Thanks for all the encouraging words and cards (especially). I keep them in a stack by my chair and re-read them to let myself know that I'll be 'okay' (in time). I've got to call my MD and ask to clarify a few things and ask about some medications I have and how or if they will affect my bipolar meds. I'm updating my medical history to take to my GP and GYN (especially him, since he has treated me the longest - 43 years - ever since he went into private practice). Taking them on next Friday when I go for 'fasting' lab work. Got to sign 'medical releases' so the MDs can legally exchange information. Need to get Macon MD to send me one for him to share with my local MDs. Not sure how to get the hospital records. I don't think that either Louis or I signed one at the time of my dismissal.
Yesterday my Neurologist's nurse helped talk me through a mini-meltdown. Last night as I made the bed I burst into tears. Louis came in and was so 'tender and sweet' that I could get it out. I've been 'all over him' when sleeping (haven't done that in years) ... took mattress cover off bed and the 'nests' we had been making went away. I still don't feel him getting out of bed and when I realized he wasn't there called out. In the bathroom, peeing. He kept 'twitching' in his sleep and finally stopped after I patted his arm hard. Must have been dreaming. I sure dreamed a lot last night - going to the grocery store of all things. Louis is supposed to go by and pick up a new pair of clippers for Cracker's nails (which grow all wacky on her left paw because she ran into Will's truck wheel/tire when she was only 4 months old). Possible hairline fracture in her paw; but really too young to confirm it - I hate having to hold her as Louis clips them. If he accidentally cuts them too far into the quick and they bleed, I almost get physically ill. At least her nails are white and the quick is easily seen.
I'm so far behind in posts that I just cannot go back and read them; but, 'Hi' to all the Newbies. Today, I tackle my 'list' again. "Ten seconds at a Time" still #1 ... check it off each time I look at it. Today's 2nd is 'finding my night guard' which has to be under the bed. My tongue is raw from rubbing it across the back of my teeth.
Last night I started itching again ... but; I had started taking my 'new' cholesterol-lowing medications that, while in the hospital, they had to replace it with a 'statin' (which I have not had any luck in taking). I am sure hoping that my MD will allow my standing appointment be my 'follow-up'. Right now, don't even know when Louis and Trey will be going out to Louisiana for hunting - Will is going to let them know in early January. Louis cancelled the trip for early December because of my being in the hospital. I almost wished they had just gone anyway; but, they had no idea when I would be discharged. Thankfully (I guess) the Social Worker was willing to do the 'family meeting' on a 3-way call. I'm not sure the other one would have done so.
So much I can't recall (and probably shouldn't try). My MD was only 'on call' for one weekend while I was in the hospital. Don't even know if the MD that treated me was a part of his practice or not - or even 'if' he has received the records. I think what bothers me the most is that Louis and Trey were pretty 'frantic' when they could not 'find out where they put me'. Louis doesn't usually get that way. They would not allow me to have my C-pap machine, only a little bit of clothing (probably good because I got 'conned' out of the little bit I had). That certainly has not helped with my 'trust issues'. Thank goodness for 2 former HS classmates for visiting me - one bringing more clothes. We had a trip talking about the things we did in HS - one being running my car up on a pile of rocks being used to work on Interstate 75 when it went through our hometown. All 4 wheels spinning in the air and undercarriage stuck on the rocks. Thankfully, the workers - who were doubled over with laughter were able to get us off and there was no damage. Boy, we sure did ride the "Blue Bomb" to its limit a lot of the time. We had decided to go that way, even though it was clearly marked 'closed' because it would cut off about 20 miles in getting to another friend's house. OMG, to think of what my own boys did as HS-ers - I know they did a lot of things that would have ended up with one or both of them 'on restriction' (and only finding out as they laugh and talk about them each time they get together).
I'm so glad to be 'back'; but, like I said - am taking a break from social networking for the most part.
Louis bought 'gift cards' for Christmas and a birthday ... but we are just going to put $$$ in them, not the card.
I can't believe the prices of shipping things for Christmas - I'm glad we don't worry about the arrival of packages.
Was very happy with the winner of "The Voice" although I really liked "Red" (who came in 4th). I'm surprised that Louis was awake after a 3-hour show (filled with a lot of useless singers we did not know). We could have gone all night without having to listen to the 'rapping'. I will never understand the woman who had the wig that covers her face (Sia ???); I know it is a prop - but, seems so 'stupid'. Usually she has a black and white one with a big bow on top - and straight.
Ran out of my protein bars and won't be going back for 3 weeks. I've got to balance my checkbook to see if I can buy enough to last me. I'd like to be weighed since I don't know what I weigh - cold hospital food, for the most part. I'm sure they were all balanced and made according to my weight. Only when Veronica was on shift did we get it a bit warmer. Still thinking about some of the nurses and how so many of them were nice; but, very protective of the MD - I still don't know 'how I got there' ... other than I know Louis and Trey took me. Ten seconds at a time ... . They must have put me on a regular floor for a little bit - or else my 'imagination' runs wild.
Guess I need to 'get off now'; but, checking MFP Community has become a 'habit' and hard to break.
Love y'all

Machka FYI Amazon Australia which just started business this month has MP3 players under 20 dollars.
But I think the fanny pack you posted might work. My niece uses something similar except it is an armband.
I did hear something about Amazon Australia starting up ... and that businesses here aren't too happy about it.

