly freeze warnings. After looking at the work that needed done around our yard (which included a broken pool fence), he asked if I wanted to vacuum the pool myself … which I can do … he told me it will be a substantial savings on the bill. We’ll see what substantial means when I get the bill.
Today I sat the college boy down and told him that when the food is gone it’s gone … so he had better slow down on his consumption! Hahaha. He took it seriously so I’m running with it. Truth is, my husband would go into debt for eternity to make certain his family is fed … family history there that left a huge impact on my husband. When we got married he very seriously told me “we will always have food.” And we always have. I do think it’s time to start eating from the freezer though. Half the battle there is planning and getting things thawed. Planning, planning, planning.
Stayed on track yesterday … on track so far today …
Beth near Buffalo

Toni - Many congratulations! That's a big loss!
I lost around 1.5 lbs last week. Don't know exactly because my scales are analogue and old fashioned, but it's definitely more than a pound. Only 2 pounds to go to be back at target.
I've lost my cleaner. Last week she rang just before she was due to arrive to say her father had collapsed and she was going to the hospital with him. Today she texted and evidently he had died and she and her mother were terribly upset. It was totally unexpected and he was a big part of her life. Almost like a best friend. She is married, but has no children. She is my son's age. Her dad must have been my age. So she is moving in with her mum to help her cope with the shock. Her mum lives a way from here. So she can't come any more.
Not a good moment for me with the party and stay over this weekend and only one arm. But we'll manage between us. I'm going to have to sit down tomorrow and make a big list of stuff to buy and do. DH has cricket all day on Friday, so we will have to prepare before that. Panicking a bit, but it'll be fine. Lots of things I can't do with the arm and everything I can do takes twice as long and hurts. Can't drive etc. He has mowed the grass. There are weeds everywhere, but that's too bad. I can't make beds and I've got to fill , ice and decorate the cake and make dinner and lunches. With one arm. Aaaaarrrgggghhhh!
DON'T LET THE PERFECT BE THE ENEMY OF THE GOOD.
Lists, lists, lists. Tomorrow is another day.

Good morning my dear friends. I am working the 6-6 shift today and then tonight at church they are starting a 6 week women's Bible study that I signed up for. Today was weigh in day and I lost .1 which is better then I expected. One day at a time.
Meg--Happy Be-lated Birthday.
Janetr--Hugs! You can vent here anytime.
Sunday afternoon DH and I took the triker over to the doctor clinic's parking lot and he started teaching me to drive the trike. It is different trying to shift with my foot, but I did ok and got into 2nd with no problems. I did like it and may just have to keep practicing so I can ride by myself at times. But that is a long way off at this point.
DH and I weigh in every Tuesday morning at the hospital where I work on the same scale. That seems to work best for us.
Well ladies I am up to date on reading and run out of time to say much. Take care, Blessings, Vicki Grand Island,NE3 -
Heather, wish I were close I would certainly come help. I cannot ice and decorate a cake or cook like you do but I can certainly make beds and clean house. All will be fine, we know you are a perfectionist and terrific host. Biggest hugs ever.

On my last post about DDnL wanting to go back to 'diet doctor' ... I meant to say DDnL#1; DDnL#2 is slim, nice shape.
Hope y'all in the Seattle, WA will find out when the Chinese Warrior Exhibition is going to be there and get to go; it is worth the time. Really interesting and well done. And you can move through it at your leisure and the earphones means you can hear it all.
A/C still 'out'; it is about 85 inside and out; but, the fans are running at full speed. We'll turn them down as soon as it is dark and cools down outside. Trey told us that our A/C's guy's Mother and Sister were in a bad wreck down in FL, so that might be why we can't get in touch with him.

