Hello all: It is really dark out, I think we may finally get the rain that has been forecast for the last four days. Horses are restless. Talked to my DSis last night and she went skydiving this last week. She had to tell me all about it and how once she got out of the plane door it was wonderful. A little over a year ago she fell off of a ladder and broke one foot and the other ankle. Jumping out of a plane was not recommended but she was determined, crazy little sister. Also talked to my mom who will be coming to visit us in September. In the afternoon we took my DS, his fiance, DGD and her friend out to visit the baby goats. They are eight weeks today and in four more weeks will be able to come home. The goats were a little skittish at first with all the new people but we told the girls to go sit on a bench and they would soon have baby goats in their laps. They were a little skeptical but sat down and sure enough first one baby goat jumped on DGD's lap and then another on Megan's lap. They got a little overwhelmed when the third one jumped up on both of them. The smiles and giggles were priceless.

Food yesterday was off. They had a choir appreciation lunch at church which was hard to log and I was over at the end of the day.

Hello again. I'm still fascinated by all the members of this group, a bit overwhelmed at how many of you there are and all the great comments to read. Thank you so much for the welcoming comments. Here I am posting two days in a row because you are so friendly!
Yes, working with orphaned grizzlies is a fantastic job! They are pretty funny many times. Will share some stories sometime.
Loved the bear pictures, Lenora on the news with the cubs climbing that fence. Bears are amazing when it comes to how many cubs they have. Their birth depends on something called "delayed implantation". Bears usually mate in June and the fertilized eggs just sit and wait. If a mother bear has a summer and fall with lots of food and puts on lots of fat- more eggs will implant and more cubs be born. If she has a summer when food is hard to get- she may have no eggs implant or only 1. So you can tell what kind of eating year it was for bears by how many cubs you see in the spring.
Congrats to all of you who are doing so well with your fitness goals. I'm sticking with the diabetic meal plan but missing my favorite carbs and sugary things- which is just as well since they don't help me and never have!
One of you asked me to tell more about myself. I love forests, the ocean, quiet places, friendly people, walking and bike riding. Love to read. Have ordered those books, thanks Barbie. Love to garden- not into veggie gardening this year for some reason (and they taste so great right from the garden!), but love puttering around with the flowers! Have been married, we were unable to have children even after in-vitro and did not handle it well so ended up divorced. Always wanted children and going through infertility (and divorce) was a tough thing to work through but it's in the past and worked through and life is good. All the tough times make us stronger eventually. (Doesn't hurt that my ex now lives hundreds of miles away, either!) Now I have three great-nieces ages 2, 6, & 8 and 2 great-nephews ages 8 months & just turned 2. They are the loves of my life! So fortunate that they all live close by! Fun times. Two of them I have looked after for long days since they were born before they started school and have so enjoyed my times with those girls! It's been like pseudo-motherhood.

The children have taught me a lot. Moms deserve medals!! Have great day today everyone!

My real name of course is Louise but children have trouble with L's at first so I was DaWeez- then Weezie and it stuck. Bear Lady is what the children in the two communities where I worked called me. (That was pretty funny sometimes. Like the time I was in the grocery store and a little boy yelled out "Look there's ummm... a bear lady!!" A few heads turned rather quickly that I suspect had heard "bare lady" instead of "Bear Lady" ha ha

Louise ~ My middle name is Louise also. There is another Louise here that is called Weezie. My mom was Louise and all of the younger grandchildren called her Weezie. My son kind of started this because he was the first grandchild and called her Grandma Weeze.

Hello, went to the gym this morning: stationary bike, stair master, elliptical and stretching.

Now just waiting for the air to kick on. From way too cold and in normal Canadian fashion; we now have a heat alert. I say our weather is like a menopausal woman!

Will be having veggie burgers with corn on the cob and cabbage.

B.L. Weez - welcome and thank you for that interesting grizzly bear info! Delayed implantation...wow, isn't nature something? You'll find lots of support here, that's for sure.

