I'm so pumped to find this thread! I'm 6ft and 158lbs with a medium build. I started at 295 May 2016. I got my diet under control first. Then I started exercising in January. I'm feeling great! It's wonderful to see the before and after for other tall 'sisters'! Keep strong, everyone! It's tough at first because no one can see your progress and appreciate your hard work except you. But keep doing it for you!!16

It's not all it's cracked up to be. I have trouble finding pants. I'm too tall for Regular length and too short for Tall lengths. So I have to end up buying 2 pairs of the same pants...one for flats and one for heels. My dream height is 5'10".
Sounds like a nice *kitten* problem to have. LOL!2 -

I'm 5'9" and I gained 50 lbs during third tri in my pregnancy. It's been a battle losing weight and keeping it off since then(2012). I've been up and down, on and off. Lost all but 15 lbs a couple times couldn't get lower than that but then always gaining again. I was diagnosed hypothyroid in early 2015, but symptomatic much earlier than that and didn't know what was wrong. Since medicating properly, tweaking my diet and regular exercise I have now hit my goal weight of 145. Bf% is 21-22 area. I haven't weighed this since 2011, it's an amazing feeling. I hope this inspires some to never give up, always fight for what you aim for!!! Anything is possible, but it starts with your mind set and determination!

Watching this thread. I'm 5'8, SW 208, CW 201, GW 175, and I will re-evaluate when I get there. I am very large boned -my wrists appear bony at 7.5 inches- so I'll probably always be on the high end of the weight category.3

Love this thread.

Am looking forward to reviewing when I get to goal as it looks like I will be able to go further and not look 'too skinny' - you guys are amazing!!
ETA my first before/after pic. I scoured Facebook and I really don't have many full length pics of myself! Have always hated camera - but now it seems to be that it was due to my weight not just dislike of cameras, have less issues now

@arcticwoman you can do it! I started at 5' 9" and 271, I'm currently hanging around 200 hoping to lose another 30+ lbs, just keep going and build some healthy habits!5

I'm 5'11.5" with I think a medium frame. I currently weigh 177 pounds and have a goal weight of 150 which would be a size 8 for me. Any lower than that would be unhealthy for me. I am currently a size 12/ Large.

Hey tallies ----
I'm 54yrs old and 5ft 8.5" - formerly 5ft 9.5" or rounded up to 5ft 10" - and the shortest person in my family other than my 7yr old grandson...the women in my family are all 5ft 10" and taller, the men all over 6ft at least.

CW: 261 in Aug 2017
GW: 177
++ some might ask me why 177 and I'd say it's because I'm not sure what anything less than that looks like. That's what I weighed when I was playing college basketball in 1982 and in the best shape of my life. I lost sight of all that many years ago, and have struggled with my weight past 200 since gaining a huge amount during pregnancy with my daughter - who is now 33yrs old. I've used the excuse of "we're all just really big people" for years, but I can't stand myself at the 300 pound mark. I'm just now getting more comfortable, but my joints hurt and I really struggle with exercise. I keep reading all these posts about "lifting heavy" and want to know more about that. I really REALLY need to work on my core muscles, because everything else after that falls into place for me. I'm naturally very curvy, always have been, and don't expect that will change. At one point in my life I was 386 pounds at 29yrs old. I found Overeaters Anonymous, and followed their HOW program religiously with the result being 191 pounds when I had a major life event change everything. I was 40yrs old, I decided to quit smoking and had a full hysterectomy. My weight eased up about 10 pounds a year steadily. In 2014 my job ended and I had to go out on the road as a consultant...I went from 242 to 301 from Oct 2014 to May 2016 when I returned home to Vegas and no more traveling. Since then, I've been using MFP again pretty recently, and have been tracking my food intake better. It's helping, but I need to start incorporating a more substantial workout routine. I'll post photos when I'm at home.
Much love and respect from Vegas,
Dorrie aka TrulyDivyn9 -

Your stats are very similar to mine. I'm 51, 5'8", SW 300, GW 175. And I picked that weight randomly because it's what I weighed on my wedding day! Once I got there, I wanted a little more, so I'm currently maintaining around 166. Every one told me to lift heavy too--and I did--for one year now and it's been fantastic. I've showed these pics before, but I'll post here again so you can see the effects of that advice. Feel free to friend me if you want to talk specifics.
