Beth DH knows what he is talking about, I say take the compliment and bank it for a rainy day.

Kelly I would charge parent's time and a half for those early dropoffs or late pickups for that matter1

Supposed to have a tornado heading our way this afternoon, more likely torrential thunderstorms, so I will be driving DD back and forth to work today.

Food planning going well, gonna get myself to the gym in between errands this afternoon.

Hello All: Went to the YM this morning and got my exercise done. I have been doing well with food today. I see the doctor tomorrow morning and am hoping to get off of the trazodone. It is making me dizzy, gives me a headache, leaves me groggy for most of the day and makes me moody. I wanted to cry today in the middle of yoga class and I have no idea why other than that medication.

Pip - Congratulations to you and KIrby.

Lisa - Hope all of your paintings sold.

Ginger - I loved that sign except that would definitely not waste my money on Twinkies.

Meg - Glad you and yours are safe. It is sad to lose a large tree though.

Everyone take care, Sue in WA

Becca - I think the gals are right, it's been up to the moms to orchestrate holidays. And it's not like it used to be. I used to get my feelings hurt because DH (and other family members) didn't even think to send a card/email/thank you for holidays and gifts sent. (None of them live close by) I guess it's just not important to them so I've pretty much stopped doing it.

Luckily, I have friends and loved ones near that fill the gap.

You should be a child psychologist, lol. Your explanation to your son about the importance of writing a few words to his dad was very good. Are your other sons good about calling when they can? I don't think guys "get it" as a general rule. And once Owain is away from home, I bet he'll miss mom & dad and be more attentive.

And your explanation to your son about pornography not for his age bracket... :D I don't know how else a person could handle it without threats. He's such a smart kid and reasoning was probably your best chance.

Oh, by the way....I used the insurance money from the diet wagon to buy Little Debbies. >:)

    Hey Ladies….

Catching up with your posts today. My DH is awfully big on Mothers Day and I try to reciprocate on Father’s Day. So I took him out to breakfast and let him make the menu for dinner. Usually I get him a card but just didn’t this year (we were in the middle of our misunderstanding). He was happy. I am not bothered doing this for him because he has been an awesome Dad, despite many obstacles and the children and grandchildren came by or called to tell him so. This was my kids first Fathers Day without their Dad being alive and he really stepped up to the plate for them. This was also his first Fathers Day without his father being alive so he had a little grieving going on. His family always had a gathering for Father’s Day which usually meant 30-50 or so children, grandchildren, and great grandchildren taking over a restaurant for a meal together. My family is much smaller but our parents always made is a point to celebrate each other on these days too. Nothing elaborate just lots of concentrated love. <3

Carol: I too am not feeling energetic enough to host family gatherings anymore so it is either pot luck, at one of the children’s homes, catered, or a restaurant. I don’t mind contributing a dish or two or three, but all the cleaning and cooking before hand and the cleaning up afterwards is just draining now. :s

Allie: I agree with Dana….its over don’t waste money or energy unless your attorney thinks it will benefit you somehow. As for Tom being brazen….what the heck…he has to try to maneuver the next mark into place. >:)

Well Lanette, all three sons have rec'd a planner the Christmas before they've gone into the Navy. We fill out the addresses, the families birthday's, and generally make it impossible for them to flake out on remembering! My eldest son isn't great on remembering, but he's floating on a carrier in the Big Blue so that's an excuse if ever I heard one. The middle son is currently out of the Navy and is waiting for his wife to get out in November. Not only does he remember, but he sends $200 periodically just because! He's my Mr. Mom, always mindful of others. My youngest son told me ( this was awhile ago during the difficult years), that watching porn relaxed him. Maybe it was a mindless task to do that helped him mentally remove himself from the situation he was in, I don't know.

I would use MY insurance money for those Cadbury Eggs! Though I haven't eaten ones for years every Easter my mouth waters when I see the piles of them at the store!!!!

Call me crazy but I love to see other people happy and succeeding .

    Good Evening my dear Friends,

I read most of the posts earlier today. I just got home from the Moose meeting and my computer had rebooted. For some reason it didn't save what I had typed in my word document so no responses to anyone. I'm too tired to even try to remember so I'm heading to bed. Just know I love reading about what is going on in your lives. I root for you in your challenges, congratulate your victories and share sadness for your troubles.