One of the presents my husband and I got for each other were new club jerseys, one in long-sleeve and one in short-sleeve.
This is the long-sleeve one and the photo was taken just before our 50 km ride on Sunday. Each colour block represents a State in Australia, according to Audax Australia's Style Guide.
The jersey is a little bit big for me, but I did want it big because I will wear things under it, and in fact, I am in that photo. I'm wearing red jersey underneath. It can be chilly here some days!

Did Shapes Ultimate Bikini Body DVD. I swear, I think I have this DVD but for the life of me I can't find it. I hate to say it, but I guess Vince is right, I probably should make up a spreadsheet of the DVD's that I have so I don't order one that I have. This is about the second or third time I've ordered something I already had. the plan for tomorrow is to do a Prevention with Chris Freitag DVD.
Speaking of DVD's that I have, while looking for the Shape DVD, I realized that I have two copies of Strong Body Ageless Body DVD. If anyone would like it, I downloaded it so I'd be willing to just give it to someone. It didn't cost me anything, so I sure wouldn't charge anyone anything. Just PM me if you'd like it
We have a Newcomer board meeting today. Steve is planning to leave early, then we have the meeting, I'd like to go to Lowes Foods to get potatoes and oranges that they have on sale, go to the bread outlet to get bread to have, Vince wants to go to WalMart and I think he said he wanted to go one other place.
Lenora - thanks so much for checking in. You take as much time as you need to get back to "normal". I was talking to this lady at AC Moore who had a service dog and asked her where she got the dog. she told me that she'd taken a class online and got her dog certified as a service dog. Perhaps you can look into that so that you can take Cracker into the store with you. In talking to Louis on the phone, I could tell that he really loves you. Wish I could say to you as well as Joyce could since that's what's in my heart (among other things). There have been times when Jessica has cut her cat's nails too short and they would bleed. I remember one time she put a piece of white bread on it. Another time she used flour (I think it was, I'll have to confirm with her) on it. I'll let you know exactly what it is that she used. There is no way in h*** the guys would have gone on their trip with you in the hospital. No way! Glad checking MFP is a hard-to-break habit.
Rye - are you saying that (the numbers are just an example) that if you can use 5 pounds, you are wondering if you should use no weight in the right hand and maybe 3 pounds in the left and when you work up to 5 pounds in the left, then resume using 5 pounds on the right? Assuming that's what you meant, I would continue to use the 5 pounds on the right. If you use no weight, it'll be that much harder for you to get back to the 5 pounds and you will lose muscle. I would use 5 pounds in the right hand and 3 in the left. Eventually, you'll build up to 5 in the left and 5 in the right. Now, remember, these numbers are just examples.
Barbara - that sure is a mixed bag of results.
Need to take the fish for Christmas Eve out of the freezer

Machka Thanks for posting that info about "Woo" meaning. I, too, was taken aback when I received a "Woo" on this thread. Then I figured out the "wooers" meant no harm. "Woo" is widely used in the MFP forums, as you already mentioned, to refer to bu11s#it, i.e., to practices or ideas not backed by evidence-based research. It is definitely not complimentary...except on this thread...we are SUCH nice women, LOL! That's why I stick with this thread, I can post my opinion and not be ripped apart.
If you look at the emoticon next to the Woo, you will see that it is a skeptical or maybe a surprised face, not a positive one. I think it would be better if they used this face for the "woo" reaction:
Karen in VIrginia1 -
Well, I must apologize, I definitely had the wrong conception of the the "woo" option. I totally was using it for "awesome" which has been taken away. So I will now refrain from clicking any of the buttons but I hope you know I think you all are awesome.

Well I am not getting much done, did have a conversation with Tom about Florida house and he thinks its worth 80-100.000 and I know even without the upgrades it is worth in the 120-130 range.. told him I would pay 1/2 to have the place evaluated so we get a correct number, I dont want to get jipped..and would rather pay 100.00 now and get what I need in the end...working noon -6 today and will stay here up until 11:45 and get them all outside before I go, and hopefully little puppy bladder can keep up.
Lenora ~ I am so glad you are here and getting back to your old self... and know we will be here for you always

Thanks for all the pics. I am in awe that y'all can read so many posts then respond to individuals, I am finding it challenging...I have memory issues and get confused when trying to mental multi-task, lol.
I am bi-polar, and I think some of my meds make it harder to mentally keep more than one ball in the air at a time.
The sharing and caring on this thread is inspirational....I just love seeing all the love.
Happy holidays to all and sending good thoughts and prayers to all.

