Sitting in ER with dad..blood in his stool for the last week11
-
Good Morning,
We had a wonderful Christmas weekend. We spent time with family on Christmas eve morning and then went to deliver present to the grandchildren on Christmas day. We came home and had a quiet afternoon and evening.
We had 4 inches of snow fall on Christmas eve and today we have fog as well as the snow to contend with.
I have enjoyed reading about and seeing all of the Christmas celebrations.
Katla: I am in Ontario Oregon.
KetoneKaren: What a special treat to share such a special port and moment with your son.
Hope everyone has a wonderful day.

Kelly, sounds like Joaquin loves his grandma!
Karen, Olivia is so cute! Of course I am partial to Olivias as I have one.
Pip, let me know how the socks work. I’ve never heard of them.
Becca, travel safe.
Heather, fingers crossed that you don’t ring in the new year sick. Enjoy your company.
Allie, not a good way to spend the day after Christmas. Hope your dad is better soon. ((HUGS))
Got about 4 inches of snow yesterday but it was all ice when I cleaned off the car this morning to go to work. Only 17 here now. Suppose to get to the single digits this week. Guess we will have that wood stove burning.
Well back to work.

Thanks to my wonderful husband, I now have all my ribbons in a row. . Actually not all, he's going to get me one more, that should do it.

Did a workout on the bosu today. The plan for tomorrow is to do 30MF cardio DVD
DJ - what is your recipe for French Toast in the oven? I'm thinking that might be a good thing to make for Denise and Pete. I have no idea what they like, so I'm trying to think of things that either I like too or that I can donate. I have a recipe for a sausage, egg and cheese casserole that I might make one day.
Barbara - I wouldn't call my crochet "stick-to-it-tiveness". Really, it's more something to keep my hands busy so that I don't want to eat because I know that if I eat anything and the yarn (or material) gets stained, I know who'll have to wash it. I'm lazy, so avoiding eating I will most likely avoid having to wash the piece.
Went to the Salvation Army this morning. They had this snowman as a decoration, and I got it for $1.59. Not sure how good it is. I figure if worse comes to wose, we can always redonate it. Looks like there are two sets of lights and one is out, but it might be an easy fix like a bulb is out that we can replace. The hat seems to be coming off, but a bit of bailing wire should remedy that. Also, the weld for one of the hands is broken but, again, some bailing wire should fix that.
Lisa - what lovely pics. Thanks for sharing them
Allie - is there an area of your condo that isn't carpeted? When Jess watches this one dog, she always leaves the dog in the kitchen when she goes out. The dog has kidney problems and can't hold it in very long. At least if it pees, it's in the kitchen which has tile so it's easier to clean up. Why not for the first time leave Alfi in a smaller, but bigger than his crate, area -- like a bathroom -- and see how he does?
Barbara - "Working out on less than 3 hrs sleep?" I swear in a lot of ways I am addicted to exercising. However, I did cut out my plank that day and another part. But I just had to do SOMETHING
Allie - (((HUGS FOR YOU))))
janetr - great that everything is so organized. Is it in some sort of holder so that you can just pull out a drawer?
We'll probably be leaving for the movies soon so I want to get this posted.