Friday I called Windows World AGAIN, finally got told that the installer had told her (secretary) that 'we were going to come pick the wood strips up (in Tifton) about 70 miles or so from where we live'. I told the young lady who had apologized for forgetting to call me back on Thursday that I did not know what this man was ‘smoking or drinking’ but there was NEVER a conversation with anybody that we’d drop our daily routine and drive 70+ miles one way to pick up the stops so we can stain them before they come back and replace them. I told her that ‘they’ were going to deliver them to us, Louis is going to stain them, and unlike what I had been told when we signed the contract for the windows, Mr. Hanks better have his @$$ here to 'supervise the installation (or re-installation) of the windows' as he told us he would when we signed the contract. He has NOT been back since. I told her that one of the things Louis and I were so unhappy about what the way the stops were put in. I told her that if Jamey had EVER come out here to see how they were done, he would have agreed that it was a shoddy job. They really need to have a carpenter that knows ‘how to cut mitered corners’. My 16-year-old could have done a better job at it. At least she would have known it should have been done better.

Allie – RITFLMAO!!!!! But, I think hiring a PI would be a waste of $$$ unless your attorney agrees with it. They’re known to drag it out when all that would be needed is a time-stamped photograph of them putting luggage into the car or something like that. Don’t get down on TomCat’s level. One thing you do not want to do is look the least bit ‘greedy’ because of wanting ‘revenge’. It will only ‘tear you up inside’. TomCat doesn’t care. Let the evidence you already have, drive the proof you have to this point. What you don’t have can be gotten by your attorney during the ‘discovery phase’; or threat to take it to court. You know what buttons that get to him. So, let that be your ‘throwback’ to go to; but, let it go 'through your attorney'. Giving him ‘just enough’ information that he ‘thinks’ you ‘don’t know’ when you really do. A surprise attack is how you want to handle it. Stay cool, don’t get mad or upset. Act like nothing is going on, act like it is no big deal that he is going off “with the guys” or whatever lie he has told you. Under oath; they wouldn’t be able to ‘lie’ about things, if it goes that far; but, I doubt that it will. The attorney would be asking 'them' (friends) questions and reminding them that 'perjury' carries some 'bad consequences'.

Lanette – I just started lifting weights (for strength exercise). Two days with one in-between. I have found muscles that I never knew I had. And I did not do that many reps. My shoulders are 'killing' me tonight.

Katla – On Steve Harvey’s “Little Big Shots” show on Sunday they had this precious little girl, maybe about 4-years-old who had REFUSED to tell her Granddaddy “Happy Father’s Day” (because, as Becca points out, he was NOT her Father). They had shown a clip of it and he was talking to her about it, telling her it was just an ‘expression’ of words, all people did it. She got very indignant with him and ‘explained’ to him ‘why’ she would 'not do it'. They had flown her Granddaddy in and brought him out on stage, sure enough, she was not about to say “Happy Father’s Day” to him. Steve finally said, ‘ok, ALL of us are going to stand up and wish others “Happy Father’s Day” whether they are our Fathers (or Fathers) anyway. She ‘finally’ conceded; but, you could tell she was NOT at all happy about it.

Meg – Not very happy with the LSU and OSU game tonight. We’re actually pulling for FLORIDA, I think they play tomorrow night. How I wish that Will had gone out for baseball his senior year in HS. I really think that he could have possibly gotten a scholarship; but he and his HS coach just butted heads all the time. His Dixie League coach had been Ray Knight and he told him, as the catcher, ‘the field is yours to watch’ … need to know where everybody is, whether they are paying attention to the runners and if they know who is actually going to be throwing the ball where and when. About the only thing that Ray ever fussed at him about was that he wanted to bat left-handed (he is left-eyed dominant) and one game he made 3 homeruns batting left-handed so he just stopped trying to change him. It took a while to teach him how to shoot a gun without leaning his head over it. But, now he shoots it right-handed and no longer leans over the top of it. I never think I could get used to shooting a rifle because the shell would eject in front of me. I can shoot a pistol ok.

Well OSU just stomped the "Hell-O Kitty" out of LSU. Guy just hit the first ever grand slam in that stadium. 8-0; they might as well call it a night. We’re watching the Ninja Warriors.

Becca – If your son doesn’t get ‘on the program’ of having someone telling him ‘what to do when they want it done', he is going to find the service will give him "HELL-O Kitty" about that. I'm surprised with a family of Navy guys, he would have noticed that. Maybe he has, boys are a lot different when dealing with the Moms than if they are dealing with their Dads. I was always surprised at how our boys would talk to me about things that I really thought they would have been more comfortable talking it over with their Dad.