Hello all from a sunny Seattle today! It's actually reached 65, yea!
I'm new here so bear with me - I made some notes a few days ago and have a few brief replies;
sorry if it seems old news now!
Lanette/Dana/Heather UK : I met my husband online too. Back in 2006, Yahoo had a personals. We'd both been doing the online dating thing for a while & knew the drill. I was getting tired of it and decided to take a last stab at it, so I shortened up my profile (seems guys don't like to read), added a list of my favorite movies, and a week later, he wrote me! A couple weeks after that we met up for brunch, and the rest is history! We married in September of 2008.
gotu52 - Per SIFF, even a couple days at the film festival is fun. The first year I went, I saw 6 films over Memorial Day weekend, and by the time it was over, I felt like I had been out of town! That's one of the benefits of seeing films from other countries. It opens your eyes to new places, ideas, & things.
lhannon062709 - You might try Echinecea supplements. I used them recently when I was fighting a head cold, and within a couple of days I was fine!
I'm going to a yoga class this evening - my first since I was a teenager. I'm not sure what to expect of myself, or my flexiblility or balance. It'll be interesting, for sure! But I admit I'm a tad nervous. Always hard for me to start new things, and getting my "feet wet" is the hardest part. Any suggestions, ladies?
Cheers,
Claudia in Seattle5 -

Did an hour of a 20-40-60 (speed intervals) workout on the treadmill. The plan for tomorrow is to do the South Beach Diet Supercharged DVD since we have a Newcomer general meeting.
Went out to lunch with some of the ladies in the neighborhood. I thought I was pretty good, mostly peas & carrots, some cottage cheese (oh the sodium probably), a small thin slice of beef, cup of hot tea (why do they always want to give you iced tea?), salad with mushrooms, grape tomatoes, cucumbers and onions (no dressing).
Afterwards, went to get the oil in my car changed then stopped at the Green Room to pick up some of the boxes they had. See, the programs come in these heavy but not real big boxes. Since my girlfriend (one of the gals we play mahjongg with on Mondays) is moving, these will be nice for heavy things like books etc. Vince is at shooting right now (with the Newcomers). We got another load of riverrock delivered, but this time only 2 yards (the minimum you can buy for delivery). We won't be doing a whole lot, but over the years some of the rock has settled so we're just going to use it to fill in.
Tomorrow we have a Newcomer general meeting. Then in the afternoon Vince is going to wait for the guy from Charter to be here while I go to Aldi, then ceramics at night.
Becca - that pilates post really made me smile. Thanks
Paula - I have heard of freezing cabbage, just never did it.
Beth - sending you some coupons!!!!
Becca - for years and years when the kids were little I'd buy store brand cheerio-o's and put them in a Cheerio box. Boy, were they ever surprised to find out that I did this!
Helen - happy birthday to your hubby. Have fun celebrating
Dana - my "official" weight-in day is Sat. am. I weigh myself on the same scale shortly after going to the bathroom. I'm just in my pajamas so I figure that's not adding that much.
Becca - wonder if there's a TOPS meeting at a nudist colony? That would be interesting. Laguna del Sol looks like such a relaxing place. Now I know why you liked it there so much
katla - speaking of Romaine lettuce. The gal whose house we go to on Mondays to play mahjongg, her dogs absolutely love the lettuce ribs from the Romaine. That's one of the reasons I give Vince romaine. Honestly, the way these dogs get so excited when I come with the lettuce ribs, you would think I was coming with a t-bone steak!
Beth - when my kids were little, every year, never failed, our bathroom downstairs was "broken" and I had to lock the door to keep someone from accidentally using it. Actually, that's where I kept the presents as I was wrapping. Do you know that they never caught on how every year the bathroom broke and suddenly the day after Christmas, it was fixed. They finally caught on after we'd moved out of the house.
Claudia - you're just fine