Michele: I think you & I have some things in common that bother each of us. My kids live about a thousand miles from me, and nearly that far from each other. DS is in the military and goes where he is assigned. It will be this way until he retires in the future. That is easy to accept. DD chose to live with her DMIL. In her case, it is hard not to feel abandoned. DMIL offered free housing and babysitting. She lives in a huge house and has the space to make that offer. We live in a two-bedroom townhouse. There was no way to compete. Add to that, our son in law doesn't like Western Oregon due to the weather. Your daughter Denise seems to be a blessing in your life. My kids are also blessings, but the geographic separation is hard.
Alison: You transformed your life this year. I am happy for you. :bigsmille: Unsolicited doggy advice: Let the pup out of the crate when you are in the same room and watching. Otherwise, keep him in an area where puppy boo-boos won't damage the floors. Sending prayers for your dad. (((HUGS)))
Barbie: I've used seed stitch successfully but am intimidated by the twist. I've never managed anything but a mess to unravel and knit a different way when I've tried to add a twist. If we lived close enough I'd beg for knitting lessons. :flowerforyou:
Lenora: WELCOME BACK! :flowerforyou:
Barbara at the S Oregon coast: Your Christmas with DH sounds wonderful and contented. Congratulations on making life changes and enjoying the results.
Margaret: "Kindness" is an excellent word for the year. :flowerforyou:
Becca: Enjoy your time in the Vancouver/Portland area. I hate Portland traffic and would be likely to cross the river on the Longview Bridge and head to your son's from there. I am hopelessly addicted to advice giving, but I'm giving myself permission because of how much I didn't like driving in Portland the other day when we were working on our doggy medical emergency. (The dog is doing much better.)
Martha in Eastern Oregon: DSIL and a cousin of DH live in your area and I also have cousins there. It is a nice area. We usually get there once or twice a year.
I made my first crocheted star and am now "hooked." I will likely make a few more, but not today.

Katla - I don't feel that Denise is a blessing. When we moved to NC, she didn't want to move. Pete's mother co-signed for an apartment for them, which they skipped out leaving her owning thousands of dollars. then she co-signed for yet another apartment for them. She buys them this and that. See, our feeling is "we'll help you, but you need to also help yourself". To me, Jess is more of a blessing. The last time Denise was down here except for Christmas Eve (which we really have to convince her to do) was 4 years ago, and that is only because Vince was going for major heart surgery. Did she stay with me while he was in surgery? Of course not. Jess took the day off from work to stay with me. Denise didn't. Pete's step dad bought them a truck. When she had problems with her car, we brought her down here, made sure she got a job and earned the money for the repairs. She went back to PA as soon as the repairs were completed. At least she does call. Why is she coming here so late after Christmas? Because she didn't make arrangements for her dog. She wanted to bring it here, we'd told her before that the dog can't come here so why did she think we would allow it now? Why can't Pete's parents watch the dog? Because his step dad is afraid that the dog would scratch their new wood floors. Actually, it's Pete's dog. They have a VERY small apartment, and this is a BIG dog.
But at least she does call. Which is more than Bryan does
Well, we need to leave now.

Karen VA ... Olivia looks wonderful!!
Christmas Eve we went to both the Sunday morning service and the evening candlelight service ... beautiful services ...
Christmas Day was quiet here with just my husband and two sons. Through the night we had about 6-8 inches of blowing snow ... but by morning it looked like a Christmas Card it was so beautiful. These photos don't really do it justice ... but thought you might enjoy.

Call me crazy but I love to see other people happy and succeeding .
Good Evening Friends,
Lisa, great ring Santa brought you.
Terry, what a special necklace your DD bought. I think sharing it is cool.
KarenVA, what a great picture of Olivia.
Heather, bummer about the cold you expect to come your way. The things we do for love.
Barbara, I’ll admit that 46F is a little cool for me to walk the beach but we are going to stay in the 40’s most of this week. That is cold for us down here. I hope you and DH had a nice walk.
Allie, even though we often feel guilty about crating our dogs, they really don’t seem to mind. Most of them sleep most of the day anyway if we aren’t there to entertain them.
Janetr, what a great way to organize your craft material.
Michele, I have a number of recipes for breakfast casseroles but I wanted something simple this year. My very favorite one has apples and dried cranberries on the bottom before the bread is added but it’s pretty rich and high in calories. This one just used two layers of French bread with brown sugar and cinnamon on the bottom layer. Then the eggs and milk are poured over the bread and topped with more brown sugar and cinnamon. It goes in the fridge overnight and bakes for 30 minutes at 350 degrees. I was going to serve it with ham but we just each had some of it at different times of the morning. The mimosas came a bit later and were made with cranberry juice rather than oj. If you Google French Toast casserole you will get tons of ideas.
The snow is beautiful but I’m glad we rarely get it here. I hope you all stayed safe while driving in it. I’ve started putting away a few of the snowmen. I’m not rushing into any of the undecorating but I’ll be happy to get the plastic totes back up in the attic.
Sending love, good thoughts and sunshine to all of you.
I Love you

