@skippygirlsmom I hate running on garbage day (or the day before) because every one puts their cans on the sidewalk despite the city sending multiple notices that they are to be in the street. The garbage men are always good about looking out for pedestrians so that's always nice.

@navygrrl Yay for no crutches and getting to do your half, even if you have to walk some. But crazy about the previous break. Yikes!

@_nikkiwolf_ They are only doing top three overall for each gender. So as of right now I am guaranteed to place! It's partnered with our NHL team and they have made one Facebook post on their foundation page. It's a little weird seeing as the MLB team does one every year and they advertise all over the place, even for their inaugural.

Only did 2.8km today as I think I've succumb to the old "too much too soon" adage... Been having some calf soreness and discomfort during my runs and after...

Last time I posted was on page 9 this month and came back today and we are on page 28 - spent most of the day catching up on posts but only made it to page 22. Will catch up later.

I was only able to complete 4 of my planned miles last week and did not get my long run in this past weekend because I had planned to travel to Houston. However, My hubby thought Hurricane Nate was headed more west than east, so he did not want me to travel and my uncle (who had been battling cancer for two years) was sent home on hospice last week and past away on Saturday night. My uncle did not tell us he had terminal cancer even though he knew for about a year before he past away, so it was kinda of a shock. He felt if people knew that they would treat him differently.

    10/06 - 4.0 miles
    10/08 - 4.0 miles
    10/09 - Rest Day
10/10 - Rest Day (not planned)
    10/11 - 4.0 miles

    12/119 miles

    Upcoming Races:
12/02/2017 St Jude Memphis Marathon Weekend (HM)
01/13/2018 - Louisiana Marathon (Quarter Marathon)
    02/17/2018 - Mardi Gras Mambo (10K)

@bride001 I'm so sorry to hear about your uncle. I think my dad had the same mentality. He battled liver issues and eventually liver failure for 8 years before he told us about it, and then he passed three months after he told us. Part of it was that he always had an issue with telling us anything about his health because he didn't want us to worry. When I was deployed to the Middle East back in 2001, he had a heart attack and an angioplasty, but he didn't let anyone know until after he had been home from the hospital for a month. I know they don't want us to treat them differently, but I wish I would have had more time to prepare. Even with preparation though, it's still a shock. So *hugs* and mojo to you and your family.

    10/1 - Rest
    10/2 - Rest
10/3 - 5 miles treadmill before weight lifting
    10/4 - 8.15 miles
10/5 - 5 miles treadmill. Worst workout ever with serious BG problems. So bad that I skipped weight lifting afterwards.
    10/6 - Rest
10/7 - 1.4 miles. Was supposed to be 12 miles, but it was raining and I had some GI issues. Ugh.
10/8 - 4.72 miles. Was harder than it should have been.
    10/9 - Rest
10/10 - Figured out why I've been having GI/stomach issues/pain and difficulty breathing. Gall stones. Skipped run to try to flush gall stones.
10/11 - 5.04 miles - was supposed to be race pace. Some gall stones were flushed, but still having abdomen issues. Still, this went pretty well and was almost to race pace. Going to do the home flush again on 10/13 to get rid of any remaining gall stones.

    6---3.46
    7---6.23
    10---2.54
11---4.03 A good little run. Especially since I initially I decided to bail on today's run. I have a rule, if I have an IBS flare, I don't run (usually to dehydrated). I went out with the hopes the med kicked in and nothing was headed out. Tummy was fine. Now I have this strange pain in the middle of my IT band in the stance phase and if I squat. What is it?

    Thanks @kgirlhart @Elise4270 @skippygirlsmom @navygrrl @seanevan10 @BruinsGal_91 @kevaasen @PastorVincent @Stoshew71 @shanaber @cameronheel @katharmonic @garygse (congrats on your awesome time!!) @wishiwasarunner @7lenny7 @ddmom0811 @jvcinv @lporter229 @greenolivetree @RunRachelleRun @_nikkiwolf_ and anyone else I might have missed by accident!

@skippygirlsmom so funny you pointed that guy out! I've shown that picture to god knows how many people (and even made it my facebook profile picture!) and no one else noticed. Now it's all I can see when I look at the picture haha, poor guy
@amymoreorless looks like a beautiful day to play hooky! I think all of us are a bit jealous
@PastorVincent wow, first place across the board on Strava! Nicely done! Also I'm with @MNLittleFinn on this one, avoid long runs on the treadmill as much as possible. I typically run through the Chicago winters outside; my rule of thumb is that as long as it is above -10*F real feel I will run outside. I do avoid running when it is icy though, preferring instead to go during/immediately after a snowfall or waiting until they have plowed the streets once the ice sets in. Also it gets pretty windy here so I try not to go out if its over 25 mph winds, I just don't have the right gear for super windy and super cold
@shanaber Glad to hear you are staying safe out there! I hope you are able to get some running in, but staying out of the smoke and evacuation zone is definitely a higher priority!
@kristinegift So sorry to hear you are dealing with an injury right now, I can definitely understand the crankiness. Hopefully you are back out there soon!
@JessicaMcB Good luck! Though with all the training you've put in, you'll hardly need it
@_nikkiwolf_ is that a real live giraffe??? I am so confused lol

    October Running:
    10/03: 4.03 miles (1E/2MP/1E)
    10/05: 3.01 mile easy run
    10/07: 2.01 mile easy run
    10/08: Chicago Marathon (26.54 miles)!!!!!
    10/10: 2.01 mile easy run
    10/11: 3.08 mile easy run
    Total: 40.68 miles

    Notes:
Another easy run this afternoon, 3.08 miles at a 9:20 average pace. My legs surprisingly feel pretty much back to normal; I ran the "hill loop" twice at the park and my quads didn't hate it any more than usual haha. The only thing is that I have developed a cold over the last two days, and I'm hoping it won't keep me from running this week! I usually am almost never sick (last time was early 2016), so I suspect it was the marathon that got me sick- a combination of depressed immune system from all the race stress and the 200+ high fives I gave out (plus I don't think I washed my hands before eating lunch post-race :grimace:) Hopefully it will pass quickly, but in the meantime I am enjoying the excuse to get extra sleep!

    Upcoming Races:
    Chicago Marathon - 10/08/17 Finished in 3:54:35!!!
Space Coast Half Marathon - 11/26/17
    Excalibur 10 Miler - 03/18/18

    @skippygirlsmom Its a straight Grain Farm - no animals as they require 24 - 7 - 365 attention.
Since they are down to the last 100 acres ( ~5% of total acres ) they are very relaxed now.
Finally back home after a week away so should be back in my shoes tomorrow :) after adult swim club.
