Machka: I just checked my dictionary and found nothing objectionable about t o r r e n t. Do you suppose they are a bit overzealous or have they mixed it up with torrid? Which is still acceptable in my view. I'm complaining to MFP. :grumble:
Gloria: Sorry about the loss of your mom. (((HUGS)))
Lisa: You certainly have many talents!
Jenn from Vancouver Island, BC: Welcome! I love Vancouver Island. Victoria and Nanaimo are two favorite places, along with Ladysmith and Chemainus.
I have nothing on my todo list today but I should do some housecleaning. There are a few dog hair dustbunnies drifting around on the floor. I hope the spring shedding season comes to an end soon.
I had a great time at my cutting horse class yesterday. I was the only student over 40. The teacher kept my sessions at a walk. I told him that I'd like to do some at a trot next time.

Hi everyone! I just want to check in and say hi. We are out of town again this weekend and I am doing much better than last weekend. I am noticing that I am eating less without thinking so much about when can I eat again and how much!! Hopefully, I will be able to read some posts later.

Machka- Wow! Your hike! Wondering if it is a trail hike or a road hike? Either way, it is a good distance!
Trail ... hard packed dirt trail with some rocky bits here and there, and it was a bit snowy here and there near the top.

Wow! Was that a guy on page 39?? Um we need to spray me thinks, or use a
smudge stick! Banish thee!
Today I thought about my father. All wonderful thoughts. He was a great guy, and handled having three emotional daughters in stride!

Call me crazy but I love to see other people happy and succeeding .
Good Afternoon Ladies,
Pip. Congrats on the run well done. Even when you don’t care you are just still Number 1. Love all the pictures.
Katla, that’s nice that you don’t have to have anything larger on your finger. You didn’t tell us it was your shootin’ finger. Lol
Heather, the picnic looks like such fun. The cups and saucers are just beautiful. (later) Your garden dinner sounds wonderful. Glad it was such a nice day out there.
Carol, I think we had about 20 at Bonefish the other night. They often host groups that large so it shouldn’t have been a problem.
Re, so good to have you back. You were certainly missed.
Chris, the pics of the ships were so cool. Thanks for sharing. That must have been a fun day.
Becca, how nice of Prudence and glad you used the money wisely.
I hope all the fathers in your lives are having a wonderful day. I made DH a wonderful omelet for brunch this morning. DD got him a card and a book. She finds these books about America or politics and things that are of interest to him but the truth is, he’s not a reader. He spends at least a couple of hours a day reading on the internet but will mostly skim stories unless it’s really interesting. She will cook dinner for her day and I get to enjoy it too.
to all the Newbies. Come often and join in the chat. This thing works!! Please sign your post with what you want to be called. It makes it easier for us to respond to you. Also a location is great, be it specific or general. We are happy to have you join us.
Sending love, good thoughts and sunshine to all of you.
I Love you

finally home.. - don't have all the stats on the run's website yet.
someone asked how much I loose on a run or if I carb up the nite b4 a run. I loose about 2 lbs average on a good workout day, run or just good workout. that is all water I'm sure. no I don't carb up the night before, for 6 mi, no need. for a 1/2 or full marathon, I will carb up the whole week before, it's different kind of preparation for that long of a run. you don't want to eat anything different or experiment before the run, that's where you will get a stomach ache, cramps or even worse, "runners trots".
I type fast an don't need to look at the keyboard to type but I still don't type "war and peace" either, lolol.
I was really excited for Kirby and was glad he placed first. there was a lady that was running with us and I wasn't sure if she was in my age group or not (50-59) so I kept thinking, if I want to place I have to keep up with her or beat her. at the last mile I picked up my pace and I thought if she has a kick I don't know how good it is, so I better hit it. on the straight away towards the finish, I poured it on and left her and Kirby behind. on our strata app, I did 9.01 minute mi and Kirby did 9.03. turns out she was in the age group before me, she got 1st in her age group4 -
Kelly, My fairly small front yard has a section of ugly large gravel rocks with no weed barrier under them so every spring there are a million tiny weeds to pull. I am scooping them up,straining them through a screen and putting the bigger pieces that stay on top of the screen in some places that need more rocks like that. When I have cleared the whole section, I'll put down two layers of weed cloth and have a load of bigger nicer rocks delivered and I'll spread them over the weed cloth. I am also spreading 16 bags of brown mulch over the dirt covered areas of the front and side yards I admire your consistency on your challenges. One time I did 100 squats a day for 100 days but not along with all the other stuff you're doing