Becca - thoughts and prayers for your DH's successful surgery this afternoon. He's been through a lot. Glad he's out of surgery OK!!

Sue in WA - good for your sis skydiving! I wouldn't do it... but a person just needs to "fly" now and then. We got over an inch of rain in the past couple days...be glad to send some up your way if it doesn't materialize. Glad it cooled down a bit. We used to raise goats and I remember the fun of being used as a springboard... our place was the hit of the neighborhood for the kids.

DH and I would put lawn chairs out there and watch them for hours.

Pip and Heather - my DH also has trouble keeping weight on. His tummy is always on the verge of upset due to all the medications he takes for his RA, and he often has no appetite. He's 6'1 (or was) and now is in the upper 170's. I wish he'd put on a few pounds just for "insurance"....he doesn't have a lot of reserves if he becomes ill. I, on the other hand, don't have to worry .... keeping enough fat for healthy bones. Don't like it though when he gets within ten pounds of me!

Joyce - I hope Charlie ends up OK with the new kitten....you are right, the little guy has made so much progress in the past couple weeks. The fact that Melody accepted him so quickly was a good sign.

DJ - burning 2000 calories leaving brownies in the oven... well, that's one day! LOL!

Michele - you are doing so well keeping up the exercise! I am always amazed when you report how long you held your planks.

Tere - thank you for sharing your "love story"... happy upcoming anniversary! Glad you were able to get a nice walk in with Blue...love early morning walks!

RE - thanks for popping in. LOVE LOVE LOVE the pictures and your story....so inspirational! Glad things are well in your world.

Carol - how sad for your brother in law; hope he's OK. Maybe this episode will be some incentive to move where he'll have more of a community close by to take care of him.

Ladies, I have some good news regarding the strength training. This morning I had some time to kill so went to the gym to look over their weights and machines and decided to hop on a treadmill for half an hour. I was shocked when I realized I was not holding onto the frame like I normally do and I was walking at a pretty fast clip. My balance has improved that much after only a couple weeks.

The weight machines were pretty full....it's a "Silver Sneakers" gym so always plenty of us old "farts" there. Happy to see seniors taking care of their health. The old gentleman on the treadmill next to me must have been 80, he had that thing going at 1.2 MPH but I was proud of him for chugging along! Getting out and getting some exercise!

Rosie and Sophie are now starting to play together...Sophie is more and more OK with that pup, she knows she's still "top dog" here. The cat does a good job of blocking the hall to the back of the house - keeps Rosie from wandering. Finally she's good for something since she's not really friendly or a "lap kitty" - she was a rescue.

Anyhow, hope everyone is having a good Monday.

• Did okay on my eating yesterday.
• Nice bath. Got in bed by 10:30. Listened to podcast and couldn't get sleepy. Back up at 1am. DM90 also up. I made her a snack - peach pie with ice cream. That's when I had my yogurt. We watched something on TV (The Great British Baking Show) until DM felt drowsy. She likes that show and can follow it easily with her hearing loss.

Monday weigh-in: 290.8. Results of this past week's binging episodes.

MaryRiley: My advice is simple. Log every bite and swallow, and move more. It helps if you enjoy the exercise. My choices are walking my dog, yoga and horseback riding. We have quite a few swimmers, dog walkers and bike riders. :flowerforyou:

Karen in VA: I also eat high fat & high protein with relatively lower carbs. I feel best this way.

Ginger: I'm a fan of the Great British Baking Show, even though I'd never be able to eat anything they prepare. They're all so polite and make the food beautiful to look at!

I have a horse friendly cast on my finger and permission to ride and play with horses all I want. I'm planning to go out to the stable tomorrow and have a good time with Arrow and have made reservations for a cutting horse class on Saturday.

I've been there before. Got sucked back in for a few months until I decided ENOUGH. I started making plans to escape and began looking forward to my life of peacefulness. Rented a small 1 bedroom apartment. Moved in with my suitcase of clothes and slept on the floor. First truly peaceful night I had in years. Slept like a baby.