Just fooling around on my tablet to see how to post pictures. It worked! My daughter's new home. A quilt I just finished for Project Linus. My gifts from Mitch for Hanukkah. Our last night of Hanukkah menorah!
Loving all the pictures. Quiet for us here. Heading to Houston tomorrow for museum visit and dinner with our son.

Merry day after Christmas! It started out with a dead battery in my van. It has died before and we had AAA come out and charge it up. This was about a month ago. He offered to put a new battery in for the AAA charge but Charlie said no. Well we have been going out and starting it and running it for about 15 minutes every day. We didn't yesterday and it did again. So AAA came out and put a new one in. I guess that is how much Charlie has changed with his Parkinsosn's he wouldn't have done that before. But it is 24 degrees out there and he couldn't immediately find the right tool to take the old battery out and take it to Auto Zone like we usually do. He just always take sit out, take s it down to Auto Zone, and gets a new one, brings it home and installs it. But now we have a new battery.
We went to my sisters last night for supper and had a good time. That was all it was but sometimes that's all you need. They will get the key to the fellowship hall today and my sister whose name is Norma, Michelle and I will get down to see the hall so,e time this week. I think we will start taking things down there so it isn't all done in one day. If you remember, the dishwasher doesn't work and we have to bring everything either to my house or Norma's. So casserole dishes, pots and pans, everything has to be taken there. We will use paper plates and disposable silverware as usual. The cost of the place we have rented befor has increased from $75 to $150 and they didn't make any improvements so only one stove and no dishwasher. This new place is $50 and has two stoves, two microwaves, etc. it does hav a door that is open to a long hallway and my nephew with an autistic daughter is worried about that but I hav told him to bring baby gates. And this place isn't in the boonies like the other one. It is right off the main highway which is where the hotel is that my brothers stay at.
Today I finished putting the tissue wrap in the last remaining gifts, have the money gifts together. So everything is ready.
Allie, we didn't want to crate our dog when we got him but when he as a puppy was getting pretty distructive, took the heels off of every high heel I owned, we went to a pet store and talked to an expert. He said all animals have homes, they all have different names. And a puppy needs to have his own home to go to for comfort. So we bought a good size crate for bedtime and when we were out of the house. That crate became a place of solace for him. He would go in there every night at 10 PM sharp and go to sleep. He did that even if we weren't there to close it. If there was an argument he would go in it. That big ugly crate was his place. And when he got sick he spent a lot of time in it. We thought it was a place for punishment but it wasn't. It became his home inside our home. Yes, he loved to sleep with the girls and as he got older we allowed that. But when he was a puppy he had his very naughty times. He also took the skirt off of my couch. He was a very bad boy,
Loving all the Christmas pictures!

Random, that is the same reason that my daughter and my grandchildren are leaving me...they are off to live with mother in law who has offered them free housing and is dying to babysit evenings and weekends... So now I will have to drive three hours to visit them which won't be all that often...But they are only renting out their house and will come back 'if it doesn't work out' so I guess we'll see what happens.
Anybody heard anything from Penny?
I have just been eating the last of the pavlova and icecream after doing my hot bee work. The idea of sitting down with a bowl of cold icecream and pav made my work seem a lot easier...Now I am heading into the office to work on end of year accounts. Our ownership of the business changes hands in four days but we won't get paid out for many months...which is going to make finances even tighter than it has been. Yikes!
I had a good Christmas with all three of my daughters and my two grandchildren here to celebrate, along with neighbours and friends there were 17 of us. My grandson loved the bike we got him and my granddaughter enjoyed her new paddle pool. Togetherness and Harmony were my favourite gifts this year. Peace and Love...Laughter too and Hope for the future.