Hello everybody!
Happy Father's Day to all the fathers in your families. I am my missing mine today. I was the only girl out of 5 children, so we had a special bond. We lost him in 2013 to cancer.
Janet and Michelle - so sorry for your family losses and ill health.
Pip - congratulations on the wins.
Lisa - Love your art work.
I have truly enjoyed all of the pictures of events and places I will probably never see in person.
Summer has arrived in Texas. It hasn't been hit a 100 yet, but has been in the mid to high 90's this week. I don't know how people who work outdoors make it through the summers.
The insects will be bad this year because of the mild winters the last 2 years. Calling an exterminator is on the to do list for tomorrow for yard treatment. My poor Angel is allergic to flea bites and the monthly treatment is not preventing them for a full 30 days. Whatever chemicals are used need to be pet friendly.
Last Saturday I joined a gym. It will get me out of the house several times a week once I am retired and help me stay on target with my fitness goals. I have an orientation meeting tomorrow with a personal trainer and plan on asking about proper form for squats, deadlifts etc. I did go and workout yesterday on the stair climber. After the workout I went by a re-sale shop in the area and found several pairs jeans.
I have been on track with my food plan and dropped into a new decade weight this morning - 119.6. It will bounce back up and down but at least for today, it is in the teens. My body fat percentage is 30-31% and I would like to get in the 25% range.
Stay cool and have a good week!

Happy Father’s Day Pals!
My weekend has been a little tense. DH and I had one of our very infrequent misunderstandings. So we were not speaking until we got to church. I guess we both needed a good sermon so the fight is over. I didn’t do too bad eating – thank God. I remember one time that some fast food and junk would have been my friend at the slighest upset.
Felicia: Stomach grumbling actually does not come from being hungry. It is produced by movement of the contents of the gastro-intestinal tract as they are propelled through the small intestine by a series of muscle contractions called peristalsis. Once I understood this I was able to adjust grumbling/growling from being a trigger for me to eat food. I have read before that if you eat the right things you won’t be hungry. I don’t know about that. What I think is that you have to find what works for you. I am a muncher and find that having carrot sticks and other munchie things (low calories) on hand satisfies me.
Pip: I love pictures of the babies in the Furry 5K.
Lisa: Egg is so cute! I am allergic the cats but if I could have one I would have two.
Connie: Welcome!
Becca: Love the elk picture!

Good morning all.
Just joined this group yesterday but so enjoy reading all your posts - so interesting!
I had a great day yesterday, for the first time in a long time I finally logged everything I ate and felt great!
Didn't get in any excercise yesterday but it's a soggy morning so I'll put on a walking tape and get something done.
Also planning on starting to clean out my pantry as I want to put new liner on the shelves and this seems to be the perfect day for it.
I would usually bake on a day like today but not this time!
Have a wonderful Sunday.
Jenn from Vancouver Island, BC Canada
Jenn Welcome fellow newbie! We don't live far away from each other- just across the water. Just back from 12 days on Pender Island- what a paradise. Went to Victoria one day but during rush hour. Yikes, how Victoria has grown! This weather is so cold and rainy and certainly doesn't inspire getting out there, does it? Have to push myself out the door. My sister and husband are in Palm Springs where it is 48C!! And here we are at 14C! Yesterday I cleaned my pantry all out and threw away anything that was not on the "plan" for me. Great minds think alike? It looks so organized now and contains only healthy items.
Ladies, I hit 10 lbs lost this week and am happy. Lots more to go and determined to get there. Have a great Father's Day!

