If I go a few days without enough sleep, it suddenly gets so hard to control cravings, I start feeling like a failure, I want to give up on the whole thing and I feel like I haven't made any progress. Then I finally get a good night's rest and it isn't so hard anymore to stick to my plan. Seems like I should have put it together a long time ago. Get enough sleep!!! Staying up late for that extra 'me' time is just. Not. Worth. It.
So true.

.....Appetite Regulation
In other research, sleep quantity and quality have been shown to play a role in regulating the hormone ghrelin, known as the hunger hormone that controls appetite. Discovered in 1999, this amino acid peptide is the only known peripherally produced and centrally acting hormone that influences the desire for food.....

These results suggest that sleep quality and quantity may contribute to weight loss in intervention-based studies designed to promote weight control in overweight/obese adult women.

Sleep curtailment has become a common behavior and an increasing number of adults report sleep complaints in modern society. Laboratory studies and multiple epidemiological studies have linked short-sleep duration and poor-sleep quality to obesity risk.

The results from this study suggest that sleep deprivation could
play a significant role in the etiology of obesity in some individuals.
Very informational! I've been working on sticking to a calorie deficit and cutting back on sugar. Sometimes when I get afternoon cravings I want to binge eat sugar I go lay down instead. Getting some sleep fends off going to out of control, even when I didn't think I was that tired.6 -
- That your mind will constantly play tricks on you. I take the subway and I'll look at a seat between 2 people and gauge if I will even fit. Once I do sit, I'll notice that I'll easily have an inch of space on each side, like, What?!
- That sometimes you have to be okay with being on this journey on your own. I secretly enjoy working out alone. It's hard to deal with people who say they want to change but always make excuses to not go to the gym AND try to sabotage you in the process. BYE, FELICIA!
- That your family will always think you are either too fat or too thin, meh.
- Being able to climb, jump, skip, run with your kids is the most incredible feeling in the world.
- That your husband will try to kick up his health factor just because he wants to make sure you keep your eyes on him and not some buff jockey type at the gym (LOL, as if I pay attention to anything else but my form and dope muscles!).
- That it's okay to not always feel victorious but as long as you keep at it you are WINNING!
that is so true about family lol keep up the good work3 -
That losing 23 lbs. would make a difference when riding my bike!
Really didn't think it would - didn't seem like a lot to me. However, today I was out on my bike, running errands, etc., for a total of just under 30 km. Realized, as I'm riding routes that I've done for years, how much easier the ride felt. It was that eureka moment when it dawned on me that it felt that way because I'm carting around 23 fewer lbs!

I'm with you - i know how much I've lost, but if I put that into other terms, like x-many bottles of water, or x-many of whatever I'm baffled. I cannot imagine carrying all that around with me, especially as I struggle with a 15kg bag of hand luggage on Easyjet - and I've lost double that! It's mind-boggling, really.13

Well, they tell you, but it's hard to grasp unless experienced - that your immune system gets much stronger. I just realized how resistant to colds proper dieting and exercising has made me. I live in a student house with six other people and by default there is at least one sick person who then becomes patient zero. Everyone has been sick about 2-4 times for the past 7-8 months, yet despite my daily interactions with them and things they have touched, they have failed to get me sick even once.31

That I would continue to rediscover my body and sometimes find myself feeling bones that I forgot were there as they were covered by fat. I am still amazed at my collarbones and ribs...14

How much less laundry I do now! Smaller clothes = more clothes per load!21

I am amazed by my ribs. Since I've been overweight/obese my whole life, I wasn't familiar with my ribs. Now (at a normal BMI) I see my rib cage in the front and feel my ribs all the way around my back. I find myself touching my ribs a lot! And I still love seeing my collarbones!17 -

That surprise restaurant lunches/dinners with my OH won't throw me into a frenzy anymore. I'll be there in the moment enjoying it without worrying about killing my calorie count for the day. I'll get back on track tomorrow.24

OH? - other husband?
Agreed. This is a lifestyle not a diet.8 -

That it won't make you any happier (for me, anyway).14

Nope you don't get used to it - I lost the weight between 2012 and 2014 and I'm constantly cold, even in the summer I wear a cami top under my clothes ... but I'd rather be perpetually cold than as big as I was before losing the weight.9 -

That too yes. The other week my husband came down with a really bad cold - As I was just a few days before a major exam I just could not afford to catch it. We threw every medication at it, but it was still pretty bad
We still slept in the same bed but refrained from cuddles (seriously starved for those). He was out for 4 days I did not catch it!14 -
Am I the only one who finds that loosing weight is helping my body temp? When I was 65lbs larger, I was freezing all the time due to poor circulation, as that's improved I find I'm warmer now and less "discoloured"! Lol17