Claudia, let us know how the yoga goes...is this with a group? At a gym? I've been checking it out too. I see our gym has morning basics, and there's a private teacher downtown who has groups and also private lessons. The gal posted photos of her place on her website, looks very nice - the students are dressed in tight clothing like leotards. Gulp. Maybe that's the "A" team, lol. I am more a sweatpants person.
I met my husband via "snail-mail". In the late 60's, I was a freshman in college and the newspaper printed a little article saying if anyone wanted to write to a Marine in Vietnam, send a letter to such and such an address. So I did, said I was a journalism major (at the time) and I can't recall what else. Several months later I received a letter back from the EDITOR of the Sea Tiger who said, if I didn't mind, he wanted to be my "pen pal" as we had a lot in common. We corresponded for a year, he came back to the states and was stationed on the east coast, we finally met a couple years later and the rest is history. Courtship at a glacier pace, lol.
Heather, sad to hear about your cleaning gal. Good ones are hard to find...there's the issue of how well they clean AND how trustworthy they are. The timing isn't the best but it will work out. Congrats on the weight loss! You rock!!
Lisa - your new job sounds energizing! Isn't it fun planning, making lists, getting new ideas? I am thrilled for you. You'll hit it head on and do a great job, I just know it.
Beth, we need to start eating from the freezer at our house too. I don't have any cookies in green bean bags, darn it, lol. That's an idea though.
Becca, thanks for that nifty way to store canning jars. If we had the room I'd put this on DH's "to do" list. Putting brackets/supports under those shelves has been on his current to-do list for a long time, this event likely moved it up on the list. I checked out the resort - what a lovely place! I'd like to have the tanning lotion concession! For fair redheads like me, a dip in a tank would be fine, lol. I am jealous of your tan!
Leigh, you continue to impress me. It's neat to see how you have truly changed how you eat - thank you for the stories and tips you have shared!
My aching back is on the mend. Heating pad, stretches, and a high-strength curcumin blend I picked up at the health food store worked better than hydrocodone, I swear. Also got an Aleve TENS unit - that thing is nifty! Boy it really can jolt a person but it scrambles the pain nerves. THANK YOU to all of you who gave feedback on TENS - it helped a lot!
Menopause....I reached meno at the ripe old age of 60! A year later spotted, had a D&C. Finally, the hormonal migraines went away - I don't mind the couple extra inches around the waist. Funny, in my mid 50's the doc did a hormone test to see if I was getting close to meno....the report was "you are in menopause" but I continued to have periods for the next 5 years. I asked her why this was happening, she shrugged her shoulders. Perhaps the hormone tests are unreliable? What's the point of them then? I question everything.
It was another beautiful day here. Katla, how neat you get to see the water table as a result of the Bonneville Dam. Army Core of Engineers are a little worried about the Mayfield Dam so will be releasing more water from it. We're 20 miles from the Cowlitz River so no worries about flooding at our house.
Ok ladies, Hump Day tomorrow!
Lanette

Michele – Iced tea? ‘Cause ya in the South! Hot tea is a Brit thing. I can tolerate regular tea heated; but, for some reason I have not found a ‘flavored’ tea that doesn’t have somewhat of an ‘oily’ taste/feel to it. Maybe someone has a suggestion.
Boxes that liquor comes in and egg boxes also are good ones to have for moving. But, generally you need to go by and ask when their next shipment is; and, if you can come by and pick some up. Depending on ‘their’ back room, they will save them until the end of the day. If they put them out in the trash, even if they are broken down, they get snatched up quickly.
Louis keeps saying that he wants to gravel the driveway. We have a parking pad in the carport which is concrete; then in front of my studio and a turnaround in front of his shed. He said something to DDnL#1 about riding up in the grass making ruts instead of the dirt/gravel ruts in the driveway. She blew it all out of proportion; and, made some unnecessary comment to Trey, who passed it on to Louis. Louis told him ‘that HE will hurt her feelings for sure the net time she does it; and, he will put chain and stakes to keep her from doing it. Trey gets his truck back; and, they might be turning in her vehicle before they come to get it.
Louis will eat some things that are store brand; but, he wants the real thing when it comes to Coffee-Mate. To me store brand olives are much better than Mt. Olive or one of the other brand name.
My parents hid the presents in the cedar closet; which we were NOT allowed in at any time because that is where Daddy kept his guns, albeit not loaded, under the stairs behind 2 rods of clothes. We had 2 sets of stairs that had landings and 4 closets underneath them.
There are so many ‘human’ foods that should not be given to our ‘fur-babies’. Make sure they ‘never’ eat a grape or raisin. If it doesn’t kill them, you will be facing an expensive surgery. So we have never given our dogs or cats ‘scrapes’; especially not raw meat. Once they get ‘blood’ taste, they will either bite or kill others (people or fur-babies). Cracker picked up some of Louis ‘chewing tobacco’ and had it hanging out both sides of her mouth. It didn’t do anything, it just stuck to the fur around her mouth and she doesn’t like having things pulled off her – stickers or cockaburs, or beggar lice.
It has not cooled down any and it is 9:00pm. Guess who will be sleeping in the nude!!!!!