@langman22 ... like this ...Regarding posting pictures ..... the ones that aren't ours ...
If you save them onto your computer and post them from there, the appropriate attribution does not necessarily follow them, and you could, potentially, be in violation of copyright laws. MFP could also, potentially, be in violation of copyright laws. Some photos use watermarks, which helps.
Instead of saving them onto your computer, simply do this ...
Find your image.
Right click on it.
If you are using Windows 10, it's really easy ... select "Copy Image Address"
If you are using Windows 7, select Properties, then where it says: Address (URL), copy all of that making sure you have the type at the end (.jpg or .png or .gif or whatever)
Now come back to MFP.
Select the icon above the message that looks like a little landscape mountain range with a sun.
Paste into the pink/beige box, where the cursor is flashing.
Into your message, you will get something that looks like:
(square bracket)img(square bracket) with the address you just copied in this spot and then the closing tag for img ... (square bracket)/img(square bracket)
And voila, your picture will appear!
Now, if you click quote on this message, you will see the whole image address for the picture below. You will see that it comes from cdn.doublequotes.net. You will see the size the picture is and that it is a jpg. If you copied the whole thing from the http all the way to the .jpg and put that into google, you'd be able to find that exact image. You'd also be able to post it in Facebook or elsewhere. And that address meets the copyright requirements, at this point ... you've indicated where you got it.