He tried pulling me back in. Threatened to put my other things on the street. I told him "Go ahead. Do whatever you want with it. I don't care. Money bought it. Money can replace it." He took what he wanted and left the rest. I had already taken a detailed inventory with pictures before I left - and we had somewhat agreed on what each would take in an earlier divorce talk. But... I was totally prepared to walk away with the clothes in my suitcase. As part of my escape plan - I had been on a vacation trip with my mother and an aunt. We planned to be gone 2 weeks - but came home earlier and I stayed with my aunt. Didn't tell him for a few days - then made an excuse to not come home - catch up laundry. Then just never went home. And cut off communication with him. He called my boss at 5:30am and told her everything I ever told him about her. It was all true and not unusual for a wife to share with her husband. She got past it - but it was his ploy to get me to call him. I called him. He said "well at least now we're talking". Then his doorbell rang and he excused himself to answer it. I listened as he answered the door, as he spoke to the visitor and told them bye, ad he shut the door.., then as he went to his refrigerator and made himself a drink. The ice clinking the glass, the beverage pouring. He finally picked up the phone. And I hung up without saying a word. That was my last communication with him until I ran into him at a store - startled face-to-face - i said hello to him and my beautiful ex-stepson and quickly left before he could speak.

A few months later - at Christmas - he broke into my apartment through a bedroom window when I was away with family. Nothing was stolen. I know it was him. I had pictures made of myself to give to family. They were on my desk in my bedroom. He ripped them in half and left them there. The power cord to my VCR was pulled out and laying in the floor. (He wanted the VCR in the divorce - I told he could have it - if he paid off the credit card bill for it. But... he didn't want to do that. So I kept it.)

People show us who they are - believe them. About 3 years later I met my Dan. We've been together for 30+ years. He carries one of those ripped photos (taped together) in his wallet.

I did get to see my step son a few times afterwards in his later teen years - where he worked in a restaurant. He met my husband. And I spoke to him for the first time in many years - on Dec 26th. His father passed away from bladder cancer.

Leaving my stepson was my one hard part. And I truly loved my in-laws. They were good people. But... I chose to take care of me. I got away from an abusive relationship. I went back to college. I lost weight. I traveled some. I dated some. I excelled at my job. I took control of my life.

Geez! Not sure I should post this. I really just wanted to give you support - but I think it turned into a therapy session for myself.

I wrote a post to you last night but it evaporated into cyberspace when I posted it. You mentioned "BONES everywhere". Reminded me of a time when I was about age 20 and dropped from 172 to 125. I told my mother my hip bones hurt. They were sore. Mom said "oh! There's nothing wrong with you. You've simply discovered those bones you haven't seen before and you've kept rubbing them subconsciously until you've become sore." She was right. But... my favorite part of losing that weight was being able to cross my legs with one knee over the other.

I still weigh less than my husband, but there have been periods of time where it was awfully close! For some reason it has always been important for me to be smaller than him ...

Ginger ... you are a survivor!

Well the job fell through for my younger son, but, as luck would have it, my older son has a shortage of staff for the next 6-8 weeks. So younger son is working for his older brother as a personal care aide. He'll be paid through the agency that provides aides to my older son. He really had a hard time finding work. Younger son is also going to spend the rest of his time helping his dad and I finally get this yard more manageable. This is normal, I know, for your children to help ... but we're asking him to really step outside of his comfort and ability zone. He won't be paid, but he wants to "repay" us for taking care of his tuition.

My husband is having continuing and worsening problems with his legs. There is permanent nerve damage/loss in the one foot and now he is having problems with his one leg just "leaving him." Going completely numb. Another MRI is being ordered.

Hi everyone,

I'm back from the weekend - I did not walk as much as I hoped to do, but back at it today. I did log my food and had some extras, but nothing like it would have been without some future planning. My weight is up a little, but my moving average is good, so not stressing. Just back to my regular life at home and taking care of myself. I did get to the store to get a few things that make it easier to make the better choices.