Stuffed Cabbage Makers - I core my cabbage and freeze it. To make the stuffed cabbage, I thaw the cabbage and remove the back portion of the rib. I combine raw hamburger, and cooked rice in about equal proportions.I also add diced onions, diced red peppers, diced celery and sometimes crumbled fried bacon. I mix this all together and make up the stuffed cabbage rolls. I then pack in freezer bags, single layer, and freeze. I also put some in a roaster to cook for supper that night. To cook them, place frozen in roaster. Combine 1 can of tomato soup with 1/2 can of water. Pour over the cabbage and bake in oven at 350F for approx. 3 hours.
Jenn from Canada - where do you live? I am in Thompson, Manitoba (north) but lived in Regina, Saskatchewan for many years.

Still trying to get the wedding pic on here but it saved incorrectly on my PC so will have to find out how to save as a jpg or something else. About my hair in my senior picture - that was all mine. remember ratting? I did a lot of that. I always want to be a hair designer but met my husband in my junior year and got married right out of high school. Anyway I did a lot with my hair as well as cutting my sister's and mom's hair by copying instructions in McCall magazine. I loved that magazine - it was an original DIY magazine. Anyone else remember Betsy McCall and the paperdoll cutout and clothes?
The flooding in my home was minimal but some of my neighbors got way worse. I guess I forgot to put two zeros on the 25 lightning strikes during the storm making it 2500! Still a mess here from all the trees down but slowly getting back to normal.
I have to run to the store for milk so I'll try to get back later. Wish I had a cow!
Gloria in WA where it was so toasty in my car today with the sunny weather that I parked in my parking space a took a very short snooze .4 -
Hello all!
I did a total of 45 min on my peddler and under my calorie goal.
I found what NSV means! You don't know how many combinations of acronyms I went through before Googling!!
For you newbies it means Non-scale Victories!!
"We" were talking about how y'all met your husbands. I met DH on Yahoo!'s dating site too. I think I really impressed him, my saying "I could merge into heavy traffic!"
Menopause: I used to have the worst hot flashes. I was a grocery broker in SoCal and when I felt one coming on I would run into the walkin freezers at the back of the stores and sit on a pallet of ice cream!! I would sit there until I was freezing!! It's been 13 yrs since.
Lanette There all sorts of cute yoga pants to wear. But you can wear anything you like just as long as you can move. Try a relaxing flow class.
Good night all

My Mother's Ring I had made for myself! I traded some stones and gold and I put the diamonds back into the new ring. It turned out very nice and one of a kind!! Amethyst and Aquamarine around Diamond.

Am I going crazy here? I guess it doesn't matter as long as you show a loss. Duh!

Jack and I also met on line. When he told me he had been married to his first wife for 32 years I was pretty intimidated thinking how could I ever compete with that. We talked every night on the phone for about six weeks. He was flying for a cargo carrier at the time and was out of town Tuesday through Friday. I finally agreed to meet him. That was in 2007. We got married 18 months later in Oct. of 2009. He's absolutely my knight in shining armour.
Dana your ring is gorgeous.