Pip – With that amount of ‘exercise’ you could eat a large, everything pizza a day … you do so much on a normal day just getting back and forth to work. I know I was a lot more active when I worked. Went with my boss to the “Y” every day. We’d play ‘racquetball’ and eat lunch there.

When the 3 sisters get together at the beach, we do a LOT of walking so we can ‘eat’ what we want to.

DYS’s ‘daughter’ made him a ‘Happy Step-Dad’s Day’ card last year. It was so cute! I don’t know what, if anything, they did this year. I think she might have gone to the beach with her ‘real’ Dad. She had just gotten home from a week at cheer camp. But, she sure does love DYS!

Today, I did something I swore I would not do again, attempted to contact my DH’s daughter (this time through her husband) to see if maybe ‘he’ could convince Sherry into sending us pictures of DH growing up. If that doesn’t work; then, I won’t ever contact them for any reason. We liked her DH when they married; but, as soon as my DH’s mother died, she made it ‘crystal clear’ that ‘if we ever needed anything else, we could contact the funeral home’. Translation: "Don't want to be bothered with you as the point had been made that she had been a bit on the greedy side." I’ve got just a handful of pictures of Louis growing up. I’d like to have them so that either I or our boys could make a collage of him growing up if he passes before I do. Also put in the email that I really wanted the picture I painted for my DMnL sent so that I could actually sign my name to MY piece of artwork. But, I know that isn’t going to happen. Probably not even the pictures; but, if she says she just threw them away – I won’t even ask why she did not send them to us instead. We’ll go on pretending that after everything concerning the funeral … they got transferred overseas with no reason to ever come back state-side.

Mother's Day and Father's Day and a handful of other days (Valentine's Day, St Patrick's Day, Halloween, etc.) are not really holidays. They are observances. In other words, while we might choose to celebrate the day if we want, we don't get the day off like we would for a holiday.

    https://www.timeanddate.com/holidays/australia/

Anyway, we celebrate observances to a very minor degree. I'll send cards some of the time, or maybe just mention it on Facebook ... but that's about it. I don't like feeling forced to say sentimental things to loved ones on one day of the year ... I'd rather tell them how I feel when the mood strikes throughout the year. :)

Heather: DH heard from both of our kids on father's day. I have mixed feelings about not getting him a card or any little thing, but today is a new day and we're happy together. My fuchsia's love morning sun & prefer afternoon shade. They do okay as long as they get plenty of water. They are all located on the north side of the house. :drinker:

Lanette: We have also had a lovely few days. Today was ideal, sunny and warm but not too hot.

Becca: Thanks for the encouraging words. They do make me feel better and you are absolutely right. DH got calls from both of our children. :flowerforyou: I can relate to your feelings about holidays, but I wish I had done a little something for DH on Father's day. Life is fine today & no one is mad. YAY!!!

Felicia: I agree that holidays are important. DH heard from both of our kids, but I was lagging. He is not mad today, nor does he seem to have hurt feelings. Thank goodness.

Meg: I'm so sorry about your broken tree but happy to know you are safe.

Beth: What a lovely compliment from your DH! :flowerforyou:

Sue: I hope your doctor is able to let you stop taking trazodone, since it is making you feel dizzy and headachy. In my untrained opinion, medications should not make a person feel worse. :noway:

Allie: No advice, just supportive thoughts for you. :flowerforyou:

The freezer section of our refrigerator has been repaired! Yay! The problem was dog hair dustbunnies interfering with air flow. :embarassed: We'll move it away from the wall and vacuum more often.

We really don't celebrate Father's Day or Mother's Day. My DH goes on a fishing trip with his buddies every year for Father's day (this was the 30th year they have done this)- they leave Friday morning and usually come home on Sunday afternoon. The plan this year was to go fishing on Sunday morning then spend the afternoon together and come home on Monday, however, Sunday morning as some of them were leaving to get in the fishing, one of the guys dropped dead in the boat. They are all pretty shaken up and came home on Sunday afternoon. DH has been very quiet and very emotional today. He doesn't want to talk about it, so leaving it alone for now. Will see how things go for the rest of the week.

Hugs everyone. Take care of yourselves.

