What nobody tells you about losing weight

How supportive your friends/family are until you lose more weight than they weigh and they suddenly become super critical and rude about your weight loss.39

How your style changes! I already lost 2/3 of my wardrobe because it's too big, but the rest is just no longer my vibe, and if it still fits, just makes me feel like I haven't lost those 50lbs at all and am still overweight!
Can't wait to get into maintenance and buy everything new!!!25 -
I really didn't expect to be more hungry on the same amount of calories the leaner you get. This might not apply to everyone but now that I'm getting closer to my goal weight, it's getting much harder to stick to the same calories I had absolutely no problem doing a while ago.
I also didn't realize how incredibly vanity sized everything is. I've just reached a healthy BMI recently (ie I'm still in my mid/high 140s with 5'5" and not that thin yet) and already wearing size M max and increasingly size S... which feels not "right". What sizes do actually thin people wear then? I used to sew as a teenager (ie many years ago) and found some old size charts for comparison recently; and indeed with the exact same measurements it used to be 1 to 2 sizes bigger.
But it's not only clothes which are vanity sized... eg even my cereal bowls are vanity sized. Just kidding. Sort of. Not really. The majority of my cereal bowls (who were sold as such) are way too big for normal portions. I'm using most of them now for other things incl salads; and some tiny bowls I had and never found very useful are actually the perfect size for cereal or joghurt etc. Just like other things, it "tricks" you into eating more if you're not careful because it looks so empty.
Others mentioned the discovery of bones already and I had that too. The strangest ones for me was discovering how bony my shoulder joints are and especially how bony your face and your forehead in particular gets. I'm still surprised every time I touch my forehead by how hard it is. Oh, and how veiny your hands get. On the upside, I noticed my hair gets greasy way slower now.
Another thing I didn't expect... that your body type or form is actually different than you expect. I used to think I had more of an hourglass figure (not extreme but if clothes were too wide, they were normally too wide around the waist) but that's actually not the case. I have sort of narrow hips... who knew?27 -
My husband picked me up yesterday. That's the first time he's ever even attempted to carry me in 7 years of dating and marriage.54

Nobody tells you that because you are eating at a deficit you have to be careful or you may develop various trace mineral deficiencies over time. ( I've ended up with low iron and a magnesium deficiency.)26

How much your brain plays tricks with how you look. While getting ready for bed this evening I went into the bathroom only wearing a stretchy cami and opaque tights. I looked in the mirror while removing my make up and was admiring how slim I looked, then when cleaning my teeth I looked in the mirror and was disgusted by how fat I looked. Less than 2 minutes apart (and it's not the first time), what is going on in my head??30

Sorry, accidental post.

Re: "Nobody wants to hire fat people". It's an exaggeration, of course, because I myself was hired while fat and have hired fat as well. Still, many long moons ago fat I and a fat coworker happened to be scheduled for sequential job interviews at another company, I'll call it "F". Afterward, the other guy told me that he overheard a manager at "F" saying, "I don't want to hire another fat layout designer". Well, time passes and situations change. I start working as a contractor for "F" tomorrow.16

I'm going to go take my multivitamin now...21 -
That you can lose all your friends. I used to party and drink, and do stupid stuff with my friends. Even my good friends who just played sports I left too. In order for me to lose weight and lead a positive life (which I am! ) I had to get rid of all the negative and unsupportive friends I had. After moving on Ive noticed great changes in my life in my career and personal life. Those friends I had have gotten nowhere but backwards.47

On the calories front I've had the same thing but I also attribute that to my increase of physical fitness in my life and the need for more calories with it.
The vanity sizing is crazy for men too. In my new size I wear anything from a M to XL, I'm a 38.5" hip but I have to buy size 34" pants in many stores... It's crazy.
Discovering muscle definition and bones is still new to me too, I find myself still feeling it and figuring it out.5 -

I started eating my ice cream out of a coffee mug because I was too tempted to overfill a regular sized bowl.28 -

Agree with this, my face is still in the process of changing and it's a very odd experience. I don't look anything like I did. I have to get used to a different face.
Not that I'm complaining as it's far better than it was13 -

I do this too! It is the perfect size for a serving of yogurt with blueberries added too!

People will try to undermine your success to make them feel better. Examples I've had are "Well it's EASY for YOU because you have/don't have............" or my personal favorite "Well, you'll put it all back on in a few weeks" and so on. No one wants to hear "I lost two stone over 2 years", they want to hear "I lost 2 stone in 3 weeks using these shakes/pills/wizard" and when you try to tell them otherwise, they look at you crooked!!
Especially people who are serial dieters and do the fads (I'm guilty of this myself!!).