Lenora, Your hair looks great! I loved Hidden Figures and Sully, too! I also loved Lion. Several people I know did not want to see it because they do not like Nicole Kidman, however, she has a very small role in the movie (at least in my opinion). The rest of the movie is fantastic and I still think about it sometimes. It is a true story.

The posts from the weekend were full of lots of ups and downs and I enjoyed seeing how everyone was doing. You sure can tell that this group has been going for awhile.

Allie – Crocodile tears and being all gushy … What a Tomcat! Howling and Yowling because he isn't getting his way. Well, ... too bad, so sad, you're too late ... deal with it. You know him better than any of us, but, why put you through that again. I thought the last time this subject came up you were willing to ‘try again’ and things only got worse. Go to the attorney and tell him ‘to do whatever to set it into motion’ … find out when he is going to be served and conveniently be ‘away so that if he goes ballistic, you won’t have to call the police/sheriff'. You really don't want for him to have to go through hiring an attorney to represent him in a domestic case. But, you can have him 'temporarily' put out, while y'all work through a settlement agreement.

Ginger – The one thing I wanted most to do was to be able to cross my legs; but, I have gotten so use to only crossing my ankles, that it feels strange to cross legs knee-over-knee.

Becca – {{{{{HUGS}}}}} to you and DH. I know you are happy the procedure is over and he seems to be sleeping it off.

I have a question … Do any of you grow orchids? One reason I am asking is that I have one that won’t ‘open’ fully and I don’t know whether it is because of the type it is; which I don’t know. It has bunches of blooms, that are fat and look like upside-down tulips bulbs before they pop open. It is white with a lot of deep maroon/purple splotches on it. The blooms are ‘not’ spent; they are firm, none have fallen off.

When I get down to 145lb – I can feel my hip bones. But, I don’t remember them ever hurting, I was in the hospital getting over being “Lithium Toxic” and I don’t remember 3 weeks in the ICU other than Louis telling me that I was constantly having seizures, which he still can watch any medical TV show where someone is having seizures; but, he can calm me down when I have one in front of him. Today, I have had the urge to eat any kind of ‘nuts’ we have in the house. I know they contain a lot of ‘fat’; but, also protein. Tomorrow AM, I go for my weigh-in. I haven’t gone over too much this past 2 week insofar as CI; and, I have worked my CO enough to make up for it (I guess I am eating my calories back). Even though I don’t count them.

DDnL#1 is ‘supposed’ to have an interview for another job. The pay is higher; but, she needs to find out it they ‘pay’ for health insurance and if it covers the entire family. I think both DOS and she are much better off after they have filed for bankruptcy, took a load off their shoulders, so I hope they have ‘learned’ something from this. Apparently, they’ve been in touch with the bank, who asked if there was anything wrong with the van; Trey told them ‘it was drivable and no damage to it’. I guess they wanted to know if they needed to send a wrecker or just a 2nd driver. Or if they will just tell him to bring it in and turn in the keys. We all went out to eat and stopped at Wal-Mart for them to pick up a couple of things. It was taking them a lot longer than it should and I just could not wait. Louis and I had been sitting in the car; when I got back the door was locked. Trey finally opened it and they were all laughing. I told Trey that I was going to get his Dad to move it and then we’d stand in the parking slot and tell them that the bank had picked it up. He was laughing and said they had also thought about moving it. At least his senses of humor has come back. Trey has still not made any moves towards finding permanent employment. I laughed and told him he had a birthday coming up this weekend (16th) and he said, ‘no, I am not getting any older’. Good, that means neither will I.

Louise in Vegas – Lion is one of the movies on our list to get. I don’t know when we’ll be getting it; but, I really enjoy movies that are based on ‘true events’. Thanks for the compliment on my hair. I have enjoyed it so much and I’m happy that I have a hairdresser that knows how to cut it like Tami’s co-worker. I really did not much care for Nichole Kidman until she married Keith Urban; she started acting a little less ‘stuck-up’ IMHO.

OK - So we do have at least 2 Louise’s … one in Vegas and the Bear Lady? Is that correct?