Well it's almost tomorrow! I signed the contract today for the landscaping. Charlie was only going to consent to doing the front yard. He didn't want to get under a certain amount in our checking and savings accounts. So I reminded him what is it presently and how much is replenished every month so he agreed!!!!!!!!! So it will start next month. I guess we will be sitting in our front porch and doing some watering in the evening. The backyard I gues we will have to stand. The front is in the shade more so it will be easier. I think I said yesterday that we had seen a plant at Walmart last night that was really pretty. I called them today to see if anyone from the lawn and garden department could tell us what it was. Well thelawn And garden dept is on the opposite end of the store where they had this display. And they refused to go out of the dept and go outside and look.
Well we forgot butter and Charlie needed new sunglasses so we took a little drive and look for ourselves. The landscaper told me to take a picture and send it to him. Well in a little tiny label with bar code it showed the name. So I took pictures and told him that it was a coleus plant. I haven't looked up how easy it is to manage this plant. He had tried to make sure everything was low upkeep for us. But this plant was so colorful plus the big thing was that Charlie liked it. So I hope it can be incorporated. When we had the tree cut down 2 years ago, I kept two cuttings and I am going to have them sealed and the landscaper will incorporate them somehow. I can't wait until all of this becomes mature and my yard looks decent. It is so ugly right now. But I can also stop using my weed killer and pulling weeds now as he will remove 'all vegetation'. I guess that's a fancy name for weed.

When Mom was al e, she would make sure all of us knew when a siblings birthday was coming up so we could call them.mthen she would call us later on to make sure we did it. Of course what she really wanted was all the news we got. It's funny, I know one brother and sister both have birthdays in September. Norma's comes first and it's fairly early. But I can't remember what day for ever one of them. My other brother I know the exact date because it's in Movemner all by its self. I don't know what I would do without Face Book reminding me. Also my Dads and Charlies are just days apart in July. Others get them mixed up as to the dates but since he is my husband, I always know. I know my own kids birthday but not he grand kids. One is in August and the other November. We celebrate Trinityies along with ChArlies and Ellie's when they are down for Thanksgiving. But I don't know the exact date. Now Charlie knows his siblings, aunts, uncles, grandparents and great grand parents. And his Mom was the oldest of 12 kids so he had a lot to remember. As for Father's And Mothers Day, as a family here in Evansville, the ones here all get together and have a meal. No cards are given, just big hugs. Dad always hand picked wonderful me sing Mothers Day cards for Mom and each of us girls once we became a Mom.mtheybwere always so meaningful to us. OH now I wish I could have just one hour with them again.

Lisa, minhope you are enjoying your kittens antics as much as I am mine. He will take her little cheap stuffed mouse, carry it in his mouth, drop it at the top of the stairs and then give it a push with his paws.mit goes all the way. Down the first flight of stairs. We live in a bilevel. He will then repeat for he second flight of stairs. Then at lightning speed, run all the way up the stairs and repeat many times. And oh, does he go through his food. But I weighed Melody today. Now she was squirming a lot so I'm now sure how accurate it was. But when she went to the vet, she weighted 12 pounds 2 ounces. Vet said she needed to weigh more around 11. So last week I weighed her and she weighed 11.4 pounds. Wow, was satisfied. Today I did the same thing in weighing her, weigh her in my arms then put her down and weigh myself, and she weighed over 14 pounds. So I think she is eating to much of the kitten food.

To,or row is lunch with the Sunday School class and Wednesday is Charlies annual appointment with the neurologist. I am going to make sure he sees Charlie put on his jacket to see how difficult it is. One thing her always makes sure he has Charlie do is to watch him walk. I hope Charlie shuffles as much as he dos here. You know when you are at a doctor,my ou always try to do as good as you can. I want him to see the real Chalrie of the 364 days he doesn't see him.

Good morning! Happy Tuesday! Up and moving early today, since DH set his alarm for 4:30, slept through it both times that it went off; but it woke me up completely! Oh well, an extra hour for myself this morning. Challenge Day 20: 75 jacks, rest day for squats and crunches, and 2 minute 30 second plank. SOOO glad for the rest day from the squats. Starting to feel it in my knees (thinking I might pull back on the squats). And I only held plank for 1 minute 45 seconds. I didn't reset and finish because my lower back hurt. I think I slept wrong. Ah well, tomorrow is another day.
Sharon- great picture! He takes selfies like a pro!
Barbie- Weeds in rocks are the worst! So hard on the fingers! I know, all of my plant beds around the house are in rock. Silly me, when we moved into this house, I thought it would be a great idea, cheaper than mulch since the rock was already in one area in the back yard under the deck. We found all of the rock when we tore down the disintegrating deck. I moved it so that it covered about a foot and a half all around the house. I put down weed barrier fabric, but somehow those weeds keep popping through.
Well, I have about an hour and 15 minutes before kids are due to arrive (we will see). Gotta run and get some breakfast down and get everything ready, just in case I have another surprise morning! Aaaaaand, we're off! xoxoxo KJ
