No. I'm almost 30, my metabolism only gets faster as I get older. I weight lift 6 days a week and according to all recent science your metabolism does not slow with age, it slows based on activity level which my activity level is greater than any woman I know.
As to your discovery, if you burn off almost all you eat, you'll stay in shape. Basic CICO. At my age with decent exercise, I can eat 2800 calories to just maintain.

That doesn't say your metabolism gets faster as you are claiming.
That was not what was under scope. We ere speaking about metabolism slowing with age.
Now mine has increased because of activity level. That's a separate issue.0 -

What's going on?! Well I could tell you but it's not worth the ban
Ban?0 -
If you were not an overweight young child, you missed out on the chance to create billions of new fat cells ready and willing to store every excess calorie consumed for the rest of your life. You deserve to be quite pleased and proud of your appearance.
I, OTOH, was such an overweight young child and do have the billions of extra available fat cells. I certainly could not pull that stunt.5 -

Saying what she really wants to say would probably cause her to get banned from MFP, which is totally not worth it.. I'm having the same conundrum.24 -

What worries me is the self diagnosed BED and the way she acts like it's nothing, it's insulting to people who struggle daily.18 -

That's because I am seeking validation from internet strangers I mean, like everyone in here is, it would be very surprising if even one person is NOT looking for validation on here. I would love to hear good job and amazing work and hear positive advice about how to eat. However I am FAR from desperate. I get tons of compliments all day16 -

I didn't say it wasn't "nothing" to other people. Only myself. Don't be weird. Don't put words in my mouth.6 -

An eating disorder is a serious problem for anyone who suffers from it. I'm not being weird I'm telling you if you have BED disorder as you said you do you need to get help. If you don't have an eating disorder please stop saying you do.15 -

You don't have comparison photos from the start of the week - you could have had abs prior to the cookies, pizza and cake? How do we know if you've changed or not?4 -
The picture laying down with my baby is pre-junk food2

So your saying it's impossible for me to binge eat because I'm thin... I do bing eat, almost every single night and go into week long splurges on sugary foods. Just because I don't fit into the mold you want me to fit into does not mean I don't binge eat. Stop harassing me.8 -

? Where's that picture. And how is a standing vs laying picture a comparison?5 -
Sorry, I don't have photos to compare. All of my images are snaps I send my husband... he likes it when I send him pictures of myself or the baby... I don't ever take any for myself or for comparison.7

Speak for yourself only. I am not here for validation, just accountability. And inspiration. And maybe some one-sided socialization. To wit, you'll never see me post any "success" stories or photos of myself of any kind.

Binge eating disorder is a severe, life-threatening and treatable eating disorder characterized by recurrent episodes of eating large quantities of food (often very quickly and to the point of discomfort); a feeling of a loss of control during the binge; experiencing shame, distress or guilt afterwards; and not regularly using unhealthy compensatory measures (e.g., purging) to counter the binge eating. It is the most common eating disorder in the United States.
BED is one of the newest eating disorders formally recognized in the DSM5. Before the most recent revision in 2013, BED was listed as a subtype of EDNOS (now referred to as OSFED). The change is important because some insurance companies will not cover eating disorder treatment without a DSM diagnosis. The formal diagnostic criteria are:
Recurrent episodes of binge eating. An episode of binge eating is characterized by both of the following:
Eating, in a discrete period of time (e.g., within any 2-hour period), an amount of food that is definitely larger than what most people would eat in a similar period of time under similar circumstances.
A sense of lack of control over eating during the episode (e.g., a feeling that one cannot stop eating or control what or how much one is eating).
The binge eating episodes are associated with three (or more) of the following:
Eating much more rapidly than normal.
Eating until feeling uncomfortably full.
Eating large amounts of food when not feeling physically hungry.
Eating alone because of feeling embarrassed by how much one is eating.
Feeling disgusted with oneself, depressed, or very guilty afterward.
Marked distress regarding binge eating is present.
The binge eating occurs, on average, at least once a week for 3 months.
The binge eating is not associated with the recurrent use of inappropriate compensatory behaviors (e.g., purging) as in bulimia nervosa and does not occur exclusively during the course of bulimia nervosa or anorexia nervosa.

Me: Binge Eating Disorder is a clinically diagnosed eating disorder, one of the hallmarks of which are feelings of loss of control and feelings of shame. Your comments do not seem to suggest that you have any shame, or humility for that matter, so I think you are flippantly misusing a serious word to describe the fact that you eat a lot of food, and that is offensive.
It has nothing to do with your body, your size, or your appearance. It's fine you want validation, attention, and comments. You may get some of that here, but please stop suggesting that because you have this desire for attention and compliments from strangers, that the rest of us do too. And please, stop saying you binge eat. Unless the description above does fit you and you are hiding some of the symptoms, in which case, please seek a therapist.

Good luck and I hope you find what you need. I'm not saying you can't have BED and be thin, I have BED and I had it when I was 95lbs, weight does not determine if it is an eating disorder. I'm saying if you have an eating disorder you should take it seriously. I'm concerned not harassing but I wish you the best of luck and hope you can find a way to be happy.11