Whew cannot believe it but have caught up with the posts ... for the moment.
Mixed bag'o'news at the DR today. Tried to tell DH all about it but he doesn't like to listen to medical stuff Thank goodness I have y'all!
Balance test v bad, tested today for neuropathy in feet and hands. Anyone have any experience?
Cognitive test v good, v low risk for memory issues (if only he knew :> )
B12 deficient, fortunately he gave the option of pills for 6 months instead of series of injections (whew)
BP great... because it was taken by a nurse and not that cornsarned machine. I do NOT have to test at home. Packing up the monster until DH needs it again.
They didn't do a lipid test so have to schedule another fast and poke. Will order another ultrasound on leg, continuing Xarelto, waiting for results before ordering compression socks.
CAN have a massage, just not on that leg.
Weight was exactly the same as in October
need to start taking bone density meds and make sure daily calcium is at least 1000 mg.
Dr is pleased with the twice weekly Tai Chi, weekly dancing, daily (mostly) <1500 Cals/CLO/yog or probiotic), time now to add aerobic exercise on the days I don't dance.
Thanks for letting me get that off my chest!
janetr Con VERY grats on your personal best
Sue in WA hope doing the Cantata filled you up, sounds like your DH's recovery will be quite challenging... for you ;} Love the unicorn!
Kate Star Trek beaming up does NOT appeal to me... I'll be broken down to my component atoms soon enough and would fear scrambling in transmission.
KJ Cherry whiskey dark chocolate, thanks for the tips! Would much rather a flying car than a transporter beam.
allie... ah that terrier prey impulse, YUCK! If it wasn't Alfie, which one brought you the gift?
Rye 4 pant sizes? VERY well done! Thanks for the "never two days in a row" a handy mantra to add to our strategy stashes. Could Amazon be using drones to "drop" packages in your area?
Joyce so glad Charlie "got the message" and was there for you. And that your kindess in not complaining about the waiter was repaid with a better experience. Blessings.
Rori ditto putting the healthy snacks front and center. Sometimes just seeing a trigger food can set me off.
Mary congrats on the new jobs! The mirror twins made me smile. what caption will you put on THAT Christmas card ?
Beth ((hugs)) Spending 3 days in hospital takes a toll not to mention the after care for both DH and OS.
hope someone can spell you a little, so you can rest and recuperate yourself a little.
Machka "...have to do it afraid" the few times I have, the feeling of accomplishment was pretty heady. Chocolates and toothbrushes LOL!
Martha, welcome back, so glad to see you again!
Sharon I am so with you about the cilantro. I'd as lief eat Irish Spring. urk.
Okie what are jalapeno popper devilled eggs? Sounds yummy!
Margaret Brava both for your restraint toward the new soprano and for going for the descant. Brava!!!
Barbie naps probably mess up my night sleeping too, but now that I'm retired and can take them at my natural down time (around 1pm) I really relish them.
Wendy wow you are so creative! So sorry to hear about Daisy Duke. My DH has two "vintage" vans and there's always something... but he loves them and they make him happy, so we squeeze the budget that much harder. It would be great if your father could fly to the rescue... ;}
Lanette just tried warming my robe on the wood stove, worked great! Now I'll steal one of DH's singleton socks and fill it with rice. Is brown ok or does it have to be white? Prayers for all affected by the train derailment.
Pip ooh the ballet shoes ornament! When I was a very little girl my parents gave me ballet lessons to try to improve my coordination (alas to no avail). When the shoe salesman asked me which color I wanted, black or white, I very determinedly pointed to the toe shoes hanging on the wall and stated definitively "Pink!"
Michele con Very grats on leaving the wii's overweight category, AND for continually extending your plank. Inspiring!
NYKaren thanks for sharing the NYC at Christmas pics, hope DD feels all better soon!
Carol thanks for the Lenora update. Hope her recovery is swift and sure. Rats, leaking water heater, ugh indeed!
Becca Sending positive thoughts to your OS, DH and your goodself. Sure your son is grateful for your encouraging reminder and support. Love the weird tribe, that's where we all fit in Love your 62 mile suggestion to Rye!
Yvonne "sooner than we anticipated" ((hugs))
Felicia, sorry for the 30+ year loss of your sister, harder on you than her recent death. Great pic of you and your mom. Safe travels.
Meg glad you'll be with friends' house for Christmas. Hoping the New Year brings continued strength and peace to you.
Lenora so good to hear from you and glad you're at home. Thankful for your BFF, your DH and Cracker, angels right at hand. You are so right about tears. ((hugs))
Rye Gratitude? From a cat??? You DID say you were cat people...
Kim "I really only like the kind of drama you buy a ticket for not the family kind." Got that RIGHT!
Hugs to all,
Barbara, the Southern Oregon Coastie AHMOD.