Happy Father's day to my husband, Jack. Truly a "Jack of all Trades". Not only can he build or repair anything mechanical, electrical, structural or otherwise. He can bake. He watched Martha Stewart bake these a few weeks ago so Thursday morning he made cheddar cheese bread. I think I'll keep him

Happy Father's Day to all our dads!
My dad passed away in 2006 and is buried at Ft. Sam Houston Natl Cemetery in San Antonio, Texas. He was sick for many years from Supra nuclear palsy. The doctors diagnosed him to have Parkinson's but at the year before his passing they changed their diagnosis.
Church was very nice today with 7 visiting churches from Tennessee, Kentucky and Mississippi. The church was full up!! Even the balconies were full!
I have to get on board again; I feel my diet has taken a dive even though my calorie intake has been good. Just the choices and eating out all weekend made me feel that way. Culprits: cheese, bread and beer!
KJ Kelly Yes, there are different kinds of BBQ. Kansas City BBQ is a little different too. You have to know what order too. In KCMO you order sliced beef. In Texas you order Brisket and you get brisket cooked overnight in the pit (BBQ) the sauces are all different too.
Picture of brisket at Pok-e-Joe's in Austin:
Someone was saying Texas was dry, well there is a lot of lakes, rivers and creeks.
Austin sit on the edge of the Colorado River (Ladybird Lake in town). There is a neat grotto near Austin called Hamilton Pool. A boy discovered it in the late 1800's on ranch land. It is really beautiful and you can swim there. You can see people sitting under the ledge to give you an idea how large it is.
Lisa I love your paintings! You should be proud to have them up for sale!
Becca neat picture of the Elk!
Have a good evening all! And have a productive week in your endeavors!

The reason most people fail instead of succeed is that they trade what they want the MOST for what they want at the MOMENT.
Stats for today:
18,000 steps
180 minutes walking Sasha and Bessie
140 minutes riding the exercise bike (and watching the US Open Golf Championship with Jake to celebrate Fathers' Day)
78 minutes working on my rock project in the front yard

Katla – Oh, that stuff! Looks like an oversized thimble; but, it takes 2 people to unwrap it and by the time you get it, it is coming off your finger and digging in like it doesn’t want to go anywhere. Sticky and stretchy.
Allie – I agree, that would be priceless in court; but, having it as ‘ammunition’ is also good, because your attorney can tell his attorney that she can present pictures of them when he had told you a bald-faced lie. TomCat really must think he is pulling the wool over your eyes. I don’t know how some men (and some women) can or do seem to think they can ‘pull if off’. Well, take that comment back – either they don’t care or they know they have their spouses over a barrel. You just need to show him that you’ve turned that barrel on its side and it is ‘rolling downhill fast’. Karma would have a ‘ball with this’. I had a friend in HS (for one year; I was the one-girl welcoming committee) and she stuck to me like 'glue'. My Mother said that 'Maria would NOT know the truth if it came up and slapped her in the face'. When she made a date with 2 boys on the same night, while spending the night with me, and left with the 1st one that showed up. I 'got' restricted for it. Thankfully, they left town 'under cover of dark' the following summer. I pretty well know why, too.
Lisa – Very good artwork. Tami, DDnL#2 would love the peacock; and, Mallory would love the sunflowers.
Kelly – When I log it as ‘walking the dog’ for an hour, MFP shows that I burn less calories than if I spend 15 minutes on the treadmill. Maybe I need to put a bit of a faster clip to my outside walking because Cracker has to run to keep up with me and she has legs like a Rat Terrier. Of course, she runs after birds and things and then runs back to me. But, I do walk fast enough to ‘break a sweat’. Hopefully, I will find that I am wrong.
Pip – “Yeah, here we go again, a few days at the beach and ‘Mama Pip’ is going to turn it into a ‘working weekend’.” OR is that “Damn, we’re tired!”
“War and Peace” was a ‘required read’ in HS; not here. You can always skim over my posts, if you want to. LOL!
Janetr – I’d say he is a ‘keeper’ too! Have not unpacked my ‘pressure cooker’. Trey said he is going to get one with the $$$ that Louis and I are giving him for his birthday (6/16). I had told him that I wanted to ‘see’ what he used the money for, it was NOT to pay bills with. Will and Tami love theirs. I bought mine at K-Mart. It’s a PressurePro, 4 Quart. I did not check other places and I would rather have my teeth pulled with pliers and no deadening stuff than to shop at Wal-Mart. Has a small cookbook with it; but, I am going to go to BAM and see what they have. I will have to use it within the next 10 days.