Hi Ladies ... another post that is just general BS.
Thanks to all who sent cards and well wishes for me (to get well) ... I'm better now that I was able to change password on FB account. Being able to do that meant that I had finally found that 'first step' to recovery. After that, I worked on email issues that were not something my ITs could 'help' with. Mainly because after calling ISP, they told me ... after checking my settings ... that they were the ones who were having the issue, a security issue and they haven't been able to 'fix' it and don't know how long it will take. Bummer! But, at least I can now communicate with certain friends via FB. Was told that I would have to use my web-based email program and I don't like the 'look' of it after using Outlook for years. The updating of my computers changed some things and I wasn't able to get the help I needed. I am not the least bit computer savvy. Was never allowed to trouble-shoot my computer when I worked, not able to have a personal email on it either. To do so, meant ground for immediate dismissal. When I had a problem at home, the IT would tell me how to fix it. Sometimes if he had to spend the night, he would come to the house a check it out. I got very spoiled to this. Had to make a back-up daily and that took 30 minutes. Sometimes it would be 'dark-thirty' before I got home.
I've done a whole lot of 'apologizing' for my outbursts last week ... totally uncalled for and I would not normally act like such an @$$ ...
Trying to learn how to live life "10 Seconds at a Time" ... this is 'new' for me because it means having to learn the true meaning of "The Serenity Prayer". Patience is by far, not one of my better virtues. I'm usually pretty 'mouthy' when it comes to reacting to others (either their comments or actions).
I knew I was sick (enough) to be admitted into the hospital for them to 'tweak' all my medications; but, from the point my DH and DOS admitted me, they transferred me to the 'locked' unit of the psyche ward. When they did that 'nothing would be released to anybody about me being there'. So when Louis and Trey returned from parking the car ... they could not find me and nobody was telling him anything. They were frantic. I learned that 'after' I got released. Also, learned that Louis had told them, when they wanted to release me after 3 weeks that I was 'not ready or stable enough to come home' and he wanted them to keep me for another week. He waited until yesterday, after I was calm, to tell me that. I knew I wasn't and that did not bother me. I think what bothered me was the fact that I 'knew' where I was and found there are some really, really seriously 'sick' people around. I think the unit was very over-crowded and it was stressful on 'everybody' ... patients and employees alike. I think after a few incidents with the 'frequent flyer' there was going to be a 'killing' if there was not a change. Suddenly all 3 of the women were moved to the 'open' unit where we were allowed to attend sessions with the Social Workers. I had already dealt with the old "Pollock" and I knew what to expect from him. Questions of 'why are you here' ... were not getting the response he knew already. They were there because they either had drug or alcohol issues and he wanted them to 'admit they had fallen off the wagon' rather than say they 'were recovering addicts'. I knew why I was there ... non-compliance with taking my medications and then having seizures caused by it. That is what actually put me in the hospital. So, I do have some 'control' over that. I need to get a different pill container because I am now taking pills at 4 different times during the day.
Oh, I remember making candy with a candy thermometer; but, still spooning some of it into a glass of water. I know that my Mimi used to make Divinity for Christmas and she always said that it would not turn out if it was raining ... I never had any luck in making it.
I was treated by a partner of my regular MD and there were times that I got frustrated because apparently I repeated my questions a lot. They did not allow Louis to leave my Cpap machine; but, as long as I was in the 'locked' unit I wasn't put on one. When they finally did, the mask was way too big, so it wasn't doing me any good. That was resolved 2 days before they released me.
The Activities Director was a real jerk and seemed to 'enjoy' frustrating us during his sessions. One day we were coloring and then he turned on a Dr. Seuss DVD and put it right in front of me. The bright lights were not something I needed to be looking at, because bright colors and flashing lights can set off my seizures. He did not seem to care what anybody said, and he spent his time working on his computer. Then one day, he put another DVD in on Eric Clapton. Both times he turned on the lights without warning. One day he threw his feet up on the couch and announced 'he was a patient'. It took a lot of control, on my part, not to go over and ask him to move over ... I might not have liked the response. Because the Polish SW drove his scooter up beside me, I chose to ignore this action. The next session I asked 'if you were a patient, what were you in here for'? His response was, I was pretending. Yeah, I'd like to pretend I am not here ... but, I am.
Commented about jigsaw puzzles and another game missing pieces and asked why would someone donate that to a psyche unit? The last day, I was brought a new one and told, 'here, this one has all the piece, it is still wrapped up. So I went to put this 1000 puzzle together ... worked on the pieces that fell together and just put the others in piles according to the colors. I would guess that about 600-650 pieces were the same ... background, which would be difficult even for someone who really liked working with puzzles. I thought this was unnecessary and irritating. Just frustrating, not helpful in trying to encourage one to 'get better'. I think they got tired of my 10 seconds of playing chopsticks and heart and soul ... both ends of the piano. One of the nurses came in and played the bottom half of heart and soul. Some I liked, some I didn't, some changed my mind one way or the other.
I need to turn computer off ... trying to make sure I turn it off earlier in the evening so I can change my sleep patterns for the better.
I will probably be just lurking for a while.
Love all of you! Now know that this site is full of women who are friends. Thank you al so much.

The dogs walked happily in the snow for almost an hour before breakfast and then didn't want to walk after so I walked by myself for almost two hours. It didn't freeze overnight, so it wasn't icy. Spent the morning working on paperwork including a thank you note to my line dance class for their thoughtful gift. After a simple lunch, we watched movies ("Argo" and "The Mexican") with a break in between to take a nap. I rode the exercise bike, knitted, and did my strength training while watching the movies.
Katla, the "twist" isn't essential to the scarf or hat pattern. The hat is knitted on two circular needles with stockinette at the bottom, trinity stitch above, and back to stockinette to do the decrease rows. The scarf is seed for about ten rows at the bottom. Then seed for about ten stitches on each side and trinity stitch in between. The twist made a nice line between the trinity and the seed, but could be left out.
I have access to a copy of Younger Next Year for Women so if you'd like to have it, send me your name and address in a personal message and I'll get it sent to you.
It might snow again overnight. If it does, the line dance teacher may not be able to get down her steep hill to teach class so the class might be cancelled.
Allie, all our dogs loved their crates and stayed in them happily as puppies. As they got older they often went back into them for a nap or to eat a treat.