Hi all,
Back in the day my folks did a rhyming Christmas letter each year and occasionally I do one, thought I'd share it with you.
Christmas 2017
12 months in one page is the goal
Written and sent before Santa comes from the north pole!
Cards last year were not all sent – the days went to fast of course,
The last of them still on my desk, making me feel remorse !!
No big changes this year, vacations were few, a quick trip to Morro Bay,
Visits from Mom, Lynne, Ellen, Caryl and Julio all came my way
Levi and I walk every day, I garden for clients 5 mornings a week,
Embroidery afternoons and weekends, keeps me in line so to speak!
Time for my friends, Garden club, Women’s Club and book club, oh my
Of course that includes baking goodies and dinners and often a pie
YMCA camp is a client with a teaching garden I tend, 10 hours a week,
Produce to taste every day of the year, extra for the camp kitchen is what I seek.
Embroidery continues to be my main income, and a creative outlet as well
Pictures on Facebook; for clients, and friends my work I do sell.
The fires and hurricanes were quite the worry
All friends and family are safe, rebuilding takes more patience than hurry
Kyle (nephew) in college, studying and working part time fill up his days
But sleeping in, friends, and concerts are his favorite way to play
“God kid” Ben is out of college, teaching science camp
Living in Seattle where the weather is damp
“God kid” Emily is at MCPHS, Boston – Graduation with a BA this coming May
I’ll vacation there to celebrate her big day
Levi (dog) is 6 this year, still cute, full of energy and very attached to me
I love having the company, and the exercise of walking helps tremendously
In the current US situation, peace, patience and listening skills
Will heal the divides and make us stronger which could be a thrill
merry christmas to all,
Love Kim6 -
Well all your thoughts of concerns, and prayers helped my elder Navy son! We recd a quick FB message saying he's restricted to base for 60 days, no internet or phone for 60 days, pay docked 2 months, rank suspended, meaning that he just needs to keep his nose clean!. But nothing saying he's out! Its all learning things. Lord knows what that kid did, but it was a stupid mistake he said. Alls well, and I will be able to talk with him in 60 days about it.

Machka - I have a spi belt. It works okay but bounces a bit if I load it too heavy. I also have a flip belt which doesn’t budge but it sits snug so I sweat on it lol. The sliver stretches quite a bit so it holds most phones. It is not waterproof.
I did get my gait checked but have just over the years kept track of brands/models I like and those I hate. The only real difference in shoes is the heel to toe drop (zero to 15mm. So running flat footed or having more heel left) and if you probate (roll your foot) in which case they can recommend stiffer /support shoes. I track mileage on all my shoes. When my run is logged I note which shoes I was wearing. At 400 miles they get delegated to gardening.
I track with my Garmin watch but I still carry my drafted phone.3 -
Becca - that sounds like a good outcome. Whatever the problem was, he will have learnt a lesson. Hugs for you.
Had wonderful Chinese Chicken and Black Beans tonight. Still haven't done the brandy butter and chocolate truffles. I did make my very first ever caramel (dulche de leche ) from a tin of condensed milk in the IP this evening. I was hoping it wouldn't blow up! I'm thinking of using it for caramel brownies. Strictly for guests! My local supermarket doesn't stock caramel. I've got to leave it all night to decompress. Could make salted caramel cheesecake, but I don't trust myself.
I bought a very cheap, basic Christmas wreath while we were out today. I've wound some battery string lights around it and put a couple more decs on. It is now proudly hanging on the front door for five minutes work! Looks worth a great deal more. Nice to welcome our guests after Christmas.
Much love to all, Heather UK xxxxxxx5 -
Hi, I have been reading and trying to keep up. Can not believe Christmas is almost here. Enjoying my cards as one of my favorite parts. Also have our Cross tree up. Working on taking things one day at a time.

Have been wracking my brain as how to put 100 $1 bills in a box or in some kind of fun way without spending a y money doing it. But in the end I decided that a young lady will also appreciate seeing 1 $100 bill in a gift envelope. I will pit 25 $1 bills in her stocking though. I think I will put them in a toilet paper roll, empty, wrap in pretty tissue wrap and tie bows on each end. Her younge sister Ellie is quite the kid. But of course you all know that from the way I talk about her. She gets her allowance and also money during the year for birthday, Valentine's Day, etc. but she never spends that money. So yesterday she and her Dad got on Amazon and she went shopping for Christmas presents. She bought $100 worth in gifts for people. My daughter didn't know who is included in her gift list if it is school or scour have friends or family or maybe all. But I sure do lov that girl. Can be quite irritating at times but full of love, joy and hugs and kisses.