I got lots done this weekend, besides laundry and cleaning the house, I cleaned the oven and the fridge out. Pulled the weeds in my flower bed and got all my paperwork done. Good weekend.
hugs ladies. Take care of yourselves.

Did an hour of training games on the Wii today. Since we need to leave tomorrow, the plan is just to do an extreme strength DVD at home.
Packed last night. I need to take ice tea and the lettuce ribs to the gal who is going to host Rummikub for me. She's also the gal whose house we go to to play mahjongg on Mon nights. Looks like we need to clean out the Outlook since that's the vehicle we'll be taking. Might very well have to take others with us to the service.
NYKaren - say "hi" to Rori for me. You two have a great time and be sure to post pics. You're growing, that's for sure.
Lisa - beautiful pics
KJ - BBQ is different. Like I'm used to what they refer to as "eastern NC BBQ" which doesn't have vinegar in it. The first time I tasted BBQ around here, I almost choked. I wasn't used to it with vinegar in it. But if someone has grown up with vinegar in their BBQ sauce, to them it's wonderful.
Had to run give the ice tea and lettuce leaves to the gal who will host Rummikub then stopped at another friend's. She's moving to Charlotte and she had some things for me. She was going to come by here but since I was going to be in the area, I just stopped over there. We cleaned the blanket in the Outlook in case we need to transport people tomorrow, then I went in my pool. Now going to be having dinner
Lanette - you don't need to tell me about drum sets!!! We built a detached 2 car garage, there really is one vehicle in one part. The other part is Vince's music studio with his synthesizer, drum setS and stuff I can't even tell you what it is.
Hey Jenn from Vancouver! Stop in lots. We love new people. And you, too, Connie
Gave Vince his BIG father's day gift...a scotch tape dispenser. That' what he wanted because he's always borrowing mine.
DJ - we've had restaurants who say that large groups aren't a problem....but they really can't handle them.
I'm lucky in that I don't look at the keyboard, too. On this keyboard some things are reversed. Like the "(" is below the number "9", yet you still have to shift to get it.
Congrats on the great losses everyone.
Need to go back my food to take with me.

I am not having the best day. I forgot it was Father's Day & didn't even get DH a card. He asked for tuna casserole for dinner and I didn't get that done, either. He's sad and so am I.
Katla the sad, embarrassed, & mad at myself5 -
Oh, Katla, sorry you had that kind of day. I know that feeling, I've done it sometimes too I think we all have them. So sorry, try not to be too hard on yourself. (((Hugs)))

It has to do with T-O-R (without the dashes) which is sort of like a VPN but moreso and can hide criminal activity. I did a research paper on it in my last IT class. T-O-R can be harmless and even beneficial in some cases, but sites like this get nervous about it because of the underlying criminal possibilities.

Me with my poutine. The white flecks on me are actually feathers from my down jacket. We are sitting on top of Whistlers Mountain overlooking Jasper ... and we are about to set off on a very steep hike to the summit, so the poutine is fuel.
