That if you have a large frame, no matter how lean you get, you'll still be big compared to most other lean people.29

Going from an 18 to a 14 in my wedding dress and being pretty sure the 14 will need to be exchanged again for a smaller size come Sept!31

That clothing gets longer, as well as looser. My favorite jacket is loose but still serviceable, but the sleeves are getting ridiculously long.
Oh, and I've now experienced foot shrinkage. My slip-on sandals used to fit quite firmly. Now I have to wear socks with them if I want them to stay on. And I'm just dorky enough to do it.34 -
Weird but I now have really noticeable pre-Shark Week cravings. Like a couple days ago I was willing to commit murder if I couldn't find chocolate. I never used to have them or at least notice it. I wonder if it's because I no longer really crave sweets or junk on regular days so the only cravings left are hormonal and so they stand out more? All I know is I'm gonna invest in a couple of high quality choclate bars to store for next month.28

Funny you should say this, I never used to have cravings/excessive water retention around the TOM/ovulation when I was obese but they are awful now My periods are also very, very regular (like to the minute) and unbelievably heavy and longer.

This may sound terribly obvious, but it was a 'lightbulb' moment for me and it made me grin.
My SO spent 20+ years in the military so he has a long and purposeful stride when he walks. He was also a bachelor for a long time and didn't have a short, round woman trying to keep up with him.
I realized the other day he didn't have to stop to wait for me as often. In fact, I was keeping up with him most of the time and when he did pause for me to catch him I wasn't out of breath, just a step or two back. (He never does it on purpose, just kind of realizes I am not there suddenly and pauses for me)
Btw, I am 5'6" so not overly short, but compared to a 5'11", well-muscled man...well, I am a bit slower.

I have never heard anyone refer to her TOM as Shark Week and I love it! Makes so much sense.
I am noticing cravings more now, too. I hadn't thought about it until I read your comment. I think it's because I used to eat whatever I wanted, so giving into a craving didn't feel any different from normal. Now I try to make healthy choices so the unhealthy cravings stick out. I make homemade chocolate popsicles with banana, yogurt, milk, cocoa powder, and chocolate protein powder to replace the ice cream I used to inhale. Takes a long time to eat it, too.21 -

Noooooo.
Don't do it.

I'm experiencing a weird paradox. I like to look back and see when the last time was that I weighed the weight I am now (a year ago) and my goal weight (2015). I feel good about my weight now since I'm on the way down, but didn't feel good about it a year ago, or in 2015 when I was at my goal weight, since I was on the way up! I guess this is the, "you don't know what you got til it's gone" thing? I look back and can't believe that I was at such a good weight but didn't feel good about it at all!
I feel this way when I look at photos from high school and college. I always thought that I was chubby when I was in high school. I didn't think I was extremely fat, but I thought I needed to lose 5-10 pounds. But I didn't, I was at a really good weight in high school. As I got older and put on weight I wished that I had actually enjoyed it when I was slim.
I think I have seen on of those signs that says "I wish I was as fat as I thought I was in high school"
I however weigh less than I did in high school now. It's a nice feeling.31 -
I didn't think I'd have a crappy day and then "comfort eat"...on a 250 calorie veggie wrap!42

Saaaaame. Before when I would go out drinking with friends I would make sure that I had some smart ones in the freezer for late night snacking and now I save them for shark week cravings. Turkey Sausage muffin and I add muenster and hot sauce. It does the trick and I don't feel as bad.8 -
That things I was self conscious about before I gained weight (very pronounced eye sockets and a very large rib cage) would start to bother me again as I lost weight. I haven't noticed or thought about either of those things in a couple years, I think because they weren't as noticeable under all the fat!! I'll take being anxious about my big ribs and deep set eyes over being self conscious about fat rolls any day!13

Lol! Maybe your dad and I are kindred spirits.
I'll buy new sandals.

Me too! I've never had these issues before. I feel so uncomfortably bloated right now. AND, it's all I can do not not order all the Chinese take-out.4 -

Just to say, I feel you on the Chinese take-out wanting. Have found an amazing recipe for salted chilli chicken that sorts me.
Chicken breast cut into strips
mix 1 teaspoon of each of:
garlic salt
salt
hot chilli powder
with about 80g of breadcrumbs
shake spices and breadcrumbs together
dip chicken strips into a whisked up egg and then coat in the spice mix.
grill each side for 10 mins
(probably around 450 cals as you don't eat the whole egg unless you make egg fried rice with it after)
really curbs my craving for chinese so thought I would share14 -
That you become competitive with people at the gym.
You truly have to take responsibility for what you eat and do. That it all interconnects.
It's a long road and you will get discouraged. What you do at those times will usually determine if you reach your goal.
People wear odd things to make sure people see how attractive they are at the gym, instead of focusing on what truly is important.
The feeling is euphoric to work out and have such insatiable energy. If you have a significant other you tend to see them in a more animalistic state.11 -
Something I've been noticing the last several weeks:
I've been noticing all the ways overweight people are constantly moving and acting to deal with or accommodate their obesity, which I suspect they do not even realize. (I hadn't when it was me.) Yesterday, someone on the seat next to me was literally holding her legs together because if she didn't, she'd be touching me and on "my" side.
I am noticing how easy it is for me to go about my day because my body supports me rather than trying to accomplish things in spite of my body. This is probably a "no duh!", but there is such a difference in how thin and fit people move, and I guess I never really paid attention before.
I may be tired at the end of the day, but if I have to stand on a crowded train for 40 minutes, it may be annoying and even a little hard depending on my energy level and how much I'm carrying, but, really, it's not a big deal. For a lot of people, though, it really would be a huge problem.

That I would care more about the ways clothes fit, their fabric, etc. I have never been a shopper, but with more variety, I care now that there is a pull here or a push there with regard to clothing. And, it took me so long to 'grow out' of my clothes despite losing 25 lbs, I now understand that I was likely wearing the wrong size for quite some time. Now that stuff really fits, I *get* how it is *supposed* to fit.18
